Kid Cudi Explains Why He Turned ‘Entergalactic’ Into An Animated Universe: ‘I Was Tired Of Making Albums’

Kid Cudi is just days away from dropping his 10th studio album, Entergalactic. Though much of the album was recorded three years ago, Cudi has been in the process of creating an animated special to accompany the album. For Entergalactic, Cudi teamed up with Kenya Barris to develop the album’s animated component for Netflix.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Cudi revealed why he chose to take a different approach when creating Entergalactic

“…I was tired of making albums,” Cudi said. “I was bored of it. I was bored of having an album, dropping two music videos, and then that’s it. I was tired of the same old thing. And I was like if I’m going to do another album, it has to be exciting. It has to be something different that nobody’s ever done before. And that’s when I came up with the idea to try to do this musical told through animation. And it just made so much sense from that point on. Kenya [Barris] was the first person who really put the animation idea in my head cause he said that Netflix was looking for animation.”

The animated special will also star Jessica Williams, Timothée Chalamet, Ty Dolla Sign, and 070 Shake.

Entergalactic is out 9/30 via Republic and will stream on Netflix the same day. Pre-save the album here.

Kid Cudi Says He’s Taking Skating Lessons From Tony Hawk: ‘Im Documenting The Whole Thing’

Over the past couple years, Kid Cudi has allowed fans to get a closer look at his life. Last year, he released a documentary called A Man Named Scott on Amazon Prime Video, which gave fans a look at his career from the release of his breakthrough single, “Day ‘N’ Nite,” to the present day. Earlier this month, he revealed that he has begun work on his memoir. Now, ahead of his upcoming 10th album, Entergalactic, Cudi revealed that he is learning how to skate again, and is taking lessons from a skating legend.

“Tony Hawk is gonna teach me to skate again,” Cudi said in a tweet. “Its gonna take awhile to find my footing but im f*ckin ready. Im documenting the whole thing. Come take the journey w me. First lesson today. Here we go b*tch.”

Though he did not reveal whether he’ll share the documented footage in the form of a full-length documentary or a series of videos, Cudi promises to keep his fans fed.

Cudi’s Entergalactic will arrive next Friday, and its accompanying Netflix special will be available to stream on the same day. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he shared his hopes for the project’s impact.

“I hope it just sprinkles a little love in their life. I hope it makes people feel really good,” Cudi said. “I hope people listen to it with their lover, or crushes or whoever and just vibe and connect with it and just go.”

Kid Cudi And Ty Dolla Sign Discover Who They’re ‘Willing To Trust’ On Their New Single

Just a week away from his album and Netflix special Entergalactic, Kid Cudi has given us another taste of what to expect. On his latest single, “Willing To Trust,” Cudi is joined by his Entergalactic co-star Ty Dolla Sign on a poignant, romantic ballad.

“It’s the day I’ve been waitin’ for / And I’m settin’ the scene / Your touch paralyzes me in the mornin’ / And I don’t want you to go /Sincerely yours, forevermore,” Cudi sings in the opening verse.

On each of their choruses, Cudi and Ty Dolla Sign sing “I’ve been willing to trust someone” after spending so long searching for love.

Ty Dolla Sign delivers the second verse, detailing the events of falling in love when he least expected it.

“If we ain’t got trust we ain’t got nothin’ / Is this really love, what it’s bеcomin’ / Funny how we turned into somethin’ / Said you wasn’t even lookin’ for a boyfriend / Don’t need new friends, that sh*t so confusing,” sings Ty Dolla Sign.

Entergalactic is out 9/30 via Republic and will stream on Netflix the same day. Pre-save the album here.

Kid Cudi Has Begun Working On His Memoir: ‘I Feel Like Everything Will Make A Lil More Sense’

Kid Cudi is keeping his fans fed this year with several new projects. Next Friday, he will release his 10th studio album, Entergalactic, which will be accompanied by a Netflix special. While we wait, Cudi has announced that his has begun work on his memoir.

He shared an update on Twitter this morning, saying, “Started writing the first chapter of my book. Its comin together really well. Tellin my story in my own words is scary, but I feel like it needs to be told. I feel like everything will make a lil more sense as to why you all met such a troubled boy in the beginning.”

Cudi first announced the memoir via Twitter this past weekend. He detailed the memoir saying, “Im finally gonna tell my story. The full story. All real. All honest.”

Cudi has not shied away from a multitude of tough topics in his music, including addiction and mental health. If the relatability and emotional intimacy of the memoir is anywhere near that of his music, readers are guaranteed to be struck in the feels.

Entergalactic is out 9/30 via Republic. The Netflix special will be available to stream on the same day. Pre-save the album here.

Kid Cudi Calls Himself “The Most Hated Man In Hip-Hop Right Now”

kid cudi to the moon tour

Kid Cudi definitely hasn’t been feeling the love this year. The man on the moon recently tweeted that he thinks he’s currently the most hated man in hip hop.

“I am the most hated man in hip hop right now it seems but im really one of the most blessed,” he tweeted.

Cudi’s tweet came shortly after he noticed that songs from his upcoming Entergalactic album started to appear on the internet. However, whoever leaked the project put fart sounds over the songs. Fans quickly speculated that it was Mike Dean who leaked the album and laced the songs with flatulent sounds.

Cudi’s upcoming project is slated to release on September 30 along with his Netflix series of the same name.

Hopefully, things get better for Cudi and he doesn’t feel like he’s the most hated man in hip hop. Cudi began the year with Kanye tarnishing their friendship over Pete Davidson, and has been the butt of many of Kanye’s jokes ever since.

Cudi was announced as Ye’s replacement for Rolling Loud Miami and was met with bottle throwers while he was on stage, and now there seems to be beef between him and Mike Dean after the producer/engineer was dropped from Kid Cudi’s festival lineup.

After he was dropped, Mike Dean tweeted about Cudi, calling him “Mid” Cudi. “Dickhead canceled me just from jealousy. Just because I was on tour with The Weeknd,” he tweeted. “Also there’s more people in a half full stadium when I play than when Mid plays the small arenas.”
