The nominations for the 2023 Emmy Awards were announced yesterday (July 12), and the music world was well-represented. Kid Cudi’s Netflix series Entergalactic is nominated for Best Animated Program, while Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show picked up five nods. Since then, both artists have shared their reactions to the news.

Rihanna shared a gallery of photos from the performance on Instagram and wrote, “pull up breed up 2 d bashment… 5 EMMY NOMZ is craaaaazzzyyy!!! Im so grateful for every single person involved in creating these memories!” The official account of the NFL commented, “deserve em all [trophy emojis].”

Meanwhile, Cudi justifiably spent pretty much the whole day being excited about the news. His initial reaction was the tweet, “ENTERGALATIC IS EMMY NOMINATED!!!! YES YES YESSSSSSSSS!!! OMG WTF THIS IS INSANE!!!!! [crying emojis] THANK U GOD [folded hand emojis].” He followed that with, “Love to all the homies that hit me and showed love about the emmy nom. Trav [Travis Scott] hit me first before anyone sayin congrats. It feels good to know I got real homies, real family out here that support me always.”

He later tweeted, “THIS IS HUGE!!! CONGRATS TO THE WHOLE TEAM WHO BUSTED THEIR ASSES FOR 3 YEARS AND BROUGHT THIS BAD BOY TO LIFE!! @netflix #entergalactic Now, the big question: What to wear??” He then thanked folks involved with the show: “Kenya Barris, Elizabeth Porter, Mike Moon, Mike Penketh, Fletch Moules, Maurice Williams, Ian Edelman, Karina Manashil, Dennis Cummings. Recently, Kid Cudi has been more open to receiving criticism from fans. The entertainer shifted his musical direction following negative feedback on his past song. However, the “Porsche Topless” rapper is not here for negative Nancys. After joking about his digestive system’s response to McDonald’s new Grimace shake giving him diarrhea for 24 hours, one user felt the beverage was not intended for him because of his age.

In a now-deleted tweet, the user wrote, “No offense, but that drink is not meant to be consumed by people over 25,” to which Kid Cudi didn’t hold back as he clapped back.

“I see people don’t get my humor, and that’s ok, but don’t be an assh*le on here cuz I’m being myself. I don’t care what anyone thinks. Ima always be myself. My silly, goofy self. And my friends and family love me for it,” wrote the entertainer.

Cudi responded directly to the user, writing, “So I’m supposed to, like, lose my childlike spirit because I’m almost 40?? Maybe that’ll be your sad fate, my friend, but ima be a happy, silly dude til I’m old and grey.”

Shortly after the exchange, the user deleted their initial post, to which one of the entertainer’s fans called out. Cudi reacted to the removal of the post, writing, “Exactly. Stupid.”

Kid Cudi Canceled His Moon Man’s Landing Festival Just Two Weeks After Announcing It

Exactly two weeks ago, on June 14, Kid Cudi announced his Moon Man’s Landing festival would be going down on August 19 in Cleveland. The lineup was set to featured an intimate lineup led by Lil Uzi Vert, Suicideboys, Coi Leray, and himself. Now, though, Cudi has had to U-turn on that, as he revealed last night (June 27) that this year’s festival will not be happening.

In a statement shared on Twitter, Cudi explained that he was unable to get approval for the outdoor event from the city, and that an indoor event wasn’t desirable. He wrote:

“Hey guys,

Got some bad news Im gonna have to cancel Moon Man’s Landing this year. I know u guys wanted an outdoor festival, and so did I, but the city wouldnt approve it. And instead of cancelling the whole thing I decided to have it at the arena because I still wanted to bring something cool to the city, but I know u guys werent feelin it. Dont even trip!! Heres the good news. Im bringing the fest back next year, hopefully w some of the same line up and it will be in an outdoor venue. Only thing is, it might have to be over an hour outside of Cleveland. I saw some people say they dont mind the drive if I did make it outside of the city, so let me know ur feedback yall! I doubt the city will approve anything in the city, but Moon Man’s Landing is not dead! And we will find a better place for u all to have an epic time at. Promise. Big bro got u.

Kid Cudi’s musical career has seen its share of ups and downs, and while the multi-talent previously announced his plans to retire, he’s coming through with another album for us soon. He announced the title of his upcoming project, INSANO, while experimenting with a new sound on his “Porsche Topless” single. Since then, Cudi has steadily shared more updates with fans, even dropping a major one while performing at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash event.

“We got some new joints on this new album, ‘INSANO’ coming out later on in a couple months,” the How To Make It An America actor told his audience. By “we,” he meant The Scotts, consisting of him and Travis Scott, who previously found success with their self-titled single in 2020. After that track blew up they had plans to release a joint album. However, it never came to be as Cudi ultimately declared that “the moment has passed” when answering questions about the LP in 2022.

Travis Scott is Working with His Idol Once Again

At Summer Smash the 39-year-old was sure to give the Houston native his flowers. “You know I feel like why I’m doing these shows right now, I gotta be out here repping for my guy and this s**t is for Trav,” Cudi declared. As HipHopDX reports, “Mr. Rager” has hinted that his next project could be his last under his stage moniker. In addition to that, he also believes that it has the potential to be the “album of the year,” if his predictions are accurate, that is.

Excitement is high for Kid Cudi’s INSANO project, no doubt about it, but what’s really got hip-hop head’s buzzing is Travis Scott’s UTOPIA. Kid Cudi has a lot on his plate right now. The rapper shared his new single called “Porsche Topless” to kick off a new era. An album, a clothing line, and a movie are apparently on the way as well. Today (June 15), he announced the lineup for the second annual Moon Man’s Landing festival.

Taking place on August 19 at Cleveland, Ohio’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, the festival will have Lil Uzi Vert, Coi Leray, $uicideboy$, Bashfortheworld, Siena Bella, and Chelsea Pastel. Find ticket information here.

Last year’s festival had Playboi Carti, Haim, Toliver, Dominic Fike, Pusha T, Jaden, and 070 Shake.

In September, Cudi said that he was stepping back from music to focus on other things. “I think I’m going to take a step back from the Kid Cudi stuff and focus a lot more on developing my own things,” he said. “Writing — whether it’s movies or TV shows — producing things, putting stuff together. Just really getting my production company [Mad Solar] up to a place where, in the next three or four years, we’re a household name. I really have goals. We’re off to a great start with the documentary, X, Pearl, and now, Entergalactic. I mean, we have four bangers so far, so I just want to see what else we can do and keep going.”

Last year, the inaugural Moon Man’s Landing festival faced some controversy. It all began when Kid Cudi removed producer Mike Dean from the lineup. Dean took to social media to express his disappointment, suggesting that he was removed due to jealousy. “Dickhead canceled me just from jealousy. Just because I was on tour with The Weeknd,” he wrote. “Also there’s more people in a half full stadium when I play than when Mid plays the small arenas,” the producer said. Despite the incident, Dean continued to work on his own projects and dismissed the situation as “baby kid baby sh*t.”

Mike Dean is known for his work with artists like Kanye West and Travis Scott. He had been touring with The Weeknd at the time. He further criticized Kid Cudi on Twitter as time went on. Kid Cudi Got Upset And Called Out Apple Music Over A ‘Really Stressful’ Problem With ‘Porsche Topless’

Kid Cudi just returned with his new single “Porsche Topless.” It arrived after he said that “so much” was coming — an album in the fall, a clothing line, a movie.

Unfortunately, it looks like there was an issue with “Porsche Topless” that he had to address on Twitter — Apple Music put the wrong lyrics to go with the song.

“Hey Guys @AppleMusic,” he tweeted, “I put in the time to write out all my lyrics and send them to u. Its really stressful to see you guys just make up whatever lyrics you want and not include the proper lyrics that were given to you. Please fix PORSCHE TOPLESS so my fans have the correct lyrics. Thanx! Scott.”

Luckily, Apple’s DJ Reflex fixed it soon afterward.

It was revealed in April that Cudi would be starring in and co-producing Hell Naw, Sony Pictures’ “action horror-comedy” produced by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. “This movie has been five years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*ck you up in all the best ways.
