Victor Wembanyama’s Agent Dismisses Weight Concerns

The Spurs have shut down Victor Wembanyama after two games at the NBA Summer League. The #1 overall pick struggled offensively in his debut, scoring just nine points. However, he still had a strong showing elsewhere on the court with eight rebounds (all defensive) and five blocks. He bounced back in his second game, earning a double-double with 27 points and 12 rebounds. However, it was later reported that Wembanyama would be kept off the court for the rest of the Summer League. In an interview, Wembanyama said that the rest of the offseason would be “100% basketball” as he prepares for the start of his rookie season.

However, many questions remain about whether Wembanyama can live up to the hype, especially when he takes on the NBA proper. One of the biggest questions concerns his physicality. Wembanyama is officially measured at 7″4 and 209 lbs. Especially during his debut, it was clear that Wembanyama struggled to contend with heavier, more physical players. That has led a number of pundits to suggest that if Wenbanyama wants to succeed in the NBA, he’s going to need to add some weight. However, it’s not an avenue shared by Wembanyama’s camp.

Speaking to ESPN‘s Marc J. Spears, Bouna Ndiaye dismissed claims that Wenbayama’s weight could be an issue. “People are wrong. We’re not focused at all on weights. I don’t want to put weight on his body. We’re going to fight to not put weight on his body. Weight on his body [is] a big mistake. We focus on strength, core. We were very pleased that he linked up [with Kareem Abdul-] Jabbar who played until [41] years old. I’m very glad they, they connected because [they] have a similar body type. Kareem was not heavy. Victor is more mobile, gaudier, and taller than Kareem. So, that difference in height is a challenge and is something that we are working on every day. Making him heavy? We don’t want to do that.”

Kareem but with even more defense is a very fitting comparison. Wembanyama, with his wholly unique skillset, has the opportunity to redefine the league. Maybe he’s not going to match Kareem’s rookie ppg of 28.8 but Wembanyama will almost certainly supplement any scoring deficit with defensive prowess. Wenbanyama could become just the third player to win Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in their career. However, Kareem still played at 225 lbs, 14 lbs heavier than Wembanyama’s listed weight.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Explains Why He Didn’t Support Shaq At First

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the best players in the entire history of the NBA. Throughout his career, he was able to reach a plethora of heights. Overall, he finished his career as the league’s all-time leading scorer. More recently, this record was broken by LeBron, however, this does not take away from Kareem’s legend. He is still a top-three player ever, and if you know anything about basketball, then you respect Abdul-Jabbar for all that he accomplished. He was a trailblazer who remains highly respected by all.

Interestingly enough, much has been made of his relationship with another Lakers legend, Shaquille O’Neal. The night that LeBron broke the record, Kareem was on the NBA On TNT broadcast. During the interview with the Inside The NBA crew, Abdul-Jabbar cleared the air with Shaq over rumors that they didn’t like each other. Overall, it was a touching moment as Kareem praised Shaq for all that he did. Subsequently, Shaq did the same noting that he always looked up to the Lakers legend.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Talks Shaq

During an interview with Clutch Points over All-Star weekend, Abdul-Jabbar explained the origins of the Shaq beef rumors. Simply, Kareem didn’t initially support Shaq because he wanted the big man to become the best version of himself first. “I made up for a lot of time with Shaquille yesterday,” Kareem revealed. “He interviewed me, you know, we just got a lot of things straight. He used to think I hated him and that was never the case. I was waiting for him to reach his potential before I could support him. I didn’t want to support when he was just a [young guy]. He and Kobe got together and changed everybody’s idea of what he was possible of doing.”

Now that the two have touched base, fans can finally put all of the rumors and theories to bed. These two men are legends of not just the Lakers, but the NBA as a whole. It would have been a true shame if they did, indeed, not like each other. That said, let us know your thoughts on the situation, in the comments below. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Speaks On LeBron Breaking His Record

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the greatest players in the entire history of the NBA. Overall, many have him as a top-three player ever. In these lists, he is right behind the likes of both LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Although he has six rings to LeBron’s four, there is this consensus that James has had a better career. This is especially true now that LeBron has surpassed Kareem on the all-time scorer’s list. James broke the record only a few weeks ago, and it was an incredible feat that no one ever thought he would accomplish.

Subsequently, there has been chatter about whether or not Kareem is upset with James taking the record. After all, Abdul-Jabbar has been quite critical of LeBron in the past. Although these issues are purely political, there were some fans who couldn’t help but come up with their own theories. During All-Sar weekend, Abdul-Jabbar was able to clear the air on the matter. Below, you can see that the NBA legend spoke with Clutch Points about the record. Overall, he seems to be very much at peace with it.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Speaks

“Well, I was glad that I could be there and demonstrate,” Kareem explained. “It wasn’t a problem. I was happy to hand the record over to him. I guess that was symbolic in the handing in the ball.” Kareem had held the record for 40 years, and it was largely thought that it could not be broken. However, LeBron has showcased some of the most impressive longevity in NBA history. He is still averaging close to 30 points per game, in his 20th season. That said, he will likely become the first player to eclipse the 40,000-point mark.

Regardless of how Kareem Abdul-Jabbar may feel about LeBron, he cannot deny that James is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Even today, we are witnessing greatness from the Lakers star. It has been truly special to see, and we hope that James plays well into his 40s. Once Bronny gets into the league, it will truly be a full-circle moment. Be sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the sports world.

In the third quarter of the Lakers’ Tuesday night game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Bron elevated over the Thunder defense to drop in a fadeaway jumper and capture the record.

After getting the bucket, the game was paused, allowing King James to celebrate with his fans and close friends. Bron would also deliver a speech at the moment to the Lakers fans.

“I write ‘The Man In The Arena’ on my shoe every single night from Theodore Roosevelt,” James said to ESPN in postgame. “Tonight, I actually felt like I was sitting on top of the arena when that shot went in, and the roar from the crowd. I’m not sure if I would be able to feel that feeling again, unless it’s a game-winning Finals shot.

“Everything just stopped. It gave me an opportunity to embrace it and look around and seeing my family, the fans, my friends. It was pretty cool. I probably can count on my hands how many times I have cried in 20 years, either in happiness or in defeat. So that moment was one of them when I kind of teared up a little bit. It was ‘I can’t believe what’s going on’ tears.”

The moment was christened with a passing of the torch moment from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to James. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was also present for the moment.

Inside a sold-out Staples Center was Denzel Washington, JAY-Z, Bad Bunny, LL Cool J, Dwyane Wade, Magic Johnson, and more.

Unfortunately, the Lakers lost the game, but they will look to rectify that on Thursday when they host Giannis Antentokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Shaq & Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Share Heartfelt Exchange

Shaq and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are two of the greatest centers to ever play in the NBA. Overall, they are considered to be top five players in the history of the league, although Kareem more so than Shaq. Either way, there is no doubt that these two men are legends in their own right. They both played for the Lakers, and they both won a ton of championships with the franchise. However, there was seemingly this sense that Kareem and Shaq had beef during his time in L.A. It was one of those narratives that could never be confirmed, although it certainly weighed on the big man.

As for Kareem, he was in Los Angeles last night as he watched LeBron try and break his scoring record. James was just 36 points away from the record, and fans were skeptical as to whether or not he would do it. In the end, however, James was able to come through with a special game. He managed to tally 38 points and broke the record at the end of the third quarter. As you can imagine, it was a very special moment in the arena.

Shaq & Kareem Speak

Following the match, Shaq and Kareem got to speak together as part of a post-game segment on TNT. During this segment, Kareem addressed Shaq and revealed to him that he never meant to diss him during his time with the Lakers. In fact, Kareem praised the NBA legend for his dominance during that era. Subsequently, Shaq gave some praise right back to The Captain, making for a very sweet moment between the two. Kareem even told Shaq to continue representing the beautiful game. Overall, if you are a Lakers fan, you couldn’t help but be touched by this moment.

Abdul-Jabbar is now second on the all-time scoring list, which is going to be hard to get used to. For decades, Kareem held a record that many thought would never be broken. Now, however, LeBron holds the title and he will likely hold that record for decades as well. By the time everything is said and done, James could have upwards of 42-45,000 points.

LeBron James Officially Breaks NBA Scoring Record: Watch

LeBron James has been chasing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record for a minute now. Overall, this is one of those records that was certainly going to catapult him past Michael Jordan, at least in some people’s eyes. This is one of those records that you have to respect, and James was inching closer and closer throughout the season. Moreover, over the past few weeks, there has been an abundance of fanfare in regard to this record. People wanted to see him break it, and there were all sorts of takes on when he would be able to get it done.

This week, the Lakers were set to play the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as the Milwaukee Bucks. Last night was the game against the Thunder, and he needed 36 points to eclipse the record set by Kareem. However, 36 is six points above LeBron’s season average, so there was this sense that he would get close but would ultimately break it on Thursday. Although, LeBron clearly had other plans as he surpassed everyone’s expectations.

LeBron James Does It

In the video clip above, you can see James break the record in spectacular fashion. Following a 20-point first half, James went off in the third quarter and nabbed 16 points to break the record. Consequently, the game was halted so that James could get his flowers. Overall, it was a truly beautiful moment, and you can tell that it all meant a lot to LeBron. His family was in attendance, and they could not have been happier for him. Additionally, the Crypto.com Arena was on its feet the entire time, and it made for a spectacular atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Lakers lost the game in the end, which ultimately put a damper on the event.

Regardless, LeBron is now the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. Furthermore, he has made it clear that he has a few years left in him. That means he will likely retire with over 40,000 points to his name. It’s safe to say that his record will not be beaten for a very long time. Perhaps it will even stand for 40 years, just like Kareem’s did. Let us know what you thought of LeBron’s record, in the comments down below.
