Caitlin Clark Shatters WBB Scoring Record, Sports World Gives Iowa Star Her Flowers

It was only fitting that Caitlin Clark hit a signature logo three to seal break Kelsey Plum‘s NCAA women’s basketball scoring record. Iowa opened their Big Ten matchup against Michigan with Clark eight points shy of the record. Clark scored all eight of Iowa’s opening points to pause the game less than two-and-a-half minutes after it started to let her soak in her achievement. However, she wasn’t finished. Clark scored a career-high 49 points as Iowa routed the Wolverines 106-89, shattering Plum’s record in the process.

Carver-Hawkeye Arena was packed for the history-making moment, with thousands more watching from home. As Clark shattered the record, praise from across the sporting world poured in. “Wow!! Only fitting you break it this way!! Congrats Big Time👏🏽👏🏽🫡 @CaitlinClark22,” wrote Hawks star Trae Young. “Congratulations @CaitlinClark22 KEEP BREAKING RECORDS & MAKING HER-STORY! 🖤💛🔥,” added LSU’s Angel Reese. However, the praise wasn’t limited to the realm of basketball. Both President Barack Obama and NFL GOAT Tom Brady also sent their praise to Clark.

What’s Next For Caitlin Clark?

The record might be hers, but Clark is far from done. Iowa are second in the Big Ten standings with a 12-2 conference record. They have four games remaining in the regular season, including conference-deciding matchups against No. 14 Indiana and No. 2 Ohio State. After that comes the Big Ten Tournament and March Madness. With Clark expected to become the No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, it would be only fitting for her to end her college career by avenging last year’s National Championship defeat.

However, there is another record well within Clark’s sight. Thanks to her massive game against Michigan, Clark is now just 98 points behind the all-time NCAA scoring record. That has stood since 1970 when LSU legend Pete Maravich ended his college career with 3,667 points. Given that Clark is averaging 32.8 points a night and has four regular season games left, she could beat Pistol Pete’s by the end of the season with ease.

Kelsey Plum Prematurely Congratulates Caitlin Clark On Setting NCAA Scoring Record

WNBA star Kelsey Plum had something of a social media gaffe when she congratulated Caitlin Clark for breaking her collegiate scoring record before Clark had actually set the record. “@CaitlinClark22 Congratulations on the record, and really your entire season! I appreciate what you do for the game, much respect and love! See you at the next level, hopefully sooner than later 😜🤞🏼,” Plum wrote on social media. Clark fell eight points short of the record despite opening Iowa’s game against Nebraska with 31 points through three quarters. However, Clark scored no points in the fourth as Iowa fell apart and allowed Nebraska to steal a shock victory against the Big Ten frontrunners. Plum later acknowledged her mistake, tweeting out “My bad, next game”.

However, this means that Clark will now likely set the record in front of a home crowd against Michigan on Thursday. Furthermore, Clark is now just 148 points shy of breaking the all-time NCAA record set by Pete Maravich at LSU in the late 1960s. With five games left in the Big Ten regular season, Clark’s 32.1 points a game could mean she breaks Maravich’s record in the season finale against Ohio State.

Caitlin Clark Still Coy About Draft Declaration

However, despite her historic season, no one is quite sure if Clark will be headed to the WNBA Draft this year. Clark is the presumptive No. 1 pick in the draft and would join former South Carolina standout Aliyah Boston in Indiana if chosen. However, before the season, Clark revealed that her mind wasn’t fully made up yet. “I’m going to know when I need to know. I think it’s very similar to my college decision. It’s like I’m in the recruiting process again. It’s really not something I think about every day or let weigh on me. I’m focused on helping this team be the best they can be. The biggest thing is I’m just going to trust my gut. I’m not going to do a lot of research on what’s better. I’m going to trust my gut and go with that,” Clark said.

Clark, who turns 22 in February 2024, is part of the final class of players who can declare for a fifth year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She has been one of the best, if not the best, players in women’s college basketball during her time at Iowa. She won National Player of the Year last year and was second in scoring average as well as first in assists and made threes. Players have until 48 hours after their final game of the season to declare for the draft.

Mercy Miller, the son of rapper Master P, broke a school record as he put 68 points for Note Dame High School in a game this week. Miller outscored the entirety of the opposing team as the defending state champions routed Oakwood 104-44. Miller is a four-star recruit in next year’s cycle and has committed to play at Houston. Hercy began his college career at Tennessee State before transferring to Louisville last season. He made 27 appearances off the bench for the Cardinals.

Mercy was a key player in Notre Dame’s 2023 championship, putting up 17 points and 9 rebounds in the title game. Notre Dame is 6-0 to being the 23/24 season and are next in action on December 19. Bryce James, Miller’s Ex-Teammate, Visits Ohio State

Meanwhile, Bryce James appears to be considering Ohio State as a collegiate option. James, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025, shared photos of a trip to Columbus back in October. Furthermore, he was spotted speaking with men’s basketball head coach Chris Holtmann on the sideline of Ohio State’s football win over Maryland. Ohio State has since made James an offer, joining Duquense as the only schools to currently extend the younger James an offer.

However, James has been indecisive about his junior year of high school. In August, he announced that he was transferring from Sierra Canyon to Campbell High School. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Speaks On LeBron Breaking His Record

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the greatest players in the entire history of the NBA. Overall, many have him as a top-three player ever. In these lists, he is right behind the likes of both LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Although he has six rings to LeBron’s four, there is this consensus that James has had a better career. This is especially true now that LeBron has surpassed Kareem on the all-time scorer’s list. James broke the record only a few weeks ago, and it was an incredible feat that no one ever thought he would accomplish.

Subsequently, there has been chatter about whether or not Kareem is upset with James taking the record. After all, Abdul-Jabbar has been quite critical of LeBron in the past. Although these issues are purely political, there were some fans who couldn’t help but come up with their own theories. During All-Sar weekend, Abdul-Jabbar was able to clear the air on the matter. Below, you can see that the NBA legend spoke with Clutch Points about the record. Overall, he seems to be very much at peace with it.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Speaks

“Well, I was glad that I could be there and demonstrate,” Kareem explained. “It wasn’t a problem. I was happy to hand the record over to him. I guess that was symbolic in the handing in the ball.” Kareem had held the record for 40 years, and it was largely thought that it could not be broken. However, LeBron has showcased some of the most impressive longevity in NBA history. He is still averaging close to 30 points per game, in his 20th season. That said, he will likely become the first player to eclipse the 40,000-point mark.

Regardless of how Kareem Abdul-Jabbar may feel about LeBron, he cannot deny that James is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Even today, we are witnessing greatness from the Lakers star. It has been truly special to see, and we hope that James plays well into his 40s. Once Bronny gets into the league, it will truly be a full-circle moment. Be sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the sports world.

Fat Joe Believes Michael Jordan Is Still The GOAT Over LeBron James

Fat Joe just cast his vote in the long-standing GOAT debate between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Of course, it’s a difficult question to ask, but still a fun one to answer for millions of NBA fans. Moreover, Complex caught up with the New York MC for his take on the debate at the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game. While LeBron just became the NBA’s all-time scorer, Joey Crack still stood by Jordan’s legacy in the game. Even though he made his opinion clear, he still showed a lot of love to the current Laker.

“MJ’s the GOAT,” the “Lean Back” star expressed on the red carpet of the big game. “We love LeBron. LeBron is the greatest, at this time. Actually, we worship LeBron. We love him to death, but MJ’s the GOAT.” However, Complex asked other celebrities like Cordae, who had a different perspective. “I wasn’t alive when MJ was playing,” the North Carolina rapper explained. “So I can only speak on what I’ve seen and LeBron has been doing the damn thing.” Even LeBron himself would agree. Of course, Joe’s one of the most prolific Air Jordan collectors in the rap game, so his take is unsurprising.

Fat Joe Crowns Michael Jordan The GOAT

Meanwhile, other hip-hop figures congratulated James on passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league’s all-time scorer. For example, Jay-Z gave LeBron his flowers in a tribute video played by TNT. Not only did the arguably greatest rapper of all time acknowledge the NBA star’s 20-year career, but also its unique legend status. “Being able to perform at a high level for a long period of time, you know, that’s excellence,” Hov remarked. “Long after you’ve gone, people, they’re looking at your name. That’s what greatness is. There’s not many you can compare LeBron to. 19-time All-Star, a remarkable feat. The all-time scorer, all-time. I mean, what can you say?

“I’ve known LeBron since he was in high school,” he continued. “There was a lot of talk about how amazing he was. We were convinced this guy was super special. He’s been through plenty iterations of the game, and each era, he’s been the best. The chosen one, that’s it.” Regardless of Jay’s words, let us know where you fall in that debate in the comments below. LeBron James Posts Photo Dump After Record-Breaking Night

LeBron James is one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. Overall, his status as an all time great was cemented two nights ago as he was able to finally break the all-time scoring record. This is one of those records that is almost impossible to break. However, with his longevity and consistency, LeBron was able to do what many once thought to be completely and utterly not possible. Even if you hate James, you can’t deny his greatness and what he means to the NBA as a whole. With this new record, he has only helped elevate himself amongst the game’s legends.

Going into the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron needed just 36 points to surpass Kareem. Many felt like this would not be possible and that he would just get the record tonight. Instead, James played an amazing game where he picked up 38 points. In the end, this was more than enough to put him over the edge that he needed. It was a truly historic night and James had all of the support in the world. Overall, it could have brought a tear to your eyes.

Michael Jordan Delivers A Message To LeBron James

In the eyes of most NBA fans, Michael Jordan is the GOAT of basketball. However, there has been a renewed debate as it pertains to who truly deserves GOAT status. This is due to the fact that LeBron James has been playing so well at the age of 38. In fact, just last night, James was able to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for first all-time on the scorer’s list. Overall, this is a truly incredible record and it is almost unfathomable that James was able to break it. However, he managed to do it, and he certainly deserves props for this special achievement.

Heading into his game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James was 36 points away from the record. Most analysts had him breaking the record on Thursday. After all, this would be fitting as the Lakers were playing at home against the Bucks, who just so happen to be Kareem’s first team. Instead, LeBron decided to go for it right away, and in the end, his efforts paid off. Now, LeBron can continue building upon this record for years to come.

Michael Jordan Speaks

With LeBron becoming the league’s time leading scorer, Michael Jordan has decided to weigh in. According to Mike J. Babcock of TMZ, Jordan has issued a short message to LeBron. Overall, Jordan was congratulatory in his messaging and we’re sure LeBron will appreciate that. “Congratulations to LeBron on this incredible achievement. It’s a testament to his hard work, longevity, and his great skill,” Jordan said. MJ is one of the most competitive players in the history of the NBA, so we’re sure there is a part of him that would have loved to have beaten the record. However, it is going to be LeBron’s for many years to come.

At this point, the GOAT debate is just simply too close to call. If LeBron is somehow able to win two NBA titles in the next few years, then perhaps he can finally take that crown from Jordan. Otherwise, many fans will continue to give MJ the edge. No matter what, there is no doubt that both of these individuals deserve their respect as the two greatest to ever do it.

Shannon Sharpe Reacts To LeBron’s Scoring Record

Shannon Sharpe has been one of LeBron James’ biggest supporters over the last few years. Whenever he goes on Undisputed, he is defending James’ honor against Skip Bayless. Overall, Sharpe and LeBron have developed into great friends, and they continue to support one another. This has been especially true over the last few months. Mostly, this is because of the fact that LeBron has been chasing the NBA’s all-time scoring record. Although this record has been held for 39 years, James was on the verge of breaking it last night.

Subsequently, Shannon made sure to attend the Lakers’ match against the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. Going into this game, LeBron was 36 points away from the record. Most people felt as though he would break the record on Thursday. However, James clearly had other plans as he shattered the record by the end of the third quarter. Overall, it was a truly incredible accomplishment that was celebrated by everyone on the floor. For LeBron and everyone in attendance, this was an incredibly emotional moment that will never be forgotten.

Shannon Sharpe Speaks

During today’s episode of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe was able to give his entire reaction to LeBron’s record. In the clip above, Sharpe went in-depth on why this is so impressive. Firstly, Sharpe noted that it is LeBron’s longevity that will never be matched. Secondly, Sharpe believes that LeBron has yet to fall off from his game. Although he may not be getting better, he certainly isn’t getting any worse. Additionally, Sharpe explained how averaging 27 points per game over a 20-year career is something that ought to be celebrated for years to come.

On the flip side of this, his broadcast partner Skip Bayless isn’t going to be crowning LeBron as the GOAT anytime soon. However, Bayless did note that this record is the ultimate testament to LeBron’s longevity. What James has been able to do is impressive, and even though Skip is a hater, he can’t deny what LeBron has done here. Hopefully, James can eventually get to 40,000 points and beyond before his career is over.

LeBron James Breaks Scoring Record, NBA Twitter Reacts

Regardless, James has accomplished a ton throughout his career, which just goes to show how amazing of a player he truly is.

Over the past few weeks, LeBron has been staring down yet another achievement. Of course, we are talking about the scoring record. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar set the scoring record back in 1984.
