Master P’s Son Mercy Drops 68 Points In High School Basketball Game

Mercy Miller, the son of rapper Master P, broke a school record as he put 68 points for Note Dame High School in a game this week. Miller outscored the entirety of the opposing team as the defending state champions routed Oakwood 104-44. Miller is a four-star recruit in next year’s cycle and has committed to play at Houston. ESPN ranks him as the No. 26 point guard in the nation. His brother, Hercy, is a junior at Louisville. However, Hercy has played in just one game for the Cardinals this season. Hercy began his college career at Tennessee State before transferring to Louisville last season. He made 27 appearances off the bench for the Cardinals.

Mercy was a key player in Notre Dame’s 2023 championship, putting up 17 points and 9 rebounds in the title game. Notre Dame is 6-0 to being the 23/24 season and are next in action on December 19. Miller’s big night improved his season average to 36 points and 11 rebounds a game. His father has since proudly made several posts on social media highlighting his son’s achievement.

Bryce James, Miller’s Ex-Teammate, Visits Ohio State

Meanwhile, Bryce James appears to be considering Ohio State as a collegiate option. James, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025, shared photos of a trip to Columbus back in October. Furthermore, he was spotted speaking with men’s basketball head coach Chris Holtmann on the sideline of Ohio State’s football win over Maryland. Ohio State has since made James an offer, joining Duquense as the only schools to currently extend the younger James an offer.

However, James has been indecisive about his junior year of high school. In August, he announced that he was transferring from Sierra Canyon to Campbell High School. However, just a few weeks later, he announced that he would be instead joining Miller at Notre Dame. That didn’t last as in late November, James announced that he was transferring back to Sierra Canyon.

A.J. Dybansta Reclassifies To Class Of 2025

Elite high school basketball prospect A.J. Dybansta has announced that he is reclassifying to the 2025 recruiting class. Dybansta, previously the #1 prospect in the 2026 class, is a 16-year basketball prodigy playing in California. He led this summer’s Nike Peach Jam in points per game despite playing up an age group. Dybansta is considered on of the best high school prospects regardless of class and will now be eligible for the NBA in 2026. He will battle Cameron Boozer, son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer, for the #1 pick in the 2026 draft.

Dybansta already has eight college offers – Alabama, Boston College, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Providence, UConn, and Washington. He also averaged 13.7 points per game at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship earlier this year. Among college and NBA scouts, Dybansta is a must-have prospect. “Dybantsa is more in the mold of what the elite NBA players typically look like — versatile guards in that 6-foot-6 [to] 6-foot-8 range that you build your franchise around. Kobe [Bryant], [Tracy] McGrady, [Grant] Hill, [Jayson] Tatum, Kawhi [Leonard], Paul George. He has the potential to be in that mold,” one scout told ESPN over the summer.

Dybansta Joins Cooper Flagg In Reclassification

However, Dybansta is not the only hyped prospect who has reclassified this year. Cooper Flagg, originally of the 2025 class, reclassified to the class of 2024. That made Flagg, widely considered the best high school player in the country, the odds-on favorite to be the #1 pick in 2025. Flagg is an elite rim defender who also has the offensive capabilities to be major problem and the NCAA and pro levels. Born and raised in Maine, Flagg currently plays in Florida.

Duke are considered the favorites to land Flagg. However, he has also received offers from elite programs such as Michigan and UCLA. College hoops blue bloods such as Kansas and Kentucky are also believed to be recruiting him. Flagg’s decision will likely be one of the must-watch events of the 2024 National Signing Day at the start of next year.

High School Basketball Prospect Caleb White Dies After Sudden Collapse

Caleb White, a highly-regarded basketball prospect from Alabama, has died after collapsing during a workout at Pinson Valley High School. White was ESPN‘s #43 point guard in the Class of 2024 but fell outside the network’s Top 100 players in the class as a whole. He was also listed as the #3 prospect in the state of Alabama. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the 17-year-old’s cause of death.

“He was a phenomenal player,” Richele Crawford, a fellow Pinson Valley senior, told WMBA. “It was mesmerizing to watch him. He was fun to watch all the time. He was one of the kids more on the goofy side. I’ll forever remember him on and off the court smiling.” White’s childhood friend Arnold Thomas also lamented the loss. “Today was just heartbreaking. I can’t even put words together for it. He was a great kid,” he told WMBA.

Caleb White’s Death Linked To Bronny James

Other schools in the area also shared their condolences. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Caleb White, his family, and the @PinsonValley Community,” nearby Mountain Brook High School wrote on social media. “Phenomenal player but more importantly a great person that’s gone [too] soon.” Of course, many have pointed to the similarities between this case and the non-fatal cardiac arrest suffered by Bronny James last month. James continues to recover in private after collapsing at a USC training session in Los Angeles. Despite reportedly recovering well, James did recently pay a visit to the Mayo Clinic for further testing. James is the second USC player in the last two years to suffer a cardiac arrest.

However, many people online have decided to utilize this tragic event for their own personal gain. A number of anti-vax accounts have posted about White’s death, claiming without evidence that it is a result of the COVID-19 vaccine. It’s a disgusting and predatory response to the tragic death of a 17-year-old. At this time, no information about White death’s has been available, with an autopsy scheduled in order to try and provide some clues to what caused this terrible occurrence.

Cam’Ron Defends Not Passing To Ma$e in 1992 Basketball Game

Cam’Ron and Ma$e are old friends. In fact, their friendship can be traced all the way back to high school. During those formative years, the two played varsity basketball at Manhattan Center High School. However, in one 1992 game, Cam’Ron declined to pass with 4.1 seconds left, instead unsuccessfully attempting the game-winning shot himself.

Why are we talking about this? Because apparently, Ma$e is still a little salty about this moment. Ma$e believes that Cam’Ron should have passed. Additionally, footage of the two of them discussing whether Cam’Ron should have dished out the assist was posted to the It Is What It Is Instagram page, sparking a debate amongst the fans as well.

Cam’Ron Defends Shot-Taking Decision

Cam’Ron posted a clip of him and his It Is What It Is co-host debating whether Cam’Ron should have passed during a 1992 Public School Athletics League basketball game. Cam’Ron’s post included the caption, “Everyone said I shoulda passed to murder @rsvpmase on the @itiswhatitis_talk page, ok fine let me state my case. I make that shot our careers woulda been over at this point in life Lol. Now Look we getting more money then ever. 🤷🏾‍♂️ and it was only 4.1 seconds when I got the rebound. What y’all think? 🤦🏾‍♂️.”

Furthermore, Cam’Ron went in to play-by-play mode to explain why he didn’t pass. “Behind the back, nah I ain’t goin’ that way. Lose it, get it back, and 1. Ah! Tough! I come around right here. Dish. ‘Bout my eighth assist of the game. Mid-range game, yeah. So right here, it’s Four point two seconds left. I don’t know I’m getting the rebound. Four seconds left. Corey Wright misses, it bounces off front rim. I get it, look, four, three, two, one, I don’t see nobody to pass. Murda mad at me. He throw a tantrum. I was hot. Now look, I make that shot, that means you go to college, I go to college, we go to the league overseas, whatever. Our career would have been over! You wouldn’t have sold 10 million records, I wouldn’t have sold the records. I think I made the right choice. Hit or miss. He still mad at me about this shit. Till this day! Murda we still professionals!”

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Bryce James is set to transfer away from Sierra Canyon at the end of the school year. James will transfer to Campbell Hall, a private school in Studio City about 19 miles. Campbell Hall has an elite basketball prestige, and James will be joining a team that already includes the son of former NBA star Richard Hamilton. Furthermore, all three NBA-playing Holiday Brothers graduated from Campbell.

“I want Bryce, if I get to coach him, to be Bryce,” Campbell head coach David Grace told ESPN. “Because that’s special, and I want him to get the most out of his experience here at Campbell Hall and grow. He’s going to have way more than just me helping, but I’m going to try to do my part. I understand where he’s coming from to a point. I’m not him. My family wasn’t in that spotlight, but I’ve been around the spotlight and I can share my experiences, or I can just understand his experiences. That’s where I’ll grow as a coach.” Are you excited to see Bryce’s next steps? Let us know in the comments.
