Is Kanye West Involved In The Netflix Documentary ‘Jeen-Yuhs’?

The demand for more Kanye content seems to be a self-generating beast. But one of the latest projects is a Netflix documentary called Jeen-Uhs that takes a look at exactly what goes on behind the scenes with this hip-hop star. The documentary was first announced in September of last year, and since then, Kanye himself has had a lot to say about the creative film project that seeks to portray some of the biggest moments and pivotal releases in his expansive career. Although Kanye isn’t creatively involved with the project himself, in true Ye form, he’s been very vocal with his own opinions about what should go down in the visual feature. All the headlines have lead so many people to wonder, will the creators give him a say?

Is Kane West Involved In The Netflix Documentary Jeen-Yuhs?
From the start, the documentary has been a Netflix produced project about Kanye, not by him. It is directed by the duo, Clarence Simmons and Chike Ozah, aka Coodie & Chike, who have been working on it for close to twenty years. Though plenty of incredibly famous and powerful stars end up in control of their own film projects — Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance being a perfect recent example — so far, Kanye has not been given creative control in this visual. At least, not that the creative team involved have let on.

In a recent interview with The New York Times about the three-episode project, Coodie spoke on just that. “He said, ‘Let’s me and you do it,’ and I told him, ‘You have to trust me on this,’” Coodie told The Times. “Meaning no creative control. I said, “It would not be authentic if you have it.” He got all of that. And that was it.” That doesn’t mean Ye hasn’t floated plenty of ideas out into the ether anyway. His latest idea? That Drake should narrate the whole project. He’s also said before that he’s going to demand a final edit over the film. That’s probably going over about as well as the truckload of roses he sent to his estranged ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, on Valentine’s Day this year.

Kanye Wants ‘Donda 2’ To Soundtrack ‘Major Moments’ Like Funerals, Childbirth, Graduation Or Weddings

Now that Kanye is back in a prolific phase, releasing Donda last year and almost immediately announcing a follow-up, he’s got a whole new slew of producers and collaborators in the mix. That’s a good thing, Ye’s taste level in other artists has always been one of his strong suits — except for that whole Marilyn Manson fiasco — and now one of his new producers, Digital Nas, has spoken to Rolling Stone about his time working with Yeezy on Donda 2.

Digital Nas, aka Nasir Pemberton, said he initially traveled from his home in Atlanta to work with Kanye in LA, but ended up moving to the city of angels in the end. “I went out there on a whim, no expectations,” the 23-year-old told Rolling Stone. “Then it turned into me living out there. By the fifth day, my manager gets an email like, ‘Hey, we want Nas out here indefinitely.’ And we’ve been just rocking ever since.”

Not a bad way to kick off your career! As for what fans can hope for from Donda 2, Kanye is planning and hoping to have it soundtrack major moments in his listener’s lives. “These are the directives for the album: ‘If it cannot be played at a funeral, childbirth, graduation, a wedding, it will not be on our record,’” Nas said. “We learned a lot from Donda 1. We learned what hit. We learned what was sticking. So we took from there. It has to be able to be played at four major moments in people’s lives. That’s crazy, right?”

Check out the entire interview here, and keep an eye out for Donda 2, which drops in just a few weeks on February 22.

Kanye’s ‘Heaven And Hell’ Video Is Essentially An Eerie Gap Commercial

In the newest phase of his career, Kanye has become more fashion-focused than ever before — and the music videos and live performances he’s released around his latest album reflect that. Considering Donda was unveiled over several different listening sessions, it makes sense that the artist now known simply as Ye is just getting around to introducing music videos for some of the project’s songs.

Tonight, he shared the video for Donda track “Heaven And Hell” as a traditional music video — albeit one where every faceless person in the video is wearing the black hoodie he designed for Gap — but also as a Gap ad itself, first aired on ESPN during the College Football National Championship game. If you’re interested in purchasing the hoodie, you can head to yeezygap.com, where you’ll be prompted to fill in your name, email and sizes. The hoodie currently comes in both adult and child sizes, and in either black and blue. It’s $80 for an adult and $60 for a child size.

Check out the full “Heaven And Hell” video above to get quite a few glimpses of the item. It might not be the puffer, but this looks like it could be another classic Kanye staple very soon.

Julia Fox Might Be Dating Kanye, But She’s A ‘Die-Hard, OG Fan’ Of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’

Now that Kanye West has finally moved on from his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, and is actively dating, things are getting interesting. Kim has been openly cavorting around with Pete Davidson for weeks now, so it’s only fair that Kanye head out on some dates himself — and his dates with actress Julia Fox are already turning heads (including her own).

But leave it to TMZ to determine the connection between Julia and Kim, and it turns out, Julia is a huge fan of Kim’s show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians. On the last episode of the 2021 season of her podcast, Forbidden Fruits With Julia Fox And Niki Takesh, Fox talks openly about being a “die-hard, OG fan” of the show, and had even brought up the Ye/Kim divorce in the episode, along with Kim dating Pete. “”Can we talk about the Kim and Kanye divorce? Wait, can we talk about Kim and Pete Davidson, though?” she said.

Later on, Julia also said that she’s been watching the show since it first began airing back in 2007 and called it “embarrassing” that she misses it now that the show has ended. The best part, though, is Julia said she was always rooting for the family: “it’s like you are happy for them when something good happens to them.” So if Kanye and Julia do turn serious, it sounds like there will be goodwill there already — at least on Julia’s side.

Kanye West Was In A Hotel Room With Two Mystery Brunettes Right Before His Date Night With Julia Fox

At first, it seemed like Kanye West was having trouble moving on from his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. For her part, Kim was immediately linked to Pete Davidson, and even though she opted to appear in a wedding dress as part of Kanye’s recent Donda spectacles, she made it clear reconciling wasn’t in the cards for her. And even though he recently shouted her out during his concert for Larry Hoover with Drake, he’s no longer acting like a married man.

In Miami for part of his surprise New Year’s Eve show with Future, Kanye was spotted with not one but two mystery brunettes in a hotel room on New Year’s Day. In a report from the The Daily Mail, photos of Yeezy and a woman in a crop top on a balcony indicated he had company ringing in 2022, and later another woman in a plunging top also appeared on the balcony.

But later that night, Ye was out with someone else — he was spotted by TMZ at Carbone with actress Julia Fox on what appeared to be a date. So single Kanye is definitely back in the building, no matter how he might still feel about the mother of his children. Let’s hope all this leads to some musical inspiration in the very near future.

Kanye And Future Threw A Last-Minute New Year’s Eve Party In Miami

While many artists were canceling their New Year’s Eve performances, like The Strokes, Flaming Lips, and LL Cool J, Kanye West was getting one together at the last minute. Along with Future, Kanye threw a NYE bash in Miami last night, with both rappers performing. The party was also hosted by Justin LaBoy, but details of the private show didn’t really hit the internet until Kanye posted it on his Instagram yesterday.

Dubbed New Year’s Eve Black Party, it’s worth noting that the event took place in the exact same city where Miley Cyrus was hosting a NYE special for NBC. Her co-host, Pete Davidson, has been linked with Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian lately, so it was perhaps another attempt by Kanye to get her attention. Lately, he’s made it known that he hopes the couple get back together. And, he also very recently purchased a home on the same street as his ex-wife. She did wear a wedding dress during one of his many Donda shows, so clearly they’re not on horrible terms, but the divorce does seem to be pretty final on her end. She reportedly has no desire to reconcile, so probably skipped both of the New Year’s Eve parties just to be safe.

DJ Envy Said He Thinks Kanye’s Team Is Partly To Blame For Enabling His ‘Clown’ Behavior

With the surprise release of Donda on Sunday, everyone is rushing to share their opinion on Kanye’s latest work. While the wisest among us like Questlove chided fans not to dole out hot takes when the album is barely 24 hours year old — and this might not even be the final product Kanye wanted to put out — others still can’t get over his actions outside of the music itself.

Charlamagne Tha God admitted he thought the record was a bit lackluster, but had thoughts on how to fix it, while his Breakfast Club co-host, DJ Envy, is still caught up on Ye’s past actions. He called Yeezy’s behavior over the last few months and years “clown behavior” and said he thinks the mega rapper’s team is partly to blame for enabling him.

“I called him a clown, and I still stand by that and I still mean that,” Envy began. “So many people called me and asked me why I felt that way, and I explained to them why I felt that way…. they asked me why do you think the people that I named — which was Pusha T, John Monopoly, Free and Boo were like that too — and I said it’s because I feel like you enable him to do it. You don’t stop him from doing the wild out stuff behind-the-scenes that is really disrespectful, and he should be humbled.”

Check out all of this thoughts above — including an admission that despite all that he still likes his Yeezy shoes — and our review of Donda here.

Trippie Redd Said He Didn’t Realize Drake Was Dissing Kanye On ‘Betrayal’

Unwittingly, Trippie Redd became involved with one of the longest cold wars in hip-hop — the one that continually flares up between Drake and Kanye. With Kanye gearing up to released his ever-evolving Donda project (which he now claims was put out without his approval), and Drake’s long-awaited Certified Lover Boy finally on the horizon, these two have reason to be going at each other again as they vie for the top spot in the genre. Meanwhile, Trippie was just stoked to release his latest album, Trip At Knight with a Drake feature on it.

When the song in question, “Betrayal,” dropped with Drizzy rapping: “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know / Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go,” he raps, which probably references Kanye’s age of 44, though his other GOOD Music rival, Pusha T, is also 44 years old. “Ye ain’t changin’ shi*t for me, it’s set in stone / Rollin’ stones, heavy stones (PinkGrillz) / Precious stone, let me make my presence known.”

Trippie, however, was completely in the dark as to the significance of the bars. “I thought he was talking about a strap or something, forty-five, forty-four,” he told 92.3 Real in an interview. “I didn’t know what he was talking about. It is what it is.”

Ariana Grande Clarified It’s Not Her Singing Background Vocals On ‘Donda’s Title Track

In the lengthy saga that has been the rollout for Kanye’s latest album, Donda, plenty of artists have been involved — in good ways and bad. While controversial features like Marilyn Manson and DaBaby have been the subject of much discussion, Ariana Grande fans were a little surprised to hear what sounded a lot like her vocals on the album’s title track when it finally dropped today.

But if you listen closely, you’ll hear slight differences that indicate it’s likely not Ari herself. First of all, she rarely AutoTuned and filters her voice to the point the female vocals on “Donda” have been altered — mostly because she simply doesn’t need to. It just hasn’t been her style in the past. And though there’s never been any public beef between Ari and Ye, they’ve never collaborated before or really been in the same realm, musically. Of course, they share a friend in Scooter Braun, but that’s about it.

All this to say, those vocals aren’t Ariana — and she confirmed as much on her Instagram Stories today, praising the actual featured artist, The Stalone, like the class act she is.

Instagram

“You sound beautiful @thestalone,” Ari wrote, putting the subject to bed once and for all. She’s too busy being a blissful newlywed to work on a Kanye timeline, anyway. Check out the song in question above if you haven’t heard it yet.

Evan Rachel Wood Responded To Kanye Featuring Marilyn Manson On ‘Donda’ With A Cover Song

When the news of allegations about Marilyn Manson’s abusive behavior began to break, it was his longtime partner Evan Rachel Wood who accused the artist of “horrifically” abusing and grooming her, opening the floodgates for more horror stories from women who had been involved with him over the years. Despite the influx of testimonials from women about Manson’s abuse filtering in over the last few months, or who knows, maybe because of them, Kanye chose to feature Manson on the latest version of his ever-evolving Donda project.

Of course, this choice to include Manson despite what survivors of his abuse have come forward with is a slap in the face to those women, and Wood made her position on the matter pretty clear this weekend. Posting a clip of herself covering the New Radical’s still-classic “You Get What You Give,” today she included the following caption along with her cover: “”You get what you give.” For my fellow survivors who got slapped in the face this week. I love you. Don’t give up. @zanecarney @bourbonroomhollywood @ftrlive #newradicals”

Kudos to Wood for both her courage in coming forward, and keeping herself calm in in the face of a pretty blatant, disrespectful move. Further kudos to her for nailing a difficult cover, check that out above.
