If you have not been paying attention JT of the rap duo City Girls lately, you may want to. The Miami, Florida rapper has taken it upon herself to forge a solo career and it has turned out to be a fantastic decision. Her last batch of singles, “Sideways,” “No Bars,” and “OKAY,” have been raking in some solid numbers. She even had a huge feature on Doechii’s recent single “Alter Ego” and she too is one TDE’s brightest stars. So, JT is certainly sitting pretty right now, but Asian Doll has come out of the woodwork to rain on her parade a bit.
The Neighborhood Talk posted a collage of tweets from the Dallas, Texas rapper who is seemingly always at the ready to take shots at someone. Over time, we have seen her go at Kash Doll, Scar Lip, DJ Akademiks, Jada Kingdom, just to name a few. JT is now in her crosshairs once again because Asian Doll is seemingly fed up with her being a copycat. She called her out for flaming her look back in the day but now rocking it after some time has passed.
“The industry is the only place where h*es will literally hate your style & a couple years later pop out with that same look ,” Doll said. She continued, “This b**** want my style so f***ing bad I might have to get back on my real DOLL S*** cause the same h*es talked about my boots is the same h*es falling on stage in big boots ” She even attached a video of JT falling on stage with massive boots on, to further drive her point home. Then, Asian Doll capped off her rant with one last message. “JT got my whole style idgaf what nobody say… That doll s*** been me h*es ain’t never been on that type of s***.”
What are your thoughts on Asian Doll saying JT stole her entire look and style as an artist? Do you think she has a point, or is she just looking to start something? Is JT becoming a star with her recent output? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. JT really stirred up more rap beef in 2024. The City Girls emcee dropped her solo single “Okay,” and fans have been trying to figure out who she’s targeting. “She ate crab legs, now her whole tooth missing,” she rapped. “Cheap a*s veneers, you stay talkin’ sh*t.” These lines are so specific that fans have been able to boil it down to two artists: Cardi B or Sukihana. The former hasn’t commended on the JT song, but Sukihana got tired of people tagging her on Instagram. She hopped on social media to set the record straight between her and JT.
Sukihana started her post by acknowledging that she did, in fact, break her tooth eating crab legs. “We all know I done broke my teeth on some crab legs,” she noted. It was the second part of JT’s line that led to her dismissing the theory. “I don’t talk sh*t about b*tches. I always show love,” she explained. “Never hate on a b*tch, never called a b*tch name.” Sukihana also pointed to the fact that she was just at JT’s birthday party in December. “I was at JT birthday party, it was hugs and giggles, so I don’t feel like she talking about me.”
Sukihana did admit that was dealing with legal troubles with “Okay” dropped, so she may have missed some crucial details. The rapper was arrested for possession of ecstasy with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver and possession of codeine with intent to sell and manufacture on April 25. She was released a few days later on a $7,500 bond from Broward County. “I was locked up when the song came out, I come home, I look at my phone and everybody keep tagging me,” she told her fans. “They tagging Cardi too, they said JT was trying to diss me or Cardi B in a song.”
Sukihana maintains that everything is solid between her and JT. She went as far as to vouch for the character of the City Girls emcee. “”I don’t take her as a girl that just start trouble with random people when she droppin’ a song,” she reasoned. She did, however, leave some room open for clarification. She asked JT to speak out on the “Okay” lyrics and set the record straight on who she’s targeting. “They said it’s trouble in paradise for her and Cardi,” she added. “I just don’t feel like me and you got no tea, so just let me know.”
JT has gone hard for “Okay,” her latest single that finds her bars going even harder. “I’m about to get super annoying promoting okay!” The Miami rapper admitted to her followers on X (formerly Twitter) ahead of the song’s release. “I want this song to GO!”
JT shouldn’t have to try too hard to convince people on “Okay,” considering the song oozes infectious confidence. “I’m pretty than a motherf*cker, hoes be looking okay,” she raps. “She think that she f*ckin’ with me, is this b*tch okay? / He said he ain’t f*ckin’ around, I look at him like, ‘Okay’ / I used to down bad, but now a b*tch okay.”
The City Girls star is currently on her first headlining solo US tour, with her next show set for Friday, April 26, at The Harbor in New York, New York.
“The Harbor said I can go all night,” JT posted on Thursday night, April 25. “Safe to say WE OUTSIDE tomorrow & that’s on OKAY!!!”
The harbor said I can go all night safe to say WE OUTSIDE tomorrow & that’s on OKAY!!!
“Okay” follows “No Bars” and “Sideways” as JT’s solo releases — all generating anticipation for her forthcoming solo project City Cinderella.
The project is named after JT’s fund “uplifting local partners who work tirelessly to ensure that every girl who dreams of going to prom can do so in a dress that makes her feel like royalty” because “economic barriers should not prevent any high school girl from experiencing the joy and self-confidence that comes with feeling beautiful on of the most memorable nights,” as detailed on the campaign’s official website.
In other words, JT is trying to make as many people as possible feel as good as she does in “Okay.”
JT and Yung Miami are not in the best place at the moment. The two emcee rose to fame as the duo City Girls, but true to form in 2024, they have engaged in a public feud. The whole thing started when Miami called out JT for “sneak dissing” her on X (formerly Twitter). The latter denied these claims, and told her partner in rhyme that she was “playing dumb.” Things appeared to have cooled down in the three weeks since the social media explosion, but City Girls does not look as though it continue for much longer. This makes it the perfect time for JT to drop the solo single “Okay.”
The Florida rapper teased a snippet of “Okay” on April 16, along with a pre-order link. The single sees JT engage in her usual boastful style, which sounds amazing over the horn-heavy beat. The bouncy drums are a throwback to the sound Waka Flocka Flame and Lex Luger established in the late 2000s, but with a slicker, modern spin. JT’s bars are standard for anyone who’s spent time listening to a City Girls tape, but the appeal of both her and Yung Miami has always been the swagger over the wordplay. “I’m pretty than a motherf**ker, h*es be lookin’ okay,” she raps. “She think that she f**king with me, is this b*tch okay. He said he ain’t f**kin’ ’round, I look at him like, okay.” It’s a memorable chorus.
“Okay” is the latest track to be released from JT’s rumored debut album. There isn’t a proper name or release date, but the rapper has been teasing multiple leaks. “Okay” is the third single for the album after “Sideways” and “No Bars,” both of which dropped in 2023. JT gushed about being able to make the music she wants in an IG post hyping up “No Bars,” and it’s safe to assume the excitement extends to “Okay” as well. “No more hiding my love for music, I love music,” she wrote. “I love my voice! I love poppin’ my sh*t.”
What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Okay,” by JT? Does the song make you more excited for JT’s solo album? Does it live up to the rapper’s work with City Girls? Do you think JT and Yung Miami are going to continue as a duo? We want to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:
Down South, bad b*tch, this skreet sh*t, so ratchet Call me JT, A.K.A. The Soul Snatcher (Okay) I’m with a booster, a scammer, and a pole dancer P*ssy n**ga call my phone, he won’t get no answer (Nah)
On April 12, during weekend one of Coachella, Uzi embraced their fluid freedom by voguing on stage (a unique style of dance birthed in the ballroom scene). Users online and Uproxx‘s hip-hop editor Aaron Williams alike applauded the spontaneous choreography. So, yesterday (April 19), Uzi pushed the boundaries even further.
After concluding their performance, Uzi left stage, purse first (hi, Bob The Drag Queen). But it was just any bag, after Uzi gestured to the item, the camera revealed it was indeed a six-figure Kelly Birkin handbag. Then allowed the fully customized ‘Chrome Hearts’ edition of the highly sought after Hermès item.
Similar to last weekend’s response to Uzi’s voguing, users online loved the moment. Many even begged that the now viral clip be turned into a GIF so that could use it on a daily basis. However, other like streamer Adin Ross, Akademiks, and more weren’t seemingly offended.
During Ross’ watch party broadcast, his face read as if he was disgusted by Uzi carrying a designer handbag.
Adin Ross looked visibly upset after he saw Lil Uzi Vert pick up his purse while leaving the stage pic.twitter.com/yYnbJaCzuD
But what does Uzi have to say about the pushback? Well, onstage Uzi knew that some would be off put by their leather crop top portion of their costume, to which they immediately brushed it off. “I look good,” they declared.
GloRilla and JT have been the topic of a flurry of rumors for over five months. At first, all indications that these rumors held no weight. However, this has since been upturned as the pair have traded some serious insults on Twitter. Beyond that, they’ve issued some even more serious threats to one another. In fact, JT has made it very clear that she doesn’t mind going back to jail, despite GloRilla recently claiming that they aren’t beefing on “Aite.” It’s unclear where they currently stand, but after the release of “Aite,” GloRilla and JT have not seen eye to eye.
The story about the alleged incident was made known to the public by The Rap-Up podcast’s Armon Wiggins in October 2023. The story went something like this: GloRilla approached JT at the 2023 VMAs with what seemed to be a friendly gesture. However, the interaction didn’t go as planned because JT allegedly rebuffed her. Glo then allegedly got violent and sent a drink, a hand, or a purse flying JT’s way. This incident set tongues wagging, and before long, the rumor mill churned out the story that GloRilla slapped JT.
Many found Armon Wiggins’ dramatic tale a little hard to believe especially since no one else had corroborated these claims. The only third party to ever disclose the story is Wiggins and he divulged this anecdote a month after the VMAs, a highly publicized event. To further clear the air, GloRilla’s album Ehhthang Ehhthang, released on April 5, included the song “Aite.” In the lyrics, GloRilla addressed the situation with JT, stating, “Me and JT ain’t the best of friends, but we ain’t beefin’.”
April 5th Wasn’t “Aite”
While the story should have ended there, the story took yet another turn after JT, in multiple posts denied having been hit by GloRilla. On April 5th, she made yet another tweet denying it but also accused Glo of perpetuating a false story through her music. She said that GloRilla was playing into the rumors for publicity when she “…released a song about slapping b*tches…” only to follow it up with “Aite,” and “…now it’s female unity??CORNY!!!!”
In response, GloRilla fiercely defended her song in a series of tweets that have since been deleted. “Hoe shut yo dumb ass up & fix dem uglass wigs I said it ain’t no beef ho you da one with da secret animosity,” she began. Soon after, she followed up another tweet that read, “I mentioned yo name to clear the air, what you wanted me to say I didn’t slap you but with a purse instead?? Scary ass ho.”
The drama between GloRilla and JT escalated further when Glo shared a tweet that read, “Nvm no free promo.” This seemingly innocuous statement set off a chain reaction of heated exchanges. JT, not one to hold back, responded vehemently. She accused GloRilla of being a liar and dismissed the idea that GloRilla had hit her with anything. She tweeted: “OMG you are a liarrrr! B*tch you didn’t hit me with shit FANNED out ass b*tch you approach me sounding like an old beat-up box Chevy ‘WHAT UP GANG’.”
Evidently, GloRilla wasn’t backing down either. She referenced the night of the altercation one more time saying: “Inmate 0983 was taking off her shoes like she was gone get to me. Didn’t know if her a$$ was trying to get active or get sturdy. Lying about getting touched is crazyyy.”
GloRilla subsequently issued a warning to JT. She threatened to show up uninvited at one of JT’s “Backyard BBQ shows.” The gloves were off, and both artists began making bold threats. Before then, JT accused Glo of causing “all that sh*t with FNF remix too! Came in the game messy & phony ready to switch up on [her] homies too had to jump back on the roof.”
However, in a cryptic move, JT also made another tweet captioned with the word “Pending.” The tweet was a picture showing eight of her mugshots from over the years. The red-circled blank spot hinted at an upcoming addition to her collection. It was a bold statement, suggesting that she wasn’t one to shy away from a physical confrontation, and was ready for whatever turn it would take.
Glo took her up on the offer though. She replied that JT didn’t have what it took to face her since “dem mugshots is from you stealing not fighting.” JT followed that up by making her threats against GloRilla even bolder. Specifically, she wrote that her ninth mugshot would be from me “poking holes in you like the air mattresses you were sleeping on.”
It’s Probably Not Over Yet
Two days before, JT had also taken to social media to address female rappers who allegedly sneak dissed her. She tweeted, “Bitches be Sneak dissing letting their flunky wanna be ME ass friends hype their head up, but when I come, just know I’m not gonna play with neither one of y’all bitches. Y’all are long overdue.” Since then, she has had online rifts, even with her best friend, fellow City Girl Yung Miami. She also got into it with Cardi B as well.
Meanwhile, GloRilla made an appearance at the 2024 CMT Music Awards. When asked about the back-and-forth with JT on Twitter, GloRilla chose to respond in a cryptic manner. In fact, her reply was rather philosophical. She simply said, “Everything just always everything. At the end of the day, that day gon’ motherf—in’ end. Everything is everything. That day gotta end.”
The City Girls may be known for having bold attitudes, but that doesn’t mean they welcome drama into their personal lives. Unfortunately, like most celebrities, Yung Miami and JT find themselves caught up in internet beef, even recently going at one another on Twitter/X. Last week, it seemed as though tensions were brewing between the partners in rhyme as onlookers made comments about Miami not showing enough support to JT. Both women expressed frustration at how the opinions of others were coming between their close bond but were able to make up in the end.
Elsewhere, the Caresha Please host is still fighting off allegations of being a “sex worker” for Diddy, as alleged in Lil Rod’s lawsuit. Rather than running and hiding, Miami dropped off her “CFWM” single earlier this spring and has attempted to focus her energy on promoting that. However, another rising rap diva accused the Florida native of stealing her bars, resulting in even more drama. On Tuesday (April 16), the fashionista used her online presence to vent about how exhausting things have been for her lately.
Yung Miami Hints at Why She Didn’t Come Between GloRilla and JT
“I am a grown a** lady with two kids, I don’t have time to be inserting myself in anything that has nothing to do with me!” she wrote this morning. Some think that Miami’s referring to a spat between GloRilla and JT, but it’s hard to say for sure. “I don’t have a problem with anyone, please leave me alone!!!” the City Girl continued. “Every day I wake up on this app it’s something new, I am tired!”
As Yung Miami said, her main priority right now is promoting her “CFWM” single featuring Skilla Baby, and she doesn’t want any drama to distract from her delivery over the MIA JAY C-produced beat. Coachella is one of the biggest stages in live music. Each year, the talent booked at the beloved desert festival aims to make a grand statement. For Coachella 2024, Lil Uzi Vert stole the show, and it started with the “Endless Fashion” rapper’s merchandise that delivered a unique spin on Eminem’s stage name.
However, online supporters are more impressed by Uzi’s latest dance moves. While on the main stage, Uzi showed off their voguing skills, a by-product of the ballroom scene. Although Uzi doesn’t identify as a member of the LGBTQ community by sexual orientation, as a non-binary person, Uzi maintains their queer gender identity.
Hip-hop editor Aaron Williams pointed this out in his review of Uzi’s set. “Lil Uzi Vert took to the big stage like a duck to water, complete with a headset mic like mid-’80s Madonna,” he wrote. “They put it to good use with some crowd-pleasing voguing, and while it would have been nice to see a little more world-building from Uzi‘s set, they pushed the boundaries of what future rappers could do with the big stage and proved worthy of the primetime set by sheer crowd draw alone.”
Uzi played up on the public’s confusion about their orientation. “Can I tell y’all a secret,” they said. “I’ve been holding this in for a very long time. I’m pretty sure a lot of you already knew this. What I wanna tell y’all tonight is… I love y’all, and I hope, no matter what, y’all love me the same way I love y’all.”
If Lil Uzi Vert truly intends to retire from music, maybe ballroom icon Leiomy Maldonado could teach Uzi one of her many legendary tricks. View users’ online responses below.
While it may seem like the whole rap community has beef at the moment, at least one pair of feuding friends seems to have laid their discord to rest. JT and Yung Miami, known collectively as City Girls, fell out and made up over the course of several hours yesterday after a heated back-and-forth on Twitter (never X) was reconciled by something as simple as a phone call. How novel!
The tweets have all been deleted, but The Shade Room proved useful for something, capturing screenshots of the tail end of their exchange. After one last tweet from JT popped up on the timeline arguing that she has reason to be mad, Miami expressed confusion, saying “Jatavia we just got off the phone… now we back to the internet???”
Fortunately, the issue was quickly resolved. “This tweet was BEFORE the phone conversation,” JT explained. “Don’t know why it didn’t go through. Maybe because everyone was blowing up my phone!” In response, Miami declared she was “moving on,” telling her partner-in-rhyme, “I love you.” JT’s reply? “I love you more. I actually love you the most!”
Now THAT’s how you handle a falling out.
While Drake and Kendrick probably won’t be doing this anytime soon, it’s nice to see that some folks still know how to act, even if fans online love to feed into the negativity.
