Jennifer Hudson Hints At A Possible Verzuz With Fantasia

Vocal powerhouse, Jennifer Hudson has had a tone to celebrate within music years. Last year, she became the youngest of 17 people to achieve EGOT status. This status is given to anyone who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Tony,and a Oscar award. She has also been spending her time as a TV talk show host for her own show The Jennifer Hudson Show. Noticeably, Jennifer Hudson’s music career has been on a long hiatus for years. Her return to the stage as a musician may soon end. Seemingly, she is ready to remind fans of her catalog in a verzuz battle against Fantasia.

Recently, Verzuz’s cofounder, Swizz Beatz appeared as a guest on her talk show. Jennifer brought up Verzuz in a very versatile interview. Like fans of the series, Jennifer expressed how it “Saved her entire life” during the pandemic while asking him about the show’s return. With a smile, Swizz responded “Soon as you and Fantasia sign the contract,” teasing the possibility of the match-up. Additionally, the audience cheered when Jennifer responded: “We’ll see.”

Moreover, if the two ladies agree to do the battle, this isn’t the first time the two have a competitive faceoff. In 2004, they were contestants on season three of American Idol. Jennifer has a successful run on the show finishing the competition in seventh place. Fantasia became the third winner of American Idol that same year. Since the show, Fantasia went on to become a Grammy award-winning artist. Two of her albums Free Yourself and Fantasia are Recording Industry Association of America certified. Additionally, Jennifer has won two Grammys. Her 2008 single “Spotlight” is certified platinum. She has also earned another certification for her cover of Jennifer Holliday’s 1982 song “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” The ladies have both earned a career that has remained comparable since their appearance on American Idol.

Jennifer Hudson & Common’s Relationship Still Going Strong, Couple Shows PDA During Chicago Stroll

Things obviously didn’t work out between Common and Tiffany Haddish. Still, that’s not stopping the rapper from finding love with someone new. Since February, he’s been linked to American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson romantically. Of course, the pair have been friends for quite some time now. Cameras have caught them out and about together in the past, though little is known about how serious the nature of their budding romance is. This past week, however, gave some indication that things may be heating up between Hudson and her beau.

On Thursday (May 4), she and Common were photographed walking arm in arm through a Chicago neighbourhood near her home. Sources told TMZ that the lovers strolled for about 90 minutes, taking their time while enjoying the local scenery. Hudson has reportedly been spotted more frequently than ever over the past few days. She usually spends a lot of time in Los Angeles, where her syndicated talk show is filmed. However, the ongoing writer’s strike has put a halt to that. This gives the vocalist plenty more time to spend with Common at home.

It appears that their connection moved from a platonic to a romantic one during their time together on the set of Breathe. They’ve since been seen grabbing romantic dinners at Nobu, and even Haddish took the opportunity to crack a joke about her ex moving on. “Girl, he never gave me no damn earrings. He probably gave those to Jennifer,” he comedian quipped on TikTok after being asked about jewelry previously given to Common to pass off to her.

Swizz Beatz’s Health Scare Had Doctors Saying He’d Never Walk Again

Swizz Beatz is one of the most revered hip-hop producers in the genre, and it’s crazy to think that his career might’ve been wildly different at one point. Moreover, he recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and spoke on a health scare earlier in his career that made doctors think he’d never walk again. Furthermore, said scare occurred because, to put it simply, the Bronx native was just working too hard. However, he remarked how he was able to rise above and continue developing his now legendary career, and how that experience gave him a different perspective.

“When you come from nothing, and you finally get success, [you] get a piece of what you thought you could never get from your surroundings,” Swizz Beatz told Hudson. “We just have a habit of going hard as men, you know, and it caught up to me. I remember staying up for four days straight just over-pushing it. It messed up my immune system — I had spinal meningitis. And I remember going to the hospital, and the doctor was cold. He was cold as ice.

Swizz Beatz’s Career Almost Faced A Massive Obstacle

“As soon as I walked in, he said, ‘okay, you might not die, but you’ll never walk again,’” Swizz Beatz continued. “That was the first thing they said to me when I went into the hospital. But I was in so much pain, I was like, ‘Let’s get on to it.’ But, Alhamdulillah [Praise be to Allah], I came back, and I beat the odds with that one. And now, I try to take my health a little bit more serious.” What’s more is that this isn’t the only surreal story the 44-year-old recently told.

“Man, honestly, it don’t even feel like [DMX] is gone,” he told The Breakfast Club. “It just feels like he’s away, somewhere chillin’. And then the anniversary will come around or I’ll speak to his fiancée or I’ll speak to his son and I’m like, ‘Whoa.’ Or I’ll see a video or I’ll scroll through my phone and see pictures and it’ll hit me. But the thing that makes me feel easy about it is he came to me. I seen him in my dream. He came to me. And this was, like, super quick too. And he let me know he was good. I’m the person that is like, ‘He ain’t come to see you, what you talkin’ about?’ I seen him. Tiffany Haddish threw shade at her ex, Common, over his alleged relationship with Jennifer Hudson on social media, earlier this week. The comedian was responding to questions from fans on TikTok when she brought up the legendary rapper.

“I’m still waiting to see if Common gave you the earrings I gave him for you when he came to Charlotte,” one fan wrote to Haddish. “Girl, he never gave me no damn earrings,” she responded, before joking, “He probably gave those to Jennifer.”

Haddish and Common began dating at some point in 2020 before calling it quits in November 2021. “I miss him from time to time,” Haddish admitted on Fox Soul’s Hollywood Unlocked with Jason Lee Uncensored afterward. “But that’s with, I think, any relationship, an intimate relationship that you might have, you miss them. But I’m fine with it. It’s cool. I wish him nothing but joy and happiness. He will always be cool.”

As for what Haddish is looking for from her next relationship, she recently detailed her ideal man during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “Good credit score because I need to know you’re responsible,” Haddish said on the show. “You need to have good hygiene. That’s really important to me. I can’t stand bad breath or funky armpits. I’ve been attracted to a lot of hip-hop kind of guys, and I don’t mind men wearing jewelry, but if you own a bunch of diamonds but you don’t own no land, that’s a problem for me. Land then diamonds. Because where do the diamonds come from? The land. So own the land, then get the diamonds. Like, I got diamonds, yes I do, because I got land.”

Common and Jennifer Hudson have been rumored to be dating for months. They previously worked together on the film, Breathe, in 2022. They’ve been spotted going out with one another on numerous occasions in the time since.

JHud finally received the physical Tony award in the mail and took to Instagram on Friday to celebrate with the caption “Look what arrived yall!!”  to share a shot of her posing wearing a purple button-down dress with her Tony award with the other trophies including the Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar sitting beside her on the piano, solidifying her place in EGOT history. The multi-talented performer received the award as a producer of Best Musical Winner on “A Strange Loop” with industry legends, Billy Poter, RuPaul, and Don Cheadle. 

 The multi-hyphenate performer joins an elite list of just 16 other Hollywood power players to have done the same, including Whoopi Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Alan Menken, and John Legend. “Wow !!! I am overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support that I am Still receiving and I’m still processing this whole new ground,” Hudson wrote on Instagram on June 14 after winning her, Tony. “What an honor! Thank u all for being with me on this journey. I could not live this life without u. Like I said when I won my Oscar, look what God can do. Well, He did it again!”Over the course of her impressive career, she’s also won the Oscar for the best-supporting actress (for 2006’s Dreamgirls), two Grammy Awards (best R&B album for 2008’s Jennifer Hudson, and best musical theater album for 2016’s The Color Purple), and a Daytime Emmy Award for 2021’s Baba Yaga.

She also treated her fans to a brief concert of her singing some of her favorite Broadway songs that she performed throughout her career on Instagram Reels.

40-year-old Actress and musician Jennifer Hudson’s new talk show will air September 12. The series will debut on the Fox TV stations as its core station group.

“The Jennifer Hudson Show” will be produced by the same minds behind “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which ended its run after 19 years on the air, as reported by Variety. 

The “Spotlight” singer took to social media with excitement to confirm the news.

“I can’t believe I get to say this, but welcome to my show !!! Let’s light up daytime beginning September 12th ! Wait a minute that’s my birthday !!!”

Jennifer Hudson has officially added EGOT to her resume. Hudson received a Tony award this past Sunday for producer of A Strange Loop, which won Best Musical.

Previously, Hudson won Grammy awards for Best R&B Album and Best Musical Theater Album. Hudson’s work in Dreamgirls nabbed her Oscar and the Emmy came for her part in Baba Yaga, a daytime series.

Hudson is only the 17th person in history to be an EGOT winner. She is the second Black woman to do so following Whoopi Goldberg. Hudson is also the youngest woman to female to achieve the status.
