Drake Teases New Song Lyrics After Debuting New Hairstyle

Drake can never stay off Instagram for too long. The rapper loves to keep fans updated on what he’s up to. One thing he loves even more, though, is teasing what’s next. Drizzy shocked fans when he debuted a short haircut after rocking braids for years. He doubled down on the new look on November 19, when he hopped on the ‘Gram to show off a new pose. It wasn’t the hairstyle that had fans intrigued, though. It was the fact that Drake teased lyrics that we’ve yet to hear on a song. In other words, the rapper is giving fans a taste of what’s to come.

The photo in questions sees Drake in front of his Texas property. The lyrics, meanwhile, make reference to his Lil Wayne allegiance, as well as his status within the rap game. “I’m a cash money soldier like when Tune had the dreads at his shoulders,” the 6 God wrote in the caption. “I passed up on offers you p**sies would have passed out over.” The internet, being the internet, sprung into action. Genius put up a brand new page for the song in which the lyrics are supposed to be from. It’s tentatively titled “Cash Money Soldier,” and contains only the lyrics Drake mentions in the caption.

Drake Posted Cryptic Photos Alongside His Lyrics

The lyrics themselves pay homage to Wayne, Birdman, and Drake’s Cash Money predecessors. The rap group who helped to launch Cash Money, Hot Boys, recently reunited for a performance at Lil Weezyana Fest.

Mustard Trolled Drake By Almost Playing His Music, But Making An Appropriate Transition Instead, At Camp Flog Gnaw

Mustard had some fun with the whole Drake/Kendrick Lamar situation at Camp Flog Gnaw this weekend.

During his set (as seen in this video clip), Mustard, who is firmly on Lamar’s side, started playing “Crew Love,” but before the track reached Drake’s verse, Mustard gave a “sike!” before transitioning to Future, Metro Boomin, and Lamar’s “Like That.”

In an interview from earlier this year, Mustard said, “I don’t think I want to make a song with that dude. He’s a strange guy. [Drake fans] don’t go to sleep — all they do is tweet, tweet, tweet, tweet. That’s where ‘the Nation of drizzlam’ came from. I said it in a joking manner, but I guess on Twitter it looked like I was mad [laughs]. Drake should use that phrase. I won’t charge him for it.”

He also said of Lamar at the time, “He’s just a genius. He does the unthinkable every time. And on a human level — just as a normal person — I like his style. […] His whole mystique gives me the same vibes as Prince. Even now [after the success of ‘Not Like Us’], the guy has not posted anything. I told him, ‘I don’t know how you do that sh*t. Me, I’d be like, ‘Yeah, I’m No. 1!””

Dame Dash Says Drake Ghosted a $6M Bid for His Third of Roc-A-Fella Records

Dame Dash Says He Was Hyped to Hear His Name on "Ether"

Damon Dash is giving details on the auction of his stake in Roc-A-Fella Records. No one showed up for the auction, and the state of New York ended up making the bid for $1,000,000. But there was a potential buyer: Drake.

Drake has been buying up hip-hop history for a while and has focused on the third of the Roc. Dash stated that at one point, Drake bid for $6 million. “Drake put in a bid for $6 million, but then he disappeared.”

You can hear it from Dash below.

Mustard Savagely Trolls Drake At Camp Flog Gnaw With Clever Beat Switch

The 10th Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival took place this weekend, and it seems like it was a blast. A plethora of stars popped out this year, including Denzel Curry, Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, and many more. Mustard was one of a nice handful of producers that got time on stage, and he made the most of it. He’s been having a banner year, mostly thanks to producing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” which continues to run the genre. He made sure to give the rabid fans what they wanted, playing the mega diss record a couple of times. However, if you search “mustard camp flog gnaw” on Twitter, a different clip from his set is trending right now.

As you may remember, following the release of his K. Dot collab, Mustard had been extremely vocal about his disdain for Drake. In fact, after effectively blaming The Boy for his poor first week sales of Faith Of Mustard Seed, he doubled down that he’s got no love for him. “I don’t think I want to make a song with that dude. He’s a strange guy,” he told the Los Angeles Times. It’s pretty clear that Mustard is done with him. However, if you needed some extra convincing, the acclaimed hitmaker’s got you.

Mustard Pump Faked The Camp Flog Gnaw Crowd Good

During “Mustard & Friends” he began to play Drake and The Weeknd’s 2011 hit “Crew Love” from Take Care. But just before the former’s verse was about to get underway, he duped the entire crowd. “SIKE!” Mustard yelled before transitioning to Future, Metro Boomin, and Kendrick’s “Like That.” Everyone in attendance was shocked, but you could tell they were stoked.

This devious act continues to prove that Drake is just not welcome at Camp Flog Gnaw. If you remember, about five years ago, he was viciously booed off the stage. His surprise appearance had many upset, as the crowd was anticipating the reclusive Frank Ocean to be out there instead. Drake ended his set 20 minutes early, according to reports, and he hasn’t been back since.

Drake Loses $355K After Betting On Mike Tyson To Beat Jake Paul

Drake has taken lots of bumps and bruises in 2024. The rapper lost the biggest hip hop battle of the 21st century, despite turning in a strong effort. He lost $300K betting on Canada in the Copa America game, then $500K betting on the winner of the Stanley Cup. Well, the 6 God took another L on Friday, as Jake Paul defeated Mike Tyson in a boxing match. Drake put $355K down on Iron Mike to secure the victory, but it wasn’t even close. Seriously. Paul won the match by unanimous decision.

Drake posted his betting stub in the hours leading up to the Paul vs. Tyson fight. “I’m late but I’m here money on the liiiiiiiiine for today,” he wrote on Instagram. “And tmrw @stake I need some dubs.” Well, he did not secure those dubs. Drake and fellow Young Money alumni Tyga bet big on Mike Tyson to pull an upset, and he did anything but. Fans in the crowd actually started booing during the later rounds, and it was widely inferred by many that Paul was taking it easy on Tyson out of respect. DJ Akademiks posited this on Twitter. He also decided to poke fun at Drake for losing yet another huge sports bet.

Drake Continues His Streak Of Losing Sports Bets

“Drake my mans,” Ak tweeted. “But once I seen him bet on Tyson I knew he lost.” This sentiment was echoed throughout the Twittersphere, actually. Lots of people were betting on Mike Tyson to win, and were horrified to see that the 6 God put money down on their side. The memes were plentiful, and even professional accounts like ESPN Bets got in on the fun. They posted a gif of a panicked Jon Bernthal in The Punisher under the text: “Mike Tyson bettors after seeing Drake bet on him to win.”

Other fans were more bitter in their responses. “Mike Tyson might not have won but at least Drake lost,” one of them tweeted out. Then there was a user who noted, as we did at the top, that Drizzy has really had a brutal calendar year. “Dude can’t catch a break this year,” they pointed out. We could list out the other captions that fans provided, but we think a roundup of the funniest and most notable reactions to the Drake curse would be more effective. Check out our top picks below.

Chris Brown Earns First Diamond Certified Single With “No Guidance”

Chris Brown is one of the best-selling artists of all time. He’s been called the “King of R&B” by his peers. He also has the most RIAA Gold certified singles and RIAA multi-Platinum singles of any male star in pop history. It’s difficult to imagine an achievement that Chris Brown hasn’t already unlocked, and yet, he has topped himself. The singer recently scored his first ever Diamond certified single with “No Guidance,” his 2019 hit with Drake.

Chris Brown confirmed the massive achievement on November 13. He posted a response to the Diamond certification on Instagram, writing: “Diamond. Cook and remain humble.” A Diamond certification is given to songs that have managed to eclipse 10 million units. It’s a rare feat reserved for singles that stand the test of time, and continue to draw streams years after their release. “No Guidance” is a perfect example of this phenomenon. The single peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. It marked Chris Brown’s highest charting pop song since “Forever” a decade earlier. It also set a record for most weeks on top of the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Airplay chart.

Chris Brown Holds The Record For Most Gold Singles

“No Guidance” may not have topped the Billboard Hot 100, but it’s become, statistically, the biggest song of Chris Brown’s career. It was a catchy song, but part of the song’s enduring appeal is definitely the crossover between Breezy and Drizzy. The two artists were passionate rivals for most of the 2010s, but they decided to set their differences aside and collab. The anticipation was high, and “No Guidance” delivered. “I just always had a lot of admiration for his talent,” Drake told Rap Radar in 2019. “And I think finally he gave me the mutual respect and admiration by allowing me to take the lead on the song.”

Chris Brown’s Diamond certification is a respite from the negative press that has been surrounding him in recent weeks. The singer is the focus of the new documentary A History of Violence, which delved into his troubled past and interviews various women who have accused him of violent behavior. The doc led to a renewed interest in the more sordid aspects of Brown’s career. Obviously, these allegations have done very little to impact his success, as his new RIAA plaque can attest.

Drake May Have Melted Down Pharrell’s Old Chains But The Producer Wasn’t Bothered By It

Drake boasted about buying and melting down Pharrell Williams‘ old chains in a few recent songs, but Pharrell isn’t bothered by the gestures, calling them the actions of a “fan of music.” In a conversation with GQ, Pharrell was asked how he felt about Drake’s verses from songs like Travis Scott’s “Meltdown” and the Kendrick Lamar diss “Family Matters.”

Pharrell responded with a typically even-keeled answer, saying, “No, because I think beyond all of the on-goings, at the heart of all of it, he’s a fan of music. He’s a fan of the history of what it is, and I happen to be a part of that, and those artifacts are a part of it.” He said he was “cool” with Drake buying his chains and didn’t have any thoughts on what the Canadian star melting them down might mean about Drake’s feelings about him.

“I guess some things are not for me to understand,” he admitted. “When you let things go, a huge part of it is actually letting go. Not just of the physical item, but letting go of your connection to what it’s supposed to mean, or the memory. You’re literally letting them go. That was the purpose. It’s like when people sell something and they go, ‘I just want to make sure you take care of it because this is my baby.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no, no.’ This is not my baby. That’s why I’m letting it go.”

While some fans determined Drake’s actions and bars to be disrespectful toward Pharrell (“I melt down the chains that I bought from yo’ boss / Give a f*ck about all of that heritage sh*t” from “Meltdown” and “You wanna take up for Pharrell, then come get his legacy out of my house” from “Family Matters”), it seemed that Williams was merely collateral damage in Drake’s ongoing feuds with Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar — the only ones he is widely believed to have lost. Maybe his first step at making amends could be to mend fences with the Virginia hitmaker.

Pharrell Williams Has The Perfect Response For Drake’s “Meltdown” Diss

When you are the GQ Designer of the Year, you deserve to act cool and confident. That’s exactly the type of energy that Pharrell Williams is exuding right now in his feature for the recognition. Overall, you really can’t argue for anyone else given how big of a year he’s having. His impact as Louis Vuitton men’s creative director has been astounding so far and he’s sure to continue growing the department. While congratulations are in order for the Virginia multi-talent, the Piece by Piece creative is sparking some reactions thanks to a quote from the feature. During the Q&A, Pharrell was asked about his Joopiter auction platform and the lavish custom jewelry he sold.

If you remember, Drake got his hands on some of the pieces, leading the interviewer to ask how he felt about that. Pharrell showed class as usual, replying, “No, because I think beyond all of the on-goings, at the heart of all of it, he’s a fan of music. He’s a fan of the history of what it is, and I happen to be a part of that, and those artifacts are a part of it.” Overall, he had no problem with The Boy being the buyer and that response had the GQ writer following up with a heavy-hitting question.

Pharrell Is Unfazed By Drake

“And then when he was rapping about melting the jewelry down and saying, “Come get his legacy out my house” and all that stuff, how did that strike you?” “It didn’t,” Pharrell replied. “That didn’t strike you?” the reporter asked. “No.” If there were a definition of a mic drop, this would be it.

Of course, this is all a reference back to Drake’s fiery bars for Pusha T (and Pharrell to an extent) on Travis Scott’s “MELTDOWN” from UTOPIA. “Man, f*** all that spinnin’ the narrative s*** / I melt down the chains that I bought from yo’ boss / Give a f*** about all of that heritage s*** / Since V not around, the members done hung up the Louis, they not even wearing that s***.” Overall, it seems like Pharrell and Drizzy’s relationship may never be repaired, but it seems like that really isn’t weighing too much on the former one bit.

Is Drake back on the road again? The OVO superstar hints at international dates by showing an Instagram throwback image of Australia. “It’s been like 7 years,” Drake wrote with several eyeball emoji.

In related news, Drake is back with a new music video. The Boy dons all OVO clothing and is surrounded by his Woes in the video for “No Face.” You can see the whole unit at a mall, riding through the space in Escalades and with the OVO flags in tow. You can see the whole video.

Drake Teases International Tour Dates With Nostalgic Throwback Post

Drake has been quiet on the music front for the last few months. He dropped a Chino Pacas collab, but by and large, he has kept fans waiting on his anticipated joint album with PARTYNEXTDOOR. He’s also been hinting at an international tour in 2024. The rapper took to his Instagram Story on November 11 to bolster the rumor that he will be hitting stages throughout the world in the new year. How did he do it? Well, by looking backwards.

Drake posted a photo of himself looking out at the Sydney Opera House. The photo was taken in 2015, which was the last time the rapper performed in Sydney. “It’s been like 7 years,” he wrote. The math is a bit off, but the sentiment remains. Drizzy is seemingly headed down under for the first time in a decade. It’s not the first time the rapper has used IG to gauge interest in an international tour. He teased the “No One Likes Us” tour via some grainy photos of merchandise a few months. The authenticity has yet to be confirmed, but the text underneath the alleged title reads: “Euro 2024.”

Drake Previously Hinted At “Euro 2024” Tour

The plan, if true, would align with the impending PARTYNEXTDOOR collab album. Drake hinted at a release date in the fall back in August. On November 7, the rapper took to Instagram to comment under a PND Instagram post. “THAT TIME,” he wrote, leading fans to believe that the album’s release date is right around the corner. If the album does indeed meet its fall release plan, then it makes sense that the 6 God would want to carry the momentum over to a world tour. Especially if the tour in question helps to erase some of the bruises that Drake took during the Kendrick Lamar battle.

It’s worth nothing that 2024 is almost over, though. Drake doesn’t have much time to announce tour dates, and he’s prone to pushing back the release dates for his albums. If the PARTYNEXTDOOR album gets delayed, or the planning for an international tour proves more complicated than initially planned, then fans may have to wait until 2025. The good news is that Drake seems eager to get back on the global stage. Hopefully he drops specific dates sooner than later.
