Monica Claims She Was Mistaken For Sexyy Red But Fans Aren’t Buying It

Monica has found herself back in the spotlight on a nearly night by night basis, at least among the Barbz. Back in February she was revealed as the opening act on Nicki Minaj’s highly anticipated Pink Friday 2 tour. When the tour finally took off a few weeks later she got plenty of love from the Barbz for her opening performances. The tour is still chugging along before shifting to an overseas leg starting next month.

But her affiliation with Nicki may be starting to run deeper than she anticipated. She took to Instagram to share a story with fans about an alleged encounter in ana airport. “Ok… This older lady literally chased me down in the airport to say Good Morning Miss Sexyy Red May I pls have a Picture! I hated to disappoint her but I said ‘Mmmm I love her but I’m not Sexyy Red” LMAOOO now I can’t get the song out of my head!!! She was so disappointed LOL. Monica’s Fans Aren’t Buying Her Sexyy Red Story

In the comments, fans aren’t buying the story. “Aint nobody thought no shit like that. 😂😂😂” one of the top comments on the post reads hilariously denying the story entirely. “They tried to play her, because there is absolutely NO resemblance” another commentor observes. Others did take the story at face value, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t come at it with jokes. “That’s so disrespectful to Monica tf” one highly-upvoted comment on the post reads. The variety of reactions to the post divided fans even further in the comments.

Questlove Clarifies 2Pac “Hit Em Up” Comments Following Internet Backlash

Because of Kendrick And Drake’s enticing back and forth, everyone has been thinking about rap beef recently. Unsurprisingly, that included someone whose done as much thinking about hip-hop as anybody, Questlove. The multi-medium artist and rap historian appeared to make some surprising comments about one of the great diss tracks in rap history, 2pac’s “Hit Em Up.” But after his supposed comments made the rounds online he returned to social media to clarify.

He wanted fans to know he certainly doesn’t think the track is anywhere near the weakest diss track ever. “Let’s be clear on the context I was speaking of aight? lol woke up to a grip of “what did Dennis Edwards/Pac do to you?!” texts. I’m speaking of the musical backdrop of that record ‘Hit Em Up’” the caption of his Instagram post reads. In the post itself, he revealed that the viral comments were taken out of context and he was actually talking about the song that was interpolated into the song. He describes the reporting of his comments as a weird game of telephone and warns people not to “Don’t take my ish outta context.” Check out his new post refuting earlier claims below.

Questlove Clears Up Confusion Over 2pac Comments

Fans weren’t that surprised by what Quest had to say about “Hit Em Up” given other comments he’s made recently. He reacted to the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef by claiming that “hip hop is dead.” He took issue with their arms race to insult each other as much as possible and even claimed that the very idea of a diss track is antithetical to hip-hop. Those comments also had fans buzzing about what their favorite disses actually mean to rap music.

Diddy Doubles Down On His Call For “Love” With His Latest Message To Fans

Last week, Diddy’s continued social media use was called into question by many fans. The rap mogul is in the middle of months of increasingly pressing legal trauma. It began last year with a lawsuit filed by Cassie alleging abusive behavior. Though it was quickly settled, that set the tone for the months since. He’s faced numerous new lawsuits since then including one particularly viral filing by producer Lil Rod. More treacherously though, two of his properties were raided by the federal government as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged sex trafficking.

Throughout all of it, he’s occasionally posted to Instagram basically as if nothing else is going on. Sometimes that’s promoting something he’s working on and other times its simply a life update. Last week he shared a video that seemed to ask fans why they were hating on him and imploring them to spread more love. That seems to be the theme at the core of his newest post as well. It’s a minimal affair with a caption that simply reads “LOVE” with a few emojis. The picture itself is simply plain black text that reads “time tells truth.” The message seems to be an attempt on the rap mogul’s part to claim that he’s innocent and that the truth about the allegations surrounding him will be revealed in time. Stevie J recorded himself shirtless in the mirror rapping along to King Combs’ new diss track aimed at 50 Cent for a video on his Instagram Story, on Tuesday. Stevie has come to Diddy’s defense several times in recent months as alleged victims have been coming forward with accusations about the Bad Boy mogul. When HollywoodUnlocked shared the clip, fans labeled Stevie corny in the comments section.

“Bro… he’s legit legendary corny,” one top response reads. Another user writes: “Soooo thirsty to stay on Diddy payroll, dude going on 55 years old…. Built like a Kangaroocrodile.” One more follower wrote: “Why does he make everything corny?!”

Akademiks premiered the diss track on Sunday night while live streaming. On the track, Combs references the Homeland Security raids on his dad’s properties, 50 Cent’s recent Instagram posts, and more. “I dare one of you n****s scream out ‘no diddy’” Combs raps, referencing the viral meme. “… Police raid the crib like they think we selling crack, but we out here selling tracks / multimillion dollar plaques.” He also brings up 50 directly, adding: “When all they had was 50 Cent who put the city on the map?/ Stop lying, pops been hated on by many men and n***a, that’s fine/ They gon’ try to stop these Eminems and they gon’ die tryin.’”

Overall, they had their son RZA a couple of years ago, and their youngest son Riot was born last year. The two have been proud parents as they will sometimes post the kids on Instagram. Furthermore, anytime these two do an interview, you can be sure that they are talking about their pride and joys. It is a beautiful thing to witness, and you can tell they are loving every second of having children.

Over the weekend, Rocky and Rihanna got to celebrate RZA’s second birthday. Numerous videos and photos were posted throughout the weekend. Fans were even curious about an image in which Jason Lee could be seen alongside the couple. Last night, however, ASAP Rocky made a post of his own as he celebrated his first-born son’s birthday. Gangsta Boo’s Ex Faces Backlash For Scubbing Instagram & “Moving On” With New Woman

Gangsta Boo’s ex-partner, Emmet Flores, is facing backlash on social media for scrubbing his Instagram of pictures of the late rapper. He revealed that he’s in a new relationship back in December and in the time since, fans have complained about him “moving on.” On Monday, he shared a picture with the new girl celebrating their first anniversary together.

“I get moving on, but why clear everything posted about gangsta boo?” one follower asked, as caught by AllHipHop. “Thats mad disrespectful imo. She was a part of past and helped u become the man u are now. Deleting her photos won’t change how u feel about her. Its givin insecure new girl.” Another wrote: “Definitely nothing wrong with moving on but I do find deleting every pic of lola — a bit weird.” Other users shared more positive responses to the news and supported his newfound happiness.

Flores isn’t the only one who has dealt with fan backlash for their handling of Boo’s passing. When Three 6 Mafia member DJ Paul didn’t attend her service, fans voiced their frustration with him as well. “Lemme explain something to y’all b*tch ass n****s out there who got something to say about me not coming to Boo funeral,” he said in response. “N***a, I paid for the funeral, hoe! I’m on motherf*cking tour and even if I wasn’t, I don’t do funerals. the last time I was at a funeral, it wasn’t nothing but a bunch of groupie ass motherf*cking n****s up in that motherf*cker. DJ Akademiks’ Instagram Account Mysteriously Disappears, Fans Craft Their Theories As To Why

DJ Akademiks is easily one of the biggest commentators in the rap world. Overall, he has built a massive platform for himself, and it has been impressive to watch. Although there are plenty of fans who dislike what he stands for, others have shown a strong fandom for the man. His Instagram account has millions of followers, and they go to his page every single day for news and updates from around the rap world. Of course, he has been a huge source of information throughout the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud, mostly thanks to his connections to the OVO camp.

Interestingly enough, fans realized yesterday that Akademiks’ Instagram account was no longer up. Instead, it appeared to have either been deactivated or suspended. It was a pretty bizarre thing to witness in real-time, especially since this is a huge moment for Ak and his coverage. Furthermore, this all happened in the midst of the EbonyPrince2K24 fallout. For those who aren’t aware, an account claiming to have inside information on Drake was debunked as a journalist at the center of all of this, put out a statement proclaiming Drake’s innocence.

Overall, this saga was incredibly weird and offputting. However, as it pertains to Akademiks, fans started to come with theories as to what went down. Some believe he was just suspended for some of the content he was posting. Although some seem to believe that he was spooked by the EbonyPrince2K24 stuff and nuked his own account. Interestingly enough, his alternate accounts are still active on IG. Moreover, his Twitter accounts are still up. Needless to say, we’ll just have to wait and see what Akademiks has to say.

Reginae Carter’s Vocals Draw Mixed Reactions From Music Fans

Reginae Carter has big shoes to fill. The oldest child of rapper Lil Wayne has already found success as a film actress, but now she’s making the move into music. Carter has collaborated with Wayne in the past, but her latest track has sparked debate over whether she has what it takes to become a solo star beyond her dad’s co-sign. The song “Truth” caught fire via social media on May 13, and Carter’s voice was the main talking point. Some listeners thought she sounded great, others felt like she was relying too heavily on Autotune.

Instagram comment sections can get brutally honest, and Reginae Carter got the full brunt of it. Users really went after the singer for slathering her vocals in Autotune, and criticized her for trying to move in a space she’s naturally suited for. “I got mad respect for Weezy daughter,” one of them wrote. “But singing in auto tune ain’t it boo smh. Reginae Carter Was Criticized For Using Autotune

There were some who felt like she had strong presence on the song. Still, the positive comments tended to focus on her looks and performance in the music video, which tracks given her acting past. “Baby you got your mother’s gift not your daddy,” a user wrote. Reginae Carter’s mother is Toya Johnson, who is a notable TV personality. Johnson has also dabbled in music, but her greatest success has come on shows like Tiny and Toya.

To Reginae Carter’s credit, she knows how nepotism can affect fan opinion. She told People Magazine that Wayne advised her to develop a thick skin if she wanted to make it big. “My dad taught me a lot about just being in the industry, period,” she noted. “He taught me just to keep a thick skin, always be true to myself, never let no one tell me what I can and cannot do.” Carter may not have the music career her dad has, but she’ll find success in whatever field she ultimately decides on.
