Charlamange Tha God Challenges Boosie’s Homophobic Views

On a recent Breakfast Club interview released today (August 23), Louisianna rapper Boosie Badazz discussed having immunity from being blackballed, doing too much on Instagram, his multiple endorsements, his feelings about the gay community, and Lil Nas X. Radio personality Charlamagne Tha God challenges the rapper on his publicly shared controversial opinion, but throughout the 56-minute long interview, Boosie stands by many of his controversial, oftentimes homophobic comments. The rapper once made headlines for getting his underage son oral sex and has been publicly criticized for his transphobic remarks towards Dwayne Wade’s daughter Zaya Wade

The way Boosie sees it though is that he represents a large number of people who share his views but often are afraid to speak up. “They got millions of people that love what I’m doing,” he said. Later on in the interview, he expressed the following, “I just be feeling like sometimes I gotta speak up because, as far as straight people in the world, you don’t have any opinion…If you say anything, ‘I’m straight, I like women,’ it’s vulgar,” he said. “You can’t brag on really smashing or your sexuality anymore.”

Read below to see more of Boosie’s strong opinions and moments when Charlagmane Tha God attempts to challenge him.

Boosie’s Most Memorable Remarks

“I pay me, you can’t blackball me…it’s hard to blackball me”

“I’m a voice for people who can’t speak”

“Everybody else is ran by the industry”

“I feel they [the gay community] are attacking our children”

“I mean everything I say and I say what I mean. But sometimes I feel like I say it the wrong way”

“The world has an opinion”

Moments When Charlamagne Challenges Boosie

“But last time you said your mom told you to ‘stop volunteering your opinion for things that ain’t got nothing to do with you'”

“…you sat down with Mike Tyson and told Mike Tyson ‘you should mind your business sometime too”

“I saw you say that you feel he [Lil Nas X] is a negative influence. Why we acting like rappers haven’t been negative influences for years? Whether it’s talking about murder, celebrating the drug culture, celebrating gang culture, violence against women–we just as negative”

“What have street rappers done to the kids?”

“I don’t understand that logic, Boosie. I saw you say that people try to be straight. How do you try and be straight?”

“You ever thought about going to therapy?”

Despite having many talented members of the queer community contribute to the culture, Hip-Hop has grappled with homophobia. Watch full interview below.

Former Bruins Star Jimmy Hayes Passes Away At 31

Tragic news is coming out of the hockey world today as it was reported that former NHL player Jimmy Hayes died this morning at the age of 31. These reports began to surface on social media just a few hours ago, although there was conflicting information, at first. Eventually, Boston College confirmed the news, and many in the hockey community were shocked.

According to reports, paramedics were called to Hayes’ home this morning where they found him unresponsive. At this time, a cause of death has not been made available to the general public.

Hayes comes from a well-respected hockey family and in the Boston area, Jimmy was a beloved figure. The reactions to his death are a testament to just how much he meant to his community. In fact, many of the teams he played for responded to the news, wishing his family the best all while explaining just what kind of guy he was on and off the ice. Saweetie’s Icy McDonald’s Merch Includes Fanny Packs, Trucker Hats, And Oversized T-Shirts

Saweetie‘s McDonald’s meal has been out for a couple of weeks now, which means it’s time for its accompanying merch collection to hit the net as well. While Travis Scott’s collection included wild entries like Cactus Jack house slippers and Chicken McNugget body pillows, Saweetie’s stuff sticks to the most functional items like apparel and accessories.

In the press release, Saweetie noted that the designs here suit her own personal style, which includes oversized t-shirts and hoodies, and claimed a favorite. “Y’all know I stay dipped in the latest fashion, so it was only right I drop some icy merch to celebrate my McDonald’s collab,” she said. “There are so many oversized pieces that I love, like my favorites: the Saweetie ’N Sour Hoodie and Fry Tees.”

In addition to those items, the collection includes the Dats Right fanny pack, the Pop Art sticker tote, a pair of trucker hats, and socks with her snowflake logo. The simplicity of the collection will probably ensure that the supply issues that plagued J Balvin’s collection can be avoided this time around. You can check out a few pieces below and make your purchases on the official website.

Carmelo Anthony Remembers Kobe Bryant With Touching Photo

Kobe Bryant’s passing hit the NBA community very hard, and to this day, it is extremely difficult for players to grasp what happened. Even fans are still in disbelief as Kobe was this larger-than-life figure who could never be toppled. Today, Kobe’s fans, friends, and peers are all celebrating his life with heavy hearts as it is his birthday. Bryant would have turned 43 today, and we’re sure he would have been spending every second with Vanessa and his four daughters.

Numerous tributes and well wishes have been posted in Kobe’s honor. Guys that Kobe played with have been the most prominent voices on social media as they share photos and stories that made Kobe the legend he is.

Carmelo Anthony was part of this as he went on Twitter and posted a heartwarming photo of himself hugging Kobe after a hard-fought game. In the photo, Melo was still a member of the Nuggets, when they were Kobe’s biggest competition in the Western Conference during those three Finals runs from 08-2010. This photo definitely elicits a ton of nostalgia, and it speaks to the respect these two players had for one another.

The Lakers also took to Twitter with a tribute of their own saying “Black Mamba. Hall of Famer. Girl Dad. Happy Birthday, Kobe.” The love has been real today and for many Kobe fans, August 23rd will forever be a special day.

Trump Booed At His Own Rally After Urging Crowd To Get Vaccinated

Donald Trump’s adorning fans hardly ever go against what he says but he may have not received the response he expected when he began preaching about the vaccine. Over the weekend, the former president held a rally in Alabama where he advised the crowd to get inoculated while boasting that Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines were created within nine months of his presidency.

“You know what? I believe totally in your freedoms, I do. You got to do what you have to do, but I recommend: Take the vaccines. I did it – it’s good,” he said before a few boos were heard from the crowd. “That’s alright. You got your freedoms. But I happen to take the vaccine. If it doesn’t work, you’ll be the first to know. I’ll call Alabama say, ‘Hey you know what?’ but it is working. But you do have your freedoms.”

It isn’t quite a shock that Trump received this response. Per the CDC, Alabama currently has the second lowest rate of people who are fully vaccinated with 35%. Those that have at least one vaccination are at 47%.

Cullman, AL, where Trump hosted his rally, has been considered a high transmission area by state health officials. The city of Cullman also declared a local state of emergency on Thursday ahead of Trump’s rally.

Check out the clip from his rally below.

Boosie Doubles Down On His Homophobic Criticisms Of Lil Nas X

Boosie Badazz has made no secret of his feelings about Lil Nas X’s popularity. Despite the backlash over his previous comments in which he called Nas several slurs in defense of DaBaby, Boosie doubled down in a recent interview with New York’s The Breakfast Club. The show, which can be a controversy magnet at the best of times — sometimes even courting it on purpose, as it seemingly did with this booking — brought him on to address his criticisms and the reaction they prompted on social media.

When host Angela Yee asks whether he thought his words went “too far” — which, come on, man — Boosie argued that they did not. “I’ve gotta speak up because, as far as straight people in the world, you don’t have an opinion no more,” he said.

“Everything is harm,” he complained, providing a supremely questionable example. “If you say anything [like], ‘I like women,’ it’s vulgar.” To the hosts’ credit, they did push back on that assertion, Boosie was undeterred, insisting that the entertainment industry is “ran by” queer people (objectively not true; also, so what if it was? You can have an opinion — you aren’t entitled to sharing that opinion, especially if it’s peppered with derogatory slurs and the same rhetoric that gets used to justify oppression and violence against minority groups).

Boosie seems to be completely missing the point of the backlash against him and The Breakfast Club‘s hosts seem ill-equipped to convey it to him. The whole exercise feels a little … pointless. Meanwhile, Lil Nas X is getting huge opportunities like a creative role at Taco Bell even as hateful rhetoric like Boosie’s forced him to hire security. It looks like that the effect of all this will continue to be lost on some folks, which is a shame because there can’t be that much money in hating.

T.I. Gives Lizzo An Encouraging Message On Ignoring Haters: ‘You Are Beautiful, You Are Talented’

Lizzo recently kicked off a new era of music with “Rumors,” her single with Cardi B. The single dropped alongside a regal video, which included several callbacks to Disney’s 1997 film Hercules. While the new track topped the iTunes chart, it also subjected Lizzo to a number of bodyshaming trolls. The comments led Lizzo to go on an emotional Instagram Live session, and now many celebrities are jumping to her defense.

Along with Cardi B and Offset sharing their support, T.I. is the latest celebrity to tell the haters to leave Lizzo alone. The rapper shared an encouraging message to the singer in a video shared to social media, reminding Lizzo that negative comments are just a projection of haters’ own insecurities:

“My message to Lizzo. I don’t know Lizzo personally. Listen, sweetheart, you are beautiful, you are talented, you are good enough for all the great things the world has to offer, don’t wait on nobody out there in the public to validate that. Don’t do that because their perception of you has more to do with them than it does with you. All these people who out here who have negative sh*t to say it’s because they feel negatively about themselves. Them speaking negatively about you or me or anybody else has more to do with them than it does with you. Please don’t wait on them to give you the okay to be happy. Please don’t wait on them to give you the okay for you to be satisfied with yourself, your accomplishments, your achievements.”

T.I. then ended his message by repeating some choice words. “F*ck them people,” he said. “F*ck what people say. You hear me? F*ck ’em.”
