Gunna ‘DS4Ever’ Officially Certified Gold

Gunna pushed P hard enough that his DS4ever album reached gold status already. According to Chart Data, DS4ever went gold after selling over 500,000 units. DS4ever is also Gunna’s second consecutive No.1 album.

The Atlanta rapper previously reached No.1 with his last release, Wunna, on the June 6, 2020-dated chart. In total, DS4Ever is his fifth charting album and fourth top 10.

Gunna dropped DS4ever on January 7, and the 20-track album received features from Future, Young, Thug, Roddy Ricch, Lil Baby, G Herbo, Yung Bleu, Drake, and Kodak Black. 

DS4ever had a significant influence on the Hip-Hop culture. Gunna had the entire rap world “pushin’ P” like his leading single. He had brands such as Nike and restaurants like IHOP participate in the pushing of P. The Atlanta native is also set to drop a pushin’ P children’s book in the near future. The book will show six steps of how to become “P.” 

Gunna has given multiple definitions of what “p” is, and he has received a ton of backlash for coining the phrase. Still, the Atlanta rapper never said he originated the urban slang “p,” he’s just pushing it and now has the world pushing it.

Megan Thee Stallion Will Star In R-Rated Musical ‘F*cking Identical Twins’

According to various sources, Grammy award-winning recording artist Megan Thee Stallion will star alongside a star-studded comedic cast in the upcoming A24’s first film musical F*cking Identical Twins.

“HOTTIES THIS IS OUR FIRST MOVIEEEE/ MUSICAL! WITH SOME MOVIE LEGENDS,” Megan wrote in a caption on Instagram with a photo of the THR article on Thursday afternoon (Feb 17). “I’m so excited I feel so blessed I feel anxious lol I feel a bunch of sh*t,” she continued, adding a laughing emoji. “I really have been quietly putting in this work and I just can’t wait for the hotties to see everything.”

An R-Rated film, F*cking Identical Twins synopsis is as follows: Two business adversaries who realize they’re identical twin brothers and decide to switch places to reunite their divorced parents and become a family again. The film stars Aaron Jackson (Todd) and Josh Sharp (Search Party). Jackson and Sharp adapt the movie from a two-men stage show premiered in 2014 at Manhattan’s Upright Citizens Brigade. No word on Megan’s role in the film at press time. 

Joining Megan Thee Stallion on F*cking Identical Twins is music legend Nathan Lee, famous comedic actors Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) and Megan Mullally (The Disaster Artist). The film is directed by Borat director Larry Charles.

Megan Thee Stallion is set to premiere her reality series, Off The Leash with Megan Thee Stallion, this Saturday (Feb 19) on Snapchat. News of Megan’s upcoming role comes on the heels of the artist starring in Cheetos’ Flamin Hot Super Bowl LVI ad and signing an exclusive first-look deal with Netflix. 
“I’ve always had a passion for telling creative and entertaining stories, so I’m thrilled about this partnership with Netflix,” Megan told Variety in December 2021. “Venturing into production is the next step in my journey as an entrepreneur and I can’t wait to bring all my ideas to life and for my Hotties to watch.”

Kodak Black Debuts New Short Cut After Cutting Off Wicks

Kodak Black has a new short cut.

Aside from his music, Florida native, Kodak Black is known for his signature hairstyle wicks, also known as globs, or bonks. The popular style originated in South Florida and is prevalent amongst the Afro-Caribbean and African American communities.

This Wednesday, the sniper Gang executive went on Instagram livestream to debut his new hairdo to fans. Fans were immediately shocked to see the rapper with a low-top fade, rather than his usual signature hairstyle. Upon seeing the shortcut, fans compared the rapper’s look to his debut in 2016, believing that we would soon be expecting new music from the “No Flocking” era of Kodak Black.

Fans could be on to something, assuming that the rapper is hopping back into his early stages of music as the rapper is gearing up to release his fifth studio album, Back For Everything on February 25th.

The rapper received a mix of reactions, as some female fans stated that they were attracted to the rapper’s new look. “This girl say that haircut gon’ get you pregnant by me. Like, she gon’ get me pregnant,” he stated during the live.

Nick Cannon Believes Monogamy is Unhealthy

Nick Cannon, father of eight, recently opened up regarding his outlook on relationships in a recent interview with Dr. Lura Berman on her podcast, “The Language of Love.”

During the sit-down, Cannon stated his point of view on an individual’s relationship status. “Married is not single,” he started “When you allow the government and paperwork to come in and say, ‘This is a bond, this is a covenant’ … you’re not single.”

“You can still make covenants without getting the government involved, where two people say, ‘We choose to be monogamous because we value this so much, we don’t want anyone to be a part of this energy we have,’ and I don’t feel like that’s healthy,” he continued.

“I don’t think monogamy is healthy. I feel like that gets into the space of selfishness and ownership.” Nick, who recently welcomed his eighth child, shared that none of the mothers of his children are willing to be in a monogamous relationship, preferring a standard monogamous relationship instead.

When Cannon was asked if all of his children were planned, the Wild N Out host said, “I’m going to take full responsibility. Any woman that I know that I have unprotected sex with, there’s the potential to have a child.”

“So I feel like if I have unprotected sex with anyone I know—because one, I value everything about me so much, if I’ve gotten to that point where I say, ‘I can take off this condom,’ I’m gonna say, ‘She could be the mother of my child,’” he added.

“Every woman that I have a child with, there is definitely a conversation about, ‘Wow, how amazing would this be?’ I feel like every woman I have a child with are amazing mothers, and there was a thought process going into like, ‘Man, she would be an amazing mother, she’s desired children, I can’t wait to see what type of mother she would be.’”

Many are rushing to social media to call the 41 year old toxic, others are hooked on Cannon’s new single “Alone,” an ode to Mariah Carey where he confesses his feelings about his now divorced wife.

Some fans believe that Coi’s recent emotion could be stemming from her relationship with Canadian rapper, Pressa.

R. Kelly Hires Bill Cosby’s Appeal Attorney For Chicago Trial

R. Kelly Vows to Wear GPS, Stay Away From Minors if Released

R. Kelly has cut ties with his Chicago-based legal team in order to hire the attorney who appealed Bill Cosby’s conviction.

In a telephone conference on Wednesday with U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber, Kells said he wanted Jennifer Bonjean to represent him in the case, which is set for a jury trial August 1, 2022.

In Chicago, Kelly is facing charges of federal child pornography and obstruction of justice. There’s also separate aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges in Cook County, Illinois. He has two co-defendants, Derrel McDavid and Milton “June” Brown, whom are long time associates.

Earlier this month, Kelly’s three trial attorneys from the New York case also withdrew their appearances.

Bonjean was already working on an appeal for the 12 Play singer’s New York case and is due to file post-trial motions before U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly this week.

The convicted R&B singer is still awaiting sentencing in a New York City federal jail after being convicted of racketeering. He was also found guilty of crimes including sex with underage girls.

His original Chicago-based attorneys, Steve Greenberg and Michael Leonard told ABC Chicago, “The Chicago case, unfortunately for Robert, is far more serious.” “The Chicago case actually carries much more severe penalties than the New York case,” Greenberg said.

His sentencing for the Brooklyn verdict is set for May 4. He faces between 10 years and life in prison.

Newly-elected NYC Mayor Eric Adams has reason to be concerned about the growing number of violent and often deadly incidents surrounding the city’s drill rap scene. In a late night meeting, Adams met with Brooklyn rapper Maino, Fivio Foreign and other NYC artists who are familiar with the genre and the culture.

Maino vowed that those in attendance would “roll out something together” with the mayor to quell the violence. Maino also said, “There’s been a lot of talk about drill rap, drill music in New York City, connecting violence with the culture, and I just wanted to create a conversation with the mayor.”

Today in Hip-Hop History: Geto Boys Dropped Their Debut LP ‘Making Trouble’ 34 Years Ago

On this day in Hip-Hop History, Texas OGs The Geto Boys released their debut LP Making Trouble 31 years ago. Although the start of the career of one of the most prolific southern rap groups to ever grace the mic, this project may have been their least heard and most unknown album.

Coming at a time in the group’s history where they were referred to as the more conventionally spelled “Ghetto Boys”, this album showcased the lyrical ability of a then four-member underground group. At the time the group was composed of DJ Reddy Red of Trenton, NJ(RIP), Prince Johnny C, and the Slim Jukebox, with Bushwick Bill on the roster as a hypeman and a dancer. It wasn’t until after the release of this project that Rap-A-Lot Records dropped Reddy Red, Johnny C, and Slim Jukebox to add Scarface and Willie D.

On this project, the group used a style of rap and aesthetics that resembled the legends Run-DMC. The mimicry of the New York rap trio was deep. The group wore all black with top hats and thick gold chains, their music featured heavy rock influence with guitar riffs and high energy drum patterns, and their group dynamic of two emcees and a DJ is exactly what Run-DMC sported.

This album was not the most popular album from the Geto Boys camp, but it is, however, an interesting piece of the group’s history. This project shows the growth and development it took for the group to grow to become the legends that they are respected as today.
