Produced by Toronto’s Ace G and video directed by Kareem Johnson, Harlow spits his white boy rapper slang inside of the presidential suite n front of the Kentucky capacity crowd looking on.

Cordae Speaks Out in Support of YSL: “They Showed Me More Genuine Love Than Anybody!”

YBN Cordae005

Cordae hit Twitter and spoke out in support of Young Thug, Gunna and YSL who are currently in jail awaiting trial on a 56-count RICO indictment. “Free the Whole YSL Family ! They showed me more genuine love than damn near anybody!”

In his messages on social media, Cordae spoke in support of the rappers and also against the use of lyrics in courtrooms.

“Protect Black Art!” Cordae wrote. “Also Using Lyrics against someone on trial is nuts ! It’s a form of self expression that shouldn’t be used in a literal sense especially in a court of law.”

Gunna appeared on “Today” from Cordae’s From a Bird’s Eye View album. Cordae and Young Thug also appeared together on wax, exchanging bars on “Wassup” from the Just Until…. EP.

Cordae isn’t the only one speaking of the good that YSL does. Last month, Meek Mill spoke about Gunna and Young Thug and the opportunity they provide:

“Thug put on many families I seen with my own eyes… stand up for them in these times not the lit ones! Labels, women, n****s… I pray that DA be fair to them knowing what we out here tryna survive. Thug and Gunna ain’t no crime bosses, they successful rappers with influence that didn’t leave their environment behind… If you bring your environment with you it’s basically RICO. Watch yourself out here.

The people I did the most for tryna take me out ‘but can’t’ or tryna manipulate the world. I’m a bad person because they ain’t hold up the ‘loyalty’ part.”

Does Meek have a point? Peep his commentary below.

Johnny Depp Wins Defamation Suit Against Amber Heard, Awarded Millions in Damages

Johnny Depp's Notorious B.I.G Flick, 'City of Lies' Pulled From Schedule One Month Before its Release

The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has come to a conclusion. According to ET Online, 14 hours of jury deliberation found Heard did defame her ex-husband and “acted with actual malice.”

The jury provided the damages section to Judge Penney Azcarate, revealing $10 million in compensatory damages and an additional $5 million in punitive damages. The judge took $350,000 off the damages to be in regulation with the state statutory cap. Heard was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages for her countersuit. Her payment comes after Depp called her claims a “hoax.”

Following the decision and announcement, Heard released a statement:

“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband. I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously. I believe Johnny’s attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the UK. I’m sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American — to speak freely and openly.”

Johnny Depp was not in attendance at the hearing, leaving his lawyers, Camille Vasquez and Ben Chew to deliver reactions. “Today’s verdict confirms what we have said from the beginning — that the claims against Johnny Depp are defamatory and unsupported by any evidence,” Vasquez said. “We are grateful, so grateful, for the jury and for their careful consideration.”

The decision now closes a $50 million lawsuit started by Depp in 2019 after an op-ed by Heard appeared in The Washington Post, where she wrote about being a victim of domestic violence. The piece alluded to the relationship between her and Depp that dissolved. Heard issued a countersuit for $100 million, citing the accusations hurt her career.

Exclusive: Nia Sultana Releases Debut EP ‘Bigger Dreams’ Featuring Rick Ross & Che Ecru

clip image001

Nia Sultana, a Brooklyn singer/songwriter, debuts her soul-baring first EP Bigger Dreams on Interscope Records.

The track “Proven,” which features Rick Ross and has a soothing, hypnotic music video, arrived ahead of the new release.

The EP also includes otherworldly singles like “In The Morning” and “Ambience,” which have enabled Sultana’s already committed fan base to see the many sides of her.

“Proven” is a relatable story about shaky relationships and what occurs when one partner works harder than the other. The song sweeps across the ears like a soft breeze, with its low-key snare beat and soaring synth strings. “You’re only interested when someone’s stepping up and I start questioning this situationship and the time that I’ve put in,” Sultana ponders. Ricky Rozay adds in a verse painting a luxurious picture of the life they could share.

Sultana is set among natural springs and lush foliage in the song’s video, which emphasizes the song’s intensely personal character. “Proven,” with its sensitivity and boldness, is a strong start to Sultana’s Bigger Dreams EP, on which she explores the many stages of love: falling in love, falling out of love, and everything in between. From the cheek-blushing ballad “Element” through the self-care hymn “In The Morning” to the uplifting title tune, the album reflects self-respect. Sultana, on the other hand, knows when to let loose and be vulnerable, like she did on “Entirely.”

Sultana first gained the attention of alternative R&B fans with her 2019 single “Coconut Water,” a soothing track that received praise from publications such as NPR and was featured on YouTube’s popular Escape Tracks platform. She’s a Brooklyn gal through and through, and her music has a unique edge as she explores the beauty in adversity while building reassuring affirmations with each bar. Sultana’s strong blend of Quiet Storm soul and poetic songcraft provides a dose of the healing R&B the world needs right now on Biggers Dreams.

You can hear the EP below.

Today In Hip Hop History: Ja Rule Dropped His ‘Venni Vetti Vecci’ Album 23 Years Ago

On this day in Hip Hop history, Queens rapper Ja Rule released his debut LP Venni Vetti Vicci. As the first release ofrom Irv Gotti‘s Murder Inc. record label, this project carried a lot of weight on its shoulders as the breakthrough for not only Ja Rule’s career but the career and integrity of Murder Inc Records as a whole.

Fortunately enough, the album was a hit and launched Ja Rule and Murder Inc. up among the ranks of some of New York’s most respected and successful rappers. Ja Rule’s force, style, and energy blended perfectly with and help grow the popularity of the East Coast hardcore movement that was taking place in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The mix of high energy, club jam production and hardcore gangster lyricism is what made this album so appealing. Although it could be said that Ja Rule wasn’t the greatest with the pen, the party appeal of this project kept it flying off the shelves in record stores across the country. The album’s commercial reception was more than any one could ask for a debut album peaking at #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart and #3 on the Billboard 200 chart all while going platinum in the year of its release.
