Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, announces the release of Shaboozey’s live performance of “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” off his album Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going.

Shaboozey blends country and hip-hop genres, creating songs that feel as epic as a movie; gripping, unpredictable, immense in scope but rooted in raw emotion. On his new album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, Shaboozey charts a cinematic road trip through the wilds of the American West, bringing a powerful new depth to his storytelling whilst pushing further into the country/folk-inspired sound he’s explored in recent years.

Originally from Northern Virginia, Shaboozey pulls inspiration from other DMV artists like Missy Elliot, Pharell and Timbaland. After a decade of perfecting his sound, Shaboozey skyrocketed to the mainstream after being featured in two songs on Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album: “Sweet Honey Buckiin” and “Spaghetti.” His album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, was released shortly after, with the standout single “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” built around J-Kwon’s 2004 hit, “Tipsy.” The track most recently became the longest-running #1 single in the Hot 100 of 2024, having now been in the top spot for eight weeks and counting.

“I’ve been doing music for such a long time, I’ve put a lot of time and years into it,” Shaboozey said in a recent interview, “I put so much into it that I feel like it’s just cool to see it working. Everybody hopes it works. To see it actually working, it’s unreal.”

On Vevo, Shaboozey has garnered over 147 million global views in 2024 so far, with the official video for “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” currently Vevo’s #1 most-viewed country video this year.

Ransom, Conway The Machine & V Don Release ‘Chaos Is My Ladder 2’ Project

Screenshot 2024 09 06 at 10.02.11 AM

Ransom and V Don closed out 2022 with a pre-Christmas drop entitled Chaos Is My Ladder.  The sequel, offers even more bars, as Chaos Is My Ladder 2 unites two of the most revered MCs in the game, each known for their unparalleled lyricism and uncompromising style. The project represents a fusion of Ransom’s razor-sharp wordplay, Conway The Machine’s effortless flow and gritty storytelling, and production by V Don that complements the lyrical acrobatics Ransom and Conway display.

Chaos Is My Ladder 2 promises to be one of the most impactful underground projects of the year.  Ran and Con bar up to the point that there is only room for one guest appearance, Lloyd Banks (who also made an appearance on CIML), who appeared on the project’s lead single “Higher Killer.”

“When V Don and I were recording Chaos Is My Ladder, we planned on making a series of releases.  It wasn’t until we started recording CIML2, that we came up with the concept of bringing in a guest collaborator for each volume in the series.” Ransom recalls.  “Conway was the first and only choice for CIML2.  I know our fans will agree, it’s rarified air to get a project by two of the top lyricists in the game.”

“Ran and Con are both top-tier lyricists; putting them together over my production is next-level pure madness…pure chaos” V Don adds.

Ransom, Conway The Machine & V Don’s Chaos Is My Ladder 2 is now available!

Kurious Shares “Untainted” Off MF DOOM Executive Produced Album

Screenshot 2024 09 05 at 1.04.26 PM

NYC Hip Hop mainstay Kurious has shared today the second track off his forthcoming album Majician, titled “Untainted”. The song and album were executive produced by his longtime friend and collaborator MF DOOM before his passing and produced by Mono En Stereo.

With its throwback beat and Kurious’ steady, driving lyrics, he explains the meaning behind the titled, saying, “That’s a term DOOM used to use a lot. If you play him something that’s tainted, or something is wrong with it, and I don’t know if you’ve ever seen him listening to shit he dont’ like, it literally hurts him, it’s like a migraine. He’s such a genius, and he’s hearing all kinds of shit…he’ll squint his eyes that certain way, or put his hands on his temple, and be like, “yo, don’t play me that….”.

[WATCH] Tekashi 6ix9ine Drops “Repuesta” Diss Aimed At Ex-GF Yailin La Mas Viral

Screenshot 2024 09 05 at 11.13.38 AM

Never one be far removed from drama, Tekashi 6ix9ine has decided to use his own personal drama to generate some views and this time it involves his former flame, singer Yailin La Mas Viral. The troubled, and now wanted, Brooklyn rapper dropped “Repuesta”, a diss track along with a video yesterday(September 4) aimed at ex-girlfriend and fellow artist Yailin La Mas Viral and the ‘Get The Strap” rapper goes in on his former lover.

Even though all of the lyrics are in Spanish(and can understood in depth by those who speak the language), the visual for Repuesta(which means response) gives viewers 6ix9ine’s perception of the rocky relationship between the two artists. Also, with Tekashi known for his flamboyant wears and hairstyles, toned it down this time around, donning a black suit while casually spitting his verses instead of his signature screaming style.

The visual includes footage of the rapper and Yailin La Mas Viral when they were still together. The duo dated throughout 2023 before ending things in August. Footage also includes 6ix9ine interacting with Yailin La Mas Viral’s son, whom she shares with Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA. The relationship publicly went sour when it was reported that 6ix9ine was arrested in the Dominican Republic on domestic violence charges back in January after a report was made by Yailin’s mother.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Dominates Spotify’s 2024 Global Songs of Summer

Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Retakes No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

As summer draws to a close, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has emerged as one of Spotify’s 2024 Global Songs of Summer. The track captures the spirit of the season and resonates deeply with listeners across the Northern Hemisphere. Selected by Spotify’s global music editorial team, it represents the hip-hop genre among a diverse set of songs that defined summer 2024.

“Not Like Us” transcended the rap beef that inspired it, driving a massive surge in streams for Kendrick Lamar’s entire catalog on Spotify immediately after its release. The song saw its most significant spike on June 20 globally and in the US, coinciding with Kendrick’s highly-attended Juneteenth concert in Los Angeles, which boosted its momentum.

The release of the “Not Like Us” music video on July 4th further propelled the track, leading it to dominate Spotify’s US Chart for 28 consecutive days at the number one spot. As the anthem continued to gain traction, it became a defining sound of the summer, encapsulating the season’s energy and securing its place among Spotify’s top picks.

Also featured in Spotify’s 2024 Songs of Summer are Billie Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER,” a dreamy and introspective track that captured listeners’ imaginations, and Chappell Roan’s “HOT TO GO!” an upbeat anthem that fueled summer parties. Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” brought a smooth, pop-infused vibe, while Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” added a playful touch, rounding out the eclectic mix of tracks that defined summer 2024.

Following this week’s announcement of his highly anticipated debut album, COYOTE, being set for release September 27th via ISO Supremacy/PULSE RecordTommy Richman continues adding on to his monumental summer run with the release of his latest single, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE”Following this week’s announcement of his highly anticipated debut album, COYOTE, being set for release September 27th via ISO Supremacy/PULSE RecordTommy Richman continues adding on to his monumental summer run with the release of his latest single, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE”.

Having teased the single on his TikTok last week, “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE” comes as the first official release off COYOTE, giving fans an early taste of the project Tommy announced as album of the year during his late-night TV debut performance of “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

The new single comes as a downtempo heartstring-pulling alt-R&B ballad, steering away from the upbeat funk sonics of his previous dance-rooted viral hits “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” and “DEVIL IS A LIE.” Tommy’s melodic vocal layers floating over the song’s vintage drum-machine groove, hazy chord progression, and howling synth lead highlight the creative maverick’s boundless artistic range as he reflects on previous heartbreak.

Directed by Lonewolf, the new music video shows Tommy cruising through the desert with a female companion, reminiscing about the lovely moments they once shared. Scenic mountain shots alternate with footage of Tommy serenading his dream girl under the night sky, until he’s hit with the heavy reality of the situation and wakes up from his dream among a pack of wolves. An eerie clip of a lone wolf overlooking the highway closes out the video, symbolizing Tommy’s journey so far. “It’s a great example of slowing things down a little bit… It’s not always about the hype songs. I’m versatile,” says Tommy.

Mary J. Blige Speaks on Retirement: ‘In a Little While It Will Be Time’

Mary J. Blige to Receive Entertainment Icon Honors at Urban One Honors: Best in Black Event

Mary J. Blige is still considering retirement within this decade. Speaking with Us Weekly, she stated, “When it’s time, it’s time.”

“Sometimes I get fatigued,” MJB said. “I’ve been doing this for thirty-something years. In a little while, it will be time.”

What does retirement look like for The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul? “Retirement looks like traveling the world, going to places I never been before. Relaxing on yachts, in home, and enjoying the fruits of my labor.”

You can hear more from Mary J. Blige below.

Recently, Mary J. Blige dropped a brand new single, “Breathing,” featuring Fabolous.

The single, released through Blige’s own Beautiful Life Productions in partnership with 300 Entertainment, was produced by Shaun “S Dot” Thomas. The song was written by Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, Jocelyn “Jozzy” Donald, PurpleKBeats, and Jay Hawkins and contains samples of “Kick In The Door” by The Notorious B.I.G and “I Put A Spell On You” by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. Blige was additionally inspired by Nina Simone’s rendition of “I Put a Spell on You.”

“Breathing” is Blige’s second single since the release of Good Morning Gorgeous, her critically acclaimed 15th studio album that received six GRAMMY® nominations at the 65th GRAMMY® Awards, including Album of the Year and Best R&B Album.

Her first single following the album, “Still Believe in Love,” was released in October 2023 and spent 7 weeks at #1 on The Billboard Adult R&B Airplay Chart. This marked her eighth #1 on the chart, cementing her as having the third-most No. 1s among women artists in the chart’s 30-year history.

“Breathing” showcases Blige’s unparalleled vocals and intimate lyricism. It is a song about what she promised: being happy where she is and reveling in it. Again, Blige proves why she was heralded as the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul.”

[WATCH] Vevo, Juvenile and Mannie Fresh Release Performance Videos For “Back That Azz Up” And “Party”

Screenshot 2024 08 28 at 3.47.02 PM

Vevo, the world’s leading music video network, announces Juvenile and Mannie Fresh as the next artists in their Ctrl series with a performance of “Back That Azz Up” and “Party” premiering today.

Vevo’s Ctrl series highlights the work of hard-hitting, cutting-edge musicians making an impact in today’s music scene – both emerging and established. These artists demand attention, and Vevo’s Ctrl shines a deserving spotlight. Juvenile and Mannie Fresh’s performances follow sessions from Rick Ross, Common, Rapsody, Fat Joe, Jeezy, Jadakiss, Fabolous, A$AP Ferg and more.

New Orleans rapper Juvenile is a Southern hip-hop veteran. Born Terius Gray, Juvenile was one of the initial figures involved in New Orleans’ “bounce” craze of the early ’90s, an uptempo style of hip-hop that combined gangster rap and party music. In 1997, Juvenile joined Cash Money, releasing his album Solja Rags that same year, as well as joining fellow Cash Money artists Lil Wayne, B.G., and Turk in the Hot Boys, who also released their debut album, Get It How U Live!. Both debuts were produced in total by Mannie Fresh, who was back for Juvenile’s 1998 solo release 400 Degreez, his platinum-selling, breakthrough effort thanks in part to the successful single “Back That Azz Up”.

In 1998, Mannie Fresh, half of the brains behind the Cash Money label, formed Big Tymers with Birdman, releasing a series of successful singles and albums. In 2004, Mannie busted out on his own with The Mind of Mannie Fresh, before returning to produce several tracks on Juvenile’s album Rejuvenation in 2012.

The two Cash Money heavyweights now reunite to perform their iconic hit, “Back That Azz Up” and “Party” for Vevo’s Original Content series, Ctrl.
