Tobe Nwingwe, Dominique Fishback and Anthony Ramos on Preparing To Deliver a Box Office Hit in ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beast’

Tobe Nwingwe, Dominique Fishback and Anthony Ramos on Preparing To Deliver a Box Office Hit in ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beast’

Transformers: Rise of the Beast is the seventh installment of the evergreen franchise. The film stars Dominique Fishback, Anthony Ramos, and Tobe Nwingwe.

Fishback, Ramos, and Nwingue speak on their experience while filming the movie and leading up to it.

Regarding living up to any expectations, Ramos and Fishback stood tall on their acting chops.

“I wouldn’t call it any more pressure than my desire to be authentic as a character,” says Fishback. “You can’t go wrong if you live in the heart of your character. “I do my best to follow the heart of my character.”

Ramos agreed with his co-star while also praising the previous leading actors of the franchise.

“Shia LeBeouf and Mark Wahlberg set a pretty high bar as far as male leads,” he begins. “I try not to think about how good they were. The movie is not just about me, so it helps to have new characters and elements to help me to be my best.”

Nwingwe acted in the film and provided the leading song for the movie’s soundtrack entitled “On My Soul,” featuring Nas and Jacob Banks. The song is featured in the movie’s final battle scene as well.

2023 has brought about a number of debuts for Nwigwe. He also made his Coachella debut back in April, where h was introduced to the stage by Autobots leader Optimus Prime.

“My first idea was to get all of the Transformers down there and have them all in mint (color),” said Nwingwe. “But we were pressed for time and Paramount was able to at least make Optimus (Prime) happen.

Transformers: Rise of The Beast also made history by casting the first Black director of the film in Steven Caple Jr.

“You focus on the product and the story you want to tell,” he says. “We accomplished what we wanted to do, and that’s to have people connect to the film itself.”

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts debuted at No. 1 in its opening weekend with $60.5 million in domestic sales.

Ja Rule Reveals He Declined Fast And Furious Role Because He Was Making More Money At The Time

Rapper Ja Rule played the role of Edwin in the original 2001 Fast and Furious movie. His character unfortunately didn’t reappear in 2 Fast 2 Furious or any of the various sequels that followed it and Ja Rule is revealing it was about money. However, things could’ve been different if the Grammy nominee had stayed on for the sequels. His character  was ultimately  replaced by franchise staple Tej Parker, played by Ludacris. Almost two decades later, the rapper is explaining why he turned down the opportunity and revealed whether or not he regrets it.

The billboard charting rapper was offered the chance to be a lead role in the 2003 sequel alongside Paul Walker and Tyrese. During that time, he was dominating the music charts with hits like “Always on Time” and “Livin’ It Up.” During an interview with Insider, Ja reveals how money played a role in his decision to choose music over the blockbuster franchise:

“I was probably the biggest artist in the rap game. I’ll propose this to you: I’m John Singleton. I’m gonna offer you $500,000 to shoot a movie for three months. Or I’m going on a tour and I’m gonna make close to $15 million in the span of less than two months. Well, what you doing? Who knew that there was going to be 10 of them? But even still, I would’ve had to do 10 movies to make that kind of money, or at least eight.”

Despite the franchise going on to become a huge success, Ja doesn’t regret his decision.

“I don’t at all. Everybody has become the Monday morning quarterback: ‘He missed out on doing 10 ‘Fast & Furious’ movies.’ That’s okay. I’m fine with that. I’m Ja Rule, the amazing artist that has had an amazing career, an amazing songwriter. That’s who I am. That’s who people see me as. That’s who I want to be revered as.”

Damson Idris Reveals He Had Nightmares After Saying ‘Come on Devil’ to Get Past Acting Block

Damson Idris went to a really dark place in order to complete Snowfall season 6. Speaking on a roundtable with other performers, Idris revealed he wanted to go dark for the conclusion of Franklin Saint, and it had real-life repercussions he didn’t expect.

In the season, Saint was called the devil, and he was aiming to get as deep into character as possible.

“This last season, I was hitting a block, and I went into a corner and went ‘come on devil, come on devil, come to me, come to me,” Idris revealed. “I had nightmares for a month. I had nightmares every day. I felt that energy. I had to pray and do all this stuff to get rid of it. I called my mom up and asked her to ‘bring me back to life.’ That stuff is real.”

Idris had to do a lot for Snowfall‘s sixth and final season, which ended with Franklin Saint walking the streets of Los Angeles, an alcoholic and now homeless, much like his father Alton.

The series’ closing moments were the final pieces of a teardown that once saw Saint flying as high as private jets and piloting his own planes. His girlfriend and mother of his son, Veronique, gone, in the wind, with the last of Franklin’s money. His Aunt Louie is on the run for life from federal authorities. Leon and Wanda are bouncing back and forth between Africa and Los Angeles. Franklin’s mom, Cissy, is presumed to spend the rest of her life in prison.

Speaking with Deadline after the series had concluded, the actor who portrayed Franklin Saint, Damson Idris, pulled back the curtain on filming those final moments of the series.

“His final moments were incredibly challenging. There was a fatherhood connection there, which I connected to personally so it was deeply emotional for me. Franklin’s connection to his father and his becoming an alcoholic was incredibly difficult,” Idris said.

He added, “Behind the scenes, I had a little flask with me that no one knew about. I would touch it with my lips just to have the taste. I’ll also admit that I didn’t shower. Luckily I wasn’t disrupting anyone with any odors.”

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Announces New Standalone Luke Hobbs ‘Fast & Furious’ Film

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is fully diving back into the world of Luke Hobbs and Fast & Furious.

Ahead of the release of Fast X, The Wrap revealed that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would return to the series, reversing his previous desire to stay away.

Johnson did just that, appearing in a post-credit scene as Luke Hobbs. Now, Deadline reveals the Hobbs character will receive another standalone movie.

“Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us,” The Rock said. “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”

In November 2021, series star Vin Diesel hit Instagram, begging The Rock to return to the franchise. At the time, The Rock responded: “I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return.”

He added, “Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation.”

Industry insiders believe The Rock rejoining the franchise halts a cold streak that included Red Notice, Skyscraper, and more.

Serena Williams’ Daughter Olympia Overjoyed After Receiving Halle Bailey ‘The Little Mermaid’ Doll

Halle Bailey Stars in 'The Little Mermaid' Full Trailer

The Little Mermaid is currently the biggest movie across the globe. One of the fans of the film is Serena Williams’ five-year-old daughter, Olympia, who received the Halle Bailey “Ariel” doll and exploded in joy.

The moment was captured by Williams as her husband, Alexis Ohanian passed the doll to their daughter.

The Little Mermaid has made a splash at the box office. For Memorial Day weekend, the live-action versions of The Little Mermaid brought in $118 million over the holiday weekend. $96 million of that total came in the three-day frame.

According to Vareity, the film will be the fifth highest Memorial Day opening in history.

“It’s a classic,” said Tony Chambers, Disney’s head of distribution. “You ask a lot of women or men of my age and it’s ‘Little Mermaid’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ that rank as their favorite animated movie. It’s a story that takes them back to their respective childhoods and this movie is the perfect opportunity for a lot of people to pass that love on to the next generation.”

Following The Little Mermaid was Fast X at $28.7 million and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at $25.3 million.

Ludacris Shares Why ‘Fast and Furious’ Movies Keep Coming: ‘We’re Making Billions’

Ludacris Shares Why 'Fast and Furious' Movies Keep Coming: 'We're Making Billions'

Fast X is currently furiously running up the millions at the global box office. But some movie watchers are asking why this is still going on. Ludacris gave a simple answer; we are rolling in billions of dollars.

Speaking on All The Smoke, Ludacris revealed why the question of “why another Fast movie” is “the dumbest fucking question in the world.

“No matter what industry we in, podcasts, music, movies, it’s all about a bottom line,” Luda said. “It’s about how much you spend compared to how much you make. We’re making billions of fucking dollars, and I’m just giving you my heart I’m not trying to brag or nothing.”

He added, “if you spend 200 million and you make a billion, who the fuck is you gonna tell to stop shooting movies when you’re making 800 million dollars?

He makes a valid point.

Fast & Furious will never die. With one of the final (?) chapters of the Fast Franchise in theaters, Vin Diesel has revealed a spin-off series is in development. Speaking with Variety, Vin Diesel said he will dive into new stories once he wraps the original.

“I started developing the female spinoff…in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the projects,” Diesel said.

With a woman-led spinoff in the works, Diesel’s co-star Michelle Rodrigez, who plays Letty, isn’t sure about returning for it. “You pass the baton on. You take the back seat,” she said. “You go passenger side. When it comes the next generation, you have to. It’s the only way to let them define the future.”

Fast X raced into box offices this past weekend behind an impressive $67.5 million opening weekend in America, replacing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3 at the top spot.

The film also marked the return of one of the series’ biggest stars. More on that here.
