Julia Fox Describes Her Upcoming Movie As A Mix Of “Weekend At Bernie’s” & “Spring Breakers”

Julia Fox says that she’s working on a new feature film and compared the project to “Weekend at Bernie’s” and “Spring Breakers.” The Uncut Gems star spoke about the project with Page Six during the iconic Cannes Film Festival.

“It’s about these two girls and they are in LA. They are classic,” Fox told the outlet of the new feature. “One is an aspiring actress, and the other is a nepotism baby. But her dad had like seven kids, so the pool has been diluted. They’re drug addicts, so they are in recovery, but they are always in and out. One has a sugar daddy.” Fox added that there is a “dead body involved somewhere.” She also joked, “My friends always say I would make a great dictator. But what I am hoping they mean is that I would make a great director.”

Weekend At Bernie’s released back in 1989 and follows two young insurance corporation employees who discover that their boss, Bernie, is dead. To avoid being suspected of causing his death, they try to convince people he is still alive. Spring Breakers, on the other hand, is much newer, having released in 2013. The Harmony Korine film follows four college students who become involved in a life of crime while vacationing in Florida.

At the festival, Fox attended the premiere of HBO’s new series, The Idol. The Weeknd is credited as a co-creator of the show with Euphoria’s Sam Levinson and also stars alongside Lily-Rose Depp, Rachel Sennott, Dan Levy, Troye Sivan, and many more. Critics had mixed reactions to the premiere. In a review for The Hollywood Reporter, Lovia Gyarkye wrote: “Rarely does a scene go by without the camera showing flashes of her breasts or ass. You start to wonder if this is building to anything, and by episode two it seems likely that it’s probably not.” The show will begin airing on HBO on June 4.

Travis Scott Teases “Utopia” At Cannes Film Festival

Houston-born rapper Travis Scott continues to tease his upcoming album, Utopia. Yesterday, Scott made an appearance at France’s Cannes Film Festival to attend the premiere of The Weeknd’s new HBO series with Lily-Rose Depp, The Idol. Scott walked the red carpet, and his security guard had the rapper’s famous Utopia briefcase in tow. Some reports even claim that Scott was seen opening the mysterious briefcase at the premiere. Utopia should arrive soon, with Epic Records’ CEO Sylvia Rhone stating earlier this year, “We have a new Travis Scott record, expected to come in June.” Scott also wore a previously-unseen pair of Nike sneakers to the event, leading to speculation that they could be a new Cactus Jack x Jordan product.

Scott has been taking an unconventional approach to promoting his latest album. He’s gone so far as to handcuff a briefcase labeled “Utopia” to a member of his security team. As of late, he’s continuously made appearances alongside the coveted briefcase. Earlier this month, Scott shared Utopia with the Houston Astros ahead of their game against the Chicago Cubs. In a video that circulated the internet, Scott told fans to expect the album soon. Early this month, as hype surrounding Utopia grew unmanageable for fans, one track reportedly from the album titled “Gold Blackberry” leaked on the internet.

Scott also recently joined athlete Tom Brady in attending a luncheon hosted by Michael Rubin for a group of young players making their transition from college football to the NFL. Scott reportedly told the athletes how important it is for them to maintain a solid inner-circle and hold them accountable. Brady gave the players advice, sharing, “I had to keep working. I didn’t go, ‘Hey, I’m good, I won three Super Bowls.’”

Scott also teamed up with fellow rapper Offset recently, to preview new music together at Rolling Loud Thailand. The rappers also reportedly brought a fan onstage during their set.

Julia Fox’s Cannes Red Carpet Look May Be Her Most Salacious Yet

Julia Fox is best known for bringing her unique fashion sense to events, parties, and red carpets all over America. Now, the mother of one is unleashing more of her most eccentric looks overseas in France at Cannes Film Festival. She’s already stepped out for two separate functions. Both of them have seen her turning heads for reasons only Fox could. One of them was the highly anticipated premiere of The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp’s The Idol. For that, she covered her face in ghostly white makeup.

To contrast her pale complexion, Fox added black lipstick and donned a gown that, from afar, almost appears to be made out of plastic bags. It remains unclear exactly what the Uncut Gems starlet’s vision was. Nevertheless, she certainly had all eyes on at the Palais des Festivals today (May 22). Thankfully, her other Cannes outfit is getting far more praise online – and it’s so racy we can’t even share photos here.

On Sunday (May 21), the Italian entertainer stepped out for the Art of Elysium “Paradis” 25th-anniversary party. While her bottom half was covered by a flowing white maxiskirt trailing out in front of her, though her entire chest was on full display under a see-through breastplate. Maintaining some modesty, Fox used metallic nipple covers to hide her areolas, though from a distance it looks as though she’s left everything out in the open. Her hair was pulled back into a messy but elegant bun, ensuring that her midsection was the centre of attention.

Of course, this isn’t the only wild outfit we’ve seen the model rocking lately. Last week, she made a safe-sex statement in a condom-covered look that had the internet laughing. Find photos of Julia Fox freeing the nipple at another Cannes red carpet event here. For more pop culture and hip-hop news updates, tap back in with HNHH later.

The Weeknd’s Controversial ‘The Idol’ TV Series Will Make Its Debut At The 2023 Cannes Film Festival

It’s been almost two years since Variety broke the news that The Weeknd and Sam Levinson were developing a drama for HBO. There was serious doubt whether The Idol would ever actually premiere on HBO after Rolling Stone published a troubling report on March 1 about the workplace culture on the set.

Today, April 13, the lineup for the 2023 Cannes Film Festival was revealed on its official website, and The Idol is slated to premiere in the Out Of Competition category alongside James Mangold’s Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, Kim Jee-woon’s Cobweb, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers Of The Flower Moon. The 2023 Cannes Film Festival will be held from May 16 to May 27.

“HERE WE GO,” The Weeknd tweeted.

Yesterday, April 12, The Weeknd teased The Idol Vol. 1 with a tweet showing him in the studio listening to swelling orchestral music. “THE IDOL VOL. 1 [CD emoji] coming soon (double fantasy & jealous guy just a taste,” he wrote.

According to IMDb, The Idol follows “a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult [The Weeknd] enters a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol [Lily-Rose Depp].”

The Weeknd tweeted a clip from the series in response to Rolling Stone‘s bombshell report, which, among many things, alleged that working on The Idol was “a sh*tshow” and “Levinson’s scripts contained disturbing sexual and physically violent scenes between Depp and [The Weeknd]’s character.”

Watch that clip below, or watch a teaser trailer above.

The Weeknd’s HBO Series “The Idol” Will Debut At Cannes Film Festival

What can’t The Weeknd do? The Canadian pop star remains one of the most ambitious figures in pop culture these days. Projects like Dawn FM and After Hours explored an entirely different sound than what we’ve known from him. Still, his talents aren’t limited to the booth. The Weeknd expanded into film and television in recent years. He starred as himself in Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems. Now, he’s currently plotting the release of his upcoming HBO series The Idol.

The anticipated series, Sam Levinson’s follow-up to Euphoria, has faced its fair share of ups and downs since its announcements. However, it looks like it’ll finally make its debut this year.  Cannes Delegate General Thierry Frémaux announced The Weeknd’s HBO series The Idol will debut in France as part of Official Selection Out of Competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Frémaux said The Weeknd will likely appear at the Croisette, alongside co-star Lily-Rose Depp, since he’s actually a regular at the festival. At this point, details remain unclear surrounding the series. However, other series, according to Variety, has debuted two episodes for the festival.

The Weeknd Brings “The Idol” To Cannes

Although the series is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated of the year, it’s faced its fair share of controversies. There have been a number of personnel changes including director Amy Seimetz and actress Suzanna Son, who both left the show. Then, there were rumors that The Weeknd wasn’t particularly approving of the show’s direction as he felt it relied too heavily on the “female perspective” of Depp’s character rather than his own. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it as Rolling Stone published an investigative article where sources described some unflattering details about the set, which The Weeknd later denied with a clip from the show.

At this point, there isn’t a release date set for The Idol. However, it looks like it’ll be coming to HBO before the end of the year. The Weeknd already announced the release of the score, The Idol Vol. 1, though he hasn’t set a release date for it, either. With his potential appearance at Coachella this weekend, perhaps, we could expect him to debut a song or two from the project there. Perhaps, the recently teased collaboration with Future is expected to land on The Idol Vol. 1 as well.
