Did Drake Diss Future On “More M’s?”

Drake and Future’s musical relationship came to a crossroads following the release of We Don’t Trust You. Future’s latest album with Metro Boomin recently shook the rap game, separating them from their adversaries. Additionally, Kendrick Lamar’s show-stopping verse on “Like That” put “The Big Three” on notice with disses against Drake and J. Cole. Certain lyrics on We Don’t Trust You, including the album’s title, have prompted fans to look back into Drake and Future’s relationship.

They specifically turned to Drake’s verse on “More M’s” from his 2022 collaborative album with 21 Savage. Drizzy took shots at an unnamed target on the Her Loss track, which many initially assumed to be The Weeknd. Some even alleged the lyrics were aimed towards Metro Boomin, who produced the track. We Don’t Trust You puts Drake’s “More M’s” verse in a brand new light, sparking fan theories that he was actually dissing Future. Today, we are revisiting the verse in the context of Drake and Future’s bubbling feud.

Unpacking Drake’s Verse On “More M’s”

The first shot that Drake sends on “More M’s” is quite cryptic. He raps, “Dissin’ on his album and it flopped, he deserved it.” While the line clearly aims at a fellow artist, it cannot be Future. In 2022, I Never Liked You debuted at No. 1 earlier that year. One cannot interpret it as a Pusha T diss, either, when It’s Almost Dry also secured a No. 1 chart position. Drake continues to take shots in the following lyric, rapping, “Come up out that booth and bring that energy in person.”

Many assumed this lyric to be about Metro Boomin following their alleged discrepancies. However, it could be directed towards Future due to their subliminal exchanges. Next, Drake asks, “What happened to that n***a claiming OVO? We traded him.” Some understood this line as a dig at The Weeknd due to their early collaborations, but he never signed to OVO nor flopped. For those same reasons, it cannot be about Future.

Drake May Have Dissed Future

Looking at the end of Drake’s “More M’s” verse, some lyrics may diss Future, given recent developments surrounding We Don’t Trust You and their reported beef. “N****s see my deal, look at they deal and now they hate the kid,” he raps in reference to artists envious of him for his lucrative record contracts. The line could be about the Future or speak more broadly to Drake’s competition.

Continuing the sneak diss, he spits, “N****s ain’t got love for the boy, so they fake it. Crack a couple jokes to some b*tches on some snake sh*t / But if I send a verse to they ass, then they’ll take it. Shoot a video, arm around me like we aces or pop out at my shows, jump around with me on stages.” Drake and Future’s relationship dates back almost a decade, collaborating on music, touring the country, and shooting music videos together. The fake love referenced on “More M’s” points to a close collaborator, and Future could easily be the intended target.

Drake’s last lyric ultimately points to his What a Time To Be Alive counterpart, considering fan theories about them reportedly beefing over a woman. He raps, “Might’ve f*cked a rapper, girl, but you ain’t f*cked Drake yet,” solidifying this theory. Ultimately, Drake has a storied history of subliminal disses, so these lyrics could be aimed in other directions. If they are, fans have yet to pick up on it.

Joe Budden Seems To Think So

Among fans with similar theories about Drake and Future’s reported beef is Joe Budden. In the latest episode of his podcast, Budden and his co-hosts delved into We Don’t Trust You, Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse, and the Drake and Future beef. They specifically dissected the lyrics of Drake’s “More M’s” verse. Budden applied it to Future and speculated that they are indeed beefing over a woman. “They fighting over girls like all the rappers always have,” Budden said of the verse’s final line. “There’s only a few people he could be talking to,” his co-hosts also chimed in.

Joe Budden connected “More M’s” to Drake’s “What Would Pluto Do” from For All the Dogs, hinting at an escalation of his reported “static” with Future. Budden also theorized Future’s “Everyday Hustle” as a diss track. Regardless of his current standing with Drake, Joe Budden fueled the rumors of “More M’s” being a jab at Future, finding it thoroughly entertaining. These theories may be speculative, but “More M’s” could be aimed toward Future, considering Drake’s affinity for subliminal disses.

21 Savage Defends Drake’s Bar Over Possible Megan Thee Stallion Diss On “Circo Loco”

Drake and 21 Savage unleashed Her Loss in November of last year but there’s no denying the grip it had on 2023. The album delivered countless bangers that are still in rotation but one song in particular ruffled a few feathers. On “Circo Loco,” Drake seemingly dissed Megan Thee Stallion, weeks before Tory Lanez was expected to stand trial for shooting the Houston rapper. “That b*tch lie ‘bout getting shots but she still a stallion,” Drake raps on the song. Without mentioning Megan, the Canadian rapper’s words reverberated across the internet.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, 21 Savage opened up about the controversial bar while defending his collaborator. “I don’t feel like that was his intention [to diss Megan],” 21 Savage stated. “Remember when I said I was telling him to not hold back, people tried to twist that to make it seem like I was talking about that situation.” He added, “That bar was more of, like, a joke bar than him trying to say something about her. But I don’t really like speaking on people’s situations because life be real.”

“Circo Loco” Controversy

Lil Yachty previously defended Drake following the controversy as well. Hopping on Instagram Live following the release of Drake & 21 Savage’s Her Loss, Yachty, who has writing credits on “Circo Loco,” denied that the Toronto artist tried to make fun of Megan. “I know he’s not going to address it, because I know Drake,” he said. “It’s not about Megan it’s about women lying about their butt shots saying it’s real when it’s fake.” Still, Drake has yet to comment on the bars.

While Tory Lanez has since been convicted of shooting Megan, she initially called out Drake for using her name for clout. Interestingly enough, Megan Thee Stallion landed writing credits on Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss on the intro song, “Rich Flex,” which is also up for a Grammy. Are you still listening to Her Loss? Let us know what you think of 21 Savage’s comments below.

Drake Appears To Take Shots At Metro Boomin

Although Drake and Metro Boomin have undoubtedly made a few hits together, they’re not necessarily in good standing with each other. Now, there have been rumors of a feud between the two for over a year, first starting with the release date of Heroes & Villains being pushed back. Some fans believed it was due to Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss, which Metro denied. However, when he revealed that he removed Drake’s verse from “Trance” alongside Young Thug and Travis Scott, some felt as though he harbored resentment towards the Canadian rapper.

We can’t confirm nor deny whether there were any issues between them at that point. However, Metro Boomin’s recent tweet-and-delete regarding Her Loss’ reign at award shows caught plenty of attention online. “Yet her loss still keeps winning rap album of the year over H&V. proof that award shows are just politics and not for me,” Metro tweeted. “Idc about awards honestly, the true award and REWARD is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to peoples everyday lives.” Metro later deleted the tweet. In response, Drake shared a screenshot of lyrics from Jay-Z’s “Heart Of The City.”

Drake Fires Back

Although the feud between the two seemed to have died down, fans believe that Drake may have poked at Metro Boomin during his recent Kick stream. While the rapper was on his Drake x Stake vibes, he toasted his fans tuning in while taking a slight jab at the producer. “To the rest of you, the non-believers, the underachievers, the tweet-and-deleters, you guys make me sick to my stomachs, fam,” he said as he held his drink and looked into the camera. “Honestly, look in my eyes,” he added as he got closer to the camera. “You wanna do somethin’? That’s what I thought.”

He never mentioned Metro by name but it didn’t take long for fans to try and piece thing together. Considering Metro’s post regarding Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss was taken down shortly after it began gaining traction, it wouldn’t be far off to think that the Canadian rapper was throwing shots in his direction. Drake Takes Action Against Metro Boomin Following “Her Loss” Comments

Drake is one of the biggest artists in the entire world, and as a result, he is always up for some awards. For instance, at the Grammys next year, he will be up for rap album of the year. Overall, this is all thanks to his collaborative project with 21 Savage. Fans love this album and it only makes sense that he would get some recognition for it. He is up against stiff competition, including Travis Scott’s Utopia, and even Metro Boomin for Heroes & Villains. It will definitely be hard for him to go out and win.

Having said that, there appears to be a feud brewing between he and Metro Boomin. In a recent yet now-deleted Twitter rant, Metro said that he was frustrated with Her Loss winning all of the awards. He acknowledged that his own album had better streaming numbers and that he deserved it a bit more. Of course, fans found these comments to be pretty wild when you consider how Metro has worked with Drake in the past. Now, however, it seems like there have been some consequences.

Drake Unfollows All Who Cross Him

In the tweet above, it was revealed that Drake actually unfollowed Metro Boomin on Instagram. Although Metro still follows Drizzy, the latter decided to take some action. Overall, it seems pretty clear as to why this happened. With Metro talking about Drake’s album so recklessly, he has since been taken out of the rapper’s circle. Needless to say, things may just get a bit awkward at the Grammys as both of these artists look to take home the big win.

Hopefully, these two can find a way to reconcile their differences. After all, they have made some amazing music together, and we would hate to see egos get in the way. Do Drake & Metro Boomin Have Beef?

Metro Boomin has had a stellar year so far. Since the release of his second studio album Heroes & Villains a year ago (December 2), the prolific producer has soundtracked one of the year’s biggest superhero movies, created alongside the incarcerated Young Thug, and even performed with a symphony orchestra.

But, as with many ambitious artists, even that hasn’t been enough for him — and unfortunately, his aspirations have put him into conflict with one of his equally successful peers. Fans are convinced that Metro has beef with Drake after the producer tweeted his frustration at Heroes & Villains being overshadowed by Drake’s 2022 album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. “Her Loss still keeps winning rap album of the year over H&V,” he wrote in response to a conversation about the disparity between the two albums’ streaming totals. “Proof that awards shows are just politics and not for me. [I don’t care] about awards honestly, the true award and reward is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to peoples everyday lives.”

While it’s unclear just which “rap album of the year” nod Metro is referring to (several publications had already posted their “Best Albums of 2023” lists at the time of the now-deleted tweet), a recent post on Drake’s Instagram Story was interpreted as a response. Posting a clip from Jay-Z’s 2001 Blueprint standout “Heart Of The City (Ain’t No Love),” Drake higlighted one line in particular. “Damn, little mans, I’m just trying to do me,” Jay raps. “If the record’s two mil, I’m just trying to move three.”

Does this consitute beef, per se? Not in my book (or Biggie’s, or Yasiin Bey’s, for that matter), but y’all like to see people argue on Twitter. Have fun with that. Meanwhile, Uproxx’s Best Albums of 2023 list is out now, so maybe you’ll get even more intenret play fights to keep you entertained.

Drake May Have Responded To Metro Boomin’s “Her Loss” Comments

Drake and Metro Boomin are two artists up for a Grammy in the rap album of the year category. Overall, this is thanks to the albums Her Loss and Heroes & Villains. Interestingly enough, these are two albums that contain a healthy dose of 21 Savage. That said, there is no telling who is going to win the award this year. It could very well go to Travis Scott for Utopia. However, it could also go to someone like Nas. No matter what, it is crystal clear that there is going to be a big reaction to whoever wins.

Interestingly enough, Metro Boomin had a lot to say over the weekend as it pertains to the race against Drake. After a hip-hop Twitter account revealed how Heroes & Villains is outstreaming Drake, Metro said “Yet Her Loss keeps winning rap album of the year over H&V.” He went on to say that he isn’t a fan of awards shows and that he maintains his love for his album. “Proof that award shows are just politics and not for me,” Metro said. “Idc about awards honestly, the true award and REWARD is knowing that the music I spend so much time on brings joy to people’s everyday lives.”

Drake Claps Back?

Drake

Eventually, Metro deleted his tweet. However, Drake still managed to seemingly get a reply in. In the Instagram story screenshot above, you can see that he quoted “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love) by Jay-Z. Damn. little mans, I’m just tryin’ to do me/ If the record’s two mil, I’m just tryin’ to move three,” his caption reads. It is not clear if this is actually a shot at Metro. However, the timing of it is definitely a bit suspicious. Either way, it is interesting to see Metro be so openly against Her Loss considering his previous work with Drizzy.

21 Savage Calls Cap On Kodak Black Claiming “Her Loss” Caused “Jimmy Cooks” Rapper To Switch Up On Him

21 Savage has hit back at claims Kodak Black made on his recent Drink Champs appearance. At one point on the show, Black ranted about how Her Loss changed Savage and led him to switch up on Black. “Drake just got an effect he do to motherf-ckers. After the album they did together, all the sudden that n-gga on that p-ssy ass sh-t,” Black ranted. However, Savage didn’t take kindly to the shade. He quote-tweeted a clip of Black’s rant, simply adding a whole load of cap emojis as his response.

Fans were split on who to side with. “How can you say it’s cap if he’s voicing his opinion on how he feels his relationship is after … just an opinion and maybe you needed to hear this,” one person argued in the comments. However, a lot of people expressed their inability to understand most of what Black said in the rant. That’s fair enough as Black is barely coherent as he ranks at N.O.R.E and DJ EFN.

Black Talks Trump And C-Murder On Drink Champs

However, shading Savage wasn’t the only thing that Black spoke about while on the long-running interview show. One of the things Black was eager to talk about was his love of Donald Trump. Trump pardoned Black before he left office in 2021. “I’m mafioso, bruh. He a Gemini just like me. His birthday three days after my sh-t. And that boy, he be vibing out here too [in Florida]”. Furthermore, Black said he wouldn’t hesitate to give Trump $1 million if the former President asked for it.

Furthermore, Black spoke on his unreleased collab with C-Murder, who has spent the last two decades in prison. “I done met them boys’ whole family and sh-t. And then bruh still f-cked with me even after Master P ain’t finish off what we was ‘bout to start.” Black said. Additionally, Black noted that his link to C-Murder led to his friendship with Monica. However, Black once again denied that he and Monica were dating, despite many rumors.

Drake May Have Just Ended His Grammys Boycott But Also Maybe Not, A New Report Indicates

Drake has a storied history of beef with the Grammys. When accepting the Best Rap Song award in 2019, he downplayed its importance in his speech. Later, he withdrew his 2022 nominations and didn’t submit any music for 2023 either (although he still managed to get a win). Now, after not submitting his previous two albums for Grammys consideration, it looks like Drake is potentially ending his beef with the Recording Academy.

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, “a source close to the situation” says Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss was submitted for Album Of The Year and Best Rap Album, while songs like “Rich Flex” and “Spin Bout U” were submitted for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Melodic Rap Performance.

THR added a note worth considering, though: “At the Grammys, Academy members involved in albums or songs — including songwriters, producers, and engineers — can submit material they worked on for awards. For example, a producer or engineer who worked on most of Her Loss, who is a member of the Academy, could submit the project for album of the year, or a songwriter who co-wrote ‘Rich Flex’ could submit it for Song Of The Year and Best Rap Song.”

So, it’s possible Drake didn’t submit the album himself or personally approve its submission. Another possibility is that he put his Grammys beef aside to not prevent 21 Savage from being nominated. Neither Drake, 21 Savage, nor the Recording Academy responded to THR‘s request for comment.

Drake Seemingly Ends Grammy Boycott, Submits “Her Loss” With 21 Savage For Consideration

Drake is reportedly ending his boycott of the Grammys with hopes of taking home a few trophies. The rapper’s long-standing issues with award shows has been well-documented. However, it seems that with the success of Her Loss, he and 21 Savage are vying for a Grammy. Per Hollywood Reporter, the rappers submitted Her Loss for consideration in the Album Of The Year and Rap Album Of The Year categories. However, given the gargantuan singles it produced, they’re also gunning to get nominated in a number of other categories.

With singles like ”Rich Flex” and “Spin Bout U” gaining significant popularity in the last year, Drake and 21 Savage have submitted those two singles in five other categories including Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. Additionally, collaborations with Travis Scott (“Meltdown”) and Young Thug (“Oh U Went”) have also been submitted to the Grammys. But, as the Hollywood Reporter notes, it’s entirely possible that someone else submitted these records for consideration on their behalf.

Drake’s Long-Standing Issues With The Grammys

Drake’s issues with the Grammys began in 2017 after “Hotline Bling” was nominated in a rap category, despite being a pop record with R&B influences. The rapper revealed that they tried to convince him to drop two concerts in London to attend the award show. In addition to opting out of attending, Drake also withdrew nominations in the past. Certified Lover Boy was nominated for two rap awards but he later backtracked. With Honestly, Nevermind, he simply didn’t submit the project or any of its singles.

In 2020, the rapper stated he felt as though the Grammys were disconnected from the culture as a whole. “I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artists that exist now and the ones that come after,” he wrote on Instagram. “It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just can’t change their ways.” Do you think Drake and 21 Savage will win a Grammy for Her Loss? Let us know in the comments below.
