DDG is discussing why he and Halle Bailey kept their pregnancy a secret.

Speaking with Hollywood Unlocked, DDG revealed the decision was to push away “negative vibes.”

“I think it was more so people was already giving us negative vibes, so it’s like why let ‘em know then make her pregnancy stressful?”

With a new baby, Halle Bailey and DDG have combined for a new Instagram for their son Halo. In the initial images on the account, Halo’s face is blurred for security.

Halo’s bio reads: “my stylist & dada @ddg run this page.. the flyest baby alive.”

Earlier this week, Halle Bailey confirmed what fans long speculated, she was pregnant. She and her boyfriend, rapper DDG, announced the birth of their son Halo on Instagram.

“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son,” Bailey wrote. “Welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥.”

Halle Bailey Unveils Before And After Pregnancy Photos With Baby Halo

Since announcing the arrival of her first child, a baby boy named Halo, Halle Bailey has continued to keep fans entertained with throwbacks to her once-hidden pregnancy. The Little Mermaid star and her partner DDG managed to keep their little one under wraps until January of this year when they confirmed fans’ suspicions with a sweet photo of their son. Fans have been impressed by the young couple’s snappy adjustment to parenthood, and for the most part, have enjoyed retroactively watching their journey.

Today, Bailey gave her Twitter/X followers yet another glimpse into her pregnancy with a couple of before and after photos. In the before shot, Bailey’s seen posing in a mirror in a hot pink outfit, her growing bump on full display. In the after photo, she poses in the same mirror, this time replacing her bump with baby Halo.

Halle Bailey Shows Off Her Transformation

“Such a beautiful mommy son duo,” one commenter notes. Another says, “I need the secret for when I have mine.” While fans are out in full force showing love to the performer and her son, others continue to criticize Bailey for keeping her pregnancy a secret. “Who cares? You didn’t show us then we don’t want to see it now,” one Instagram user writes, making it clear that they’ve held a grudge. “Your sister told us to mind our business. Now you want us to care about your pregnancy,” another angry user writes. “This is giving gaslighting.”

This is far from the first time Bailey’s received backlash for keeping her personal life private, however. Last month, she fired back at social media users dragging her for “lying,” reiterating that she simply “protected [her] own peace.” Despite criticism, it doesn’t look like Bailey will stop showing off her journey any time soon. Halle Bailey Reveals DDG Came Up With Their Son’s Name, Halo

Halle Bailey says DDG was the one who came up with the name, Halo, for their newborn son. She made the revelation during an interview with People, in which she discussed her new role as a mother. “It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” Halle told the outlet. “He’s the one who came up with his name. We just agreed, and we loved it. I love the name Halo.”

“It’s so exciting, this new role for me,” Halle further said. “I’m obsessed with my baby boy. He’s the sweetest angel in the world. It’s really helping me as I go into this new journey because I’ve never done this before. I’m discovering so many different things about myself. It’s like a dream come true.”

Further speaking with People, Halle also confirmed she and her sister, Chloe, are planning to work on new music together, later this year. “I would definitely just say you’ll see new music and new projects, and more seeing us together,” Halle teased. “It’s more blessings, and we’re just really grateful and excited to be continuing.” Over the last year, the two have focused on their respective solo careers. Halle has been dedicated to her acting career as well, starring in The Little Mermaid and appearing in The Color Purple. Halle announced that she and DDG had welcomed their first child together in a post on Instagram, last month. While she never revealed she was pregnant, there was plenty of speculation in the months leading up to the announcement.

DDG Reflects On He & Halle Bailey Becoming Parents, Jokes About Difficulty Keeping It Secret

DDG joked that fans of him and Halle Bailey need to look into “detective work” for being able to figure out they were expecting. He reflected on welcoming his first son, Halo, with the actress in a vlog post on YouTube titled, I’m A Dad Now…, on Sunday.

“I’m a dad. I’m a dad, y’all,” he began the video. “I have a son — I have a baby boy. He’s a newborn. He was actually born last year [but] we were just waiting on the right time to basically break the news or whatever. It’s been a lot of speculation.” From there, he joked fans should quit their jobs and look into “detective work,” because of the rumors about the pregnancy. He added: “It’s a blessing and I love him so much. I barely know him and he barely know me. We barely know each other. I just love him so much and it’s just a different type of feeling.”
