Lil Zay Osama Receives Surprising Prison Sentence Over Federal Gun Charge

Lil Zay Osama entered a guilty plea in his federal gun case back in May of 2024, and he finally learned what his prison sentence will be. According to a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office in New York’s Eastern District this week, reportedly obtained by Complex, the court sentenced Zay Osama – real name Isaiah Dukes – to 14 months in prison and a $10,000 fine. For those unaware, his case revolves around a modified firearm that he left in an Uber.

“Today’s sentence serves as a warning that those who possess illegal guns, particularly with switches that convert those guns into machine guns, will be held accountable for their actions and for the danger they pose to our community,” United States Attorney Breon Peace reportedly stated in the press release about Lil Zay Osama’s sentence. According to police, the 27-year-old rapper left a loaded Glock 22.40 caliber pistol with a “switch” (that lets the gun fire more than one bullet with just one trigger press) in an Uber. He was in Queens at the time to record in the studio following a Manhattan hotel visit. The driver saw Dukes holding his weapon and noticed it was still there when he left, and reported this to law enforcement.

Lil Zay Osama’s arrest followed quickly after this, along with charges of possession of a machine gun and firearm possession as a person with a felony history. NBA YoungBoy Moves His Federal Gun Case To Another State For Sentencing

NBA YoungBoy just got some massive updates in his federal gun case, and it looks like he’s trying to control as much as he can about it. Moreover, reports emerged this week that he reportedly pleaded guilty to the federal indictment on August 14, and he successfully moved his case from Baton Rouge to Utah for sentencing. “I, defendant, have been informed that a Felony Indictment is pending against me in the above designated case,” the alleged court documents read. “I wish to plead guilty to the offense charged, to consent to the disposition of the case in the District of Utah in which I am present, and to waive trial in the above captioned District.”

Furthermore, YoungBoy previously attempted to postpone the case. “After Rahimi, it is still an open question whether Congress can simply prohibit all convicted felons, regardless of the nature of the felony, from possessing a firearm. Or whether such prohibitions can [apply] without individualized findings that a particular defendant presents a credible threat to the safety of others. And finally, it is an open question whether such prohibitions may be permanent,” his lawyer Drew Fielding posited.

NBA YoungBoy Reportedly Faces 10 Years In Prison For Federal Gun Charge

It’s no secret that NBA YoungBoy has dealt with his fair share of legal issues in recent months. Earlier this year, he was arrested at his Utah home for his role in an alleged prescription drug fraud scheme. At the time, he was already on house arrest, awaiting trial for a federal weapons charge. This charge stems from a 2020 music video shoot in his hometown of Baton Rouge, where police allegedly found him in possession of a 9 mm handgun and a .45-caliber Glock. He’s considered a felon, and barred from possessing guns, due to a 2016 shootout.

Now, according to WAFB, he intends to enter a guilty plea in his federal gun case and have it transferred from Baton Rouge to Utah. Reportedly, YB’s attorney Drew Findling filed the paperwork on his behalf earlier this week. He’s likely requesting the transfer for convenience, as he’s facing various charges in both Cache County and Weber County.

HoneyKomb Brazy Accepts Plea Deal In Federal Gun Case

In December of 2023, HoneyKomb Brazy and two associates were pulled over by police in Alabama, and soon after charged with possession of a firearm. Reportedly, upon searching the vehicle, officers found a Girson MC28 SA 9mm pistol and a Smith and Wesson MP 15 AR pistol. One of the rapper’s associates, bodyguard Miguel Hall, pleaded guilty to the federal gun charge in May of this year. At the time, Brazy appeared ready to go to trial to fight the case.

Now, according to new legal documents obtained by XXL, HoneyKomb Brazy has pleaded guilty as well. Reportedly, this is part of a plea deal that also saw both the defense and prosecutors recommend a sentence of between two-and-a-half and three-and-a-half years behind bars. He’s scheduled to appear in court on October 25, where Judge Kristi DuBose will hand him his sentence.

As for Hall, he’s scheduled to learn his fate in September. He could be facing up to 15 years in prison. According to court documents reportedly obtained by XXL on Friday (May 31), Lil Zay Osama and his legal team entered a guilty plea in his federal firearm case on Thursday. For those unaware, this case has been in limbo since September of 2022, after an Uber driver found a Glock with a switch in his car after the Chicago rapper took a ride. He pleaded guilty in Brooklyn Federal Court and still hasn’t received a sentencing date, but could face a ten-year maximum or likely a 21 or 27-month sentence given federal guidelines. “I knowingly possessed a firearm that was a machine gun in Queens County on Sept. 29, 2022,” Zay reportedly expressed in court according to the New York Daily News. I know that it was wrong and against the law.

Furthermore, this whole incident came about when an Uber driver picked Lil Zay Osama and his colleagues up in Manhattan. He saw him holding a gun and then dropped them off in Queens, and it was after their exit that the driver found a modified Glock 22 .40 caliber with an “auto sear” device that Zay left behind. After the driver notified the cops, they arrested him. But the case took an odd turn later in November, as authorities dismissed the case.

Then, in January, he received an indictment from a grand federal jury, which included charges of machine gun possession and possession of an unregistered firearm. “I guarantee n***as gone need me before I need them,” Zay seemed to respond to these charges on social media. “I’ll be home sooner than you think. In December of 2023, HoneyKomb Brazy and two of his bodyguards were pulled over in Mobile, AL, and arrested. Their vehicle was searched, and officers reportedly found two weapons in the vehicle, a Girson MC28 SA 9mm pistol and a Smith and Wesson MP 15 AR pistol. On top of that, police also claim to have found Promethazine and marijuana. As a result, the three of them were hit with federal gun charges. HoneyKomb Brazy was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. They were indicted at the end of January.

One of the bodyguards, Miguel Hall, appeared in court earlier this week where he entered a guilty plea to being a felon in possession of a firearm. It was previously reported that he had been banned from owning a firearm due to a past protection-from-abuse order. Based on court documents obtained by XXL, he’s expected to receive a sentence in September. Hall could be looking at up to 15 years behind bars. He could also face a hefty $250K fine and three years of supervised release once he gets out. Digga D Pleads Guilty To Smuggling Cannabis After Instagram Live Arrest

In February of this year, Digga D was livestreaming on Instagram from his home in Lincoln when authorities forcefully raided the property and arrested him. Clips from the stream quickly went viral. In them, he can be heard shouting at police as they made their way through his home, with dogs and drones only adding to the chaos. The UK-based drill artist has been behind bars in London ever since, accused of smuggling and supplying cannabis.

Now, he’s appeared virtually at Lincoln Crown Court from prison, where he pleaded guilty to both. Prosecutors refused to accept the basis of his pleas, and the judge adjourned the case until July 8. At that point, Digga D will learn whether or not he’ll stand trial.

The Chiefs fan known as the “Chiefsaholic” has pled guilty to several counts of bank robbery. Xavier Babudar had been charged with stealing $800,000 across 11 bank robberies across seven states. Furthermore, Badudar was accused of laundering the ill-gotten money through casinos. The 29-year-old faces a maximum of 50 years in prison, must pay over $500,000 in restitution, and surrender any property purchased with the stolen money.

The first chapter in this saga occurred in December 2022, when ChiefsAholic’s absence from a Chiefs road game in Houston was noted. After a little internet sleuthing, armchair detectives discovered that ChiefsAholic, real name Xaviar Badudar, had been arrested on the way to the game. Why? Well, turns out he was a suspect in a bank robbery in Oklahoma. Subsequently, he was released on a $20,000 bail. Furthermore, he was given an ankle monitor and scheduled for arraignment in March 2023. He promptly skipped town, was added to the state’s most wanted list, and eventually arrested.
