All Of The Grammy Wins That Made Beyoncé The Most Awarded Artist Of All Time

Many of us are still shocked at Beyoncé’s surprising Album Of The Year loss at the 2023 Grammys this past Sunday (February 5). Beyhivers are, however, excited at the fact that while she didn’t get the coveted AOTY honor for her seventh studio album Renaissance, she did make history that night. On Grammy night, Beyoncé took home the Grammy awards for Best Dance Recording with her hit single, “Break My Soul,” Best R&B Song with “Cuff It,” Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance with “Plastic Off The Sofa,” and Best Dance/Electronica Album with Renaissance.

These wins brought the total amount of Grammys she’s earned in her career up to 32, which has made her the most Grammy-awarded artist of all time.

Let’s break down the Grammys she has won over the course of the past two decades.

Bey won her first two Grammys in 2001 at 43rd Grammy Awards as a member of Destiny’s Child. She shares the win with her bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal with their hit single, “Say My Name.” The following year, the group won again for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal with “Survivor.”

Her first wins as a solo artist came in 2004, when she took home the awards for Best Contemporary R&B Album for her solo debut album, Dangerously In Love. On that album is the song “Dangerously In Love 2,” for which she won Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Her Luther Vandross duet “The Closer I Get To You” won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. And of course, her solo breakthrough, “Crazy In Love,” which features Jay-Z, won Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

In 2006, she, alongside her Destiny’s Child bandmates, took home the award for Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for their song “So Amazing” from their last album, Destiny Fulfilled.

The following year, her sophomore album, B’Day, won Best Contemporary R&B Album.

In 2010, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” won three Grammys, including Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, and Song Of The Year. “Halo” won the award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Both of these songs come from Beyoncé’s third solo album, I Am…Sasha Fierce, which won the Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album. Her cover of Etta James’ “At Last,” which she performed in the movie Cadillac Records, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.

In 2013, Love On Top from her fourth studio album 4 won Best Traditional R&B Performance. Later that year, she would release her game-changing self-titled fifth album by surprise.

With Beyoncé, she released a music video for each track, and several artists followed suit with the surprise release strategy. Given the album’s cultural impact, it seemed as though the Album Of The Year award was a given for the 57th Grammy Awards in 2015.

That year, she and Jay-Z took home the Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song award for their collaboration, “Drunk In Love.” Beyoncé also won the award for Best Surround Sound Album, however, her loss for Album Of The Year sent the world into a big shock.

Two years later, the world was equally shocked when her sixth album, Lemonade, lost the Album Of The Year award again. She did, however, take home the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album, as well as Best Music Video for Lemonade single “Formation.”

In 2019, she and Jay-Z won the Best Urban Contemporary Album for their joint album, Everything Is Love. The following year, her Netflix documentary, Homecoming, which goes behind the scenes of her 2018 Coachella performance, won the award for Best Music Film.

At the 2021 ceremony, her Megan Thee Stallion collaboration, “Savage,” won the Grammys for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. “Black Parade” and “Brown Skin Girl,” which are featured in her Disney+ short film Black Is King, won the Best R&B Performance and Best Music Video awards respectively.

So although Bey has not won the coveted Album Of The Year award, each of her solo albums have won Grammys in other categories. As the artist who hold the most Grammys, its safe to say the music speaks for itself.

The 2023 Grammy Awards Reached A Three-Year High For CBS

The Grammys on Sunday night were packed with memorable moments. There was definitely some chaos, from Harry Styles’ performance not going as planned to Cardi B allegedly breaking up a fight between Quavo and Offset. But there was also an abundance of exciting, groundbreaking moments, like Kim Petras being the first openly trans woman to receive a Grammy and Beyonce breaking the record for most Grammys of all time.

It looks like it was an overall success, especially when it comes to how many watchers tuned in. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Grammys reached a three-year high for CBS. It brought in 12.55 million viewers, which is 31% higher than last year’s 9.59 million people. However, it unfortunately doesn’t compare to the number of viewers they received before the pandemic.

One of the unexpected turns of the night was when Bonnie Raitt’s “Just Like That” won Song of The Year — a category full of big hits. “I’m so surprised,” she said in an interview shortly after winning, “because there were just massively talented, great tunes that represented tremendous excitement of the public, both in sales and just No. 1 and big smashing hits, and my little record was, you know… I’m so glad to be nominated. I was very surprised, but holding up our end of the American roots and my generation, that was… made me very proud. So… I don’t know, I love it.”

Cardi B Can Be Heard Allegedly Breaking Up A Fight Between Quavo And Offset At The Grammys In A Video That Has Surfaced Online

Rumors continue to circulate about a backstage fight between former Migos members Offset and Quavo at the Grammys this past weekend — despite Offset’s efforts to dispel them.

Now, alleged footage of Cardi B supposedly yelling at the two former bandmates to break it up has surfaced; fittingly, you can find that on TMZ.

Although neither Cardi, Quavo, or Offset appears in the video, you can hear Cardi’s distinctive voice yelling, “Both of y’all’s wrong! This is not right!” And while it’s not clear who she’s addressing she does tell someone “No bitch, shut the f*ck up ’cause you shouldn’t have been talking.”

The original report surfaced on TMZ shortly after the show on Sunday, detailing how the two men were separated after a physical altercation. The fight reportedly stemmed from Quavo’s refusal to allow Offset to join him onstage for his tribute to Takeoff.

As rumors circulated online, Offset tweeted, “What tf I look like fighting my brother yal n****s is crazy,” seemingly denying the rumor. However, if it’s untrue that the two Atlantans were involved in a fight, then it becomes even more unclear who Cardi is yelling at in the video.

Perhaps the answer will be revealed in time; hopefully, though, Offset and Quavo can reconcile after losing Takeoff, realizing that life is too short and whatever petty argument separated them isn’t worth losing their connection as well.

Lil Wayne Watches Skateboarding Videos During Grammys Party

Lil Wayne was spotted watching skateboarding videos in a viral video circulating on social media. The clip appears to be from a party for the 2023 Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy held the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday.

At the Grammys, Wayne participated in a performance of “God Did,” alongside Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Rick Ross, and Fridayy. The track comes from Khaled’s album of the same name. It was up for three Grammys on Sunday, including Song of the Year, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance.

The video of Wayne watching skateboarding video comes after the iconic rapper officially became a professional skateboarder. In celebration of the honor, Wayne’s videographer for Young Money Skate, Phil Lopez, gifted him a “pro model” board. “This was a Christmas gift, but I decided to turn it into a surprise because it would be more meaningful that way,” Lopez said in a video. “As Wayne’s videographer, I wanted to do something special for him that he’d remember. I approached Torey, owner of Thank You Skate Co., with the board design, and he was able to help execute the production process.”

Regardless of his love for skateboarding, Wayne doesn’t consider himself the “G.O.A.T.” of hip-hop skateboarders. Instead, he says that honor should belong to Rich The Kid. He explained why during an appearance on the Players Day Off podcast in 2022. Wayne also added that Y.G. should be in consideration as well. “No, I am trying to tell you man,” Wayne admitted, when asked if he is the undisputed G.O.A.T. “I’m trying to tell you, I’m bout to tell you bruh — they got people who don’t be wanting to show they skills for real until they get around me. Man, I’m gone expose you. First of all, Rich The Kid — man, the man skate with three watches on. Man that’s just that though.” Check out the clip of Lil Wayne watching skateboarding videos at a Grammys party below.

Snoop Dogg Points Out How He’s Been Overlooked By The Grammys His Whole Career

Amid all the talk of Beyoncé being overlooked for Album Of The Year at the Grammys multiple times — including in the most recent award show this past Sunday– another artist with a history of being snubbed is calling out the Recording Academy for not giving him his due.

Snoop Dogg, who has been nominated for 20 awards throughout his 30-year career and won none of them, posted a graphic on Instagram listing the awards of his rap contemporaries. “Rappers with the most Grammy Awards,” it reads, listing Jay-Z (24), Kanye West (24), Kendrick Lamar (17), Eminem (15), and Pharrell (13). That last one seems questionable, considering Pharrell doesn’t rap on most of his creative output.

Still, they all have more than Snoop, who captioned his post, “20 nominations. 0 wins,” with some sarcastic applause.

Over the years, Snoop has been nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance for “Gin and Juice” in 1995, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Beautiful” with Pharrell in 2004, Best Rap Song for “Drop It Like It’s Hot” in 2005, and even Best Reggae Album for his album Reincarnated in 2014, but as he pointed out, he hasn’t actually won for any of them.

Snoop is far from the only rapper to have been shut out at the Grammys. It’s a list that includes Busta Rhymes, DMX, Nicki Minaj, Pusha T, and Rick Ross, and until very recently, Nas, who won Best Rap Album in 2021 for King’s Disease, ending a 25-year drought.

Who Performed In The Hip-Hop Tribute At The Grammys?

The Grammys’ 50th-anniversary celebration of hip-hop was, by most accounts, a rousing success. It celebrated 50 years of hip-hop history — give or take a decade — while allowing many of the pioneers of the genre to have a moment in the spotlight that they might not have gotten prior.

The 15-minute performance included 23 songs spanning from hip-hop’s earliest recordings to some of its latest hits. And while some folks had their complaints, Questlove explained some of the more obvious omissions, which included Will Smith backing out in order to finish filming Bad Boys 4.

But not everybody who watched the dedication knew who every performer was (just ask my mom) — which, when you think about it, is a testament to how vital it is to finally give some of these folks the recognition they’ve deserved, but might have been denied. So, here’s a list of everybody who performed, along with a track that everyone should hear to get a sense of their artistry (aside from the ones they performed at the Grammys).

Black Thought — “You Got Me” with The Roots
Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five — “The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel”
Run-DMC — “Walk This Way”
LL Cool J — “Jingling Baby”
Salt-n-Pepa — “Let’s Talk About Sex”
Rakim — “Paid In Full”
Public Enemy — “Fight The Power”
De La Soul — “Eye Know”
Scarface — “Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta” with The Geto Boys
Ice-T — “6 ‘N the Mornin’”
Queen Latifah — “Just Another Day…”
Method Man — “All I Need” Feat. Mary J. Blige
Big Boi — “Rosa Parks” with OutKast
Busta Rhymes — “Dangerous”
Missy Elliott — “Work It”
Nelly — “Country Grammar”
Too $hort — “Gettin’ It”
Swizz Beatz & The Lox — “Money, Power & Respect”
Lil Baby — “The Bigger Picture”
Lil Uzi Vert — “XO Tour Llif3″

Someone In LA Hired A Skywriter To Celebrate Beyoncé’s Historic Night At The Grammys

Despite everything, Beyoncé’s Grammys night was still historical, as she became the most-awarded artist in history with her win for Best Dance/Electronic album for Renaissance. She’s been receiving praise from all directions ever since — including from former First Lady Michelle Obama — including up in the air.

Fans in Los Angeles — home of the Grammys, which were held at LA’s Crypto.com Arena on Sunday night — were greeted with a delightful sight today as a skywriter flew across the gorgeous blue sky, leaving behind a congratulatory message addressed to the queen. “Beyonce, you made history!” it read. Oddly enough, no information has surfaced regarding the message’s origin or sponsor.

Although fans were disappointed when Bey missed out on the Album Of The Year award (she’s been shut out four times to date, although all of her albums have won at least one Grammy), her husband Jay-Z wasn’t sweating it. “I remove myself from the process and hope they just get it right,” he said. “It got to the point where I was like, it’s just a marketing thing. You go, you got an album out and it could help the sales go up.”

Meanwhile, others who attended the ceremony were grateful just to have been in her presence. Breakout Memphis star GloRilla joked on Facebook that after hugging Beyoncé, she’s “never taking a bath again” and getting her “15-minute conversation with Beyoncé tatted.” Way to keep things in perspective, Glo!

Ice-T Reacts To Man Checking Out His Wife Coco At The Grammys

Ice-T and Coco Austin showed out over Grammy weekend. Of course, the Gangsta Rap pioneer played a huge role in Questlove’s Hip Hop 50 performance that brought together intergenerational talent. However, he also watched the show from the sideline as performers like Jay-Z, Quavo, Bad Bunny, and more graced the stage.

While seated in the audience, Ice-T’s wife Coco appeared to catch the attention of a fellow attendee. The Law & Order actor took to Twitter where he shared a video of a man blatantly staring at Coco. Though the individual seeming acknowledged Ice-T beforehand, he clearly was fixated on Coco’s assets. However, the 64-year-old MC didn’t appear to be distressed over the man’s glare. In fact, he gets exactly why the man did it.

“Lol… I love how the white dude looked at me then took time to check Coco out,” Ice-T wrote. “I TOTALLY understand..” However, he didn’t end up identifying the individual who was staring. Given that Ice-T and Coco stood next to Grammy nominee, Future, it seems as though the man could’ve been some sort of person working within the music industry.

Ice-T’s reaction doesn’t necessarily seem all that shocking, especially since he understands Coco’s sex appeal. Over the years, he hasn’t shied away from expressing his fondness for Coco’s butt. Last August, Ne-Yo alleged that Ice-T gave him the green light to squeeze Coco’s behind. Apparently, Coco was wearing a racy costume at a Halloween party and Ne-Yo was feeling bold after a few shots.

“So, I walked up to him and was like, ‘Bro, with all due respect, uh, I’ve been wanting to squeeze Coco’s ass for a really long time,” Ne-Yo recalled telling “I’m Your Pusher” rapper once upon a time. Though you’d expect most men to get defensive of other men staring at their wife, the singer said Ice-T’s reaction was the complete opposite. “You knoIce-T and w what? I’m just the kind of pimp that’ll let you do it,” Ne-Yo recalled Ice-T telling him.

Ice-T and Coco celebrated their 21st anniversary in 2022. It’s quite clear that they’re still going strong. Check out Ice-T’s post below and sound off in the comments with your thoughts.
