Even though Ice Cube is one of the most iconic, influential, and important rappers to come out of Los Angeles, he’s not a fan of being called one of the greatest of all time. Moreover, the N.W.A. legend took to Twitter to voice his frustration with the title, although he thanked fans for the respect. “For those who think it flatters me, please don’t call me a f***ing goat. Carry-on,” he tweeted recently. “Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate the respect but don’t call me that.” Still, the California native didn’t clarify exactly why he doesn’t like the popular acronym.

Moreover, this leads to many theories as to why Ice Cube doesn’t want to be called the GOAT. The thought that maybe he doesn’t understand that it’s acronym to being with, and not actually a comparison to the animal, is unlikely. After all, he said he appreciated the respect, so maybe the 54-year-old thinks that other MCs are more deserving of the title. However, maybe some would think that’s not as competitive as he can be, so perhaps he has an issue with the imagery or viral proliferation of the title? Either way, it’s ultimately his thoughts, and one that’s innocuous and harmless enough for fans to respect.

Ice Cube Doesn’t Want A “GOAT” Label

Regardless, whether it’s old heads or the next generations to come, we doubt there will ever be a time in which O’Shea Jackson is not in that conversation. In fact, with a new album to look forward to, maybe Ice Cube will get even more of the flowers he deserves. Through at least two decades of dominance and definitive records, he established himself as a premier lyricist and a defining figure in West Coast hip-hop. Other than that, the actor and businessman found success in other areas that still failed to dilute or diminish the significance of his pen.

Meanwhile, this will always be a contentious debate, whether you’re talking about fellow Cali titans like Tupac, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, and many more, or comparing him to East Coast or Southern contemporaries and superstars. He definitely deserves the praise, but maybe there’s another name we can find for him. Until then, we’ll have to hold our tongue and simply call him one of the best artists to grace the genre- if he’s okay with that, of course. Ice Cube has responded after Tony Yayo argued that The Notorious B.I.G. is a better storyteller than him during an appearance on Drink Champs. Speaking with DJ Whoo Kid on Tuesday, the N.W.A. rapper admitted that everyone has their own opinion and Biggie is also great.

“It’s subjective,” Cube said. “Everybody got they favorites. I put my stories up against anybody and I have a bigger sample size. But at the end of the day, everybody is going to have their different opinion. I love Biggie, I’m a fan of Biggie.”

Cube further said: “I’ve wrote records for Eazy and N.W.A. And look, when we talking about storytelling, are we talking about rhyming? Because I write movies too, so I’m a hell of a storyteller. I can tell a damn story. So are we just talking about rap? That’s only a portion of what I do. Look, to be in that conversation, I’m winning already.”

As for Yayo’s original comments, the G-Unit rapper was responding to DJ EFN picking Cube in the conversation. The Drink Champs host cited Cube’s 1991 diss record, “No Vaseline” from Death Certificate as being better than Biggie’s 1997 track, “N****s Bleed,” off of Life After Death. Yayo vehemently disagreed with the opinion. “This is why I hate this industry shit,” Yayo said. “So you telling me Ice Cube is a better storyteller than Biggie? You fucking buggin! You lost your fucking mind! Ice Cube is better than Biggie as a storyteller? You fucking buggin n***a! You lost your fucking mind!”

Brandon Miller Picks A Very Surprising Player As His GOAT

Alabama freshman Brandon Miller is expected to hear his name called second or third overall during the 2023 NBA Draft on June 22. The SEC Freshman of the Year and Second-Team All-American will likely go to the Hornets, Blazers, or the team that trades up into one of those spots. However, his landing spot will ultimately be decided by whether teams prefer him or G-League standout Scoot Henderson. Furthermore, both picks are still reportedly up for grabs a little over 24 hours before the draft.

Miller, aside from his involvement in the shooting death of a woman in Tuscaloosa, had a fantastic one-and-done college year. As mentioned, he was showered with awards come season’s end. Additionally, he helped the Alabama Crimson Tide secure their first-ever one-seed in the NCAA tournament. However, the team was upset in the Sweet Sixteen by eventual runners-up San Diego State. He averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during his time with the Crimson Tide.

Miller Names Paul George His GOAT

However, Miller is now making headlines for something a little more bizarre. During his pre-draft press availability on June 21, Miller was asked whether Jordan or LeBron was the GOAT. Furthermore, he was asked if he felt the GOAT debate was “overdone.” Miller’s answer was unique, to say the least. “No, because I actually don’t think LeBron is the GOAT of basketball,” Miller said. “My GOAT of basketball is Paul George. I grew up watching him, so, it was never just LeBron.”

It may be the first time that George, an eight-time all-star, has ever been named the GOAT of basketball. Despite this, it’s clear that Miller took this question more personally, rather than an objective ranking of basketball’s best-ever players. Previously, Miller has said that he admires George because he “takes pride in the defensive side. I steal some of his moves and put my own twist to it.” What do you think about Miller’s take? Westside Gunn Says 2Pac & Biggie Called Him The Goat In One Of His Dreams

Westside Gunn says that he recently had a dream in which 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. both labeled him the greatest rapper of all time. He added that he also threw an unnamed artist off of the roof of a building. Gunn spoke about the strange dream on Twitter, Saturday.

“B.I.G. And PAC just came to me in my dreams and said ‘SUPER FLYGOD your the [goat emoji] NOW!!!!! and then I dropped one of y’all new fav rappers off the roof,” he wrote in the post. Many fans asked the Griselda rapper to reveal which rapper he threw off the building. One also joked, “They came to me and said they was capping.”

Jamal Murray Picks His Top Five NBA Players Of All Time

Jamal Murray has absolutely popped off in recent games. He exceeded 30 points in three of the four games against the Lakers, including back-to-back 37-point games. The tighter the Lakers guarded Nikola Jokić, the better Murray played. His continued success will be absolutely crucial as the Nuggets turn their attention to the NBA Finals. They will face either the Heat or Celtics, with the Heat currently up 3-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

However, a months-old interview with Murray is going viral in the wake of his recent success on the court. In a laidback interview while playing NBA 2K, Murray shared his thoughts on who the greatest players to ever the grace the NBA were. While many of his answers could be construed as mainstream or “bandwagon”, they clearly show that Murray had a good eye for the game.

Jamal Murray’s Top Five

Murray’s thoughts came during an interview with YouTuber James Rush. However, the interview did not make waves at the time and still only have 3400 views at the time of writing. Furthermore, it’s a very fun and laid-back interview. But Murray made it clear where he stands in terms of the GOATs of the NBA.

Unsurprisingly, topping the list is Michael Jordan. Jordan was already a four-time champion by the time Murray was born in February 1997. Furthermore, Murray hadn’t left high school before the two other retired players on his list, Kobe and Shaq, had left the NBA. However, the final two players on his list are two that Murray has actively played against. The first is LeBron James, whom Murray helped eliminate from the playoffs earlier this week. The other is Steph Curry, the career Warrior against whom Murry has played 14 games. Left off Murray’s list is a wealth of stars like Kareem, Bird, etc. but it’s also a pretty hard list to argue against, if a little mainstream. What do you think of Murray’s thoughts? The D.O.C. Explains Picking Biggie As His No.1 Artist

The D.O.C. says that The Notorious B.I.G.’s humility is what sets him apart from other great artists. He recalled meeting the late rapper during a recent appearance on Ambrosia For Head‘s What’s The Headline podcast.

“I got mad at Biggie Smalls ’cause I could hear where I was gonna go,” The D.O.C. began. “When he first came [out], I could hear where I wanted to go, and couldn’t do it. So it made me be angry with him—before I met him.”

He continued: “But when I met him, he was such a genuine dude. He asked me to take a picture with him, and he was so fuckin’ humble. And I was like, how can you hate a dude like that? Ever since then, he’s been my No. 1, really. We were in Chicago at something. It was Saafir, and Craig Mack, and Smalls, and myself. And he was just a cool dude, man.”

The comments come as Warner Music Group is releasing a visual podcast series, Iconic Records. The first season focuses on The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 album, Life After Death.

The D.O.C. On Biggie’s Greatness

The D.O.C. has an iconic career of his own. Nelly recently picked him over The Notorious B.I.G. as the greatest “What If?” in hip-hop history. He explained why during a video on Instagram. “Listen, I know a lot of people got they own opinions about Hip hop but the biggest what if in Hip Hop has to be The D.O.C.,” he said at the time. “It has to be. The D.O.C. has to be the biggest what if in Hip Hop history. Like if you know anything about Hip Hop and you research it [… ] I love all my young n***as, I don’t knock y’all. I support all my young brothers but the biggest what if has to be D.O.C. One album — that’s all you got. One album. I would say Biggie but Biggie at least got off two albums and we all recognize him as being one of the greatest but the biggest what if is The D.O.C. n***a. Do your research.”

Russell Westbrook Picks Nipsey Hussle As The GOAT Over JAY-Z, Eminem, & More

Russell Westbrook picked Nipsey Hussle as the greatest rapper of all time from a list of options that include JAY-Z, Eminem, and more. For the decision, he narrowed down the pick from a 16-rapper bracket. The artists also included Ludacris, Ice Cube, Redman, Busta Rhymes, Ghostface Killa, Mos Def, Missy Elliott, Lupe Fiasco, Nas, Dr. Dre, The Notorious B.I.G., Lil Wayne, and 50 Cent.

In the video, Westbrook narrows the final four options to JAY-Z, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, and Nipsey Hussle. Fans had mixed responses to Westbrook’s choices. One agreed: “If you listen to the message, reality, and delivery overall. Nipsey was better. Nipsey mastered things without straying and made timeless music while doing it. I also think his international experiences, from this Ethiopian half, made him more aware.” Another emphasized with the difficult decision: “I felt his pain when it got to Nip and Wayne I was just listening to them today.”

It’s not the first time that the Los Angeles native has praised Nipsey Hussle. After Hussle was shot and killed in 2019, Westbrook posted the NBA’s second-ever 20-20-20 stat line and dedicated the performance to the late rapper. “Grateful to play the game, but that wasn’t for me, man. That was for my bro, man. That was for Nipsey,” Westbrook told TNT post-game. “Rest in peace to Nipsey, man. I’m just thankful to go out there and compete at a high level, man. Thankful to have these teammates. Thankful and humbled to go out there and play the game I love.”

Nipsey Hussle was shot and killed by Eric Holder outside of his Marathon Clothing store on March 31, 2019. Hussle was just 33 years old at the time. Holder received a sentence of 60 years in prison for the first-degree murder.

Quavo is known to many as a hitmaker, and hook master, and is even regarded by some as the GOAT. However, the Quality Control artist definitely has the catalog to back it up. Whether it’s legendary collaborations with the likes of Frank Ocean (sorry Coachella goers), Drake, and Travis Scott or hit records with his group The Migos (R.I.P. Takeoff). It’s clear Quavo is a made man. Lately, Quavo has been laying low, putting out singles here and there, since the tragic passing of his Nephew and 1/3 of the Migos Takeoff in November 2022.

Not only that, the Only Built For Infinity Links rapper has been busy working on his acting chops in the new Peacock film Praise This. While we all love Quavo for his song-making abilities. Especially with the release of both singles “Greatness” and “Honeybun.” It’s nice to see Quavo do things outside of music as well. Not to mention he’s acted before. His cameo in Donald Glover’s Atlanta is absolutely priceless.

Quavo Lists His GOATs

On an episode of GOAT Talk with Complex, Quavo along with his co-star, Chloe Bailey, shared a few of their GOATs. When asked about who the greatest rapper of all time was, Quavo only had one answer, Jay-Z. He said, ” I gotta go, Jay-Z. Great businessman, OG.” Quavo continued, “[He] gives us lessons and shows us the way.” Quavo is among many rappers that hold Jigga in high regard when it comes to rapping and his business acumen. While his co-star had multiple answers for her GOAT rappers, one being Quavo himself, the Migos rapper had no hesitation picking his GOAT.

When they got on the topic of the greatest actor of all time, Quavo gave his answers with the same amount of speed. “Ooooh got to be Will Smith,” he responded. Even Chloe Bailey agreed his pick was good. “Because Ali is my favorite movie,” the Atlanta native explained. The GOAT debate is one that will stand the test of time. Young Buck Co-Signs Nashville G.O.A.T. Claims

Young Buck has reacted to being called the G.O.A.T of Nashville rap. The 42-year-old has certainly enjoyed an incredible career. Indeed, he is the man who first put his city on the hip-hop map during his run with G-Unit. One of hip-hop’s biggest stars being from Nashville was a big deal at the time. Typically, the city is more associated with country music than as a hotbed of hip-hop. However, Buck has competition for the crown of Nashville’s greatest ever rapper. Jelly Roll has also staked his claim as the best rapper to come out the Tennessee capital.

Subsequently, a clip was recently shared by Ricky Robinson’s If You Alive Subscribe Show. In the clip, Robinson says that he respects Jelly Roll. However, he didn’t mince words in saying he believes Buck is the better rapper. “I know you think Jelly Roll can rap better than Buck, but he can’t,” Robinson flatly stated. “I love you, Jelly Roll, I respect you,” Robinson continued. “But Buck is the G.O.A.T. in Nashville! And I’ma stand on that. Tag Jelly Roll and tell him I said that.” Robinson would further elaborate on his position in the video’s caption. “I said what I said post no disrespect towards @jellyroll615 but it’s a no for me,” he said.

Young Buck Creates A Legacy For His City

Additionally, Robinson argues that Buck is also better than fellow Nashville standout Starlito. “And by the way to my grind hard homies @starlitogrindhard can’t f**k with a picture of @buckshotz on No versus. let’s clear that up now,” he said. For his part, Buck took to the comments to seemingly agree with Robinson’s passionate assessment. Buck simply posted “#TalkYoTalk” Buck first achieved mainstream fame when he joined G-Unit in 2004.

Originally, the group had been founded by high school friends 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo. Unfortunately, Yayo was incarcerated around the time the group began working on their second album. Subsequently, Buck was hand selected by 50 Cent to join the group after Yayo’s imprisonment. Buck would go on to achieve superstardom with the group. Additionally, it’s obvious that Buck’s city still loves him for the contributions he’s made.
