Shakira Shades Gerard Piqué During Her Speech at Billboard’s Latin Women In Music Event

Since the entry of the late 1990s, Shakira’s career success has become one of the most recognized United States crossovers. The Columbina-born singer continues to receive recognition during her career of longevity. Over the weekend, Billboard hosted its inaugural Latin Women In Music event. Shakira was honored with their first-ever “Woman Of The Year” award. Additionally, she took time to reflect on her career while including a hint of shade at her breakup with ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué.

The speech she did was translated into English by Billboard Latin. Shakira’s career activism includes forms of women empowerment including body positivity. In the past, she has opened up about receiving therapy to express more love for her body. During her acceptance speech, she took the approach of women’s empowerment by shading her ex longtime lover. “But there comes a time in the life of every woman where she no longer depends on someone else to love and accept herself just as she is,” she said. “A time when the search for someone else is replaced by the search for oneself,” she added with a focus on self-love in her journey of singleness.

It’s been a rough year for Shakira. Not only does she face tax evasion charges in Spain but she also went through a pretty nasty break-up. Last year, she and Gerard Piqué called it quits after 11 years together. The singer began dating the football player in 2011 following his appearance in the “Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)” music video, and later, they welcomed a child together. While they were listed among the world’s most powerful couple, things eventually went left.

The couple later shared a statement after news emerged of their split. “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for (our) privacy. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement read. Though the details surrounding their split remained unclear, she confirmed there was infidelity in the relationship. In fact, Shakira revealed that she knew he was cheating due to a used jam jar. Shakira Disses Ex’s New Girlfriend 

During a recent interview, Shakira didn’t hold back on her thoughts surrounding women who aren’t supportive of other women. Many felt as though she was taking aim at Piqué’s new girlfriend. She explained that she doesn’t need to depend on a man after feeling as though “a woman needed a man to be complete.” “There is a place in hell reserved for women who don’t support other women,” Shakira said during her interview with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas.

The breakup was clearly an eye-opening experience for Shakira. She felt as though she depended on her partners in the past on an emotional level, though she said that she discovered a new side of herself. “I’ve always been emotionally quite dependent on men I’ve fallen in love with love and I think I’ve been able to understand that story from another perspective, and today I am sufficient on my own,” she said. Shakira said that her main focus is to take care of and protect her two sons, 10-year-old Milan and 8-year-old Sasha, who she shared with her ex.

Restauranteur Throws Out Shakira’s Ex-Partner & His New Girlfriend

Any enemy of Shakira’s is an enemy of one particular restaurant manager, too, apparently. The opp in question is none other than the Colombian superstar’s ex, former soccer player Gerard Piqué. Recently, the alleged serial cheater had an outing with his new girlfriend Clara Chia, which ultimately went horribly left for the pair. It’s not clear if the two were in Barcelona, Spain, or Los Angeles, Ca at the time due to conflicting reports.

In a now-viral TikTok clip, Piqué is shown beside Chia with their heads down as they exit the dine-in. According to the uploader, “clara chia and pique went out to eat at a restaurant in los angeles and well the owner is a fan of shakira and the owner ran clara chia out personally.” No parties involved have commented on the incident as of writing, though we can bet Shakira is certainly pleased. This follows her shady video towards Piqué and his new beau, posted on Valentine’s Day. The Instagram clip shows the international artist mopping a kitchen rug as she sings along to SZA’s “Kill Bill.”

Shakira’s Ex And New Girl Seen Leaving The Venue

Shakira and her longtime partner’s relationship woes were made public in 2022. According to several reports, the singer realized Piqué was cheating after finding a jar of half-eaten jam. It’s been noted that he, along with their two kids, are not fans of the condiment, leading to suspicions from the Latin star upon her return home. This, along with reports of his cheating ways, led to Shakira calling it quits.

Prior to this, the single superstar recently uploaded a diss track in spite of the pair. In the song, Shakira claims Gerard Piqué gave her the “worst” version of himself during their 12-year relationship. “Sorry baby, it’s been a while since I should have booted that cat,” she explicitly croons In Spanish. In addition, she sings “You left me with your mom as a neighbor, the press at my door, and a debt with the Treasury.” This is a clear nod to her alleged tax fraud case from 2022 out of Spain. Shakira is set to stand trial for not paying taxes from 2012 to 2014., a claim she states is false. She currently faces up to eight years in federal prison for missed payments in the amount of $13.9 million. For this reason, Shakira’s since left Barcelona to be with family in Miami.
