Travis Scott has always been a student of hip-hop ever since he became a Kanye Westprotege back in the early 2010s. Over the years, we have seen him take the respective sounds of artists like Ye, Kid Cudi, Future, and more and create a one-of-a-kind psychedelic sound. But even before he began his rap journey, he was looking to get ahead even when he was an actual student. According to XXL, one of many Travis Scott fan accounts recently uncovered a college essay from his short stint at university. This four-page paper from December 5, 2009, seems to have been for an English professor of some sort.
If you did not know, Trav attended The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He would drop out during his sophomore year, before ultimately becoming the controversial superstar we know him to be. In the essay, Scott flexes his rap knowledge by summarizing the careers of Kid Cudi and Big Sean. He refers to them as “well-known rappers that had similar lifestyles but different messages.” Subsequently, these parallels “carried them an opportunity to get sign to a multi-million-dollar company called G.O.O.D. MUSIC.”

Near the end of the paper, Scott wanted to this story to convey that, “Success is not something that is giving out. You must go out and take what you want.” Even though the multi-hyphenate must have felt good about his efforts here, fans have been quick to tear it up. “Dude wrote the intro, then just copy paste Wikipedia!” one user writes. “Goddamn my brain is hurting reading this s***” another adds. While some of the grammar is not totally refined, it seems that he knew this information on the back of his hand.
What are your thoughts on this college essay about G.O.O.D. Music by Travis Scott? Do you think this is a poorly written, or well written paper? An alleged leaked text message shows Pusha T telling off Kanye West for a lack of support. The key message is, “I’ve held you down and u don’t appreciate me…”
According to HipHopDX, a Reddit user marks the text exchange for January 2022 and has some scatching messages from King Push.
“U let Drake disrespect you, your wife, and your family,” Pusha wrote. “That’s why u can’t get your wife to respect u.”
In another spot, King Push wrote, “Don’t blame me, Kanye. I would never shoot anybody for you, you would snitch on me.” He closed with, “I’ve held you down and u don’t appreciate me.”
At the end of 2022, Pusha T‘s time as the President and a member of G.O.O.D. Music ended. Speaking with XXL, King Push revealed that he decided to distance himself from Ye following his anti-semitic rants and remarks.
“If you ain’t with it, you ain’t down. And I ain’t with it. I’m not budging on that. I’m not with it. I heard about this new stuff [on InfoWars]. I don’t know. It’s something that just sort of tells me he’s not well, at the same time. I will say that. It’s going to places where it’s no way to move around it.”
Pusha T stated he hasn’t spoken to Ye recently, citing that their last conversation was when he was on tour.
“I just expressed myself. I express myself to him a lot. He expressed his thoughts to me. And he got off the phone saying, ‘Thank you. I know you don’t agree with me, but you never kill me in the public. And some people can’t wait to do that.’”
Pusha T confirmed that he is still with Def Jam, engaged in a 50/50 venture with the label for his releases and his Heir Wave Music Group label.

Teyana Taylor is supposedly retired but she is still active in the music world. The New York singer has performed at major festivals this year even after concluding her Last Rose Petal Tour in 2022. She has not released an album since 2020 and has since focused her attention on other endeavors. Taylor appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including Coming 2 America, White Men Can’t Jump, and Kid Cudi’s Entergalactic. She also notably won The Masked Singer last year.
Teyana Taylor’s name has also been in news headlines recently following confirmation of separating from her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert. In an Instagram post, she stated that she and the former NBA player are still on good terms despite being separated for a while. She even referred to Shumpert as her bestie. Teyana Taylor may have retired from music for now, but fans are still longing for new music from the multifaceted singer and dancer. Today, we are highlighting her music career with a ranking of her albums and mixtapes from least to greatest. Take a look at the list below.
Teyana Taylor started her career under Pharrell’s tutelage in 2007 when he signed her to Star Trak Entertainment. Her 2009 debut mixtape, From A Planet Called Harlem is her first full-length project and her only release on the label. The mixtape notably included Taylor’s debut single, “Google Me.” Jazze Pha, Pharrell, Hit-Boy, and more contributed beats while Chris Brown, Eve, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, and others featured on the mixtape. From A Planet Called Harlem certainly showcased Teyana Taylor’s talents, but she had not yet completely established her musical identity. For that reason, it sits at the bottom of her discography. It was not until her later work that she would find her sound as a singer and reinvent herself as an artist.
A fitting title for her second mixtape, The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor was the follow-up to From A Planet Called Harlem which marked a new phase in her career. Freshly released from her deal with Star Trak, Teyana Taylor’s first independent project was a promising effort. However, she still sounded as if she was developing her comfort zone as a singer, which we’d later see fully established in her studio albums. She made an admirable project that helped better reveal her growth. However, she grew both vocally and artistically on her albums, which her G.O.O.D. Music signing helped uncover.
Just a year removed from her debut album, Teyana Taylor released The Cassette Tape 1994. The 5-track EP was inspired by ’90s R&B, sampling numerous throwbacks like K.P. & Envyi’s “Swing My Way” and Tony! Toni! Toné!’s “Anniversary.” Teyana Taylor put her own spin on these songs, repurposing old-school classics to make her very own cassette tape. While it is a brief and enjoyable listen, The Cassette Tape 1994 does not stack up to her polished and carefully crafted studio albums. Still, the project sits above Teyana’s mixtapes as her vocal range drastically grew and she skillfully reimagined older songs with her own flair.
Teyana Taylor’s most recent and supposedly final album fully delivered on its promises. Her highly anticipated third album satisfied her fanbase with its lengthy tracklist. While bloated, the 23-track album contains some of Teyana Taylor’s best material. It is both well-produced and varied in its musical stylings. There are ballads, bangers, afro-fusion and reggae-inspired songs, and of course, sensual R&B tracks. Her most personal release to date, The Album contains moments of reflection, celebration, and gratitude. It does not leave much to be desired because fans were given everything they wanted across the tracklist. In that regard, The Album’s length is justified but the extensive runtime and filler songs diminish its replay value. If it really is Teyana Taylor’s final album, she ended her music career on a solid note.
The last album to be released in a series of short albums produced by Kanye West, K.T.S.E. stood out among a slew of hip-hop projects. The only release from the series to feature eight songs, as opposed to seven, Teyana Taylor’s second studio album contains a surprising amount of variety in such a short amount of time. K.T.S.E.’s brightest moments utilize chopped soul samples to make modern classics like “Gonna Love Me” and “Issues/Hold On.”
There is also “Rose in Harlem,” an album highlight that combines vintage with contemporary to forge one of Teyana Taylor’s best songs. The album’s closing track, “WTP” pays homage to the Harlem ballroom scene with Taylor’s signature style of sexual liberty. K.T.S.E. may not have been the final product she envisioned, but the Kanye West production was perfect for her voice. It made for a memorable second album even though she had already set the bar extremely high.
Teyana Taylor unlocked her full potential on her debut album, VII. She had found her voice and signature sound in the album’s lush instrumentation. The music suits her voice and sexually descriptive lyrics. VII is Teyana Taylor’s most complete body of work from top to bottom, resulting in a tracklist without skips. Nothing on the album sounds forced and the songs transition seamlessly from one to the other. Songs like “Just Different,” “Request,” and “Broken Hearted Girl” are some of the sexiest tracks in her discography that display her unique vocal tone.
Many of VII’s highlights are its slow contemporary R&B jams, but its production is also varied in style. The reggae-fused “Put Your Love On” keeps the album unpredictable and the upbeat “Maybe” with Pusha T and Yo Gotti perfectly balances gentle emotions with playful flirting. Ultimately, TeyanaTaylor perfected her sound with her debut album. VII is an unforgettable listening experience that proved extremely difficult to top.
Consequence has taken to social media to clarify his recent comments on Q-Tip doing the “shadiest shit ever.” He had been referring to the legendary A Tribe Called Quest rapper signing with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music back in the day during an interview with VladTV. Cons says that his comments made it appear as if he still holds a grudge against Q-Tip, but that isn’t the case. He also previewed an upcoming collaboration between the two of them titled, “Good Luck With That.”
“Vlad did a great job, but as a prerequisite, when I did the interview, he asked me could we go through my whole career,” Cons began in a video he posted last Friday. “And so, we just kind of chronologically went through each chamber so in particular with Q-Tip, I wanna just clarify a couple things. When I said, ‘the shadiest thing he ever…’ whatever, that was just due to the fact that I was just thinking about that time period.”
Consequence On Stage With Q-Tip
He continued: “Right now me and Q-Tip – we good, everything cool. I spoke to him not too long ago. This week is his birthday, my birthday is this Monday coming up. We usually celebrate our birthdays together but he been busy, I been busy but definitely I wanna say happy birthday to Q-Tip.”
From there, Cons took the time to “fill in a couple blanks.” He explained: “Number one, you know I did ‘The Chase Pt. 2’ – Q-Tip made sure I got paid. He also gave me access to Violator Management. I was dealing with Keisha Harris. Keisha Harris plugged me with Dino Delvaille who did the Cash Money deal eventually. He was A&Ring for Jeru The Damaja and he started managing me. After we linked up, being that he was dealing with Gang Starr and Preemo’s from Texas – there was a guy from Texas who was like the white version of Preemo. His name was Overtime. Me and Overtime connected, we started working on joints. We hit a little wall tryna shop them because everybody was like, ‘Yo you Q-Tip cousin and he should be the one tryna get you a deal.”
“So I had to have a heart to heart with Tip,” he added. “Tip got on board, we did this joint called ‘Living It Up’ and it was a joint. Unfortunately that’s one of the records that we lost in the fire at his crib. So, it was a few things that led to him shopping me to Puff but nonetheless, he did it and that’s when I wound up joining Tribe.”
He concluded by hinting at putting out a new album in the near future. “Me and Q-Tip celebrate our birthdays a week apart – he’s April 10, I’m April 17. I’m in a great space right now, I have no venom or vitriol for anybody,” he said. “I’m looking forward to putting out this new album and actually, me and Q-Tip got a joint. Let’s run that real quick.” Check out Consequence’s full video below.
Conversations about record deals are always controversial conversations within Hip Hop, and John Legend is giving some insight into his relationship with G.O.O.D. Music. The Chicago crooner’s career developed thanks to his connection to Kanye West’s label, as the two Windy City artists collaborated extensively. They partnered on several albums and delivered classic hits, but a fallout over Ye’s antics caused a divide. Legend took issue with West advocating for Donald Trump, and later, the Rap icon’s inclusion in the 2020 Presidential Election also gave Legend pause.
However, the R&B hitmaker doesn’t regret a moment with G.O.O.D. Music. West’s label has endured a bit of unraveling in recent years due to his ongoing controversies. Legend recently chatted with The Breakfast Club and spoke about his decision to sign with West’s label amid pushback from his team. “All of these decisions, though, there were people in my camp that didn’t want me to sign with Kanye when I signed with him,” Legend revealed. “‘Cause I signed with G.O.O.D. Music, and I signed through G.O.O.D. Music to Columbia Records. So, all of my first few albums were through G.O.O.D. Music to Columbia Records.”
John Legend Recalls Uncertainty With G.O.O.D. Music
“And you give up certain things when you sign to an artist’s production company, he continued. “But, I felt like it was the right move for me because creatively, we were in a great place together and his star was ascending as a producer and as an artist. I felt like being a part of that team was gonna propel my career to a place that it needed to be. And it did! And, it was really important for me to be with G.O.O.D. Music for my first few albums. My career wouldn’t be where it is without that. And then, when it’s time to move on, it’s time to move on. But we had a really successful run together.”
Legend noted that “hindsight is 20/20” because it all worked out well for everyone involved. However, at the time, Legend was unsure about his future. He did his best to “plan ahead” but admitted that after inking the G.O.O.D. Music deal, he was like any other budding artist, hoping for the best. Their career paths have taken them to extraordinary heights, but these days, the personal relationship between West and Legend is strained.
Changes In Kanye West
In a November 2022 interview with the On With Kara Swisher, LEgend spoke about changes he’d seen in his former friend. “I do find him different than he was back then.” He added, “I didn’t see hints of this kind of harmful behavior back then. We have not been friends for a while now, and so, I’m not personally doing anything. But I do know people who are, and a lot of people are concerned about him.”
Consequence has all the time to come to Kanye West’s defense. After speaking on Pusha T, Cons has turned his attention to J. Cole, recalling the 2016 track “False Prophets.”
In case you need a refresher on the content of “False Prophets,” Cole barred up Ye in a rather honest depiction of what the Chicago rapper has become.
Yeah, life is a balance You lose your grip, you can slip into an abyss No doubt, you see these niggas trippin’ Ego in charge of every move, he’s a star And we can’t look away due to the days that he caught our hearts He’s fallin’ apart, but we deny it Justifying that half ass shit he dropped, we always buy it When he tell us he a genius but it’s clearer lately It’s been hard for him to look into the mirror lately There was a time when this nigga was my hero, maybe That’s the reason why his fall from grace is hard to take ‘Cause I believed him when he said his shit was purer and he The type of nigga swear he real but all around him’s fake The women, the dickriders, you know, the yes men Nobody with the balls to say somethin’ to contest him So he grows out of control Into the person that he truly was all along, it’s startin’ to show Damn, wonder what happened Maybe it’s my fault for idolizin’ niggas Based off the words they be rappin’ But come to find out, these niggas don’t even write they shit Hear some new style bubblin’ up, then they bite this shit Damn, that’s what I get for lyin’ to myself Well, fuck it, what’s more important is he’s cryin’ out for help While the world’s eggin’ him on, I’m beggin’ him to stop it Playin’ his old shit, knowin’ he won’t top it False prophets
– J. Cole on “False Prophets”
Speaking on The Art of Dialogue, Consequence examined the moment.
“When he [J. Cole] was trying to get on, it wasn’t no ‘False Prophets’ then,” Consequence said. “It was how do I get to the profit margin?”
He added, “I could’ve signed J. Cole but we was transitioning from out of Sony. J. Cole used to go to St. John’s. Myself, B. Dot from Rap Radar, we all went to the same barber shop.”
In the aforementioned Pusha T statement, Consequence heard the It’s Almost Dry rapper’s reason for distancing himself from Kanye West, and he isn’t feeling it. In fact, he stated he is disgusted with King Push
Pusha T‘s time as the President and a member of G.O.O.D. Music is over.
During a visit to The Art of Dialogue podcast, Consequence says you should never abandon family.
“Family is a word that gets thrown around a lot, loosely,” Consequence begins in a clip exclusively obtained by AllHipHop. “And I could actually say that Kanye is my family, right. We not blood relatives, but that’s my family. We’ve done more things and have had more interactions mutually than we have with our own family. When I see something like that, I’m conflicted. I’m disgusted because of a multitude of reasons. And they aren’t all directed at Pusha T.”
You can hear it all below and Push’s response to Consequence here.
Sheek Louch is rolling with Pusha T when it comes to keeping his association with Kanye West amid his antisemitic rants.
Earlier this week, Consequence spoke out against King Push, stating he was wrong for distancing himself from Ye.

Enter Sheek Louch, who made a visit to DJ Vlad, and agrees with Pusha T’s decision.
“Shout out to Pusha. I never thought what he thought of everything,” Louch said. “You don’t have to hate him, but dog, I can’t stand for the shit you talking about right now. That’s good that he is making that stance.”
Pusha T has now fired shots back at former G.O.O.D. Music artist/ghostwriter Consequence with a biblical parable in response to his “disgust” with Pusha”s departure from the label.
Push posted on his IG story, Chp. 1 Corinthians Verse 7, quoting, “suffer yourselves to be defrauded.”
The biblical references maybe due to the reuniting of Clipse, which will bring Pusga back together with his twin brother No Malice, who has turned his life around and become a devout Christian soon after the arrest and conviction of the Clipse former manager Anthony “Geezy” Gonzalez.
Pusha reportedly backed away from the G.O.O.D. Music imprint because of Ye’s perceived anti-Semitic remarks, which Consequence says is all cap.
Cons also blamed Push for bringing tensions with Drake into Good Music, revealing he’s actually been to Drake’s crib but never stepped foot inside Push’s house.
Consequence has heard Pusha T’s reason for distancing himself from Kanye West, and he isn’t feeling it. In fact, he stated he is disgusted with the It’s Almost Dry rapper.

I’m disgusted because of a multitude of reasons. And they aren’t all directed at Pusha T.”
Cons added, “[G.O.O.D. Music] is something that I help build with my bare hands. It wasn’t nothing. Whatever the narrative was at Roc-A-Fella, at the end of the day, a lot of it was on my back. Kanye eventually propelled to stardom, so whatever we did worked. My equity is in his career and in the label. So that’s where I’m disgusted with somebody who wasn’t there from the start. When Ye is in a situation he talked himself into, he’s got to be responsible for that 100 percent. But we’re not going to stick together?”
Pusha T said he resigned from his position as G.O.O.D Music’s president but Consequence said that the “Diet Coke” rapper hasn’t filled in that role for years.
Following Kanye’s wildly offensive press run in 2022, many of his associates began to distance themselves from him. Push denounced Ye’s anti-semitic comments before Def Jam announced that their deal with G.O.O.D Music expired. Then, Push said he resigned as president of Ye’s label. During the same interview, he confirmed he doesn’t have any ties to G.O.O.D Music.
Needless to say, Push’s decision left people shocked since it appeared Push remained by Ye’s side through the thick of his controversies. However, Consequence refuted these claims. During a recent interview on The Art Of Dialogue, he explained that he was “disgusted” by Pusha T’s public statements regarding Ye and his role at the label.
“When I see something like that, I’m conflicted. I’m disgusted because of a multitude of reasons. And they aren’t all directed at Pusha T,” he said.
From there, he explained the amount of work he put in alongside Ye to establish the label. Since the days at Roc-A-Fella, Kanye’s plotted away but Pusha T only entered the picture afterward. Consequence explained that he understood the outrage surrounding Ye’s comments. However, he asked, “we’re not going to stick together?” At the same time, he revealed that there may have been tensions between Ye and Psuh that no one has necessarily addressed.
“Pusha T told you all the street shit and now we doing this industry shit? Nah. Now, in fairness, does Pusha T have a right to distance himself from situations he don’t want to be in? Yeah. He a man. Do those two have grievances behind the scenes that are not being spoke about? Yes, they do. So part of this shit is kinda cap.”
That’s when Consequence stated that Pusha T hasn’t been the president of G.O.O.D Music for some time. He alleged that the root of the issue was that Ye prevented Push from performing at concert in Chicago.
“The whole G.O.O.D. Music president shit? That’s cap,” he continued. “There was no G.O.O.D. Music president shit, n***a. That shit is cap. It ain’t been that shit for years. When n***a kickin’ some resignation shit, there ain’t no resignation shit. Just say you mad about the Donda 3 party in Chicago when he ain’t let you on stage. Say that.”
Consequence added that Pusha T is basically pushing G.O.O.D Music away and gunning for his Grammy at a time when Ye’s going through a crisis. However, he said that there’s a chance the two could repair their relationship in the future.
“They may communicate and find resolve to that situation,” he said. “But as it stands, I don’t fuck with that ‘cause I expect more out of Pusha T, honestly. This n***a base everything he stand for on the streets. I ain’t saying you gotta support it or not. If Pusha T wins a Grammy, Ye did half the album. So what? You’re not going to thank him? Or you gonna thank him and act like you ain’t say you resigned?”
He added, “At the end of the day, it was all good when they n***s were doing the Puff dance in the ‘Diet Coke’ video. You gotta stay like that or you don’t.”
