Lil Baby is keeping his stream of releases going, dropping off his third single this month, “Frozen.” The new single is an exploration of what it takes to be one of the best rappers in the world.

Earlier this month, Lil Baby dropped off “Right On” and “In A Minute,” following up on his promise that he is coming this summer.

With new music currently released and more on the way, Lil Baby will partner with Chris Brown for the One of Them Ones joint tour. In addition, Lil Baby has just been announced as a headliner of Hot 97 Summer Jam.

Speaking with The SOURCE earlier this month, Lil Baby said “I gotta start out early. So the whole summer could be up. It ain’t gonna be late summer.”  He’s holding true to that.

Lil Baby Keeps The Pedal To The Metal And Returns With The Laser-Focused ‘Frozen’

Lil Baby is one of many big-name artists that are set to release a new album this summer. The rapper has been promoting his third album, which would be his first solo release since 2020’s My Turn, as one that will surely take over the music world when the warmest months of the year arrive. Lil Baby hasn’t shared too many details about his next body of work, but he has given his fans some music. Earlier this month, he released “In A Minute” and “Right Now” to kick off his 2022 campaign, and now, he returns with a third track for listeners to enjoy.

Aiming to keep his hot streak alive, Lil Baby doubles back with “Frozen.” It presents the Atlanta native as a laser-focused spitter who is determined to stick to his journey in life without letting unnecessary distractions deter him. The new tracks arrived after Lil Baby earned his 100th entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, something that only Drake, Glee, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Future, Nicki Minaj, Elvis Presley, Chris Brown, Jay-Z, and Justin Bieber have done.

More recently, Lil Baby took the stage at the 2022 Coachella Festival, and shortly after, he was announced as one of the performers at Pharrell’s Something In The Water festival. Additionally, Lil Baby will set out on his One Of Them Ones tour alongside Chris Brown last this year.

Black Thought Adds A Clever Rap Verse To A Classic ‘Frozen’ Song On ‘The Tonight Show’

The musical abilities of The Roots are a core component of The Tonight Show and that was on display yesterday, when the show tasked Black Thought (aka Tariq Trotter) to come up with some new rap verses for non-rap songs. Trotter understood the assignment, as the kids say, and came through with some clever lines.

The “Rap Remix” segment started with a gaffe, as Trotter rapped about St. Patrick’s Day, the upcoming holiday most commonly associated with Ireland, over bagpipes, the instrument most commonly associated with Scotland. While uilleann pipes (listen to an example of them being played here) are a type of bagpipe associated with traditional Irish music, the ones heard on Fallon did not sound to be of that variety. Furthermore, the song being played was “Scotland The Brave.”

From there, Trotter rapped over the ’60s Batman theme song before wrapping up the segment with a take on beloved Frozen cut “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?.” The song was remixed into a more hip-hop-appropriate instrumental and Trotter really closed out the verse strong, concluding, “Up in a cyclone, we’ll build him together / Spring is upon us, I’m sweating, so / if he melts, just say, ‘Oh well’ / ’cause look: You gotta let it go.”

The Inescapable ‘Encanto’ Smash ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ Just Passed ‘Let It Go’ On Disney’s All-Time Hit List

Last week, the hit Encanto song, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” scored Lin-Manuel Miranda his first-ever top-ten song when the banger managed to hit number five on the Billboard charts. It was a notable accomplishment considering Disney hasn’t been able to crack the top five since “Let It Go” from Frozen in 2014. If you’ve had the song stuck in your head since Encanto started streaming on Disney+, then you probably won’t be surprised that “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is showing no signs of slowing down.

According to the latest Billboard charts, the Encanto hit is now at number four, which is something Let It Go was never able to achieve despite becoming the first top-five Disney hit since 1995’s “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas. After breaking a 19-year streak, Let It Go was taken out in a little over seven years. Via The Wrap:

In the latest data from Billboard, the Lin-Manuel Miranda hit became the highest-charting song from a Disney animated movie since 1995. With the No. 4 spot, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” ties with “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” from “The Lion King” — peaking at No. 4 in 1994 — and “Colors of the Wind” from “Pocahontas,” which peaked in the same spot in 1995.

In an interesting note, Encanto director Jared Bush recently revealed to The New York Times that the character of Bruno was originally named “Oscar” until Miranda stepped in and suggested “Bruno” after the production team realized there were way too many Oscar Madrigals in Columbia, which could’ve caused some thorny legal issues. Plus, “We Don’t Talk About Oscar,” doesn’t really have that same earworm hook that just burrows right into your skull and never leaves. Ever. Seriously, get this song out of our heads, for the love of God!
