Freddie Gibbs, The Actor, Looks Like The Real Deal In The ‘Down With The King’ Trailer

While there haven’t been many notable rappers who shined on the big screen through the years, there have been a few. 2Pac was a masterful villain in Juice and Above The Rim, DMX made an iconic performance as Tommy “Buns” Bundy in Belly, and you just can’t say enough about how spot-on Method Man was as Melvin “Cheese” Wagstaff in The Wire. But it could really go either way (I’m looking at you, Common), because the transition isn’t always fluid and not every rapper has legit acting chops.

If the trailer for Down With The King indicates anything, it’s that Freddie Gibbs can act and he’s ready to rise to the occasion as a multi-talented artist. The film, which is Gibbs’s film acting debut, is about a big-time rapper who gets sent to live in a rural farming community by his manager (played by David Krumholtz), in order to get away from the hoopla of celebrity culture and the music industry for a while.

Gibbs’ palpable range as an actor comes through immediately in the trailer. There’s a balance between pensive moments, well-delivered lines, and even the comic relief of Gibbs corralling pigs in his Timberland boots. To his and the film’s credit, it’s already gotten hat tips from a number of film festivals, including Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Diego Ongaro, it’s out digitally and on-demand June 28th.

Freddie Gibbs’ Fight In Buffalo Was Caught On Video

The only thing worse than possibly taking an L and having the whole internet laugh at you over it is having video footage of said L pop up online. Freddie Gibbs, who recently performed in Buffalo, New York with what appeared to be a swollen eye, had been the subject of some nasty rumors that said he’d been jumped just hours before. Now, TMZ has the footage, which depicts Gibbs and a whole bunch of other men trading blows inside the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que restaurant.

While there’s still no official word on just what started the brawl, fans have been running with one theory in particular due to its location and the war of words Freddie has been waging on hometown hero Benny The Butcher. While he’d previously enjoyed a healthy working relationship with all the members of Griselda Records, a recent exchange between Gibbs and the notoriously outspoken Westside Gunn seemed to sour that connection.

Then, after Benny dismissed a rumor of a joint album between the two, saying their time “came and went,” the prickly Gibbs took his words as a challenge. They have been going back and forth on social media ever since. However, if recent events are connected to their tiff, perhaps cooler heads will prevail and they can talk out their differences like grownups.

Freddie Gibbs Performs with Swollen Eye in Buffalo After Rumored Jumping and Chain-Snatching by Benny the Butcher’s Affiliates

Freddie Gibbs is Willing to Bury Beef with Jeezy, But Not Akademiks

Freddie Gibbs is rumored to have a wild visit to Buffalo, NY. According to artist Tony Rodgers, Gangsta Gibbs was beat down and his chain was snatched while eating before the show. According to XXL, Gibbs was in town for his Space Rabbit Tour.

“I just saw Freddie Gibbs get beat up and his chain took while I was eating in buffalo Ny,” Rodgers tweeted.

Rodgers also stated the scene was “bad” and Gibbs did not have help from his security, instead, his chain was snatched.

“Freddie Gibbs chain was snatched doing the video tell DJ ak to hit me up then I’ll upload the video everybody tagged him,” Rodgers added.

Gibbs would take the stage in Buffalo but noticeably had a swollen eye. He did have a chain around his neck. Gibbs would deny that he lost a chain in the altercation. You can see Gibbs and his swollen eye below.

According to TMZ, Gibbs was eating at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que when the massive brawl started.

For a long time, Benny the Butcher and Freddie Gibbs have been feuding. Nobody knows what began the feud, but the two haven’t worked together since Benny’s Hit-Boy-produced album Burden Of Proof‘s single “One Way Flight.” Benny claimed the time was passed when questioned about working with Gibbs again.

After the above tweet, Gibbs responded online: Niggaz whole marketing plan for they album is to beef with Freddie Gibbs. That’s cute,” Gibbs wrote, adding a kissing face and laughing emoji. “In the second post, Gibbs said, “If U opened up for me before just be grateful.”

The album Gibbs is speaking of his Benny’s recently released Tana Talk 4.

Fans Think Freddie Gibbs Performed With A Swollen Eye After A Confrontation With Associates Of Benny The Butcher In Buffalo

Freddie Gibbs is well-known for being one of hip-hop’s top trolls, but it appears that his mischievous ways may have caught up to him recently. Fans on Twitter are convinced that Gibbs’ back-and-forth with Benny The Butcher escalated into a physical altercation ahead of Gibbs’ show Sunday night in Benny’s native Buffalo, New York. The evidence backing these claims is a series of photos posted to Twitter that seemingly depict Gibbs performing with swelling around his eyes — the type you might expect from someone who’d recently been in a fight (or stung by a bee, I suppose).

There have certainly been a number of tweets that purported to have seen the incident in question. One commenter claimed, “I just saw Freddie Gibbs get beat up and his chain took while I was eating in buffalo Ny.”

The feud appears to have begun — at least publicly — with Benny citing that the duo’s working relationship “came and went” during an interview with Spotify. Gibbs issued an ornery response on social media, saying, “Just keep my name out y’all mouth when y’all talking to people or doing interviews,” in a video on his oft-suspended Instagram. They have been trading barbs ever since. Incidentally, one of those barbs was Freddie inviting an unnamed critic to a “head-up fade.” If he really did have a run-in with Benny’s crew, it looks like that invite was officially turned down.

Before this, though, they seemed to enjoy an amicable working relationship, with Benny appearing on Gibbs’ 2020 album Alfredo (on the song “Frank Lucas“) and Freddie returning the favor on Benny’s own 2020 project Burden Of Proof.
