Patrick Mahomes Reveals His Bizarre Gameday Superstition

Patrick Mahomes revealed this week that he has a pair of underwear that he wears for every NFL game he plays in. Speaking on the ManningCast this past Monday, Mahomes revealed he always dons a pair of red underwear given to him by his wife back in 2017. “First, my wife Brittany got them for me, so I’m not throwin’ y’all down, but I have to wear ’em, ya know. At the same time, I threw ’em on that first season [and] we had a pretty good season that season. I clean ’em. I wash ’em. Every once in a while, at least. I mean, if we’re on a hot streak, I can’t wash ’em, you know? I’ve gotta just keep it rolling,” he explained.

However, it’s not the first time the story has come to light. Back in February, longtime Chiefs backup Chad Henne mentioned Mahomes’ superstition during a podcast interview. Furthermore, Mahomes noted that he had no plans of scrapping the tradition anytime soon. “As long as I’m winning football games, I’ll keep the superstition going,” he noted. The Chiefs are 7-2 this season, with Mahomes having yet another excellent year under center.

Someone who could probably use a lucky pair of underwear right now is Deshaun Watson. The Cleveland Browns have announced that Watson will be sidelined for the rest of the season. According to a statement from the team, Watson will undergo surgery to repair a fracture in his throwing shoulder. Watson reportedly sustained the injury in the first half of the Browns game against the Ravens last weekend. However, the 28-year-old remained in the game, which was also arguably his performance since signing with Cleveland.

Injuries have marred Watson’s entire 2023 campaign. He missed four games earlier in the season due to a rotator cuff strain. In the six games he did play, he threw for 1115 yards and 7 touchdowns. His numbers are almost equivalent to his output across the six games he played last season. Overall, it puts an end to what was meant to be Watson’s redemption season after starting his Browns career on an 11-game suspension after being accused of sexual harassment and assault by over 20 women.

The Cleveland Browns have announced that quarterback Deshaun Watson will be sidelined for the rest of the season. According to a statement from the team, Watson will undergo surgery to repair a fracture in his throwing shoulder. However, the 28-year-old remained in the game, which was also arguably his performance since signing with Cleveland.

In Watson’s absence, the Browns have elevated backup PJ Walker to full-time starter. Walker, who joined the Browns from Carolina in the offseason, has 618 yards, 1 touchdown, and 5 interceptions on the season so far. That means the Browns’ high-performance defense will likely be called on even more over the second half of the season. Cleveland’s D has been one of the league’s best this year and is top-ten in terms of both passing and rushing yards allowed. Myles Garrett is well on his way to a career year, with many pundits already crowning him Defensive Player of the Year.

However, the Browns are 6-3 in one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL this season. They are half a game back of the Ravens and tied for second with the Steelers. Furthermore, the Bengals have completely turned their season around and are only a game back of Pittsburgh and Cleveland. As for the rest of the season, the Browns have a very mixed schedule. They face the aforementioned Steelers and Bengals as well as a surging Texans team. However, they also face ailing opponents in the Bears, Rams, and Jets.

Now, however, Donna Kelce is in the spotlight again thanks to Travis’ relationship with Taylor Swift. Swift has been in the skybox with Donna a few times. This has subsequently led to reports about exactly how Donna might feel about the famous pop singer. After all, Swift is the most famous woman in pop right now, and her relationship status is always big news. With Travis Kelce going to Argentina to be with Swift, it is very clear that things are getting extremely serious.

A TikToker named Dannielle Sparks said she was in Florida and went to see the movie for a fourth time. However, when she was there, she spotted Kelce who seemed to be at the theater alone. She subsequently went up to Kelce and was able to get a picture with the star. Overall, it was a very cool moment, and it just goes to show how interested Donna is in all of this.

Now, Sharpe is in his element while on television with Stephen A. Smith. The two have been having a lot of fun, and the audience can see it. However, they have both had their fair share of disagreements, which has kept the show going forward. On Monday, they had an in-depth conversation about the NFL world, and it led to a hot take about Lamar Jackson.

Overall, Jackson has been pretty good this year. However, in the last few games, there have been some missteps here and there. Consequently, Shannon Sharpe had a bit of a harsh take on Jackson this morning. Essentially, he said that he isn’t really convinced that the Ravens can win it all this year. He has some questions about Lamar, and at this stage of the season, he cannot truly trust him. Furthermore, he can’t trust the team as a whole.

Aaron Rodgers Reveals Ambitious Timeline For His Return

Aaron Rodgers suffered a brutal Achilles injury during his first-ever game with the New York Jets. Overall, fans were appalled that such bad fortune could take place. However, there were also a lot of people who roasted Rodgers. After all, he has been catching heat over the last year thanks to his political views. Regardless, this ended up setting the Jets back quite a bit. Subsequently, the team has been pretty mid, although Rodgers has made it his mission to come back to the field as soon as humanly possible.

Throughout the last few weeks, the Jets quarterback has made the ambitious claim that he will play before the end of the season. In fact, some have considered that he could play the last two games of the season as the Jets try to make the postseason. However, it is becoming more and more unlikely that they can go that far. After all, the Jets are 4-5 which doesn’t exactly instill much confidence. That said, last night, Rodgers made a very telling prediction.

According to Melissa Stark of NBC, Rodgers believes he can be back as soon as mid-December. Overall, this feels like a bit of a stretch. Typically, an Achilles injury keeps you out for a year. If he comes back in December, then his recovery will have only been three months. Although it is true that Rodgers is trying new things with his recovery, there has to be some sort of line drawn. By returning in December, Rodgers would be opening himself up to an even worse injury.

Only time will tell whether or not Rodgers can get it going this season. If he does, we might be looking at one of the greatest comebacks in NFL history. Former NFL Player D.J. Hayden Dead At 33 After Car Crash

Former NFL 1st round pick D.J. Hayden has died at the age of 33 after being involved in a car crash in Houston, early Saturday morning, according to the Houston Chronicle. He was among six people to die in the incident, which occurred when a driver ran a red light at the cross-section of Fannin Street and Pierce Street around 2:00 AM.

The Oakland Raiders drafted D.J. Hayden with the 12th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. After spending four seasons with the team, he played for the Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Washington Football Team. “The Raiders Family is mourning the tragic loss of former cornerback D.J. Hayden,” the team said in a statement. “The Raiders’ first-round draft pick out of the University of Houston in 2013, D.J. overcame a heart injury sustained in a college practice to play nine years in the NFL, including his first four with the Silver and Black. D.J.’s courage, perseverance, and dedication to his teammates will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him. The prayers of the entire Raider Nation are with D.J.’s loved ones at this time.”

During his nine-year career, Hayden recorded four interceptions, 46 passes defensed, 4.5 sacks and 328 total tackles. Prior to his NFL career, Hayden played his college ball for the University of Houston. While there, he made headlines in 2012 after surviving a near-fatal injury to his heart during practice.

Chad Johnson Begs Aaron Rodgers Not To Rush Return From Injury

Chad Johnson made an impassioned plea to Aaron Rodgers this week, asking the veteran QB to stay sidelined instead of trying to force an expedited return to the field. “Don’t do it. You’re going to reinjure yourself. It’s too soon. You have to understand. There are few injuries that you don’t want to play with. You don’t want to play with anything having to do with your groin, your Achilles, or your knees. You don’t rush back from those. I don’t care what your doctors tell you,” Johnson said via TMZ.

Rodgers went down four plays into his debut with the Jets back in September. However, the alternative medicine practitioner has recently hinted that he is just a few weeks away from being ready to play again. Given that Achilles tears tend to need 6-9 months to heal, it’s practically a miracle that Rodgers is seemingly bouncing back from one in half that time. Without Rodgers at the helm, the Jets are 4-4. The team has one of the best defenses in the league most weeks. However, there is little to no life on offense to help win games. This week, the Jets take on the 4-5 Raiders in Vegas. The Jets are favored by a single point in the matchup.

Rodgers Making Millions From Pat McAfee Show Appearances

However, the time on injured reserve hasn’t been all bad for Rodgers. According to a New York Post report last month, Rodgers is making at least seven figures a year for his weekly segment on Pat McAfee’s ESPN show. Rodgers has made a weekly Monday appearance on McAfee’s show ever since he moved to ESPN in September. “Aaron has made over $1,000,000 with us, for sure,” McAfee told the Post via direct message. It’s unknown if Alabama coach Nick Saban, who also does a weekly segment, is also paid to appear.

Many of Rodgers’ major offseason revelations were made on McAfee’s show, both before and after it moved to ESPN. Trade rumors, the darkness retreat, his aggressive rehab plan. All of those happened on McAfee’s show. Of course, there’s no rule against Rodgers getting paid for media appearances. However, it takes some of the veneer off McAfee’s brand. The former punter had built a reputation as a foul-mouthed frat bro who naturally attracted like-minded individuals to him. While he might still do that for his audiences, it appears his guests need a fat check to hang out with him.

The brief video of the pair has gone viral on social media after being posted by ESPN reporter Tory Barron. Yesterday, after a week of speculation, Kelce was spotted landing in Argentina. The Chiefs tight end undertook the 13-hour flight from Kansas City to Buenos Aires. According to most travel sites, the journey involves flying from Kansas City to Houston and then taking a separate flight from Houston to Argentina. However, Kelce must have left the Patrick Mahomes-hosted gala he attended Thursday night almost immediately to make it to Argentina Friday afternoon.

Earlier in the week, Kelce had refused to confirm whether he would be joining Swift in South America. “I might just say f-ck it and just go somewhere nice, I don’t know. My skin’s getting real pale so I gotta go somewhere sunny,” Travis said on New Heights when asked by his brother if he had plans for the Chiefs’ bye week. When Travis added that he wanted to be “closer to the equator”, Jason shot back with a “South of the equator?”

Meanwhile, Jason Kelce was welcomed as “Taylor’s Boyfriend’s Brother” when he visited The Weiners Circle in Chicago. The hot dog eatery incorporates “playful verbal abuse” as part of its service. Michael Thomas Arrested On Simple Battery Charges

Michael Thomas has been arrested for misdemeanor charges of simple battery and criminal mischief following an altercation with a construction worker who had been working on a house neighboring the Saints star wide receiver. Kenner police Lt. Mark McCormick revealed that the incident occurred around 7:00 PM on Friday, November 10.

“The victim stated that Thomas began yelling at him about parking in front of his house and verbally threatened to harm him,” McCormick announced in a press release, as noted by Around the NFL. “The victim began recording the incident, which upset Thomas, who then picked up a brick and threw it at the windshield of the truck, causing little if any damage. Thomas then walked up to the victim, knocked the phone from his hands, shoved him and told him he did not want to be recorded.”

Police released Thomas around 10:00 PM on the same night as his arrest. It’s unclear if the league plans to discipline him. In response to his arrest, the Saints released the following statement: “We are aware of the incident and are gathering information.” The organization acquired Thomas in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He’s recorded 564 receptions for 6,560 yards and 36 touchdowns with the team. After an incredible start to his career, he played in just 10 appearances over the three years prior to 2023 due to injuries.

The New Orleans Saints will take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at 1:00 PM, ET. Regardless of the arrest, Thomas will likely play in the game. The Saints are currently 5-4. Deion Sanders & Colorado Lose Fourth Consecutive Game

A field goal as time expired doomed Colorado to a 34-31 loss to Arizona and their fourth loss in a row. For most of the game, the Buffs had gone toe-to-toe with the ranked Wildcats. However, both defenses had stepped up after Arizona tied the game at 31 early in the fourth quarter. After four punts (two per team), Colorado missed an opportunity to take the lead through a 44-yard field goal. That gave Arizona just under five minutes to methodically drive their way down the field and seal the game with a 24-yard kick of their own.

The result knocks the Buffs down to 4-6 on the season and 1-6 in conference play. Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also took three more sacks, taking his season total to 48. Furthermore, Arizona’s win comes amidst a period of uncertainty for the university. A $240 million deficit in the school’s budget has lead the administration to announce that everything from layoffs to terminating some varsity athletics programs will be considered as a remedy.

Colorado’s Bowl Window Nearly Shut

Furthermore, the loss almost entirely eliminates Colorado’s chances of playing in a bowl game next month. Bowl eligibility requires a 6-6 record, except in highly unusual circumstances. To achieve that this season, the Buffs would need back-to-back road wins against Washington State and ranked Utah over the next fortnight. While a win against Washington State is feasible, Colorado would likely need a miracle to overcome the Utes.

While Sanders has stated that the team cares about wins, not bowl games, even he would admit that the season has turned into a disaster. Just a few months ago, Colorado was the talk of the college football world, having gone 3-0 in its non-conference schedule. However, they are now once against one of the worst teams in the Pac-12. Furthermore, questions have been raised once more about Sanders’ recruiting style. Despite overhauling essentially the entire roster, Sanders objectively failed to bring in solid units for the O- and D-lines.
