Beyonce’s new album COWBOY CARTER is a divergence into country music. Many fans were surprised she found inspiration in the genre, but the resulting album has received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. While she’s cited a variety of influences, some of whom even appear on the album, we got another reveal earlier this week. That came when one of her more surprising points of inspiration shared a gift she sent on Instagram.

That post came from Jack White, who has decades of influence in rock music with his bands The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, and his own solo material. White and Beyonce have actually worked together before. The pair teamed up for the beloved Lemonade deep cut “Don’t Hurt Yourself.” While he doesn’t appear to have directly worked on COWBOY CARTER, he was clearly an influence. He took to Instagram to show off a floral arrangement Bey sent him. “Jack, I hope you are well. For fans of Jack White it isn’t actually that much of a surprise that he inspired the record. White has long been a fan of country music, signing and reissuing country artists with his Nashville based Third Man Records. His band The White Stripes also played a cover of Dolly Parton’s classic tune “JOLENE” which also appears on COWBOY CARTER. He also served as producer on country singer Loretta Lynn’s 2004 comeback album Van Lear Rose.

Unsurprisingly, early projections for COWBOY CARTER claim the album is due to shoot directly to the top of the charts. It’s expected to hit number one on the Billboard 200. Kim shared a picture of the flowers and accompanying letter on her Instagram Story, earlier this week. “Kim, Have a beautiful birthday,” Beyonce wrote in the card to Kim. “Hope you are surrounded by joy. Kim previously attended Beyonce‘s 41st birthday party, last year, and more recently also attended her Renaissance World Tour birthday show back in September. Kim celebrated her 43rd birthday last Friday night at Funke restaurant in Beverly Hills. In doing so, she brought along her sisters as well as Hailey Bieber and Lauren Sánchez, among others.

Drake is fresh off of the release of his new album, For All The Dogs. Overall, this has proven to be one of the more polarizing releases in his discography. Some say this is one of his best in years. However, there are others who say this is his worst album, period. In fact, the album is his lowest rated on Metacritic. Metacritic features aggregate scores from a plethora of different reviewers. Needless to say, it isn’t just the fans who are saying this album is “weak.”

Regardless of the critical reception, this is a project that will sell plenty of units. Drizzy is on track to sell 420K first week, which will put him at number one. In fact, he will likely be at number one for a very long time. At the end of the day, Drake has always been a beast when it comes to sales. Even at this stage in his career, he can pretty well outsell anyone. The only person this might not be true against is Taylor Swift. That said, with the album out on streaming services, he is feeling quite poetic.

In the Instagram post above, Drake could be seen in some nice clothes while taking a stroll through a garden of purple flowers. Philadelphia is still reeling from the death of YNG Cheese, the eldest son of local rapper Gillie Da Kid. The 25-year-old was killed in a shooting in the Olney neighborhood of north Philadelphia last month. The victim was later confirmed to be YNG Cheese, with his cousin Wallo posting a tribute on social media. “Lil cuz usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you. Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life cheese. I got your father, rest well.”

The music world as a whole has been shocked by the death. Figures such as Swizz Beatz, Maino, and even Charlamagne Tha God addressed the shooting. At the time of writing, no suspects have been detained in the investigation. “What hurts so much about this situation,” Charlamagne Tha God explained, “is as much as Wallo and Gillie do for the community of Philadelphia.” “As much as they pour into these young brothers and try to stray them away from … killing each other and gang violence. To have his son be a victim of gun violence is tragic and a reminder that life is indeed not fair, in no way shape or form.”

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ Is No. 1 For Another Week While Coi Leray Earns Her First Top-10 Song On The Hot 100 Chart

Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” is a hit and it’s not slowing down: It came out about two-and-a-half months ago and it’s still the top song in the country. On the new Billboard Hot 100 chart dated April 1, “Flowers” is once again No. 1 for an eighth total week. The Endless Summer Vacation favorite was Cyrus’ first song to debut at No. 1 and is her second chart-topping single after “Wrecking Ball.”

She’s not the only one making noise on this week’s Hot 100, though, as two artists have made their debut in the top-10 on the new chart: Coi Leray’s “Players” has risen to No. 9 while TikTok-boosted country star Bailey Zimmerman’s “Rock And A Hard Place” is No. 10.

Previously, Leray had two songs reach the top 40 of the Hot 100: 2019’s “No More Parties” featuring Lil Durk peaked at No. 26 while last year’s Nicki Minaj collaboration “Blick Blick” topped out at No. 37. “Players” samples the Grandmaster Flash classic “The Message” and has become a hit on TikTok. She also recently released a Busta Rhymes-featuring remix of the song.

Zimmerman, meanwhile, is readying his debut album, Religiously. The Album., which is set for release on May 12 via Warner Music Nashville. “Fall In Love,” his debut single that immediately preceded “Rock And A Hard Place,” managed a Hot 100 peak at No. 29.

Even though Miley Cyrus can buy them for herself, it’s about time to give the pop icon her “Flowers,” as the aforementioned single sits at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The chart dated for the week of February 25, 2023 marks the fifth week for “Flowers” at No. 1.

At No. 2 is SZA’s “Kill Bill,” which has held this spot for six weeks. On this song, which has gone viral on TikTok, SZA humorously fantasizes about killing her ex.

Metro Boomin’, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage hold the No. 3 spot with “Creepin’,” which interpolates Mario Winans and Diddy’s 2004 hit, “I Don’t Wanna Know.”

Continuing the hot streak of breakup anthems is “Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2,” by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, which is currently at No. 4. This marks a 11-spot leap for the two rising artists, as the song debuted at No. 15 last week. It also marks the highest-charting hit for both artists.
