[WATCH] Jadakiss Tells Where His Trademark Laugh Came From

MTA Enlists Jadakiss to Voice COVID 19 Announcements for NYC Subways and Buses

Recently, on an episode of the I AM ATHLETE podcast, D-Block front man Jadakiss was asked about his well-known laugh that he blurts out before and after his unforgettable verses.

Jada said that the laugh was initially the way that he used to clear his throat in the booth before spitting out his verse. “My engineer, I think he’s from Croatia. Ruff Ryders introduced us to him, and he worked with us for years.” He added, “I was recording some verses and my voice is so raspy sometimes, I’m clogged up, I would do that as a tension breaker to clear my throat and my voice before I’m about to do the verse.”

The MVP of The L.O.X. vs. Dipset battle said that the laugh was only supposed to be a one time thing and he never intended on keeping it, but the engineer insisted that it sounded dope and it just stuck. “So I do it, I get out to come hear the verse and he kept it! I’m like, ‘What’s that?’ ‘Nah, you gotta leave that.’ I’m like, ‘iight.’ So then I just started doing it and people started loving it!”

SOB x RBE’s Lul G To Be Sentenced To 21 Years In Prison For Fatal Shooting

Screen Shot 2023 03 06 at 2.15.48 AM

It’s been confirmed that Vallejo rapper Lul G will not be charged with murder, but it is likely that he will be spending at least 21 years behind bars for a shooting that left a man dead back in 2019.

Lul G, whose real name is George Harris, will spend 21 years in prison for his role in the 2019 shooting death of 26-year-old Rashied Flowers. Lul was arrested within two months of the killing, but took a plea deal of no contest to involuntary manslaughter this past Thursday,

It was confirmed by Harris’ attorney that he will receive the 21-year sentence, but the sentencing isn’t scheduled until May. Because Harris held a previous felony conviction, he dodged a possible life sentence by accepting the voluntary manslaughter plea deal.

Prosecutors allege that Harris, Flowers and other friends were at a Fairfield, California home for a video shoot when a dice game began, which led to an argument between Harris and Flowers. Harris reportedly shot Flowers in the garage of the home.

Harris originally plead not guilty to the first degree murder charge.

The Vallejo rapper was a founding member of the SOB x RBE hip-hop collective. About two years after forming the group, Lul G inked a solo deal with Def Jam Records.

50 Cent Accused Of Confronting Former Drug Dealer About Lawsuit Over ‘Power’ Character

50 Cent Expendables

According to a report from AllHipHop, music and television mogul 50 Cent is accused of “pulling up” on Corey “Ghost” Holland Sr., who is suing the Power executive producer for allegedly basing the NYC-based street saga on his life.

Holland says in the lawsuit that Fif came to his place of residence twice in 2021 and that 50 was retaliating against him for filing the lawsuit.

Holland’s suit reads, “50 Cent shows up about a half mile from plaintiff home, and plaintiff sees the same truck that pulled into his driveway at the 50 Cent event. So plaintiff realizes it was either defendant Jackson or his Entourage who decided to ‘Pull Up.’ It continues, “When you looking for a confrontation your honor, this is what people say, nowadays. Up to this point, plaintiff had ignored a lot of ‘subliminal attacks’ on him online, but now 50 Cent is bringing the drama right to plaintiff front yard, so plaintiff responded to 50 Cent they way any normal person would respond to a possible threat, plaintiff prepared himself for whatever was go happen.”

Holland alleges that the seven acts in a CD he released, Blasphemy are identical to the seven seasons of the Starz television series as well as the first two seasons of Power Book II: Ghost.

50 Cent’s legal team called the lawsuit frivolous and stated that because the last showing of Power aired in February 2020 and the lawsuit was filed in April 2021, he missed the one-year statute of limitations under New York law.

50 Cent Reacts To Melle Mel’s Comment About Eminem Being Mentioned As Top 5 On Top 50 List

Screen Shot 2023 03 06 at 1.45.46 AM

Recently, Hip Hop pioneer Melle Mel appeared on The Art Of Dialogue and delved into the conversation about Eminem making the Top 5 spot on Billboard’s Top 50 Emcees of All Time. The “White Lines” rapper said that Mr. Matherts wouldn’t have made the list if he wasn’t white.

Melle spoke very candidly saying, “Obviously, he’s a capable rapper. If you was talking about sales, he’s sold more than everybody. If you were talking about rhyme style, okay he got a rhyme style. But he’s white. He’s white! So now if Eminem was another n***a like all the rest of us, would he be Top 5 on that list when a n***a that could rhyme just as good as him is 35? That had records and all that? He’s 35. He’s white.”

Fif jumped to Em’s defense on social media, saying, “There was more money selling dope than being in Hip Hop when Melly Mel was popping, the culture has grown so much. i’m not sure if it would be what it is today without artists like Eminem.” He continued, “S**t I’m not sure I would be who I am without him, but you know it’s competitive, so n***as gonna hate. LOL f**k outta here! we sucker free.”

Happy Birthday To Philly Rap Legend Beanie Sigel!

Screen Shot 2023 03 06 at 1.25.54 AM

Born on this date in 1974 in the City of Brotherly Love, Dwight Grant aka Beanie Sigel aka Beans morphed into a icon in the Philly Hip Hop scene as the leader of the now defunct Roc-A-Fella Records’ State Property. Even with all of his legal troubles and the untimely split of the Roc, Beanie is still regarded as one of the best emcees of his era and one of the very few who lives what he speaks in the booth.

With six solo albums, three State Property collabos and four silver screen blockbuster appearances, it’s difficult to argue that Beans has not had a successful career. Anyone who was able to hold Hova’s attention for more than one album has some obvious skills to match his street bravado.

Happy born day to Beans and many more in the future!

Idris Elba Slams Critics For Accusing Him Of ‘Denying His Blackness’

Screen Shot 2023 03 05 at 8.10.11 AM

Idris Elba is clapping back at critics who claim he denied his Blackness when he denounced the label, “Black actor.” The British actor explained to Esquire UK that referring to yourself as a Black actor can limit role opportunities and growth in Hollywood.

Elba shared, “I stopped describing myself as a Black actor when I realized it put me in a box. As humans, we are obsessed with race. And that obsession can really hinder people’s aspirations, hinder people’s growth. Racism should be a topic for discussion, sure. Racism is very real. But from my perspective, it’s only as powerful as you allow it to be, We’ve got to grow. We’ve got to. Our skin is no more than that: It’s just skin. As you get up the ladder, you get asked what it’s like to be the first Black to do this or that,” Elba continued. “Well, it’s the same as it would be if I were white. It’s the first time for me. I don’t want to be the first Black. I’m the first Idris.”

During a new interview with The Guardian, Elba added that he purposely lives a “sheltered life” because social media often chooses to contort the words of celebrities.

“It’s really difficult to have an opinion if you’re in the public eye because it gets overly scrutinized, taken out of context, and thrown into some sort of bullshit, zeitgeisty social media argument.”

The 50-year-old described social media as a “conflict incubator” and noted that his anti-Black actor label is his choice, and he’s sticking to it because it’s his prerogative.

“Me saying I don’t like to call myself a Black actor is my prerogative. That’s me, not you. So for you to turn around and say to me, I’m ‘denying my Blackness’. On what grounds? Did you hear that? Where am I denying it? And what for? It’s just stupid. Whatever,” he told The Guardian.

“There isn’t a soul on this earth that can question whether I consider myself a BLACK MAN or not. Being an ‘actor’ is a profession, like being an ‘architect,’ they are not defined by race. However, If YOU define your work by your race, that is your Prerogative [sic]. Ah, lie?”
