Incarcerated Brooklyn emcee Caswell “Casanova” Senior is sitting in a federal detention facility after pleading guilty to racketeering and drug distribution charges earlier this year. Now, a new photo of Casanova behind bars has surfaced online.

Cas seems to be in good spirits from the look of the image, draped in a yellow, federal prisoner’s uniform while giving a half-smile to the camera.

Senior is slated to be sentenced in December, where he could receive anywhere from five to sixty years in federal prison.

As previously reported, Casanova was arrested along with 17 other co-conspirators in 2020 on federal racketeering and drug charge after the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation fell to a RICO indictment, which involved firearms charges, narcotics, fraud and the murder of a 15-year-old male.

Today In Hip Hop History: YO! MTV Raps Debuted On MTV 34 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2022 08 06 at 5.42.16 AM

34 years ago on this date, MTV premiered the first episode of the Hip Hop generated video show, YO! MTV Raps.

Everybody has their own personal memory of MTV Raps. Whether it was during the era of comedians Ed Lover and Doctor Dre or during the Fab 5 Freddy reign, YMTVR gave the world its first continual, visual experience of Hip-Hop music. Not to downplay the world famous VJ Ralph McDaniels and the esteemed Video Music Box show based in NYC as well, but the scenarios, special guests, live performances, and other exclusive footage was only available on Music Television’s first Hip Hop show.

Created by late film director Ted Demme, Yo! MTV Raps‘ first video to appear was Rakim’s “Follow The Leader”, which was shown on the 1987 pilot, however, Shinehead’s “Chain Gang” was the actual first video shown during the show’s debut season. It helped spread Hip Hop across the globe with the help of MTV Europe, MTV Asia, and MTV Latino.

The series finale aired on August 17, 1995, with an unforgettable freestyle session. There were several attempts by MTV to relaunch a Hip Hop video show that had a cultural impact like Yo!, including Direct Effect and Sucker Free, however, Yo! MTV Raps remains an unparalleled aspect of Hip Hop culture.

Black-Owned Brand ‘Telfar’ Sees Spike In Demand After Beyoncés “Renaissance” Mention

Beyonce

Searches for Telfar were reportedly higher than Birkin after Beyoncé’s Renaissance mention.

Black-owned independent brand Telfar saw a spike in demand following Beyoncé name dropping the brand in her new song “Summer Renaissance,” off the album Renaissance.

“So elegant and raunchy, this hot couture I’m flaunting. This Telfar bag imported, Birkins, them sh*ts in storage. I’m in my bag,” Bey sings.

According to reports, Telfar soared with an 85% spike in views on the luxury resale site The RealReal. In addition, searches, page views, and “add to bag” clicks spiked 47% on popular resale platform Fashionphile.

Designed by Telfar Clemens, the luxury yet affordable handbags are best known for selling out within minutes of being listed for sale on drop day. The brand offers multiple colors and several size options that retail between $150 and $300.

Back in July 2021, the 28x GRAMMY Award winner was spotted supporting the Black-owned business donning a white (medium size) Telfar Shopping Bag, which helped launch it more in the spotlight from it’s popularity gained in 2020. Now after the latest mention from Queen Bey there’s no doubt in her ability to influence and define the culture. It’s the Beyoncé effect.

Ne-Yo’s wife, Crystal Renay Smith, is putting an end to their marriage.

Smith filed for divorce from R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo, born Shaffer Smith, earlier this week saying their marriage is broken with no hope for reconciliation.

Crystal listed the date of their separation as “on or about July 22, 2022” in the filing and claimed they’ve “continuously lived in a bona fide state of separation.” Adding, they are “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation.”

Smith also noted while her and the “Sexy Love” singer were together, he fathered a child with another woman, and “committed the act of adultery.”

A few days before the filing went public, Crystal shared an emotional message on social media airing out the 3x GRAMMY winner.

She accused the 42-year-old of cheating on her with “numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected,” asking the public to stop sending her videos and information about his alleged cheating, declaring his actions are “no longer my concern.”

Ne-Yo responded on social media shortly after asking the public to respect their privacy while they handle things offline for the sake of their children.

“For the sake of our children, my family and I will work through our challenges behind closed doors. Personal matters are not meant to be addressed and dissected in public forums. I simply ask that you please respect me and my family’s privacy at this time.”

The news comes just a few months after the couple renewed their vows in Las Vegas in April. Crystal, 36, is asking for primary physical custody of their three kids, joint legal custody, child support and alimony.  Renay-Smith previously filed for divorce in 2020 but ended up withdrawing her petition.

More Details Surface In Mystikal’s Rape Case, Now Faces Drug Charges

Screen Shot 2022 08 04 at 2.18.20 PM

A new report has revealed that more details have emerged in Mystikal’s rape case, which shows that drugs were involved in the physical altercation with a former girlfriend and that the NOLA rap legend could now be facing drug charges.

During Mystikal’s bond hearing yesterday in which he was denied a conditional release, Sheriff’s Detective Garrett Keith testified that the incident that occurred on July 30, happened between Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, and a woman his lawyers claim to have been in a long-term relationship with him.

The report says that the woman went to Mysitkal’s house to talk about some past money owed to her, but thing went awry when the woman allegedly stole $100 from the 52-year-old rapper. While the woman was looking for cash, it is reported that she found a “crystalline substance.” Authorities confirmed that they found meth, Xanax, heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the rapper’s home.

The woman, who remains unidentified, alleges that Mystikal punched, choked, and pulled her hair out, then after feeling remorseful, the woman says that he splashed her with rubbing alcohol to cleanse her “bad spirits” while he prayed. She then alleges that Mystikal asked if he could “feel” on her, which led to him forcefully pushing her on the bed and allegedly raping her.

The woman claims that after the rape, Mystikal asked her to CashApp him $100, but ended up snatching her phone and sending himself $150 before asking her to leave. The woman says a friend took her to the hospital, where a rape kit was administered and medical staff found that her injuries were consistent with her rape claims.

Mystikal was arrested and booked on first-degree rape, simple robbery, felony domestic abuse battery by strangulation and two other counts. Now, he is also facing an additional five drug counts along with the rape/robbery related charges. Mystikal remains in custody in the Ascension Parish Jail with no bond pending trial.
