Tasha K Asks Courts to Stop Cardi B From Wage Garnishment

tasha

Last week rapper Cardi B began garnishment proceedings against gossip vlogger Tasha K. Tasha K moved to Africa and bragged about dodging the $4 million judgment awarded to Cardi B after winning her lawsuit for defamation.
Now Tasha is trying to convince a judge to stop the proceedings.

According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Tasha K has filed documents in Georgia pleading for the judge to stop Cardi from being able to collect on the judgment until her appeal is heard.

However, Cardi is opposing this motion claiming Tasha has to put up a bond of $3.8 million to stay execution. The blogger is desperately trying to convince the judge to side with her.

The ruling is pending.

Thoughts.

Judge Denies Motion To Dismiss Jam Master Jay Murder Charge

Screen Shot 2022 09 21 at 11.17.00 PM

In an exclusive report from VladTV, it has been confirmed that a federal judge has denied a motion to dismiss the murder charges against the two men accused of killing Jam Master Jay in 2002. It has also been decided by the judge that the two men will not be tried separately in the two decade-long case.

U.S. District Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall rejected the motions by Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Tinard Washington’s defense attorneys, in which they argued that that federal prosecutors deliberately waited 12 years to charge the men, adding that trying the two men in one trial would prejudice the jury by default.

Both Washington and Jordan are accused of entering JMJ’s recording studio in Jamaica, Queens on October 30, 2002 and shot the legendary DJ for Run-D.M.C. execution-style in front of a host of witnesses. According to Judge Hall’s 17-page ruling, the murder was allegedly over a multi-kilo drug deal gone bad.

Hall did agree to sever eight drug trafficking counts against Jordan, which alleged he conspired to sell cocaine from 2016 to 2020. Prosecutors have claimed those charges are a result of an undercover operation but that they relate to the motive behind Jam Master Jay’s killing and involve many of the same witnesses as the murder charge.

Washington and Jordan both claim their innocence will be proven at trial, with both attorneys arguing the men’s alibis and in Washington’s case, his defense has been kept private from the public and the judge’s ruling describes Washington’s initial defense has been redacted.

Washington’s attorney also cited a sentencing transcript in a 2006 armed robbery case against Washington, where prosecutors said they could show Washington murdered both Jam Master Jay and Live Squad rapper Stretch, who was gunned down in Queens in 1995 on the one year anniversary of the Tupac robbery and shooting in Quad Studios. The defense claims that prosecutors deliberately waited to charge Washington with the JMJ murder in order to place the defense at a disadvantage.

“It seems contrary to reason that the Government would delay an indictment on a murder charge against Jordan and Washington—risking loss of witnesses and other evidence—on the hope that it might 12 years later bring additional charges against Jordan,” wrote Judge Hall.

On this date in 1993, De La Soul dropped their third full-length studio album, Buhloone Mindstate.

The legendary Long Island Hip Hop trio known as De La Soul showed and proved that the third time was the charm when they released their Buhloone Mindstate album two years after their oxymoronic De La Soul Is Dead LP. Marketed and promoted by Tommy Boy Records for DSL’s third time around, Buhloone Mindstate flew pretty much under the radar but still managed to make 10th on comedian Chris Rock’s Top 25 hip-hop albums of all time as published by Rolling Stone magazine.

The most familiar single would be “Breakadawn,” which features the unforgettable samples from Michael Jackson’s “I Can’t Help It” and Smokey Robinson’s “Quiet Storm.” Even the late great Guru from Gangstarr appeared on “Patti Dooke,” making this project one of the most well-rounded LPs from the three Plugs.

Salute to Trugoy, Mace, and Posdnous for this classic project!

The SOURCE Law Review: Iowa Teen Sentenced To Pay Rapist’s Family $150,000

ea74da44 daa6 4818 9d45 2e5eca0a02c5 1920x1080

By: Mel Sanchez

A teenage human trafficking victim initially charged with first-degree murder after stabbing her accused rapist to death was sentenced Tuesday in an Iowa court to five years of closely supervised probation and ordered to pay $150,000 restitution to the man’s family.

What are the details of the case?

Pieper Lewis was 15 years old when she stabbed Brooks more than 30 times in a Des Moines apartment. Officials have said Lewis was a runaway seeking to escape an abusive life with her adopted mother and was sleeping in the hallways of an apartment building in Des Moise. 37-year-old Zachary Brooks took her in but later forcibly trafficked her to other men for sex.

What were the charges?

Lewis stabbed Brooks more than 30 times while he was asleep in a Des Moines apartment after allegedly being repeatedly raped by him in the weeks leading up to the incident. She was initially charged with first-degree murder and later pleaded to involuntary manslaughter. A person is charged with First Degree Murder in Iowa if he or she kills another person under any of the following circumstances: willfully, deliberately, and with premeditation. While participating in a forcible felony. While escaping or attempting to escape from lawful custody. Prosecutors argued that because Brooks was sleeping, Lewis was not in immediate danger, thereby negating a defense to murder: self-defense. Additionally, because he was asleep, and Lewis had time to plan her actions. This “time to plan” constitutes premeditation.

However, Lewis was not sentenced to first-degree murder, she pleaded to voluntary manslaughter. Iowa voluntary manslaughter is a killing that would qualify as a murder; however, it is reduced to voluntary manslaughter because the act took place immediately after a sudden and intense provocation of the killer. It was argued that the repetitive actions of rape that occurred weeks leading up to the killing provoked Lewis to Brooks in his sleep.

Why does she need to pay $150,000?

A 1997 Iowa law requires people convicted of homicide to pay $150,000 in restitution. Restitution is court-ordered payment of crime-related expenses to a victim by an offender. Restitution holds offenders partially or fully accountable for the financial losses suffered by the victims of their crimes. Restitution is typically ordered in both juvenile and criminal courts to compensate victims for out-of-pocket expenses that are the direct result of a crime.

Will Pieper Lewis have to pay the restitution?

Lewis’s attorneys are in discussion as to whether or not they will appeal the order to pay $150,000. If brought to appeal, Lewis’ attorney will argue Brooks was more than 51% responsible for his death, and therefore Lewis should not have to pay his estate anything. Since news of her sentence, a Go Fund me page has been set up to help Lewis pay the restitution. Her attorney says, “Pieper is extremely grateful for all the love, compassion, and support that she has received. Anyone that has met her immediately falls in love with her, she’s a remarkable young woman who has remarkable courage. And she’s amazed at all the love she’s received – she’s just blown away. We’re all frankly blown away.”

Today In Hip Hop History: Marley Marl Dropped The Juice Crew Debut Album ‘In Control Vol. 1’ 34 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2022 09 20 at 7.15.12 AM

The title of “super producer” is not one to be taken lightly. For every era of Hip-Hop, there is a man behind the keys set the tone. Dr. Dre, Pete Rock, RZA, Swizz Beatz, Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland, The Neptunes, Mike Will Made-It, and Metro Boomin are among the few who have dictated what Hip Hop has sounded like over the years. Super producers have even spanned genres to influenced music as a whole, bringing the Hip Hop style to the masses.

On this day in Hip Hop history the culture’s first super producer, Marley Marl, released his debut compilation, In Control, Vol. 1, and forever changed the sound of Hip Hop. Before this album, Marley Marl’s true importance to Hip Hop had yet to be openly stated. It was known that he had a hand in some of the biggest records to have out at the time but this album put them all in the same place, proving what Marley Marl was doing to help Hip Hop evolve.

Before Marley Marl, Hip Hop production was quite primitive: the drums were sounded synthetic, the loops were monotonous, and as a whole production was more of a skeleton waiting to be filled by an MC. Marley Marl gave the instrumental life. His signature drum loops and soulful samples brought a new tone to Hip Hop. A Marley Mal beat served less as a compliment to the artist’s ability and more as fuel to jumpstart the intensity of the rapper, bringing out the best in him or her.

Commercially, this album was the success it was bound to be. Featuring Juice Crew members Biz Markie, Craig G., Roxanne Shante, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Heavy D, and more from Marley Marl’s private army. Pushed by the infamous Cold Chillin’ Records, the album peaked at #163 on the Billboard 200 and brought great publicity to Cold Chillin’ as a top label in Hip Hop. Following this album, the label rose to become a household name in Hip-Hop and Marl Marley grew to become an immortal icon of Hip Hop culture.
