Keith Murray Stands By Alleged Sexual Encounters With Foxy Brown & Shawnna

Back in January of 2023, Keith Murray chatted with The Art Of Dialogue about his past alleged sexual encounters with the likes of Foxy Brown and Shawnna. He went into graphic detail about the alleged encounters, which neither of the women appreciated. Foxy hopped on Instagram to accuse him of being on drugs, not holding back in the slightest. “Boy f*cked up adding my name to that fairytale [crying laughing emojis],” she wrote. “F*ck a dog first p*ssy [crying emojis].”

“Tha guy hat alone should’ve told yall that sh*t was no bueno,” she added in a subsequent post. “Now somebody yell dope fiend a** Keith Murray we wanna book him for a walk thru [laughing emojis]. (1500 and a bg of Jums).” Instead of backing off, however, Keith Murray recently doubled down. He sat down for an interview with Willie D earlier this week, insisting that everything he said was true. Moreover, he offered Foxy Brown a half-apology, claiming that while he’s sorry for offending her, but not sorry for what allegedly happened.

Keith Murray Calls Foxy Brown The “Whip Whop Queen”

“Everything I said about Foxy Brown was true,” he explained. “If I offended her, I apologize for bringing out my truth. I’m not apologizing for my truth, but it’s the truth. What happened between me and her happened. And Shawnna said she don’t know Keith Murray. That’s a lie. Ask Ludacris. Shawnna know me well. She was in the car with me all the time. Ask Rob Love. I know her like the back of my hand. She got nice ankles and nice feet and the p***y—I ate the p***y, yes. And Foxy Brown, she gave me—she’s the whip whop queen.”

Today in Hip-Hop History: Geto Boys Dropped Their Debut LP ‘Making Trouble’ 35 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2023 02 16 at 8.03.30 AM

On this day in Hip-Hop History, Texas OGs The Geto Boys released their debut LP Making Trouble 31 years ago. Although the start of the career of one of the most prolific southern rap groups to ever grace the mic, this project may have been their least heard and most unknown album.

Coming at a time in the group’s history where they were referred to as the more conventionally spelled “Ghetto Boys,” this album showcased the lyrical ability of a then four-member underground group. The group was composed of DJ Reddy Red of Trenton, NJ(RIP), Prince Johnny C, and the Slim Jukebox, with Bushwick Bill on the roster as a hypeman and a dancer. It wasn’t until after the release of this project that Rap-A-Lot Records dropped Reddy Red, Johnny C, and Slim Jukebox to add Scarface and Willie D.

On this project, the group used a style of rap and aesthetics that resembled the legends Run-DMC. The mimicry of the New York rap trio was deep. The group wore all black with top hats and thick gold chains, their music featured heavy rock influence with guitar riffs and high energy drum patterns, and their group dynamic of two emcees and a DJ is exactly what Run-DMC sported.

This album was not the most popular album from the Geto Boys camp, but it is an exciting piece of the group’s history. This project shows the growth and development it took for the group to become the legends that they are respected today.

Willie D created the “Geto Boys” podcast to include the group after gaining notoriety with his own, renowned “Willie D Live” podcast, which garnered hundreds of thousands of views since its launch in 2015. On the most recent episode of the Geto Boys podcast, Willie D confronted the group’s front man, Scarface, for not including him in the performance of “Mind Playing Tricks On Me” during the Grammys’ commemoration of Hi[ Hop’s 50th anniversary.

Willie D stated, “Slighted? I feel beyond slighted. Like what I’m tryna figure out is … First of all, I ask you Wednesday when we left here, I said, ‘What you got for the weekend?’ You said, ‘I’m finna go fuck with this Grammys thing.’ I said, ‘Alright man, safe travels.’ Because, you know, that’s how we do it. Saturday come, I’m online and an article comes across about the Grammys. And I see ‘Geto Boys and Scarface’ in the lineup.”

Scarface replied Willie D, “I can stand on my own two feet with no Geto Boys,” and Willie agreed. Willie then stated, “Remember I’m the one who said, ‘Hey man, you oughta call yourself Scarface.’ So I ain’t gon’ never hate on you. Never. When I see you win, I see Geto Boys win because we are a group.”

Willie D Confronts Scarface About Being Excluded From Grammys Performance

Though the Grammys have a history of neglecting hip-hop, the culture received great representation on the stage this year. Questlove curated an exceptional performance that brought together the pioneers of hip-hop with the younger generation. Artists like Grandmaster Flash and Public Enemy were joined by acts such as Lil Baby and Lil Uzi Vert on stage for a 14-minute set the celebrated the history and evolution of hip-hop.

Scarface performed “Mind Playing Tricks On Me” but Willie D felt some way about it. He revealed that Questlove nor the Grammy invited him to perform. He also stated it was another attempt to minimize Geto Boys. “A reminder to the Grammys and all the rest of y’all out there trying to hustle the Geto Boys brand by only including Scarface, who had a stellar solo career,” he said. “If you forgot, the group includes Scarface and Willie D,” he added.

Willie D Confronts Scarface Over Geto Boys Grammys Performance

Willie D explained to Scarface on The Geto Boys Reloaded podcast that he felt more than slighted by the Grammys this year. He said that he woke up that described the performance as Geto Boys and Scarface. Scarface stated that he doesn’t “need Geto Boys to be Scarface.” But, in regards to the billing, Scarface said that it’s the Grammys fault. “… I can stand on my own two feet with no Geto Boys,” he said.

Afterward, Willie D said that he agreed with Scarface’s take and even praised his solo career. “When I see you win, I see Geto Boys win because we are a group,” he explained. “A Scarface song is a Scarface song. That’s on Scarface’s catalog, not Geto Boys’ catalog.” However, Scarface took issue with Willie D attempting to put the blame on him rather than the Grammys. “And I think the reversal of trying to put that shit on me because you didn’t go there to the Grammys is fucked up,” he said. Scarface added that he wouldn’t feel any way if Willie D performed the song without him. By the end of the conversation, they both agreed that they’ve delivered live renditions of the song on their own in the past. Check the episode above.

Willie D Calls Out Scarface For Not Inviting Him To Perform At The Grammys

Willie D Blasts Grammys For Including Scarface, But Not Geto Boys, In Hip-Hop Tribute

While it’s impossible to fit every hip-hop icon into one performance for its 50th anniversary, some omissions feel easily avoidable. Willie D just called out the Grammys for inviting Scarface to perform, but not the rest of the Geto Boys. Moreover, Scarface delivered his verse on the 1991 classic “Mind Playing Tricks On Me.” The fantastic homage at the 65th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday (February 5). Also, the near-14-minute show included many legends, from Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five to Nelly and even Lil Baby. However, when Scarface delivered the medley’s first Southern staple, his fellow Geto Boy Willie D was nowhere to be seen.

Afterwards, Willie took to Instagram to express his frustrations. Moreover, he’s the only other living member of the Houston group, as Bushwick Bill passed away in June of 2019. “A reminder to the Grammys and all the rest of y’all out there trying to hustle the Geto Boys brand by only including Scarface, who had a stellar solo career: How in the hell are you gonna have a 50-year tribute to Hip Hop and not include Geto Boys the group?” Willie asked. “If you forgot, the group includes Scarface and Willie D. How you gonna use a performance that includes a song that I co-wrote but not even have the decency, the respect to reach out to me and ask me if I wanted to participate? Y’all are some clowns for that. All the way out of pocket. Whoever made the call, y’all some clowns… No more talking.”

Also, he captioned his post with ““Disrespectful Mofos!!! No mo’ talk.” In fact, some people even questioned why Scarface himself didn’t give him a call or decline performing without him. Still, Questlove clearly curated this spectacle with a lot of heart and passion. With that in mind, we don’t know who was directly responsible for this specific decision. Regardless, the Roots drummer partnered with Nas’s Mass Appeal to bring hip-hop’s fifty years to life. “Hip Hop has been a driving force in the music and the culture,” he expressed. “It’s had an immeasurable impact on our culture and our world and I’ve had the great privilege of co-curating this thing with the Roots and many others that are gonna join us that night.”

Meanwhile, LL Cool J finished the performance with a hopeful gaze towards the future, and by acknowledging the long journey. “From The Bronx to the five boroughs, to the West Coast to the Heartland; overseas to Europe, to Africa, to Asia; TikTok, whatever’s next,” he said. “Because thanks to the 33 Hip Hop artists on stage and the countless more we love, Hip Hop is a global platform today. We’re celebrating. Happy 50th anniversary to Hip Hop, baby!” Come back to HNHH for the latest news on the Grammys, hip-hop history, and underrepresented legends.
