Lil Durk Says J. Cole Feature “Went Crazy” Despite Not Being Into Lyrical Rap

Despite just being a single, “All My Life” from Lil Durk and J. Cole is already one fo hip-hop’s biggest moments of 2023. Whether it’s fan acclaim or other artists giving them their flowers, everybody emerged with exceeded expectations from this collab, which were already high. What’s more is that Smurk himself has already talked about what the feature means to him and how it impacted him. During a recent interview with RapCaviar, he remarked on how Cole didn’t even have to go that hard for the collab. Fortunately, it ended up with one of the more notable verses of the year from both MCs.

“Nah he went crazy,” Lil Durk expressed when it came to J. Cole’s feature. “I had to listen to it like four times. You know I ain’t super big on lyricist-type rappers. With Cole, [he] was one of the ones, like him and Jay, you gotta play them 50 times to catch what they’re saying. Like, if you listen to Lil Wayne right now, and you heard some s**t ten years ago that you just catch onto today. But he definitely gave me one of them verses and I appreciate it. ‘Cause he ain’t even have to, for real. He could’ve gave us anything.

Lil Durk On J. Cole’s “All My Life” Verse

Of course, this isn’t the first time that the Chicago MC spoke on J. Cole’s greatness on that track. “The number one thing, he smoked my a** on that, for one,” Lil Durk admitted. “Barely. That barely happens. But shoutout to Cole, shoutout to [Dr.] Luke. We made it happen.” In addition, other rappers like 21 Savage also had a lot of praise for the North Carolina spitter’s contributions in particular.

“Cole just went so crazy on that verse wtf,” the Atlanta MC wrote on Twitter. Furthermore, a lot of fans also had much to say about the Almost Healed artist’s lyrical display and thematic cohesion. It’s not like those traits are rare for The Voice, but they are always a treat to see when contrasted with his grittier and more boastful bars. For more updates on J. Cole and the latest news from Lil Durk, log back into HNHH.

Grand Opening Of Museum Of Graffiti’s Latest Exhibition “All Black Everything” Slated For June 2

Screen Shot 2023 05 18 at 10.21.19 AM

Museum of Graffiti, the world’s first Museum dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of graffiti art, is announcing today the opening of the first exclusively African American graffiti exhibition. Opening on June 2nd, 2023, the exhibition entitled “All Black Everything,” celebrates the contribution and art of multi-generational graffiti artists from the African diaspora. To celebrate the opening, the Museum will host a panel discussion with artists featured in the exhibit including graffiti pioneer Richard “Bama” Admiral.  The discussion will be the first of many “Fighting Spirit Stories” told throughout the summer as part of Modelo’s Summer Culture Series at Museum of Graffiti.

Guests can expect to see the work of famed African American artists Bama, Blade, Daze, Delta2, Dondi White, Esteme, Ewok, Kool Koor, Noc167, Quik (Lin Felton), Skeme, Sneke, VFR, and Wane One alongside vintage sketchbooks and ephemera showcasing the early artistry of the influential and elusive Web One. Original graffiti paintings on canvas and works on paper from the past 40 years will also be available for purchase within the exhibit.

“In the 1970s, the Bronx was burning due to economic turmoil and crime. It is no wonder that the imaginations of the African American artists living in these neighborhoods propelled them beyond their surroundings into a world of fantasy and hope. This is what you will see in the paintings by Kool Koor, BAMA, and Delta2,” said Allison Freidin, co-Founder, Museum of Graffiti.

Modelo’s Summer Culture Series will include special museum programming and classes on the first Friday of each month, beginning June 2nd, and will touch on all generations of black and brown graffiti artists. Opening night admission will be limited to guests 21+ for the first look at the exhibit with complimentary beverages courtesy of Modelo.

“Many people around the world are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop by placing an exclusive emphasis on the music. However, hip hop is a movement with great cultural contributors across many creative disciplines, including graffiti. From Bama in the North Bronx who participated in the first graffiti exhibition in 1973 to Harlem’s cultural icon Skeme to Wane One who for the past 30 years has been traveling around the world teaching his unique lettering style to disciples around the globe. There is no better time to celebrate their genius than now,” said Alan Ket, curator and co-Founder of the Museum of Graffiti.

Ongoing support for the museum’s Hip Hop programming is provided by IMLS.

Jazzamatazz, which was executive produced by Guru, featured Jazz legends such as Roy Ayers, Branford Marsalis, Donald Byrd, and N’Dea Davenport of the Brand New Heavies. Guru also introduced Hip Hop in the states to the international community, recruiting MC Solaar of France(not to be confused with the controversial producer Solar with whom Guru was connected before his passing).

In a recent tweet, the legendary rapper/actor tweeted, “Artist Public Service: Doing Interviews can be risky if you Don’t know what you’re doing.” Ice then spoke on tricks used by hosts to get the viral content they’re looking for. “They will talk to you for hours hoping you say one thing they can TWIST and hype up for clicks.”

He concluded by talking about the devolving content of today’s podcasts, saying, “Unfortunately, most podcasts have now DEVOLVED to this BS. Just saying.”

Detroit singer Kid Rock donated $5,000 to ex-Marine Daniel Penny’s defense fund after he turned himself in for killing Jordan Neely on a NYC Subway. In support of the ex-Marine, his fundraising campaign has raised more than $2.2 million as he faces manslaughter charges over chokehold death.

Neely, 30, was killed on May 1 after Penny placed him in a chokehold on a train. In the following days, video emerged of Penny holding Neely in the hold for around three minutes and protests erupted across NYC calling for criminal action against Penny.
Donations to the online fundraising campaign, coordinated by Penny’s attorneys, have doubled in around a day – nearly 50,000 donations amounting to more than $2.2million had been raised as of Monday afternoon.

52-year-old musician Kid Rock, included a dig at the Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in a note accompanying his donation on the fundraising site.

Mr. Penny is a hero. Alvin Bragg is a POS. Kid Rock,’ his message on Christian crowdfunding website GiveSendGo read.

Days later Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg announced that his office would be prosecuting Bragg with manslaughter without calling a grand jury. Kid Rock’s support of Penny comes after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis posted a link to the website in a tweet, which also attacked Bragg.

‘We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left’s pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law abiding citizens,’ he wrote on Friday.

‘We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny. Let’s show this Marine… America’s got his back.’

Penny has been released on a $100,000 bond and is due back in court in July.
