[WATCH] WTC’s RZA Appears On SiriusXM’s ‘The Tor Guide’, Announces Las Vegas Residency

RZA recently appeared on SiriusXM’s The Tor Guide hosted by Toraeon SiriusXM’s Hip-Hop Nation. During the interview, RZA discussed recording new music with Wu-Tang Clan and announced the upcoming Wu Tang Clan Las Vegas Resdency, which is slated for February.

The show’s host Torae asked, “As we talk about new music, how often are you recording with the guys? Obviously, just coming off tour and being back together, we’ll talk about that camaraderie and that energy, but how often are you actually creating music with the guys?” RZA swiftly responded,  “It’s rare. It’s getting rarer because of schedules, because of life, because of being fathers and movie stars and businessmen, but it happens. You know what I mean?” The Abbott added, “The good thing is that whether it happens with me, it still happens. Mathematics, his production skill is razor sharp, so we could just pop up and he’ll hit us with a joint. DJ Scratch has dropped a couple of joints off, Swizz Beats a couple of joint off. You know, in the old days, I was very, you know, just dominant like, “This all my beats,” and that’s because in the old days, I didn’t feel that other producers were giving the hip-hop type of beat that I thought was dope for Wu. If you pay attention to hip-hop and you listen to Wu, one thing you may recognize is that a Wu joint will come on and nobody won’t dance. Everybody listens and because of that is because I don’t want you to dance. I want you to listen, you know what I mean? That means that while a lot of producers was producing for the club and trying to make people dance and produce a radio hit, I was producing for hip-hop.”

Even with the unprecedented Grammy celebration honoring 50 years of Hip Hop featuring legends in the game such as Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah and many more, the absence of the legendary MC Hammer was painfully noticed by fans and his peers alike. Hammer’s reason for not attending was discovered when a clip of his explanation sresurfaced online.

Back in November, Hammer was a guest at the Tupac Street Renaming ceremony in Oakland, which is where the Oakland native explained his reason for not participating in any of the Hip Hop 50th anniversary to which he was invited.

Hammer cited that there was a lack of sincerity within the Hip Hop community and that he held no tolerance for the “fakeness” he’s observed in today’s Hi pHop landscape. The Tupac Street Naming was the only event that the 60-year-old “Can’t Touch This” rapper attended during Hip Hop’s highly publicized 50th year.

After an aggressive negotiation, reigning American League MVP Shohei Ohtani has agreed to terms with the Dodgers on a record-breaking 10-year, $700 million deal, according to his agent, Nez Balelo. The team officially announced the deal on Monday night.

“To all Dodgers fans, I pledge to always do what’s best for the team and always continue to give it my all to be the best version of myself,” Ohtani wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday. “Until the last day of my playing career, I want to continue to strive forward not only for the Dodgers but for the baseball world.”

“This is a unique, historic contract for a unique, historic player,” Balelo said in a statement. “Shohei is thrilled to be a part of the Dodgers organization. He is excited to begin this partnership, and he structured his contract to reflect a true commitment from both sides to long-term success. Shohei and I want to thank all the organizations that reached out to us for their interest and respect, especially the wonderful people we got to know even better as this process unfolded.

“We know fans, media and the entire industry had a high degree of interest in this process, and we want to express our appreciation for their passion and their consideration as it played out.”

The 29-year-old’s contract is said to be the largest contract in worldwide sports history, surpassing soccer superstar Lionel Messi’s $674 million deal with FC Barcelona from 2017-21. (It also surpasses the roughly $679 million Kylian Mbappé would earn if he opts to stay with PSG through 2025.)

In terms of the history of American professional sports, it surpasses Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year, $450 million extension; in baseball, it exceeds former teammate Mike Trout, who agreed to a 12-year, $426.5 million extension with the California Angels back in 2019.

As for free-agent deals, this is the largest by dollar amount in MLB history by $340 million, surpassing Aaron Judge’s nine-year, $360 million contract inked ahead of the 2023 season. It also breaks the record for average annual value for an MLB contract, previously set by Max Scherzer at $43.3 million with the Mets ahead of the 2022 season, then tied by Justin Verlander with the Mets a year later.

Ohtani, who will turn 30 on July 5, is locked up through 2033, which will be his age-39 season. A two-time unanimous MVP, three-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and the 2018 AL Rookie of the Year, Ohtani has been far and away the most impressive two-way player in MLB history.

“In a year and a night full of hip-hop moments, this is a big one,” says Questlove. “I grew up idolizing these two from my hometown of Illadelpho. They were the first artist to ever receive a Grammy award for hip-hop. Back then, they weren’t invited to perform or accept their award on camera, which led to the hip-hop community sitting things out that year. But thankfully, a year later, their hip-hop invitation did show up and they did become the first hip-hop group to ever perform at the Grammy Awards. And tonight, as a fan, as a friend, from way back in Philly, let’s welcome to the Grammy stage, the incomparable, the amazing, the legendary, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince!”

Grieving Family of Deceased Inmate Takes Legal Action Against Prison System Over Missing Heart

ezgif.com webp to jpg

In a tragic and deeply unsettling turn of events, the family of Brandon Clay Dotson is filing a lawsuit against the Alabama prison system, alleging that their loved one’s body was returned to them without a heart. This shocking discovery has left the family devastated and has raised serious questions about the handling of inmate remains within the Alabama correctional system.

Brandon Clay Dotson, whose identity is at the center of this heartbreaking case, passed away while incarcerated in an Alabama prison. The anguish of his family intensified when, during the preparations for his funeral, they uncovered the distressing fact that Dotson’s heart was missing.

The lawsuit filed by Dotson’s family contends that the Alabama prison system displayed negligence in the post-mortem examination, leading to the inexplicable absence of the heart. The family’s legal representatives argue that this oversight not only compounds their grief but also constitutes a violation of their right to bid farewell to their loved one in a complete and dignified manner.

Legal experts closely monitoring the case suggest that it could have far-reaching implications for how inmate deaths are handled within correctional facilities. Families, already grappling with the challenges of losing a loved one to incarceration, trust that prison authorities will handle the remains with the utmost care and respect. Dotson’s case puts the integrity of this system into question.

The lawsuit sheds light on potential systemic failures within the Alabama prison system, drawing attention to concerns about the thoroughness and transparency of medical examination procedures. Dotson’s family contends that the missing heart indicates a significant flaw in the system’s ability to conduct proper investigations into inmate deaths.

Alabama prison officials have suggested that the absence of the heart may be due to natural decomposition or other medical factors. However, Dotson’s family remains unconvinced, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive, impartial inquiry to uncover the truth about their loved one’s death and the subsequent handling of his remains.

Beyond the legal implications, this case underscores the emotional toll on families who must navigate the already difficult circumstances of losing a loved one to incarceration. The shock and trauma of discovering the absence of a vital organ during funeral preparations have added an unimaginable layer of distress to their grief.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the grieving family of Brandon Clay Dotson hopes that their lawsuit will not only provide justice for their loved one but also instigate systemic changes within the Alabama prison system. This case serves as a poignant reminder of the profound responsibility borne by correctional institutions in managing the lives and deaths of those under their custody, urging a reexamination of protocols to ensure the humane and respectful treatment of inmates and their families.
