This album, which within a six-month time span went platinum, dropped a series of singles that became instant anthems, making Naughty one of the best hook makers in Hip Hop of that era. Some of those smash singles include the “Uptown Anthem”, which features a rookie Tupac Shakur in the video as a promo for the cult classic flick Juice, the rags-to-riches story of “Everything Is Gonna Be Alright” and the millennial classic gem “O.P.P.”.

Lee Daniels’ The Deliverance Premieres on Netflix Amid Reports of On-Set Paranormal Activity

Last week, acclaimed director Lee Daniels unveiled his latest film, The Deliverance, on Netflix, receiving rave reviews for its chilling narrative and gripping performances. However, the story behind the scenes may be just as unnerving as the film itself. Daniels, known for pushing the boundaries of cinema, revealed in a recent interview that strange and eerie events plagued the production, despite his efforts to protect the cast and crew from any supernatural influences.

In a candid town hall interview hosted by SiriusXM’s Bevy Smith, Daniels recounted his decision to bring a spiritual deliverer onto the set after reading about the terrifying occurrences that befell the productions of horror classics like The Exorcist and Poltergeist. Daniels wanted to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved, particularly as The Deliverance explores themes of demonic possession and paranormal activity.

“Things happen, and I was not gonna let things happen on my set, and also I needed it for me,” Daniels explained. “And so we prayed before every [scene] — and there’s those of us that don’t believe in prayer.” Despite the prayers and spiritual precautions, several unsettling incidents still transpired, leading Daniels to believe that something otherworldly may have been at play.

Among the most disturbing occurrences was the sudden illness of Daniels’ sister, who has appeared in every one of his films as a good luck charm. Shortly after filming a scene with Glenn Close, she was diagnosed with lung cancer, a shocking and heartbreaking development for the director. “She was in the scene with Glenn in the chemo scene, and she’s the one that sort of gave her attitude in the chemo scene,” Daniels shared. “And two days later, after being in the chemo scene, she was diagnosed with lung cancer — literally. My dog died on the set.”

The film’s star-studded cast, including Glenn Close, Mo’Nique, Andra Day, and Demi Singleton, also experienced strange happenings during production. Mo’Nique, who plays a key role in the thriller, revealed that she was hospitalized after a particularly grueling scene.

“Mr. Daniels had me doing a scene, okay? And we’re outside,” Mo’Nique recounted. “The demon was supposed to be on top of the building, so they kept blowing this — I mean, at one point I’m like, ‘Lee, do we have this s— because I can’t breathe.’ They kept blowing. He was like, ‘One more time. One more time.’ So when I got finished, right, my thyroid was big, I mean, it was just sick. Oh baby. I was like, ‘What kind of s— is this?’ It was a lot of things happening with The Deliverance.”

The Deliverance follows a family in Indiana who become convinced that their house is a portal to hell after experiencing a series of strange and demonic occurrences. The film’s blend of psychological horror and supernatural elements has already captivated audiences, but the real-life events that haunted its production have only added to its mystique.

Federal Investigation Deepens into Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Amid Allegations Involving Daphne Joy

The legal troubles surrounding Bad Boy Entertainment CEO Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have taken a significant turn as federal prosecutors from the Southern District of New York intensify their investigation. Earlier this year, former Bad Boy music producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones filed a $30 million civil lawsuit against Diddy, alleging that 50 Cent’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his child, Daphne Joy, was involved in Diddy’s alleged trafficking ring. Now, it appears the feds are digging deeper to uncover more about the accusations.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, federal authorities have issued a subpoena to a luxurious Miami hotel, demanding a wide array of records linked to Diddy, Daphne Joy, and other associates of the hip-hop mogul. The subpoena, which focuses on the period from January 1, 2008, to the present, seeks extensive information including reservation records, check-in and check-out dates, room numbers, guest preferences and requests, and billing details.

But the investigation doesn’t stop there. The subpoena also requests email and mailing addresses, phone numbers, and payment methods used by Diddy, Daphne Joy, and others, whether it be cash or credit. Additionally, federal prosecutors have asked for computer IP addresses, logins, identification copies, and even vehicle information connected to the individuals involved. Furthermore, the feds are inquiring about any surveillance footage the hotel might have, potentially seeking to piece together a clearer picture of the activities and interactions that took place.

This latest development signals that authorities are far from finished with their investigation into Diddy, with the new subpoena issued just weeks ago. As the probe continues, the legal landscape for the Bad Boy CEO becomes increasingly complex, with potential implications for his personal and professional life.

As of now, both Diddy and Daphne Joy have yet to publicly respond to the latest subpoena and the ongoing investigation.

After it was revealed that Murder Inc.’s Irv Gotti suffered a stroke over six months ago, a rep for Gotti stated that the once troubled music exec was in recovery and was working on a biopic about the late Earl “DMX” Simmons. According to a recently released statement from DMX’s first wife Tashera Simmons who says that neither her or any of X’s family have been working with Gotti on any project about DMX.

The statement from Tashera and the Simmons family reads, “In light of recent speculation, the family of Earl Simmons, professionally known as Hip-Hop rap artist DMX, wish to confirm that we are not collaborating with Irv Gotti, nor have we agreed to partner with him on any content related to Earl, including a biopic.”

The statement continues, “DMX is an iconic figure in the music industry, and his life and legacy hold great significance. As we consider potential projects related to his story, we commit to ensuring they are treated with the utmost respect and integrity.”

It concludes, “We appreciate the continued support and interest from fans and the public. We will share any official announcements about future projects through our official channels. The Simmons Family”

Today In Hip Hop History: Fat Joe Dropped His Third LP ‘Don Cartagena’ 26 Years Ago

On this date in 1998, Terror Squad general Fat Joe released his third full length album Don Cartagena on the Atlantic/Big Beat/Terror Squad imprint.

On his first “official” release of Terror Squad as a crew and label, Fat Joe garnered the support from his then TS crew Armageddon, Triple Seis, Cuban Link and new recruit standout Big Punisher to pull together a superstar-laden album that would catapult TS to an equal level of success. With Pun’s almost overnight stardom from the smash single “Still Not A Player”, it gave Joe the leeway to bring in the rest of the crew sans Remy Ma, who was in Bedford Hill Correctional Facility. Singles such as “Bet Ya Man Can’t (Triz)” and “The Hidden Hand” left fans looking for that Terror Squad album with the original cast members, but internal strife only allowed those tracks to bring those thoughts into fruition. The real album feature was of course the Ski-produced “John Blaze”, which featured Nas, Jadakiss, Raekwon and Pun, is still considered one of the greatest joint tracks ever laid.

The album’s commercial success reflected the response from the fans, being Joe’s first top ten Billboard 200 release, grabbing a A- from EW and selling 100,000 in its first week was right in line of the thinking of The Don. Within a month, Don Cartagena was certified gold by the RIAA.

One fan wrote, “You know what will never sit right with me? Wanya Morris having 6 kids with that lady, naming them all after him, then he leaving her to marry that white lady.
