Floyd Mayweather Shows Love For NBA YoungBoy

Floyd Mayweather has opened up about the positive relationship he has with NBA YoungBoy. “Me and NBA YoungBoy speak on a regular, speak on the daily. I’m very happy for his career, proud of him. And eventually, he’s gonna grow like anybody that’s young. When I was young, I visualized and seen things a certain way. But as you get older, you look at things totally different. We talk about investments and just growth. Buying land,” Mayweather told The Pivot Podcast.

Furthermore, it’s not the first time that Mayweather has spoken positively about the father of his grandchild. “I’m proud of him — a very, very talented young kid. One of the biggest artists as far as in music. He’s got a cult-like following. I look at him just like one of my sons. I only want the best for him. I don’t want him to have beef with anyone. These kids beefing nowadays and don’t even know what they beefing for. So much talent. See what happens to these young kids, they dying on the regular — Pop Smoke. Just so many young rappers and young entertainers, period. I feel like NBA YoungBoy went away for a while — I like to say went to college for a little bit — but he’s back and I’m proud of him,” Mayweather told the podcast in 2022.

Floyd Mayweather Receives “Champion Of Israel” Award

Meanwhile, late last year, Mayweather received the “Champion of Israel” Award for his contribution to Israeli relief efforts following an incursion into southern Israel by Hamas on October 7. The award, presented to Mayweather at a ceremony in Miami, was backed by Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency service. The ceremony also served as a fundraising, with over $4 million reportedly raised to further Israeli relief efforts. Mayweather received the award from two close friends who have worked with him on his efforts to help Israel.

Mayweather’s primary contribution to the state of Israel was a supply drop made by his private jet. In mid-October, Mayweather’s jet brought 5000 lbs of supplies to Israel, carrying everything from food to flak jackets. Furthermore, Mayweather has been vocally supportive of Israel on social media and participated in several pro-Israel marches in the United States.

Are Baby Keem And Kendrick Lamar Related?

People are wondering if Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem are related. Kendrick Lamar is one of the biggest names in the music world. People who don’t listen to rap know who he is. People that dismissive of most current rap approve of him. Whenever the greatest rappers of all time are discussed, they bring his name up. For many people, he is the epitome of what it means to be an artist – not just a rapper. Many audiences universally celebrated and acclaimed him. His album, To Pimp A Butterfly, has been praised by many for its innovation. His most recent album, Mr. Morale and The Big Steppers, has been praised for its vulnerability. Kendrick has done multiple collaborations throughout his career. Overall, one of the most prominent ones was with Baby Keem.

Baby Keem is a rapper from California. He built a buzz for himself around singles before dropping a full length project. The cover art for his singles became instantly recognizable. One of the first ones he released was called “FRANCE FREESTYLE”. The cover art for this single looked like a dark blue paint swatch. Many people saw this as aesthetically pleasing. He used the same template for a single called “ORANGE SODA”. But, this time used an orange paint swatch. He continued this for three more singles. Often, he could simply post the artwork and people would know it meant a new single was coming. However, his single titled “family ties” departed from that format. It featured a family photo with almost all the members’ eyes covered by a black bar. This was the artwork for his single with Kendrick Lamar.

They Have Made Music Together

Baby Keem’s most recent project is titled The Melodic Blue. One of the singles for it was a song called “family ties”. Before the song was released, there was quite a buzz surrounding it. For many people, the interest in it came from the Kendrick Lamar feature. Before this point, Kendrick had not dropped a project since DAMN. in 2017. Within the video for the song, there was someone holding a pgLang flag behind Kendrick. PgLang is the collective that Kendrick Lamar started with Dave Free. Before this, Kendrick had only released a teaser advertisement for it. Many listeners were not sure exactly what it was. However, they did know it could be seen in the copyright information during the title card in the song’s music video. The fact these two artists had a song together was very exciting for listeners.

There was another song on The Melodic Blue that had a lot of people talking. This song was called “range brothers”. This was another song on the album that had a Kendrick Lamar feature on it. A portion of Kendrick’s verse leaked before the album was released. Song leaks are not uncommon these days. In fact, there are some places that specialize in finding and sharing them. The portion of Kendrick’s verse that leaked confused many listeners. Out of context, it seemed very odd and yet humorous. People were parodying it quickly and discussing what its purpose could be. Others concluded it was someone doing an impression of him. Once the song was officially released, listeners learned it was real and the entire verse was unique. Still, the memes and parodies of it continued.

Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar Know Each Other

Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar are related. In fact, they are cousins. But, many people did not become aware of this until recently. Kendrick Lamar is older than Baby Keem and put out music before he did. However, the two of them have been working together for years. In fact, one of their earliest connections is on the song “Redemption Interlude” from the Kendrick Lamar and TDE helmed Black Panther Soundtrack. Baby Keem, who is credited by his government name Hykeem Carter, has production and writing credits on the song. Baby Keem did not use his connection to Kendrick to jumpstart his music career. In fact, he produced for other TDE artists like ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock before officially making a song with Kendrick.

Many people have tried to decipher how far back Kendrick and Baby Keem’s relationship goes. The cover art for “family ties” presents them with a very clear indicator. In it, Kendrick can be seen looking very young and Baby Keem looks even younger. This shows that they were truly around each other back in the day. In an even stronger confirmation, Baby Keem refers to Kendrick as “Man-Man” in his “family ties” verse. Kendrick’s family members were the only people who called him that. To see where they are now is a success story for both of them. Also, it’s even more impactful that Baby Keem is signed to Kendrick Lamar’s label, pgLang. The two of them have stuck by each other to the point that they have both made waves in the music world together and separately.

Benedict Cumberbatch & His Family May Have To Pay For Their Ancestor’s Role In Slavery

Benedict Cumberbatch has previously acknowledged that part of his family’s past includes slave ownership.

It now appears as though the actor and his family may actually have to pay for their role in slavery.

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, the 46-year-old’s seventh great-grandfather is responsible for purchasing a plantation in 1728. The report alleges that the Cleland plantation was active for more than 100 years. Furthermore, it reportedly had 250 slaves on the property.

The sugar plantation is located in Barbados. The country is currently in the process of looking for reparations from families whose ancestors were slave owners. Evidently, this includes the Cumberbatch’s.

Slavery was abolished nearly 200 years ago, in the 1830s. The reason that the country is seeking these payments is because the families who are responsible for owning slaves were given large payments upon the abolition. “When the plantation was forced to close his family were given £6,000 in compensation – in today’s money that’s £3.6 million,” writes journalist Lorraine King in a tweet.

The Decision

Whether the Dr. Strange actor’s family will be responsible for paying up or not is still unknown. It will be up to a challenge that the country is currently awaiting in court. Barbados is asking Richard Dax, the inheritor of the country’s largest plantation, Drax Hall, to hand over his family’s land.

If he refuses to do so, an international arbitration court will decide whether or not the British Parliament member will be responsible for paying reparations. If it comes to this and the decision is yes, the country will reportedly move forward with seeking payments from other past slave owners. Of course, this will include the Cumberbatch family.

Kendrick Lamar Surprised Fans At Coachella By Joining Baby Keem To Perform ‘Family Ties’ And ‘Vent’

Kendrick Lamar has been stepping out a bit more as of late and it comes after he said his fifth album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is finally on the way. The public appearances for the typically-secluded rapper began earlier this year when he joined Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and more to perform at the Super bowl LVI Halftime Show. More recently, Lamar was spotted at a Los Angeles Dodgers game against the Atlanta Braves earlier this week casually sitting with fellow fans in right-field rather than in a press box. For his next act, Kendrick brought his talents to the second weekend of Coachella’s 2022 Festival.

On Friday night, Kendrick made a surprise appearance at Coachella by joining Baby Keem to perform “Family Ties” and “Vent,” both of which are from Keem’s 2021 debut album The Melodic Blue. The latter track also became Keem’s first and Kendrick’s 14th Grammy Award after it won in the Best Rap Performance category earlier this month. During their Coachella set, Baby Keem performed the first half of “Family Ties” before he welcomed Kendrick to perform his verse in front of a large video screen that displayed fire and water. Kendrick’s surprise appearance concluded with their first-ever performance of “Vent.”

Kendrick’s Coachella appearance comes after he confirmed his fifth album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers would arrive on May 13. It’s one of this year’s most highly-anticipated projects as it’s the rapper’s first album since 2017’s DAMN.

Baby Keem Faces Down His ‘Issues’ In The Latest Video From His New Album, ‘The Melodic Blue’

More than two years removed from his last project, Baby Keem has arrived with a new body of work for his growing cast of supporters to enjoy. The Melodic Blue is out now and it comes with a small, yet star-filled cast of guest acts. Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver each stand beside Keem at various points on the album, with Lamar marking the most appearances on the 16-track project. The new album arrives after Keem stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to debut “Issues,” while he follows up with a desolate video with a similar setting.

In addition to “Family Ties,” a previously-released single that ramped up anticipation for The Melodic Blue and Kendrick’s own upcoming fifth album, the TDE rapper also connects with Keem on “Range Brothers” and “Vent.”

“Range Brothers” arrives as a two-part track that begins with Keem delivering laid-back raps over bass-heavy production. Things take an odd and chaotic turn in the second half as Lamar arrives join Keem as they deliver off-kilter bars that, if anything, sound more like a troll as Lamar checks in and repeatedly chants “top of the morning.” As for “Vent,” that collaboration between Lamar and Keem is quite the bashful single as the duo combines their energies for a mosh pit-friendly track.

You can watch the “Issues” video and listen to Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s additional collaborations in the videos above.

Baby Keem And Kendrick Lamar Show Off The Strength Of Their ‘Family Ties’ With A Chaotic Video

For those of you who might have been unaware, Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem are cousins, and while it wasn’t exactly a promoted fact between the two rappers, the duo made it clear with the announcement of their first collaboration. They announced a new single, “Family Ties” earlier this week, and as promised, the track has arrived and it comes with a brand new visual laced with a cameo from Normani. The video is quite the chaotic effort as it features everything from a shootout, Kendrick Lamar passionately dancing, and fairly good amount of twerking.

The track is the latest single from Baby Keem’s upcoming album, The Melodic Blue. The Vegas-bred act announced the title for the project earlier this year and it’s a full-length release that will include previously-released singles “No Sense,” “Durag Activity” with Travis Scott, and “Hooligan.” Hopefully, Keem’s collaboration with Kendrick signals that The Melodic Blue is closer to arrival than some may expect.

“Family Ties” also marks the first musical release of any kind for Kendrick Lamar in 2021. The track hopefully makes a return for the Good Kid, M.a.a.d City, but there is an end of sorts for him in the near future. Last week, Lamar announced that his upcoming fifth album would be his last with Top Dawg Entertainment, a label he’s called him since 2005. “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” he wrote in a letter to fans. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.”
