Skilla Baby To Host Firearm Buy Back Event In Detroit To Combat Gun Violence

Skilla Baby is part of an event this Saturday (February 24) at The Icon in Detroit that is an incredible initiative from a visible entertainment figure. Moreover, he partnered with the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence to host a gun buy back event for folks to receive hundreds of dollars for ridding themselves of their firearms. Not only that, but the “Plate” rapper also worked with local city officials to put this together. The event will also host a job fair for folks with a felony history, record expungement services (with applications here), and driver’s license restoration reviews.

“This Saturday I partnered with Judge Yancey And council President Sheffield to do a Gun Buy Back / Job Fair/ Record Expungement…” Skilla Baby captioned an Instagram post announcing the event. “THIS WILL NOT BE THE LAST ONE EITHER WE WILL TRY TO GET AS MANY GUNS OFF THE STREETS AND CLEAN AS MANY RECORDS AS POSSIBLE EVERY YEAR IF ITS UP TO ME…. “We know the power of joining forces with a city, with influencers, with these icons,” Hannah Jones of the Brady Center told the Detroit Free Press of Skilla Baby’s efforts. “That’s how we got together. But it started with his vision, and he knew, and his folks knew, that we focused on safe storage.” “I know with my influence, I can urge people to clean their records, get jobs and get guns off the street,” the “Morant” lyricist added. “In the future, I want to do gun safety classes, fun stuff like that.”

While being a rapper brings a lot of fun perks, like walking Devin Haney out for a fight, it also brings responsibilities. It’s great to see folks recognizing their influence, their leadership potential, and using that to help those in less fortunate situations. Moneybagg Yo recently found out the hard way that, when you’re in a public setting, you always have to be prepared for the worst. While this specific case isn’t too wild, it did make for a pretty bizarre and almost comical moment, if it wasn’t for the circumstances. Moreover, it centers around a recent clip that surfaced online of someone greeting him at a bottle signing event in Las Vegas. After the rapper signed a bottle for the person recording, it turns out that they were actually a prompter. They gave him paperwork for a lawsuit against him and walked away, and Ari Fletcher’s husband had an incredulous look on his face.

Furthermore, he probably did not expect to receive paperwork on this occasion, especially from someone who went to get a signed bottle. Regardless, these papers allegedly focus on the Loaf Boyz executive‘s supposed failure to repay a no-show back in 2021. Since we don’t have any further details about the lawsuit, we can assume that the plaintiff wanted to resolve this in a more private manner with Moneybagg Yo. Otherwise, we would’ve already heard about it from another source, rather than this shy prompter who ironically created the more interesting story.

Unfortunately for the Memphis MC, it looks like this no-show is a bit of a common trend in his career. Well, not the no-show specifically, but rather a general streak of bad luck when it comes to not being able to perform. For example, back in September, organizers suddenly canceled his hometown concert at the FedEx Forum arena, which Moneybagg Yo was not happy with at all. He expressed disappointment in not being able to put on for his city.

Benny The Butcher Builds Butcherfest Boxing Event

Many stars love the sport of boxing (think the Paul brothers). Now, Benny the Butcher is getting in on the trend. The inaugural boxing event “Butcherfest” is going down on July 1st. Featuring UFC fighters Jordan Griffin and Brok Weaver as the main event, Benny the Butcher will turn into Benny the Boxer as he gets into the ring himself. The event is in Irving, NY. Benny said the event is to celebrate the summer and to bring the community together for fun.

“We havin’ the Biggest Fight event JULY 1st you gonna wanna be at,” a post on Benny’s Instagram reads. “Multiple fights, amateur and Professional, Vendors & performance by The Butcher.” He already conducted the faceoff on June 20th, further legitimizing this event as a true boxing spectacle. Benny wants to be taken seriously in the boxing sphere, and this is a solid first step. “I just want people to come and support these fighters they got the heart to come out there and do that,” Benny said to 2 On Your Side, a local news outlet.

The rapper celebrated the new limited-edition Lime Whipshots flavor in a bright, colorful, and curve-hugging catsuit. A kickoff event yesterday at The Bungalow in Santa Monica saw Cardi turning heads in the bold ensemble. She was also joined by drag performers Violet Chachki and Gottmik at the kickoff. Cardi B’s venture with Starco Brands also premiered a new summer campaign at the event, featuring the rapper. Dubbed “Whip It, Beaches,” the campaign’s advertisements feature photos of Cardi wearing only a whipped cream bikini and some summer shades.

The rapper and businesswoman paired the bright, geometric Emilio Pucci jumpsuit with a big pair of signature gold hoops, and coordinating colorful sky-high platform heels. She decorated the look with a gold thong body chain and a matching colorful hair accessory. Cardi also rocked a blunt bang and neutral, glowy makeup. The jumpsuit she wore is from Pucci’s spring 2023 collection, which is described by WWD as “Pucci’s motifs infused with a ’60s Space-Age vibe.”

She revealed a new, bright red hairstyle to her Instagram followers, which she complimented with matching red pants and a simple, white cropped t-shirt.
