Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has opened up about his history with depressing. During a visit to The Pivot podcast promoting the XFL Championship, The Rock recalled his state earlier in life, but not knowing what mental health was.
“I left school, but the interesting thing at the time is, I didn’t know what mental health was. I didn’t know what depression was. I just knew I didn’t want to be there,” Johnson said, speaking of his time at University of Miami.
The Rock also stated he encountered depression after his divorce from his wife, and now business partner, Dany Garcia in 2008. “I knew what it was at that time and luckily I had some friends that I could lean on and say, ‘Hey I’m feeling a little wobbly now. I got a little struggle happening.”
He would add how men normally keep a “head down” and work mentality, which isn’t always healthy.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods was an anticipated release from Warner Bros. and DC Comics, and it was clear the film was slated for blockbuster appeal. The newest Shazam‘s budget was $110 million, with a reported additional $100 million spent on marketing. However, it only pulled in just over $30 million at the box office. Many critics are pointing the finger at Dwayne Johnson.
Johnson starred as Black Adam in his separate film, and following that release, the former wrestling star seemed uninterested in jumping back into the superhero arena. He refused to reprise Black Adam for Shazam, a move that left many fans irked. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a 2019 action film directed by David Leitch. The movie stars Johnson as Luke Hobbs, a federal agent, and Hart also appears in a small role as the air marshal Dinkley. The movie follows the story of Hobbs and Shaw (Jason Stamos), who must team up to stop a dangerous virus from falling into the hands of a cyber-genetically enhanced terrorist.
Hart’s appearance as Dinkley was short, but he produced some of the movie’s funnier lines. Hart’s chemistry with Johnson adds an extra layer of humor to their scenes. Additionally, their interactions are some of the most memorable parts of the movie.

In DC League of Super-Pets, Krypto (voiced by Johnson), Superman’s loyal canine companion, teams up with Ace (voiced by Hart), Batman’s trusty hound, to form a league of super-powered pets. Together, they must stop a group of villains led by Lex Luthor from taking over the world.
This is the most recent film the two have worked on together. Critics noted that the chemistry between Johnson and Hart was a film highlight. Their dynamic translates well into animated roles, with Hart’s high-pitched voice as Ace playing off Johnson’s deep baritone as Krypto.

The new owner comes in and says, ‘Not my coach, not my quarterback. I’m going to go with somebody new.’” Johnson was asked about the next superhero role he would tackle. He didn’t seem enthusiastic about suiting up to save the world. “I’m good for now,” he answered.

Johnson further explained that he’s in “day one mode,” advising his fans to follow suit.
“What is that thing that we wanted to accomplish … that thing that has been gnawing at your gut?” he continued, before adding, “That thing that you think you have some passion about … this is day one.”
