Draymond Green Suspended “Indefinitely” After Latest Ejection

Draymond Green has been “suspended indefinitely” by the NBA after being ejected against the Suns earlier this week. Per the NBA’s statement on the decision, the suspension “takes into account Green’s repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.” Furthermore, “He will be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play,” the league added. Green received his 18th career ejection, and third of the season, for striking the Suns’ Jusuf Nurkić in the face with a spinning backhand early in the third quarter of Tuesday’s game.

While Green did apologize for the incident, the NBA has chosen to come down hard on the veteran. The Warriors will meet with Green and his agent, Rich Paul, to devise a rehabilitative program to help Green return to the court. Furthermore, a source told ESPN that the Warriors had “lost their leverage for disciplining” Green after not adequately punishing him after he punched Jordan Poole last season. However, sources also told the outlet that Green is open to getting “whatever help he needs” to “overcome the challenges he is facing.”

What Does Draymond Green’s “Indefinite Suspension” Mean?

In short, Green will not play for the Warriors until the NBA says he can. This is different from a more standard suspension, which is served over a set number of games. Case in point, Green was suspended for five games after placing Rudy Gobert in a chokehold last month. Additionally, Green’s salary will be docked $153,941 per game that he misses. However, this increases to $202,922 per game after his 20th missed game.

Neither Green nor the Warriors have released a statement about the suspension. However, head coach Steve Kerr did criticize Green for his actions following the ejection. “We need him. We need Draymond. He knows that. We’ve talked to him. He’s got to find a way to keep his poise and be out there for his teammates,” Kerr said. The Warriors have said they will address the suspension at a shootaround ahead of their game against the Clippers tonight.

Draymond Green Ejected After Hitting Suns Player In The Head

Draymond Green received his third ejection of the season after striking Jusuf Nurkic in the head during a defensive possession. Green received a flagrant 2 early in the third quarter and later apologized to Nurkic for the unintentional contact. “I am not one to apologize for things I mean to do, but I do apologize to Jusuf because I didn’t intend to hit him. I sell calls with my arms, so I was selling the call and I swung and unfortunately, I hit him. “You guys have known me long enough, if I intended to do something, I am not apologizing. But I did make contact with him, so I do apologize. It’s a hard hit,” Green said after the game.

Despite only having played in 15 games this season, Green has already tied his career high for single-season ejections. He was previously ejected for a pair of technical fouls on November 11 and for putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold on November 14. Green served a five-game suspension for the latter incident. The league is expected to launch a conduct review on Green after this latest incident.

Jokic Ejected For Swearing At Ref

However, Green wasn’t the only player booted from a game last night. In Chicago, Nikola Jokic was ejected from the Nuggets’ game against the Bulls for swearing at a referee. “Call the foul, motherf-cker!” Jokic yelled at ref Mousa Dagher. As a result, Jokic became a recipient of the rare one-tech ejection. “Jokic was ejected after one technical foul because he directed profane language at the official that by our standards warranted an ejection,” crew chief Mark Lindsay explained after the game.

While Jokic acknowledged that he crossed a line, the Nuggets expressed their surprise at the ejection. “Sometimes it’s not even a technical. I crossed the line, I understand, but sometimes that word doesn’t cross the line. It is what it is,” Jokic said. “I think everybody was surprised it was a one-tech toss. Again, I didn’t hear exactly what was said. Unfortunate, but we won the game and that’s all that matters,” added Nuggets head coach Mark Malone.

Draymond Green was once again ejected from a game for a dirty play. During Tuesday night’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns, Green was ejected in the third quarter after a swinging backhand to Suns center Jusuf Nurkic.

After a stoppage in play, the swing was categorized a Flagrant 2, which registers an automatic ejection. Green is now expected to face another suspension. Green spoke to the media and apologized after the game.

Draymond Green Believes The NBA Needs To Go Easy On Him

Draymond Green is a player who habitually steps over the line. Although he believes he is never wrong, it turns out that he is wrong a lot, actually. Overall, he has been suspended for numerous offenses throughout his time in the league. However, he very rarely takes responsibility for his own actions. Instead, he will blame the league for being soft. Or, he will just say that he was well within his rights to put a guy in a chokehold. His latest victim of that was Rudy Gobert.

After choking Rudy Gobert during a game, Green got about five games. It was a fairly harsh sentence, however, he is a repeat offender. When you have already done this kind of thing before, the consequences can follow you. When the league gives you a punishment, they look at your track record. If the track record is poor, well, you can expect a punishment that reflects that. While speaking to reporter Shayna Rubin, Green completely rejected that premise.

“To continue saying, ‘oh, what he did in the past..’ I paid for those. I got suspended for Game 5 of the Finals. So you can’t keep suspending me for those actions,” Green said. “They’ve made it clear that they are going to hold everything against me that I’ve done before. That’s OK. I need to adjust where I see fit. Where my teammates see fit, where my coaches see fit, front office sees fit.” Once again, Green believes he deserves some kind of pass. It speaks to the Warriors and the mentality they have had during their run. There is a sense of entitlement that just doesn’t work when you’re out there kicking people in the nuts and laying hands on guys.

Cast member Devon Walker donned a graying beard and Warriors hoodie to embody Green joining the Weekend Update desk. In the brief segment, Walker’s Green jokes about being enraged by the “7 foot baguette” that is Gobert while also addressing his history of on-court violence. “I strangle that trouble. I keep my teammates safe,” Walker argues. However, after WU host Michael Che asked about Green punching Jordan Poole, Green added Che to his “hit list”.

Deion Sanders Approves Of SNL Impression

It’s a bad look, and the five games are deserved,” Kerr said Thursday night. Green picked up the longest suspension of his career after putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold earlier in the week. Three other players, including Gobert, received $25,000 fines but no suspension. The severity of Green’s behavior, plus his history of “unsportsmanlike conduct” contributed to the length of his ban.

“I don’t have a problem with [Green] trying to get Rudy off of Klay … but he’s got to let go. He hung on for six, seven seconds.
