Drake Thanks Atira NYC For Healing His “Piece Of Shit Ankle” Ahead Of Apollo Show

Even though he delivered two impressive albums – Honestly, Nevermind and Her Loss – in 2022, live performances from Drake have been few and far between as of late. The father of one had one of the biggest performances of his career scheduled for the Apollo late last year. Ultimately, he postponed in wake of Takeoff’s tragic death.

As fate would have it, the rescheduled concerts were later changed once again, this time due to “production delays.” Some were worried we would see another cancellation. However, Drizzy himself confirmed that he’ll be performing this weekend in a recent Instagram post.

On Thursday (January 19), the Toronto native dropped off a photo dump on his feed, beginning with a candid snapshot of him rocking a YSL sweater. “Thank you Atria NY for the best health care experience I have ever had,” he wrote in the caption.

The following photos show the treatment facility where Drake was receiving medical treatment for an injury. “Let’s see what I can do on this piece of shit ankle Saturday,” he added, seemingly promising an exciting show coming our way.

In the comment section, friends of the rapper’s couldn’t help but poke fun at his feet. “Showww dat lil bunyonnn!!!” Odell Beckham Jr. teased. “Big ankle ahhhh.”

Michael Rubin also chimed in, doubling down on Drake’s praise of Atria. “There is nothing better,” he agreed. “Now if only Alan can bring us good luck in the casinos, he’ll really be the best!!”

Aside from his unfortunate injury, things have been going well for the 36-year-old as of late. He recently welcomed the first female artist, Naomi Sharon to his OVO Sound label with the arrival of her “Celestial” and “Another Life” singles.

Additionally, Champagne Papi shared a music video for his “Jumbotron Shit Poppin” track earlier this week. Central Cee, Mike Tyson, and Lil Baby all appear in the clip that sees the Canadian wearing over $3.3M in jewelry.

Will you be attending either of Drake’s upcoming shows at the Apollo Theatre? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Drake’s OVO Sound Record Label Lands Its First Lady With Alternative R&B Singer Naomi Sharon

Despite his supposed ‘Regina George’ complex, rapper Drake has no problem using his platform to showcase newer acts. In fact, by way of his label, OVO Sound, co-founded by his long-time collaborator producer Noah’ 40’ Shebib, the pair are looking to break yet another artist. With a roster consisting of PARTYNEXTDOOR, dvsn, Popcaan, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, and Baka Not Nice, the label has finally found its leading lady.

With the release of her new single, “Another Life,” Dutch-Caribbean singer Naomi Sharon becomes the first lady of OVO Sound. Drake took to Instagram to welcome her to the label and share her new track with his following with the caption, “Naomi Sharon, I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met. My dear friend just dropped her single Another Life on OVO Sound.”

To which Naomi commented, “I will be forever thankful for this insane opportunity you gave me. Finally, we can share this with the world. Big love.”

The warm welcome didn’t stop there as Shebib also took to his Instagram, writing, “Naomi Sharon, I’m honoured to be a part of this journey. I’m so proud of you and can’t wait for the world to hear the rest of what you’ve been working on.”

“Another Life” is a beautifully intrinsic blend of electronic dance music, and alt-R&B. Dance-influenced music dominated the 2022 charts as seen in the success of Beyoncé’s Renaissance, Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind, and Lizzo’s Special albums. Naomi is undoubtedly starting on the right track.

Drake Announces New OVO Sound Artist, Naomi Sharon

Drake welcomed OVO Sound’s latest signee to the roster this morning, Dutch/Caribbean singer Naomi Sharon.

Sharon made her debut on OVO Sound this morning with the release of two new singles, “Celestial” and “Another Life.” Both songs boast contributions from Noah “40” Shebib. He co-produced the latter alongside Alex Lustig, Beau Nox, and Rampa, and produced “Celestial.” Sharon is now the first woman signed to the Drake-backed label.

Drizzy hit Instagram to celebrate the release. The rapper confirmed Naomi Sharon as the latest to join the OVO roster.

“@naomisharon I been waiting for this day for too long now where the world finally gets to digest the insane amount of work you have put in since we met,” he wrote. “My dear friend just dropped her single Another Life on OVO SOUND.”

Sharon later responded on her Instagram Story, writing, “Words cannot express how happy I am I can finally share this news with the world. And I cannot thank you enough for this insane opportunity.”

OVO 40 similarly expressed his excitement for Sharon’s debut.

“@naomisharon I’m honoured to be a part of this journey. Im so proud of you and can’t wait for the world to hear the rest of what you’ve been working on. New music out NOW! @ovosound,” he wrote.

Sharon’s new singles mark her first release since 2021. She previously gained steam with singles like “Hills,” “Daughter Of The Sun,” and “1991.” No word on when her debut project on the label will drop but hopefully, it’s sometime this year.

Metro Boomin Explains Why Drake’s “Trance” Verse Didn’t Make “Heroes & Villains”

Just as Drake’s leaked verse on “Trance” circulates online, Metro Boomin explained why the version didn’t make the final cut of his new album.

Metro Boomin recently sat down with DJ Drama on Streetz Is Watchin Radio where he addressed the recent leak. Metro explained that the song, which features Travis Scott and Young Thug, was already complete by the time Drake heard it. However, Metro liked how the Heroes & Villains song turned out already but Drake still wanted to record a verse.

“I was in the studio with Drake one time because we were gonna do some stuff for my album. He just wanted to hear some songs from my album, and then he heard that one,” Metro revealed.

Drake was persistent to jump on the song and ended up recording something for it. However, he told Metro that he wouldn’t take it personally if it didn’t make the final cut. He explained he completed the song and had no intentions to alter it.

“I was really just set on how it was. I was like, ‘Bro, I ain’t trying to sell you no dream. I’m locked in where it was,’” Metro recalled. “[Drake] had hit me and was just like, ‘Let me see if there’s anything you could add to it.’ He was like, ‘If you don’t like it, then whatever.’”

“He did some stuff, a couple parts was cool but like I just felt like just even with like Slime verse and Trav verse and the outro, it wasn’t just no room,” he continued. “It wasn’t nothing personal… I just ended up using the original and I guess the other one just leaked or something.”

DJ Khaled previously suggested that no one in the music industry ever criticizes Drake. DJ Drama asked Metro if he was the first person to turn down a verse from The Boy.

There had to be somebody else. Come on, don’t make me the first,” Metro said with a laugh.

Though Drake didn’t land on Heroes & Villains, Metro Boomin landed credits on Her Loss. The Boominati producer contributed to the single, “More M’s.” Hopefully, we hear more music from Metro Boomin and Drake in the future. If it happens, we suspect it’ll come in the form of a collaboration on Future and Metro’s upcoming joint effort. Future recently confirmed it would drop this year so we’ll provide updates on the project.

Drake’s Latest Flex Involves Spilling The Secret Behind Public Restrooms

In a new post on his Instagram Story, Drake says he’s going to “use 2023 to tell my truths.” While that could almost certainly set fans rubbing their mitts for life lessons and financial advice that can launch them to the Toronto titan’s tax bracket, as it turns out, his observations may end up being a bit more mundane.

In the same post, he reveals one of those truths — which involves public restrooms. “I have seen more staff and private bathrooms than anybody ever,” he quasi-brags. “Whenever you are waiting in line to use the bathroom just know there’s an amazing clean private room that they refuse to show you.”

That… actually seems like pretty sound advice, actually. Why poop with the plebs when you could be using your bathroom breaks to really relax in comfort and privacy? This has been a running gag on a number of sitcoms, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Seinfeld, and Abbott Elementary, so maybe Drake’s onto something.

Drake, who is riding the high from his and 21 Savage’s surprise joint album Her Loss, certainly knows a thing or two about treating yo’self — and embracing the sillier side of life. He was recently seen sporting some pieces from his hero Pharrell’s old jewelry collection and ahead of the new year proved he didn’t mind the “sassy Drake” memes that spawned from his Her Loss ad-libs.

What Did Drake Buy From Pharrell’s Jewelry Collection?

Drake is no stranger when it comes to living in the lap of luxury. So it’s not surprising that in his new video for a track titled “Jumbotron Sh*t Poppin,” he wanted to bring fans into his world of opulence — dazzling diamonds, beautiful women, and fast cars. Throughout the video, the Candian crooner can be seen sporting several different (and costly) pieces of jewelry. But where does one purchase such precious stones?

Drake loves having exclusive items, so it would make sense that he would sport jewelry formerly owned by Pharrell Williams, who is known for his eccentric style and taste. This past October, the NERD producer hosted an online auction in which he sold off his personal jewelry and other items.

In the video, Drake was spotted with three pieces of jewelry, including “a 14K three-tone N.E.R.D pendant chain ($2,184,000), a white gold brain pendant chain ($725,000), and a skateboard pendant chain ($103,750),” HipHopDX estimates. In total, the rapper allegedly spent over $3 million to acquire the jewelry.

Drake’s long-running musical success not only continues to fill his love of expensive things but also allows him to afford them. Her Loss debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart after its release, moving roughly over $400k album-equivalent units in its first week. Since then, the album has surpassed over one million sales in the U.S. and over a billion streams on Spotify.
