Drake’s Security Guard Reportedly Refused And Kicked Subpoena For XXXTentacion Murder Case

Drake

The defense attorney in the XXXTentacion murder case revealed yesterday that one of Drake’s armed security guards confronted a process server sent to deliver a subpoena to the rapper. The guard would end up refusing the subpoena and kicking it down a driveway back to the server.

According to the Miami Herald, Mauricio Padilla, the lawyer for Dedrick Williams, one of the men on trial for murdering XXXTentacion, issued a subpoena for Drake to deliver a deposition later this month. Padilla stated that when the server tried to give the subpoena to Drake at his Beverly Hills home on Valentine’s Day, he was confronted by Drake’s security guards to refuse the subpoena.

In the transcript of Padilla’s account, the security guards are telling the server that the home is a private residence and telling him to get off the property. When the server says that Drake is being served, the security responds, saying, “no one is being served.” The server even says at the end that he likes Drake.

Drake is being called to the trial due to his beef with XXXTentacion. In 2018, the late Florida artist posted on his IG story that if he were killed then Drake would be behind the murder. “IF ANYONE TRIES TO KILL ME IT WAS @champagnepapi IM snitching RN,” XXX wrote four months before his death.

Drake’s Security Sternly Warns Process Server In XXXTENTACION Murder Trial: Transcript

The trial surrounding the men accused of murdering XXXTENTACION began this month. However, a defense attorney for one of the defendants has desperately tried to get a deposition out of Drake. The feud between the two rappers became a main force in the defense’s argument during the beginning stages of the trial. The defense, Mauricio Padilla, argued that the Canadian rapper had a hand in the Broward County rapper’s death. His attorney has fought the motion, leading to a back-and-forth in court. And while Padilla feels as though this is helping his client’s case, most feel as though it’s an outrageous strategy.

Most recently, reports emerged of Drake’s security guards blocking a subpoena. Padilla filed a motion detailing the encounter with his armed guards on Valentine’s Day at his California residence. “After having the gate shut in his face, the process server posted the subpoena, only to have one of Mr. Graham’s security staff literally kick the subpoena down the lone driveway… Security is heard saying that ‘no one is being served here,” the motion read. “Apparently, Drake’s staff believe that physically kicking the subpoena is a legally sound way of refusing service.”

Transcripts Surface Of Drake’s Security Vs. Process Server: “By the way, I like Drake.”

In the transcripts obtained by Cathy Russon of Law & Crime Network, the security shut down the process servers attempt to hand over the subpoena. “We are not obligated to do anything or accept any, please get off of property,” the security told the server, who then asked him for his name. After refusing to identify himself, the server stated that its only for a “virtual deposition.” “It is not even like a lawsuit bro,” the server said.

Eventually, the two servers said that were going to “drop it.” However, security said they couldn’t accept legal paperwork. “I am not authorized to accept anything,” the security added. At that point, process server #2 pushed security further to accept the documents. “Aubrey AKA Drake, you are being served,” the process server said before the second one added, “By the way, I like Drake. Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow Reach Major Milestone With ‘Industry Baby’, Surpassing Drake and Future

Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby” has proven itself quite a success. The pair’s 2021 single is now the most streamed song in the 2020s, dethroning Drake and Future’s 2020 smash hit “Life is Good.” The track, which appeared on Lil Nas’s debut album, Montero, debuted at No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 before finally reaching the top spot a few months later and earning the duo a Grammy nomination for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

.@LilNasX and @jackharlow’s “INDUSTRY BABY” is now the #1 most on-demand streamed song released in the 2020s in the US, surpassing @1future and @Drake’s “Life Is Good,” Chart Data reported.

Don’t worry, though, Drake’s commercial success isn’t ending anytime soon. Earlier this month, the Toronto rap star surpassed 75 billion streams on Spotify— he’s the first artist in the streaming platform’s history. The “Rich Flex” rapper also won big at the 2023 Grammys despite not submitting any music, earning himself four nominations, including one for best melodic rap performance, that he won for his guest appearance on Future’s No.1 hit, “Wait for U,” which also features vocals from Nigerian singer Tems. The chart-topping single appears on Future’s album, I Never Liked You.

In 2019, Drake was named one of the most streamed artists of the decade, alongside other commercial juggernauts like Eminem and Ed Sheeran. It seems like no matter what he does, Drake can’t stop winning.

Jack Harlow is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Drake Hits Lil Uzi Vert’s Dance In Hilarious “Reverse Curse” Promo For Stake

The Drake curse is alive and well, it seems. Over the years, the phenomenon has taken a grip on the sports world. Some fans and teams believe that meeting Drake around game time can result in a loss. Take the World Cup, for example. Team Canada’s Alphonse Davies posted a flick of himself with the Her Loss rapper days before they were eliminated. At this point, Canadian supporters believed it to be the return of the Drake curse. However, this theory has been disproven on several instances, including over the Super Bowl weekend.

Just before the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles went head-to-head for the Lombardi, Drizzy hit the ‘Gram to reveal who he put his money on. The Canadian rapper banked nearly a million on the Chiefs, revealing his “psychotic” bets just days before the big game. Many felt as though the odds would be in Philly’s favor. In fact, the Eagles were 1.5-point favorites ahead of the Super Bowl. However, the Chiefs came out on top, proving that the Drake curse might not actually be real.

Drizzy Drake And The Tale Of The Reverse Curse

Following the Chiefs win, Drake didn’t take long to troll the Philadelphia Eagles, as well as hometown heroes Lil Uzi Vert and Meek Mill. The rapper teamed up with Stake for a skit titled Drizzy Drake And The Tale Of The Reverse Curse which follows Drake on game day. The rapper rocks an Eagles jersey while pulling of the Lil Uzi Vert dance to “I Wanna Rock” then rapping along to Meek’s “Dreams and Nightmares Intro.”

“The Reverse Curse,” Drake captioned the post along with a money face and laughing emojis. The rapper ended up winning some major loot by the end of the night last Sunday. Per Markets Insider, Drake cashed out on $512,000 in Bitcoin winnings as the Chiefs took home the trophy for the third time. The Canadian rapper evidently worked the curse in his favor and now he’s up by half a million. Check out the clip above and sound off with your thoughts on the Drake curse in the comments.

Drake & 21 Savage Settle With Vogue Over Fake Magazine Lawsuit

21 Savage Backs Drake's 'Her Loss' Lyrics: 'I'm Behind Him'

During Drake and 21 Savage’s rollout for their 2022 album Her Loss, the two decided to print out fake Vogue magazines with themselves on the cover and throughout the entire book. They even decided to sell the magazine, with many people even believing that the two actually graced the cover of Vogue. While this marketing strategy was warmly received by the two’s fans, people at Vogue thought otherwise and decided to sue the duo.

Vogue had initially asked Drake and 21 to pay $4 million to use the fake cover, and in a recent update, the duo and the highly coveted magazine company have settled the lawsuit.

According to TMZ, the lawyers for Drake and 21 met with Vogue’s parent company Condé Nast and were able to settle out of court for an undisclosed amount. As a part of the settlement, the parent company also received an injunction to prevent the commercial use of Vogue’s trademarks.

The parent company’s attorney said that the payment from Drake and 21 will “bolster our ongoing creative output, including Vogue editorial.”

Vogue was the only company to come after Drake and 21, who also made a fake Howard Stern interview and fake Saturday Night Live performance, with Michael B. Jordan introducing them, as marketing for their album.

Drake And 21 Savage Have Reportedly Settled Their Lawsuit With ‘Vogue’ Following Their Controversial Album Campaign

Drake and 21 Savage‘s promotional campaign for their 2022 collaborative album Her Loss was effective in making it one of the most talked-about albums of last year. Though, not everyone was a fan. Back in November, shortly after the release of Her Loss, Vogue sued the duo for using fake covers of the magazine to promote the album.

Today (February 16), Semafor is reporting that the rappers and the magazine have settled the lawsuit.

Drake and 21 Savage have reportedly agreed to pay magazine publisher Condé Nast as part of the settlement.

Despite the controversies attached to the album, 21 only speaks fondly of the creative process and the reception. In an interview with Complex, he revealed that he felt Her Loss helped satisfy his current fan base, while also helping him gain more fans.

“I think it put me on a broader scale,” 21 said. “It leveled me up for sure, it made me hotter for sure. But I also think that comes from me not having any music out. It’s just been straight features for two years before that sh*t happened. I think [my fans] wanted me to drop, so whatever I dropped was going to do that. People were ready to hear me rap, so I think that’s what I got from it too, it fed my fans.”
