Beyonce Saves North London Restaurant With 10k Donation

As part of her Renaissance World Tour, Beyonce pledged to donate $1 million to various businesses and yesterday she made her most recent donation. According to the Jasmine Brand, the donation went to a Nigerian restaurant in North London which was struggling to pay rising energy costs. The restaurant, Chuku’s, opener in 2020 and struggled through the pandemic like many others. Despite managing to stay open it had clearly been a struggle for the eatery. Though they survived, mounting bills left the future of the establishment in question until Beyonce herself stepped in. Not only did they get the massive donation, but also the level of exposure that comes with it.

Beyonce made a stop on her tour in Paris on Tuesday alongside husband Jay-Z. The pair were in attendance for the debut of Pharrell’s first collection as head of Menswear at Louis Vuitton. On top of the attention she got for her flashy outfit, Bey was also going viral for a different video. A cute clip of her and fellow Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland dancing perfectly in sync has gone viral in the wake of the event.

Beyonce Makes A Massive Donation

Beyonce has had a relatively quite 2023 so far musically. While she has released two songs, both of which are just remixes of tracks from her Renaissance album last year. Back in February, she released a “Wetter” version of a fan-favorite track from the album “CUFF IT.” Last month, she dropped a more substantial new remix of “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM” which featured a new verse from Kendrick Lamar. While rumors have circulated about a potential Renaissance Deluxe edition, so far nothing has materialized.

Over the weekend Beyonce played a dazzling stop on her Renaissance tour which coincided with Juneteenth. To celebrate the holiday she wore outfits made exclusively by black designers for the entire night. The only problem fans took with the move was they Bey failed to tag the designers in her post about the undertaking. What do you think of Beyonce stepping in and saving a restaurant with her donation? Let us know in the comment section below.

Rick Ross Donates $30K, Keeps Georgia Health Clinic Running

On Monday, which was coincidentally Juneteenth, rapper Rick Ross broke out the big guns and gifted a Georgia health clinic $30,000.00 to make sure their lights stayed on. The Fayette C.A.R.E. Clinic almost ran out of funds. However, with this influx of cash, they can keep things running. Seeing as Ross’s father didn’t have access to health care when he was alive, the rapper was intrinsically motivated to help out a southern health facility.

Fayette C.A.R.E. had a donation goal of $50k and was at roughly $19k before Ross stepped in. His additional $30k covered the difference and now people in Fayetteville, GA, ages 18 and over can access free care at the clinic without the staff worrying about the future. Rick Ross has done something like this in the past; back in 2020, he and Habitat for Humanity built a home for a Fayette, GA, veteran. He considers the communities of rural Georgia to be family and friends.

The 47-year-old rapper is busier than ever. Despite previous medical emergencies, drive-by shootings, and legal issues, Rick Ross is looking to the future with a political eye. He plans to run in 2024 for mayor of Fayetteville, GA, where he has a home and resides for most of the year. He also owns several Wingstop locations, considering his zest for lemon pepper chicken wings. And in April of this year, he offered Don Lemon a job after he got canned from CNN. Ross told Lemon, “For some reason, I believe you know what you doing with the lemon pepper wings. So man, just send over your résumé.”

As for music, Ross is in his featuring days. He’ll provide the odd verse or two to his best pals, like Drake, but is otherwise content with letting his track record speak for itself. He recently had a guest appearance on the FX show Dave with fellow rapper Lil Dicky, and he’s doing fun events like his Rick Ross Car Show and the upcoming Rick Ross Pool Party on July 2nd. The head honcho of Maybach Music is having fun and making a difference, all at the same time.

Michael Jordan Makes Massive Donation

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player in the history of the NBA. Overall, he helped the Chicago Bulls win six NBA titles. Moreover, he was able to finish his career with the best average points per game in league history. While many are talking about LeBron right now, there is no doubt that MJ is still seen as the GOAT by most people. Additionally, Jordan has been able to enjoy massive success as an entrepreneur. At this point, his net worth is well over $2 billion as he owns the Charlotte Hornets, and a NASCAR team. Additionally, he even gets a whole bunch of royalties from Jordan Brand.

With all of this money in mind, it should come as no surprise that Jordan is also big on giving back. He has made various donations throughout his career and he will continue to do so. In fact, Jordan is about to turn 60 years old. Consequently, he is taking the opportunity to donate a large sum to one of his favorite organizations. This organization is the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Overall, this is an amazing org that helps kids fulfill their wildest dreams.

Michael Jordan Gives Back

Jordan has worked with the foundation since the late 80s. Subsequently, he will be donating $10 million. According to the Instagram post above, this is the largest individual donation they have ever received. “I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true,” Jordan said. Needless to say, this will go a long way in making the wishes of kids throughout the United States come true.

Jordan’s donation is massive and it just goes to show that he has a big heart underneath the competitive spirit he is known for. It is a great gesture, and we can’t wait to see what the organization does with it. As for MJ’s 60th birthday, it is hard to believe that one of the league’s legends is getting up in age. We wish him nothing but prosperity over the coming year.

Kyrie Irving Makes Another Huge Donation

If you are a Kyrie Irving fan, then you know that he has made a ton of charitable donations over the years. He is constantly doing great things for other people, and it is always beautiful to see. Although he may get wrapped up in controversy, you cannot deny he cares about other people.

According to Ace Showbiz, Kyrie has made a plethora of donations in the last year alone. For instance, he sent $65,000 to Shanquella Robinson’s family. Additionally, he gave $60,000 to a black Muslim school in New York, while also sending $22,000 to a student who didn’t have enough tuition funding.

Kyrie Irving Strikes Again

Recently, according to The Neighborhood Talk, Kyrie donated another $22,000. This time, it was to Raymond Johnson Jr. Johnson’s family lost their home on New Year’s Eve, which is truly tragic. While everyone is okay, they need money to be able to survive right now. The goal of the GoFundMe was $10K, however, Irving doubled what they needed.

“On the night of Christmas eve, I received notice that my parents home was on fire due to a propane accident. This is the home we grew up in for 26 years, the house my parents have put their entire living towards along with raising their children,” the GoFundMe reads.

This is a truly amazing thing for Kyrie to do. Of course, it is something he has done before, although you have to respect how committed he is to making these kinds of donations. Overall, it was a great move, and we hope that the Johnsons are able to recover from this tragedy.

Let us know what you think of Irving’s generosity, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from the sports world.

Cardi B Announced A $100K Donation To Her Old Bronx Middle School During A Meeting With Students

Yesterday, Cardi B stopped by her old Bronx middle school, Morris Park’s IS 232, to give back to her beginnings. Cardi donated $100,000, with the hopes of the pledge being used for developing arts education and after-school programs. She was joined by New York City schools chancellor David Banks, Community Capacity Development founder K. Bain, and principal Desiree Resto, as she also gave students an inspirational speech.

“I’m hoping we can have amazing after-school activities. Maybe like tutoring or maybe something fun like a music program. Y’all like music, y’all like to dance?” she asked, as students appeared for the donation announcement as well. “Maybe we can have an amazing after-school program. But I will be donating $100,000 to the school.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Cardi back home to IS 232 in the Bronx, and we are so grateful for her generous contribution to her alma mater,” Banks said. “Cardi B’s commitment of $100,000 for the arts will help the school’s kids soar to their highest heights. Thank you, Cardi.”

The Bronx musician has given back in the past. Just last week, Cardi surprised kids at the non-profit Community Capacity Development’s school event. She is continuing to spread messages about human justice work, by also visiting schools in Queens and Brooklyn. Throughout the pandemic, she donated $1 million to families in need of assistance in April 2020. She would also donate 20,000 meals to New York City hospitals and matched fan donations to various charities in December 2020.

“Any charity or foundation drop your receipts under the comment I will match what you donated and match your donation to that same charity or foundation. Lets match energy,” Cardi wrote on Twitter at the time.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

David Geffen Is Donating $150 Million To Yale So Drama Students Can Attend Tuition-Free

In addition to being a giant in the entertainment world, mega-magnate David Geffen—founder of DreamWorks, Geffen Records, Asylum Records, and more—is equally well known for his philanthropic efforts. Particularly when it comes to the arts and investing in the talent of the future, as evidenced by premier cultural centers like UCLA’s Geffen Playhouse and Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall.

While UCLA has been the recipient of hundreds of millions of Geffen’s dollars over the years, he’s now sending some of that same generosity to the east coast with a $150 million donation to the Yale School of Drama, which Deadline reports will allow approximately 200 students per year to attend the prestigious training ground—tuition-free.

“By reducing the debt burden of the average student, we create more resilient artists and managers who are able to make braver artistic choices—they’re able to take that downtown play and they don’t have to have a career selling real estate on the side,” said drama school dean James Bundy. “Not every artist is going to break through at the age of 25 or 26 or 27. Certain kinds of careers take time to build, and entering the professions with less debt is going to make for more interesting and more resounding choices in the long run.”

Yale offers one of the most competitive drama schools in the world and its alumni include the best of the best: Meryl Streep, Paul Newman, Frances McDormand, Angela Bassett, Tony Shalhoub, Patricia Clarkson, and Lupita Nyong’o are just some of the school’s acting alumni. But its programs include design, directing, and playwrighting, too, so they’ve got plenty of past students to boast about behind the camera and stage scenes, too.

Deadline reports that Geffen’s gift is the largest donation in the history of American theater. Appropriately, the school will now be renamed the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University.
