6LACK’s “Since I Have A Lover” Tracklist Includes Don Toliver & Quin

When 6LACK hit the scene with “Prblms” in 2016, the Atlanta singer instantly fell under the spotlight as a favored recording artist. The track was featured on his studio debut, Free 6LACK, followed by his 2018 release of East Atlanta Love Letter. But much to fans’ disappointment, the detached nature exuded in his music carried into the lyricist’s real life, with five years passing since his last project. Although the 30-year-old has had minimal output lately, he’s been secretly brewing up some heat over the years for his forthcoming album, Since I Have A Lover.

In anticipation of this long-awaited project, 6LACK has released several teasers in the past few months. The journey to Since I Have A Lover, which will drop on March 24th, commenced with an intimate disclosure that explained the singer’s whereabouts. In “A Letter To My Fans,” the Baltimore native explains, “this took longer than I promised, but some promises are meant to be broken. When it comes to time and growth, there’s no skipping any part of the process so you just end up repeating lessons that you should have definitely learned from by now.”

6LACK Explains Delay In Album With “A Letter To My Fans”

This honest message was joined by two singles from the album, including the titular song, “Since I Have A Lover,” and 6LACK’s most recent drop, “Talkback.” The latter just published on Friday (March 10), accompanied by a low-key lyric video posted on his YouTube page. Both songs bring to light the artist’s uniquely deep and soothing vocals, which have surely been missed by fans.

Since I Have A Lover has been announced as a 20-track album, with minimal features. He did, however, bring on Don Toliver for the track “Temporary” and his real-life lover Quin for “Wunna Dem.” With 6LACK’s album dropping later this month, be sure to keep in touch with HNHH for more information about this highly-anticipated project.

6lack Invites Don Toliver And Quin Onto His Long-Awaited ‘Since I Have A Lover’ Album

Apparently, according to the charts, streaming numbers, and Lizzo, 2023 is the year of alternative R&B musicians. Musician 6lack heard the news and is answering the call with a new project of his own, Since I Have A Lover.

After receiving some outreach assistance from Atlanta’s Water Boyz, Mr. Vaentine flooded residents in his hometown’s downtown area with flowers and a note to confirm a new album was in the works. Now, with two singles, “Since I Have A Lover” (the title track) and “Talkback,” now available across streaming platforms, the songwriter revealed a bit more about the body of work.

With nearly twenty songs on the album, Since I Have A Lover will only feature two billed guest vocal appearances. The first is singer Quin, his romantic partner and past collaborator (“Mushroom Chocolate”). The second is melodic rapper Don Toliver. Quin is set to appear on a track titled “Wunna Dem,” whereas Don Toliver will appear on a song called “Temporary.”

Don Toliver Gushed About His Singer Girlfriend Kali Uchis During His Nardwuar Interview: ‘She’s Amazing’

Don Toliver may rap all about being lovesick on his latest studio album; however, in real life, he has quite a healthy romantic life. The musician doesn’t hold back from collaborating with fellow acts such as Travis Scott and Justin Bieber, but the one that holds closest to his heart is the ongoing one with his girlfriend, singer Kali Uchis.

The pair have collaborated on multi songs in the past, including “4 Me” and “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” but during his interview with Nardwuar, the rapper gushed about her.

While handing Toliver a few April March albums to gift Uchis, when asked about their song, “4 Me,” Toliver said, “She’s amazing. I love her artistry! Her artistry is beyond.” He then continued to take a moment to promote Uchis’ new album, Red Moon In Venus, which was released on Friday (March 3).

“She’s actually dropping an interview tonight. I’m really excited,” replied Toliver.

Toliver has no problem playing into the stereotypical rapper persona, flexing a fictional playboy lifestyle in his music videos, but as shown in this interview, he is more of a hopeless romantic than a stone-cold ladies’ man.

SOHH Takes Rolling Loud California 2023: The Top Biggest Surprises At This Year’s Festival

Rolling Loud 2023

This year’s festival was everything a hip-hop fan can ask for with a banging celebrity line-up that surprised the audience even more than they could have anticipated. Justin Bieber Joins Don Toliver At Rolling Loud For “Private Landing” Performance

Justin Bieber apparently isn’t allowing the online chatter to prevent him from hitting the stage for Rolling Loud. Bieber’s personal dramas between his ex-girlfriend and his wife became a topic of discussion following a post from Hailey Bieber. Selena fans felt as though Hailey Bieber took shots at the Wizards Of Waverly Place star in a TikTok. However, things escalated further between the two fanbases following his 29th birthday extravaganza with friends and family.

Many of Selena’s fans felt as though Justin’s souvenir gift to his guests was a shot toward his ex. A message that read, “I’m so thankful that I didn’t end up with what I thought I wanted,” was engrained onto the lighter covers, which fueled the flames between Bieber and his wife and the fans of Selena Gomez. Though Hailey and Selena previously indicated that they were on good terms, the internet continued to egg on the rumors of the beef. However, the singer didn’t seem to be sweating the allegations much over the weekend, especially after popping out during Rolling Loud this weekend.

Justin Bieber Joins Don Toliver On Stage

As fans bickered online over the perceived shot, Bieber blessed fans at Rolling Loud with a rare performance. Don Toliver brought the Justice singer on stage to perform their latest record, “Private Landing,” which appears on Love Sick. Biebs came out on stage to roaring applause as he delivered his verse from their collaboration. It was an incredible surprise for Bieber fans, even if it was for a few short minutes on stage.

His appearance might be one of the few times fans will catch him live in the foreseeable future. Last week, he announced that the remaining dates of the Justice tour have been canceled. Though he made the abrupt announcement with little explanation, Bieber previously revealed that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome in 2022. At the time, he said that he had to postpone the U.S. dates of the tour to make a recovery. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding Bieber’s return to the road. Check out his performance with Don Toliver above.

Don Toliver Brought Out Justin Bieber At Rolling Loud For An Epic Performance Of ‘Private Landing’

Don Toliver’s time is now. His set on Saturday, March 4 at Rolling Loud California 2023 was the proof. Not only has the Cactus Jack signee released his third studio album, Love Sick, but late last month, he immediately doubled down to drop the deluxe version.

Toliver’s album release concert earlier this week at Irving Plaza set the bar high for Rolling Loud California ticket holders. But the “Leave The Club” rapper had no trouble delivering. During his set at the festival, he brought out collaborator Justin Bieber for an epic performance of their track “Private Landing.”

As the California sun set, the two danced along to the song as they left it all on the stage. Bieber’s appearance comes as a surprise as the singer has been battling a medical condition that has forced him to cancel shows in the past.

Although Future, also featured on the track, was notably absent, the duo carried on in a way that made his absence an afterthought. Fans of Future shouldn’t look too deep into his absence either, as the rapper is set to close the festival on Sunday, March 5. Toliver is also set to join Future on tour next month.

Toliver was also sure to feature one more important person to him during his set, singer Kali Uchis. Uchis and Toliver have been dating for over a year and have often featured each other in their music.

Kali Uchis & Don Toliver Create A “Fantasy” On Our “R&B Season” Playlist Update

Our first R&B Season update of March may be short, but we promise that it’s still seriously sweet. From this week’s New Music Friday arrivals, we’ve selected the best of the best for your listening pleasure. At the top of the list today (March 5) is a duo we’ve been hearing a lot from lately – Kali Uchis and her man, Don Toliver.

In February, the Cactus Jack artist unleashed his most ambitious project to date, Love Sick. “Private Landing” with Justin Bieber and Future, as well as “Leave The Club” featuring Lil Durk and GloRilla are obvious favourites. Still, it was his romantic collaboration with the Colombian songstress on “4 Me” that really caught our attention. Following in Toliver’s footsteps, Uchis shared her Red Moon In Venus album earlier this week. So far, plenty of praise has been pouring in.

The young lover’s link-up on “Fantasy” is at the top of our R&B Season update this week. Of course, Uchis’ entire effort is worth a listen if you have the time. Other noteworthy guest appearances come from Omar Apollo on “Worth the Wait,” and Summer Walker on “Deserve Me.”

Music lovers were excited to hear from 6LACK for the first time in 2023 this month. The Baltimore-born lyricist shared his “Since I Have A Lover” single to an undeniably warm welcome, with nearly 687K streams amassed on Spotify already. He also revealed that his upcoming album will have the same name, and is due out on March 24th.

This will mark the 6LACK’s long-awaited follow-up to his 2018 project, East Atlanta Love Letter. That yielded fan favourites like “Pretty Little Fears” with J. Cole and “Switch,” as well as “Seasons” featuring Khalid. As the debut date nears closers, we’re eagerly waiting to find out which other tracks will land on our R&B Season playlist.

Our final pick of the week comes from the always groovy Masego, whose self-titled album has been in constant rotation since Friday. Our favourite from the 14-song tracklist is “What You Wanna Try,” however all of the Jamaican’s previously released singles are great too.

Stream it all on our weekly R&B Season update, exclusively on Spotify, below. Afterward, tell us which new arrivals you think we may have missed in the comments. If you’re in need of more release recommendations, you can find them on our Fire Emoji playlist here.
