Dionne Warwick And Dolly Parton Have Recorded A ‘Very Special’ Gospel Duet That Drops This Month

Dionne Warwick and Dolly Parton, two of the most beloved and enduring musicians of their era, made the brilliant decision to record a gospel duet together, and fans just might get to hear it soon.

The song, “Peace Like A River,” came to fruition after Parton wrote the it and approached Warwick about wanting to work with her.

“She sent me a song that she wanted me to record, and I said, ‘OK, that sounds like a deal,’” Warwick said during an appearance on The Tamron Hall Show today (January 3). “She’s such a sweetheart, I know her. And then she sent me another song, the one that we’re going to be doing as a duet.”

“My heart is like, ‘This is how the year is supposed to be kicked off,’” Hall said, introducing the sweet news.

“I am very excited about this, I really am. I’ve done so many duets over the years, but this one’s gonna be very special,” Warwick added.

The collaboration feels very meant-to-be. Warwick’s late cousin, Whitney Houston, covered Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” — making it a massive hit again in 1992. Even though Warwick and Parton have been friends and are regarded as the internet’s most-loved grandmas, the duo hadn’t collaborated before… until this month.

Miley Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve Special Will Feature Dolly Parton, Sia, Latto, And ‘SNL’ Cast Members

After teasing the featured guest stars for her Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party NBC Special while appearing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon earlier this month, the full lineup for Miley Cyrus’ second annual NYE bash has now been officially announced.

For starters, Cyrus has ditched Pete Davidson as a co-host, and instead, her godmother Dolly Parton will be co-hosting the bash alongside her. The star-studded lineup of musical acts has been confirmed to feature pop singers Sia and Fletcher, rappers Latto and Rae Sremmurd, as well as LA rock band Liily. It will be recorded live from Miami and broadcast on NBC.

Executive produced by Cyrus and Lorne Michaels, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party will also feature appearances from Saturday Night Live cast members Chloe Fineman and Sarah Sherman, as well as the comedy trio known as Please Don’t Destroy of comedians Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy.

This official announcement comes after a series of mysterious “New Year, New Miley” posters popped up in Los Angeles and Copenhagen last week “The lineup is very me,” Cyrus told Fallon. “It is curated in a way that makes no sense but makes total sense.”

Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party will air live on Saturday, December 31 on NBC from 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. ET. The special will also stream live on Peacock.

Miley Cyrus is planning to end 2022 and kick off 2023 with a bang. Last month, it was announced that Cyrus would return to NBC and Peacock for Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, which she hosted last year with Pete Davidson. Although this year, Davidson won’t be returning as Cyrus’ cohost. Instead, she will ring in the new year with none other than America’s treasure — her own Godmother, Dolly Parton.

While plenty will be tuned into already to see Cyrus and Parton, the “Midnight Sky” hitmaker announced that she will be bringing in even more exciting guests to her annual New Year’s party. Yesterday (December 9) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Cyrus revealed Latto, Sia, and Rae Sremmurd would be performing throughout the night.

Cyrus also noted that these aren’t the only performers who will be taking the stage at her New Year’s Eve celebration.

“As we get closer to the show, I want to start revealing who else we have,” she said. “But the lineup is very me. It is curated in a way that makes no sense, but makes total sense.”

Dolly Parton Says Working With Doja Cat On Their Taco Bell Musical Was ‘Almost As Good As Mexican Pizza’

We’ve long known that Taco Bell is making a musical about the recently returned fan-favorite menu item, Mexican Pizza, with Dolly Parton and Doja Cat. It’s all very extremely silly but it’s also not a joke; Mexican Pizza: The Musical will premiere on TikTok(!) on September 15, depicting the “‘harrowing’ story of those who fought to bring back the Mexican Pizza.” Now, we know a little bit more about the upcoming — play? Ad? Short film? Music video? Elaborate troll? — courtesy of Consequence and Dolly Parton herself, who offered a statement on working with Doja Cat and Taco Bell.

“What a fun time and what a fun idea to be part of the Mexican Pizza musical,” she said. “It was a joy working with Doja Cat, [the musical’s writers] [Abigail] Barlow and [Emily] Bear, and Victor [Kunda, a TikToker who apparently helped choreograph the musical]. Very cool. I would say it was ALMOST as good as a Mexican Pizza!”

Initially billed for a May premiere, the project was pushed back to September and an entire third act was added. The premiere will coincide with the return of the Mexican pizza to Taco Bell menus — which Doja Cat began pushing for in 2021 and finally accomplished earlier this year — and will be a Postmates/Uber Eats exclusive until September 21. Customers who make a minimum $20 order on those apps can get a free pizza, and that deal will extend to Grubhub from the 23rd to the 25th. Mexican Pizza: The Musical will premiere on Taco Bell’s TikTok on 9/15 at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT.

Eminem, Dolly Parton, And Others Will Be Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

The list of 2022 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominees was revealed back in February. Since then, the voting process has started and finished, and now, the 2022 induction class has been finalized, the Hall announced this morning that set to be inducted are Eminem, Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics, and Carly Simon.

Duran Duran, Eminem, And Dolly Parton All Made The Fan-Voted Rock Hall Of Fame 2022 Ballot

This year’s Rock Hall of Fame ballot has seen quite a lot of drama already — because of Dolly Parton? It’s true! In another act of grandiose, self-aware grace, the country singer tried to decline her nomination to the historical hall because she felt that lots of other more “rock” oriented groups should get in before her. Unfortunately for Dolly, pretty much everyone on the planet disagreed. First of all, she’s a songwriting icon, and second of all, her constant decisions to put the good of other people first is so metal that it supersedes any genre distinction — she’s rock and roll, whether she likes it or not. Luckily, she accepted.

Anyway, voters definitely agreed, because after the Hall made it clear they were keeping Dolly on the ballot for the fan voted sections. She made the top five spots quite easily, following up Duran Duran, Eminem, Pat Benatar, and Eurythmics. Those who finished just outside those top five slots include Judas Priest, Carly Simon and Lionel Richie, so they won’t be nabbing one of the fan selected spots this year. Those votes from fans are taken into final consideration, but don’t necessarily guarantee an artist makes it into the hall: The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a ‘fans’ ballot’ that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2022 inductees,” said the Rock Hall said of these selections.

Congratulations to Duran Duran, Em, Pat, Eurythmics and Dolly for the vote of confidence. The final announcement will come in May, with the induction ceremony coming shortly after.

Dolly Parton Says Mistreating The Earth Is Like ‘Being Ugly To Your Mama’

If there’s one person who could save us from ourselves, it’s probably Dolly Parton. The legendary singer/songwriter/actor/philanthropist/novelist/goddess is also quite the philosopher, and has a way of seeing the world that somehow makes everything clear.

Take, for example, the very complicated and geopolitical matter of climate change. Just ahead of Earth Day, the Tennessee native sat down with National Geographic to chat about her love of the Great Smoky Mountains she grew up surrounded by, calling her home state “one of the most beautiful places in the world.”

Parton is putting her money where her mouth is, too. The American Eagle Foundation, a nonprofit organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and educates the public about eagles, owls, vultures, and other birds of prey, counts Dollywood—Parton’s iconic theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee—among its largest sponsors, and operates a bald eagle sanctuary from the park. Through her partnerships as well as her own actions, Parton hopes to encourage others to feel the same sense of stewardship over not just the places they live, but the world at large.

Respecting the music, the land, the people—all that lies at the heart of Parton’s hopes for the future. Parton is unafraid to stomp her glittery heel when it comes to caring for the environment—her message is clear and she is increasingly amplifying it wherever she travels. How can she be wrong?

“We should pay more attention. We’re just mistreating Mother Nature—that’s like being ugly to your mama,” Parton says. “We need to take better care of the things that God gave us freely. And that we’re so freely messing up.”

Finally, Dolly Parton Wants To Give The People What They Want (A Musical Biopic About Her Life), And She Knows Who Should Play Her

A decade-and-a-half ago, John C. Reilly helped kill the musical biopic dead. Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story mercilessly mocked movies like Walk the Line and Ray, skewering their tropes so devastatingly that no one dared make them for years and years. But they were bound to one day rise from the dead. And so they have. The last few years have seen movies like Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman, about Queen and Elton John, make a ton of money, all while reviving the clichés that once made the genre ripe for satire. So why hasn’t anyone done one yet about Dolly Parton? That’s what Dolly Parton wants to know.

According to CNN, the country music goddess, too occasional movie star, and theme park owner last month appeared on the radio show Mr. Nashville Speaks, where she discussed her first novel, Run, Rose, Run. She also revealed that she’s in talks to do a big screen Dolly movie.

“I do intend someday to be on Broadway, but I’m thinking now that I might do my life story as a feature,” Parton told host Larry Ferguson. “Maybe possibly even a musical feature, so we’re in talks about that.”

Parton said that a Broadway Dolly musical almost happened, but the pandemic delayed that so long that she changed her mind. Now she’s pursuing a Dolly movie.

But who on earth could ever hope to summon even a scintilla of the charisma of one of the great entertainers? Parton had some ideas.

“I love Kristin Chenoweth,” Parton said. “She’s just absolutely fantastic.” But perhaps Chenoweth, if she’s comfortable inhabiting the shoes of the woman who wrote both “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” on the same frickin’ day, would only be one of multiple Dollys. “We’d probably have to have-as long as my career has been-like a little Dolly and a middle Dolly and then the older one.”

So there you have it, Hollywood. Go forth and make a Dolly Parton movie. In the meantime, go watch the too few movies she’s made over the years. Yes, even the one with Stallone.

Dolly Parton Wants To Collaborate With Cardi B And Has A Plan To Make It Happen

Prior to last night’s 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, country legend Dolly Parton sat down with E! News’ Daily Pop to discuss her admiration for her peers in the industry. Parton, who hosted and performed at the 2022 ACM Awards, named a few artists with whom she’d like to collaborate. Among those artists were Cher and Cardi B.

Although Parton and Cardi B are sonic opposites, Parton said she admired Cardi’s outspokenness and creativity.

“She’s a character,” Parton told Daily Pop of Cardi. “I know she’s an original.”

Parton also expressed interest in working on some sort of project with Cher, incorporating the “Up” rapper one way or another.

“I would love to do something with [Cher] sometime, a TV show, or a movie,” Dolly said of Cher. “We’ll have Cardi B on that same show, let Cher host it, and me and Cardi B will be the entertainment.”

At the 2022 ACM Awards, Parton witnessed Kelly Clarkson deliver a tribute to her, by way of a performance of “Jolene.”

“I have known Kelly since she won American Idol,” Parton said. “She’s just so real, as everybody knows. She’s just exactly the way she comes across. Her voice is absolutely bliss and incredible.”
