Charlamagne Tha God On “The Breakfast Club” Without DJ Envy

Charlamagne tha God has spoken out on the future of The Breakfast Club as it continues without DJ Envy. The longtime co-host has been facing backlash after his former business partner Cesar Pina was arrested for allegedly using a ponzi real estate scheme to defraud investors. Charlamagne addressed the situation during an interview on Rap Radar podcast.

“I think The Breakfast Club is bigger than any of us as individuals. I’ve always felt like that. In my mind, what I’ve always wanted for The Breakfast Club was new talent constantly comes in and is a part of this, is under this umbrella of the club. So whether Angela Yee is there, or I’m there or Envy’s there, the platform can still continue,” he said. Yee had also hosted the show until December 2022, when she left to launch Way Up With Angela Yee.

Rick Ross Trolls DJ Envy Over Alleged Real Estate Fraud

Rick Ross trolled DJ Envy during an interview with Rolling Stone, in which the outlet asked him for his opinion on The Breakfast Club host’s accused role in the alleged real estate scam run by his former business partner Cesar Pina.

“Yo, that was classic. ‘Beige Rage.’ That’s DJ Liquidation. DJ Scammer,” Rozay said in response. “Yo, you’re from New York? Did he scam anyone you know?…You sure? You gotta poll all the older ladies in your family because they said they specifically targeted older women who would stay up late at night and order silver jewelry off the TV. You gotta call all your grandmas and aunties. Those real-estate scams … He’s a thief. It’s unfortunate for the older ladies.”

An attorney for DJ Envy, Massimo F. D’Angelo, addressed Ross’ comments in a statement provided to XXL. “I have served Ross with a cease and desist,” the statement reads. “Obviously his claims are completely fictitious and solely based on his long-standing fight with Envy over his competing car show business.” The comments from both come after Ross and Envy engaged in a public feud, earlier this year, while they both hosted rival car shows.

As for Cesar Pina, police arrested him, last month, with one count of wire fraud. They suspect he has been orchestrating a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme disguised as a house-flipping business. Envy helped Pina promote the business on numerous occasions over the years. He, however, has not been charged with anything. Pina has even come forward to proclaim Envy’s innocence. “In all these lawsuits, these 20 lawsuits, DJ Envy was never in the room with me,” he said on Instagram Live. “DJ Envy has nothing to do with any of these 20 lawsuits of these people that are suing me. It f**king sucks, bro. It pisses me off that all these people are bashing DJ Envy…What you gotta understand is, DJ Envy is so successful in hip-hop, as far as a DJ, that people just don’t like him.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Pina’s case on HotNewHipHop.

Joe Budden Confirms He Was Punched, but Not Jumped During Night Out

Joe Budden Reacts to Logic’s “It Was a Good Day” Cover

Joe Budden has nothing for the belief he was jumped over the weekend. Rumors swirled online that Budden was jumped at a New York Strip club. This follows a separate alleged attack connected to his commentary on the real estate controversy of DJ Envy and Cesar Pina.

On Saturday’s edition of The Joe Budden Podcast, Budden revealed that he was approached by a man at a lounge with bear spray. Budden was out with a friend and stated he was warned by the bartender about the behavior of men in the building. Footage surfaced online of the event. Budden states the man behind the camera was Pina’s brother.

After what is believed to be another night out, the rumors of Budden being jumped swirled. Budden’s friend, Tony “The Closer” Robinson, tweeted to shut down the rumors.

“I just heard from Joe Budden he good y’all be hype as shit to say he got jumped,” Robinson wrote. “Like what world we celebrate n***as jumping n***as. He ain’t have a scratch on his face don’t know who he got into it with but he definitely didn’t look like he got jumped.”

Tony shared that this event had nothing to do with Envy and Pina’s case.

Joe would also speak on the issue on Instagram Live with QueenzFlip. “Nigga socked back and popped me one good time but that was it,” Budden said. “I told y’all I eat a punch well, but now we gotta go.”

Joe Budden Remains Composed After Cesar Pina’s Brother Pulls Up On Him: Watch

Joe Budden has been very vocal about the DJ Envy and Cesar Pina situation. As we have reported extensively, Pina is being accused of running a real estate fraud scheme. Furthermore, Envy is implicated in all of this due to the fact that he was a big promoter of Pina’s business. They even did seminars together which has subsequently furthered the allegations. As for Budden, he felt like all of this was a scam from the beginning. He even told Envy that during a phone call.

“I think this is very very severe,” Budden said on a previous podcast. “I’m not certain I’m not certain how big this is but I think it’s going to be way bigger than this. I’ve been telling you and you that for months. I think this is barely scratching the f*cking surface and I’m giving grace by just reporting on this.” Recently, however, Joe Budden found himself in an odd situation. In the video below, you can see that Cesar Pina’s brother pulled up on the former rapper. However, nothing really came of it.

Joe Budden Pays No Mind To The Trolls

Budden was outside of an establishment with a woman and was also smoking a cigarette. However, the man interrupted Budden and was clearly very annoyed. The person behind the camera was only looking to antagonize Joe and didn’t even press him in a meaningful way. Eventually, Joe said to get the camera out of his face. He subsequently protected his guest from the man and walked back inside the establishment.

Based on various reactions on social media, it is clear that Budden was in the right here. Furthermore, many are praising Budden for how he handled this, with one person writing “I like how he protected her.” Let us know what you think of this move from Pina’s brother, in the comments section below. Fabolous Recalls DJ Envy Calling Him With Real Estate Opportunity

Fabolous is an artist who has been extremely successful over the years. Although as someone with money, there are those who seek some of that green. Recently, it was revealed that DJ Envy had actually called Fab about potentially investing in real estate. However, as we know now, the real estate investments that Envy was touting weren’t too great. Instead, his business partner Cesar Pina has been arrested on wire fraud charges. Furthermore, some are accusing Envy of being the catalyst for a lot of Pina’s success.

That said, those who were approached by Envy, are now speaking out. For instance, Jeremy Hecht of HipHopDX recently spoke to Fab and asked him about the call with Envy. In the video below, you can see how that conversation went down. In Fab’s mind, he never thought it was a scam or some sort of fraud scheme. Instead, it was just someone presenting an opportunity. Regardless, Fabolous was never all that interested.

Fabolous Speaks

“He was tellin’ me about some real estate stuff,” Fabolous recalled. “I’m just a guy that gotta see things through a little bit more. I don’t just get hyped at … y’know, it be a lotta ‘get money’ — I don’t want to call it a scam or a scheme — but a lotta ‘get money’ ideas that come to you, so I just gotta see ’em through. So even with that phone call, I was like, ‘Aight,’ but I wasn’t like, ‘Sign me up, [who] do I give my money to?’ Y’know what I mean, and I didn’t really hear back from [him].”

As we know by now, Joe Budden was also approached. However, he immediately told Envy he would go to jail for this scheme. DJ Envy Expected to Cooperate Against Cesar Pina

Screen Shot 2023 10 18 at 9.22.48 PM

DJ Envy’s lawyer spoke with famed court reporter Meghann Cuniff, who details The Breakfast Club host’s relationship with Cesar Pina.

Speaking with Envy’s lawyer, Massimo D’Angelo, Cuniff reports that “Envy is going to be assisting and cooperating fully” to get money back for himself and his victims.

D’Angelo said Envy invested $500K with Pina and “didn’t get any money back.” Adding, “He paid out substantial sums similar to some of the other investors who thought they were getting money back.”

Earlier this month, federal agents arrested DJ Envy’s former business partner Cesar Pina on Wednesday.

According to Tony “The Closer” Robinson, Pina, a.k.a. “Flipping NJ,” is accused of running a real estate Ponzi scheme. He is charged with scamming investors out of millions of dollars.

DJ Envy, real name RaaShaun Casey, is a co-defendant in multiple lawsuits filed by investors who say they were ripped off by Pina in an elaborate Ponzi scheme.

Envy and Pina held seminars to lure hundreds of investors to flip distressed properties for profit. But investors say Pina took their money and ran. DJ Envy also promoted the seminars on iHeart Radio’s popular Breakfast Club morning show.

Many victims said they invested with Pina because DJ Envy was his business partner and they trusted Envy.

But DJ Envy denied any involvement in the Ponzi scheme. He said he’s also a victim because he gave money to Pina.

Jose Santiago and his wife, Jessica Ortiz told News 4 they invested $200,000 in a Paterson, NJ property that Pina claimed he owned.

“He’s advertising this all over radio and television, so I thought this was legit,” Santiago said.

Nigel Chamblin said he invested nearly $1 million in several properties that Pina claimed he owned. But Pina didn’t own any of the properties.

“There were other people investing in these exact same properties,” Chamblin told News 4. “It was a scam, it was a lie.”

Is DJ Envy A Suspect In The Alleged Real Estate Ponzi Scheme?

DJ Envy, co-host of The Breakfast Club, generally provides light-hearted commentary, but right now, he’s connected to a very serious federal investigation. Cesar Pina, known as a business associate of Envy’s and occasional guest on The Breakfast Club, has been arrested and charged by federal prosecutors for “a multi-million-dollar Ponzi-like investment fraud scheme” (as reported by Billboard on October 18). People are giving DJ Envy the side-eye, and Desus Mero wasted no time using it as satirical material as this week’s The Daily Show host.

On Wednesday, October 25, People cited court documents regarding DJ Envy’s potential involvement in Pina’s alleged fraudulent activity.

“Pina partnered with a celebrity disc jockey and radio personality to conduct real estate seminars around the country,” the court documents state. “Through these seminars, self-promotional efforts, and other marketing strategies, Pina developed a significant social media following.”

People also relayed that Massimo D’Angelo, Envy’s attorney, exclusively told the publication that DJ Envy “had no involvement in the alleged scheme, and that he’s filed motions to dismiss two lawsuits that named Envy.” D’Angelo added, “Envy is a victim and sits in the same place as the other alleged victims are in these schemes.”

Meanwhile, Pina addressed the rumors surrounding DJ Envy during an Instagram Live on Tuesday, October 24 (as captured by Billboard), saying, “DJ Envy was never in the room with me. DJ Envy has nothing to do with any of these 20 lawsuits of these people who are suing me. It f*cking sucks, bro. It pisses me off that all these people are bashing DJ Envy.”

Billboard also contextualized the complicated legal matter, as excerpted below:

“For months, Pina has faced allegations that he promised dozens of investors big profits on real estate deals in Northern New Jersey, only to return little or nothing. Those accusations started on social media but quickly turned into at least 20 civil lawsuits; one victim attorney estimated that more than 30 investors have come forward, seeking over $40 million from Pina and his wife, Jennifer.

Many of those lawsuits, including one filed by music industry veteran Anthony Martini, name DJ Envy as a co-defendant, citing his close ties with Pina — including Pina’s frequent appearances on The Breakfast Club and a series of real estate seminars that the two men co-hosted. Envy has strongly denied the accusations, saying he knew nothing about any foul play and actually lost $500,000 that he invested with Pina.”

You can watch what DJ Envy had to say about it on the October 11 episode of The Breakfast Club below.

Angela Yee Questioned DJ Envy About Real Estate Business In Resurfaced Video

DJ Envy’s major real estate scam has become the story that everyone can’t stop talking about. The Breakfast Club co-host was first swept up in the scandal by some crafty local news reporting last month. But at the time it was unclear what his level of involvement was. Now, it’s become a lot clearer that Envy knew more than he was willing to admit to.

Amid DJ Envy being increasingly named in various lawsuits related to real estate fraud scams, dozens of celebs have spoken out against him. Rick Ross led the way when he and Funk Flex lit into the host. They took aim directly at his shady dealings last month and it hasn’t relented since. It was first addressed on The Breakfast Club earlier this month and that’s when things really started to spiral out of control. One of his primary associates was hit with a fraud charge shortly after. Rumors have swirled about an apparent raid on Envy’s iHeartRadio office and The Breakfast Club even looking for a potential new host. Amid the revelations, fans have been pouring through old clips looking for details that look very different with the newfound context. Check out one of those clips below.

It isn’t the only video that fans have been re-examining in the wake of recent news.

There’s another unfortunate clip that fans recently dug up. In that video, Envy offers a free chain to those who would sign up and eventually become victims of the scheme.
