Nicki Minaj Claims That JAY-Z Never Paid Her For Tidal Ownership Deal

Nicki Minaj has beef with other rappers. It’s what she does when she’s not making hits. The beef that she’s sparking up with JAY-Z has been particularly bitter, though. The rapper absolutely laid into Hov after it was announced that Kendrick Lamar, and not Lil Wayne, would be headlining the 2025 Halftime Show in New Orleans. Nicki Minaj questioned JAY-Z’s allegiance, and called him some pretty nasty names in the process. Apparently, she had more to say.

Nicki Minaj’s initial Twitter rant took place on September 9. A day later, though, the rapper decided to drop more anti-Hov rhetoric on a DJ Akademiks TikTok post. Ak was covering the fallout of the Halftime Show announcement, and the alleged tensions between JAY-Z and Drake. Minaj went into the comment section and proceeded to make some bold claims about JAY’s former streaming service, Tidal. Tidal did not pan out like the rapper intended, but in seemed like it was going to be the next big thing in 2015. A lot of fans likely remember the Tidal signing event, where a host of superstars took to the stage to serve as partial owners.

Nicki Minaj Calls Out JAY-Z Over Her 2015 Tidal Deal

Nicki Minaj was one of these superstars. She signed a streaming deal with Tidal, and proceeded to stand onstage next to Rihanna, Madonna, and countless others. The only problem? She didn’t get paid. Minaj claimed that she never received payment from the platform, despite JAY selling Tidal on the notion of making more for the artist. “I didn’t even get one red penny,” the rapper wrote. To add insult to injury, at least in her mind, Minaj was stiffed on signing to a platform that she spent lots of time promoting. She claimed to have promoted it as much as JAY-Z’s own wife, Beyonce. “No one promoted it more than me outside of Beyonce,” she added. “Lol chi.”

Nicki Minaj’s claims directly contrasts previous reports about Tidal. JAY-Z sold the streaming platform for a whopping $300 million in 2021. The Shade Room reported that the stars who were listed as co-owners of the platform were given a payout of $8.9 million. This was intended to cover the 3% stake that each of them, Minaj included, had in the company. Minaj has never mentioned Tidal drama in the past, which is a bit suspicious, but we get the sense that she has a lot more to say about JAY-Z in the near future. Maybe she will provide evidence to support her financial claims.

DJ Akademiks Claims Drake’s “Game 2” Has Nothing To Do With Another Kendrick Lamar Battle

Now that Kendrick Lamar has announced his Super Bowl halftime show, many fans are wondering what Drake really meant with his “Game 2” teases. For those unaware, Kendrick seemed to call out The Boy’s hints towards another round by proclaiming that there’s only one shot at winning a championship. But fans didn’t really know how to interpret this IG burner tease from the 6ix God, which consisted of Rasheed Wallace saying that the Pistons will “win Game 2.” They went on to win the series, and DJ Akademiks is the latest person to suggest that this supposed victory in the long run is what he’s trying to refer to here.

‘Game 2’ has nothing to do with running back the rap Battle between Drake and Kendrick,” DJ Akademiks tweeted. Most likely, people advocating for this “Game 2” are concerned more with sales, commercial performance, and industry dominance than actual rap battles and beef. Many folks are rallying against Jay-Z now, for example, and have this “rich man versus rich man” approach as they pick their favorite capitalist to pettily use the industry to one-up each other through. And while Kendrick Lamar is performing at the Super Bowl, Drizzy is one of the ambassadors for FIFA World Cup 2026, which will take place across North America. So what do you care about in hip-hop: the money or the music? We know Ak’s answer…

DJ Akademiks Says “Game 2” Is Not About Kendrick Lamar Versus Drake

But Game 2, we will win,” DJ Akademiks had previously shared. “Game 2, we will win. That’s a fact. If you think Drake finna abandon and forsake all them fans, you got to realize, this for the fans right here. You think he gon’ let some p***y a** n***as have something over him, his legacy, and his fans? No! Aye, chat, f**k that. This the new thing: Drake in five. Drake in five, people, Drake in five. Remember I told you that. No, no, no, no, we ain’t doing six. Five. What’s understood don’t need to be explained. Y’all are going to watch it. Listen, listen, we got to see where the game starts. We got to see, bro. Just watch Game 2, bro. Just watch Game 2.”

What you won’t hear from OVO fans, though, is that they just want any excuse for Drake to “beat” Kendrick Lamar, whereas Kendrick fans have all the proof they wanted. At least both sides mostly agree that Lil Wayne should’ve had the headlining slot instead, and that goes for every other New Orleans Super Bowl. Regardless, we’ll see how this all continues to develop. Hopefully one day we can talk about these MCs without having to mention the other.

DJ Akademiks Loses It After Kendrick Lamar Lands Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance

DJ Akademiks went off in a rant on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday night after the NFL announced that Kendrick Lamar will be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show. He accused JAY-Z of colluding against Drake by helping his ongoing rival host an even bigger version of The Pop Out event.

“The NFL just gave Kendrick Lamar a global ‘Pop Out’ show… Jay Z I see u n****h… u ain’t low…,” Ak began a series of posts. In more, he added: “Jay Z and roc nation responsible for curating the Super Bowl half time show… remember that. Metroboomin waiting by the phone for Kendrick Lamar to call him n invite him to the Super Bowl performance to get his 16 off with his lil MPC. Every n***a at the pop out event w Kendrick texting him rn like ‘PART 2 @ SUPERBOWL?? BIG HOMIE?!!’ Drake and J Cole rapped ‘Big As the What.. Big As the Super Bowl’ And Jay Z just made Kendrick Lamar the headliner of the Super Bowl. Nah n***a dis sh*t is wild … this sh*t crazy.”

Akademiks concluded: “Na f*ck dat… Drake gotta squabble with Kendrick Lamar. Enough is enough. Talmbout ‘No Round 2s’ …. Kendrick a petty n***a .. sees everything and clearly hates the f*ck outta drake. The Super Bowl in New Orleans and they let Kendrick Lamar perform over Lil Wayne…. Jay Z a legendary hater for that.” Before ending the rant, he teased: “Round 2 Will Still Proceed.”

In Lamar’s Super Bowl announcement, he remarked “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship — no round twos.” Drake had recently teased gearing up for a “Game 2,” which fans interpreted as a reference to his feud with Lamar. DJ Akademiks Speaks On Rappers’ Reactions To Rich Homie Quan’s Death

Rich Homie Quan spent over a decade crafting his artistry in the game before his untimely loss, even if the peaks of his powers came and went some years ago in many fans’ eyes. But hardcore listeners know that he kept releasing music all throughout, and that he still had a lot of compelling ideas and creative decisions in his art. Moreover, many hip-hop figures have commented on how the Atlanta artist’s legacy will change and evolve now that he’s no longer with us, with some thinking that this reappraisal is coming off as fake from a few select MCs and producers out there. DJ Akademiks expressed a similar sentiment on his livestream. Specifically, he compared this situation to another recent rap tragedy. “There’s so many Atlanta rappers who I’ve seen chime in, as well,” Ak began. “I haven’t posted all of them, honestly.

“The reason why I didn’t post all of them is ’cause I got the feeling that I felt when I was talking to PnB Rock,” DJ Akademiks continued. “I can tell you how the PnB Rock interview happened. PnB Rock and me weren’t best friends. PnB Rock did an interview, his last interview on my platform because none of these industry n***as f***ed with him. We talked for two hours. Before we started the interview, he told me how every single artist – The artist that was crying the most when he died? ‘Yeah, I’m waiting on this n***a to give me a verse. But that n***a playing around. Like, n***a switched up on me.’ Obviously, I will not say names, because he never said this on camera. He said it to me personally. I was so shocked and disappointed. All the n***as he was complaining about who didn’t f**k with him no more, they were the n***as that acted like they were the most hurt.

DJ Akademiks On Rich Homie Quan

“They were devastated,” DJ Akademiks went on. “‘Oh, that was my brother!’ This industry is a very fake place. Go watch the interview back I did with PnB Rock. A lot of it is him talking about how things have changed over the years. When he came in the game and when he got hot, cool. But he made a couple of mistakes as a young [man], and a lot of things changed. Rich Homie Quan, the same thing. And I always tell y’all. With these artists, I get the real interview before. Whatever y’all see on camera, that’s not the real interview. They gon’ tell me the truth about all these f**k n***as off camera, when they know I’m not recording. Same with Rich Homie Quan.

“‘All these Atlanta n***as, oh, they just now started feeling it’s cool to f**k with me. I don’t got no problem with bro, but it’s ’cause bro locked up now. These n***as d**k-riders,’” DJ Akademiks quoted. “This is what Quan is telling me! Quan dies? The whole Atlanta, ‘Oh my God, we love you, Quan!‘ Some of the n***as he even said wouldn’t f**k with him. He couldn’t get a beat from, couldn’t get a verse from… I look on the ‘Gram, ‘I know it ain’t you!’ But it ain’t my place once again. It ain’t on me to be like, ‘You know Quan told me you was a f**k n***a who stopped f***ing with him at this time because of this issue?’ But you want to – I won’t even say nothing. It’s cool. But I only say that to contextualize it to let you know that a lot of these n***as… They’re only a funeral delivery service for your flowers. They ain’t gon’ show up when you alive.”

DJ Akademiks Clowned For Trolling Kendrick Lamar As “Not Like Us” Streams Slow Down

DJ Akademiks is getting clowned in the comments section of his latest Instagram post for going after Kendrick Lamar as his streams die down on Spotify. He shared an image of the most streamed rappers from June that shows Drake above him. In the caption, he wrote: “The biggest moment of Kendrick’s career is now fading away. Looks like he needs to diss Drake again to save his career.”

The top comments mostly see fans complaining about Akademiks’ passionate bias. “It’s funny how this whole entire time Kendrick never said NOTHING [laughing emoji] the n***a did his thing then skated, nor did anybody from his team say anything [laughing emoji] but drake fans just won’t let it go, this is called proof of a loss,” one user wrote. Another added: “He did what he wanted them songs was a moment, he’s gone now till he’s back. What they was supposed to be #1 for the rest of the year⁉ come on.. we kno how it gonna go. But it’s running down yall chins B dammit.” One more follower wrote: “Remember 1 month ago AK was salty and saying that Kendrick fans need to ‘Let It Go’ …. now look, AK is STILL using this battle for views and engagement … without this Topic AK page will drop down in views and engagement.”

While many hip-hop fans declared Kendrick Lamar the winner of the beef with Drake following the success of his diss track, “Not Like Us,” the Toronto rapper did recently promise to win “Game 2.” He made the proclamation on his Instagram Story but eventually deleted the post. Regardless, Akademiks took the narrative and ran with it during a recent livestream. “But Game 2, we will win,” he argued. “Game 2, we will win. That’s a fact. DJ Akademiks Explains Why Drake Will “Win Game 2” Against Kendrick Lamar & Company

As if folks didn’t get enough this year, hip-hop culture entertains a very interesting possibility these days: will Drake “win Game 2” as he proclaimed in an Instagram Story? Many folks feel like the series against Kendrick Lamar and company already ended, especially as the Compton lyricist and his camp reportedly have no interest in revisiting their victory. But OVO fans staunchly maintain that their fav will emerge victorious in the end, whether by literally changing the outcome of the battle or flaunting his success in spite of his loss. It’s unclear what possibility DJ Akademiks believes in, but as he showed during his recent livestream, he’s still ten toes down for The Boy.

“But Game 2, we will win,” DJ Akademiks expressed.

DJ Akademiks Thinks Drake Will Win In The End

“Drake. In five,” DJ Akademiks emphasized. “Drake in five. No, no, no, no, we ain’t doing six. Five. What’s understood don’t need to be explained. Y’all are going to watch it. Listen, listen, we got to see where the game starts. We got to see, bro. Just watch Game 2, bro. Just watch Game 2. We ain’t got to tell you the game plan. This ain’t Steve Kerr, n***a. F**k you think, we Gregg Popovich?” Again, what little rumblings we’ve heard on Kendrick Lamar’s end point to this being a one-sided effort.

Meanwhile, all this speculation from DJ Akademiks and others is irrelevant until we really know what “Game 2” means. Is it literally a second round of the Kendrick Lamar battle, will Drake focus on his other opponents, or does “winning Game 2” instead mean just being the biggest rapper of them all? No one really believed that he would lose that status immediately, right? Regardless, we’ll have to patiently wait until we actually have a concrete idea of this epilogue.

DJ Akademiks Gets Obliterated By YouTuber Over Culture Vulture Claims

This all started over a rapper’s death. Ybc Dul aka Mr. Disrespectful was killed on August 26, and a YouTuber named Brandon Buckingham posted an interview with the rapper a day before. DJ Akademiks reacted to said interview, and did not like what he saw. He went on Twitch and accused Buckingham of exploiting Ybc Dul’s death for views. He dubbed Buckingham a “white boy voyeuristic” type, and went on to name other white YouTubers who actually “care about the culture.” Buckingham saw these comments, and proceeded to blow up on DJ Akademiks.

Brandon Buckingham posted a statement to his Twitter account. It’s not delicately worded. He proceeds to insult DJ Akademiks in the first sentence, calling him a “fat drunk p**sy.” He also defended his passion for hip hop as a culture. “Akademiks is really a fat drunk p**sy for running right to his little stream after Dul died to say I’m not for the culture,” Buckingham wrote. Buckingham them aimed criticisms back at Akademiks. “His woman beating bald head a*s sits on a computer all day and is afraid to go any hood anywhere.”

Brandon Buckingham Crashes Out On DJ Akademiks

Brandon Buckingham then flipped DJ Akademiks’ point of reference. Instead of comparing himself to other white YouTubers, he compared himself favorably to Ak. With disrespect, of course. “Stay inside and keep talking sh*t from the comfort of your home,” Buckingham added. “We are both civilians and I have ten times the heart as your b*tch a*s.” The irony, of course, is that DJ Akademiks has been accused of the very same thing he accused Buckingham of. The internet personality has been criticized for using violence and the deaths of rappers to bolster his own fame.

In 2022, music video director Spike Tarantino called out DJ Akademiks for his coverage of Kay Flock’s murder. He claimed Ak did little to cover the rapper during his lifetime, but proceeded to act like he was an expect after Flock was killed. Akademiks has also been saddled with legal troubles in recent months. The DJ was sued for rape and defamation in April. Fauziya Abashe claims that was taken advantage of multiple times at Akademiks’ home. The internet personality denies the allegations.

DJ Vlad Squashes Marlon Wayans Beef During DJ Akademiks Interview

DJ Vlad and Marlon Wayans do not like each other. They may seem like they exist in two different worlds, but they can’t seem to stop arguing. At least, until now. Hell froze over for DJ Vlad on August 26. The hip hop personality decided to step back and reassess his comments about Marlon Wayans. He decided to apologize to the comedian during a recent interview with DJ Akademiks. He went as far as to say that he respected Wayans as an entertainer, and explained how their beef came to be in the first place.

First, context. During an interview with Aries Spears, DJ Vlad claimed that Marlon Wayans had been difficult to work with. He alleged that Wayans asked for $40K to appear on the Vlad TV channel, as well as 30% of future revenue from his episode. DJ Vlad considered both requests to be absurd. DJ Vlad and Wayans proceeded to exchange insults via social media when the latter caught wind of the trash talk. “You unprofessional my guy,” the comedian tweeted. “If you don’t like the number keep it moving. You look BAD. You should fall back. Mad at a black man stating his number? And now you go public and use your platform to try to drag me. I never in my life dealt with this silly negotiating tactic.”

DJ Vlad Admits He Acted Unprofessionally

Vlad admitted he acted unprofessionally during his new interview. “Honestly, at the end of the day, it was just a business negotiation,” he stated. “I could’ve kept it to myself. I overdid it.” Vlad then said that he would be open to working something out with Wayans in the future. “I do actually respect [him],” the DJ added. “That was the reason I approached [him] in the first place.” DJ Vlad also provided some of the reasoning behind his initial frustration. He felt as though Marlon Wayans failed to realize how big Vlad TV is, and didn’t take the negotiations seriously as a result.

DJ Vlad cited other hip hop personalities like Big Boy and Charlamagne Tha God as people that Wayans seemingly had more respect for at the time. That said, he has moved on from his initial resentments, and is eager to bury the hatchet. “My bad Marlon, I apologize,” DJ Vlad concluded. “It’s all good. I think most people just want to respect each other and I think it could have been handled a little differently.” Maybe we will get to see Wayans on Vlad TV one of these days.

Yung Miami & DJ Akademiks Shockingly Agree To A “Caresha Please” Interview

As social media has proved many times in the past, Yung Miami and DJ Akademiks don’t like each other very much. However, it seems like they might finally bury the hatchet… Or at least, they’re open to the possibility. “Let’s do Caresha please season 2 @Akademiks,” the former City Girl tweeted recently. “I would love a sit down from my POV. Everyone POV is very important!!” “I’m down,” the media personality responded, and you can see many of their fans warn against the meet-up in the replies to their posts below. However, we won’t be the ones to rally against a reconciliation if it all goes down in good faith.

After all, they know all the attention that they bring each other doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive as far as its benefits. Most recently in their saga, DJ Akademiks blasted Yung Miami for her current beef with another former Everyday Struggle cohost and hip-hop media leader. Caresha made fun of Joe Budden’s gold plaque for “Pump It Up” over twenty years after its release. We wonder whether the Slaughterhouse MC would also be down for an interview with her to settle their differences.

DJ Akademiks Is “Down” To Talk To Yung Miami

Elsewhere, Yung Miami’s last words for DJ Akademiks came in the form of some scathing bars against him on her “50/50 Freestyle.” “N***a d**k small, probably why his ball so pissy,” she raps on the cut. “Meat puller on your knees, how you standing on the business? / Akademiks, you a b***h, why you speaking on women? / Yeah, leave him alone / Mr. Pocket P***y, what you beating on? / You see this face? I ain’t one of them b***hes you can hang up on.”

Meanwhile, DJ Akademiks’ also recently clowned Yung Miami for her alleged involvement in the Diddy scandal and about how she got herself into a bad situation. As you can see, there’s a lot of history that these two could hold grudges over. But it seems like an honest conversation and a big engagement farm might tip the scales towards peace. We’ll see if this actually manifests, and what the nature of their interview would even look like… If it does go down, that is.

Drake Backtracks After Teasing Round 2 With Kendrick Lamar

Drake may have been the one to label the Kendrick Lamar battle as “good exercise” and step away from their back-and-forth, but he apparently is still itching for another round. Moreover, a lot of his new “100 GIGS” material, whether its tracks or its footage, is about his place in the rap game amid his many beefs this year. Not only that, but Drizzy’s social media activity via his @plottttwistttttt IG burner also indicate that he’s feeling quite boastful and confident. In fact, he posted a Story of Rasheed Wallace proclaiming: “We will win Game 2,” which obviously sent many fans into a frenzy. Even DJ Akademiks tweeted the same thing this morning (Monday, August 26).

However, it seems like Drake only wanted to make this bold prediction for just a little bit, as he deleted this Instagram Story quickly. As such, Kendrick Lamar fans and OVO supporters alike are now theorizing as to what he could be leading up to. As for the latter group, they think that the 6ix God will eventually release footage of him “plotting for a week and feeding the information” to K.Dot during their battle, which he claimed on “The Heart Part 6.” Another theory is that this isn’t literally about a second round, but rather about him rising above his many rap rivals and still seeing massive success despite their efforts.

Drake’s Since-Deleted Boast About “Winning Game 2”

Either way, it looks like Drake doesn’t want to boast about this “Game 2” any further, but the message was already clear. As far as other “100 GIGS”-related content, he also has been dropping some previously released videos as new footage. These include of Kanye West at OVO Fest 2013, plus Aubrey and J. Cole buying CDs of Born Sinner upon its release that year.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that Kendrick Lamar will drop something very soon, but it’s anyone’s guess as to whether it will have anything to do with Drake. Some fans think that he’ll be more than happy to engage again, especially if his sworn enemy is on a high horse online right now, albeit a since-deleted one. Others doubt that the Compton lyricist will pick the carcass apart again, and argue that silence speaks volumes. We will see…
