DJ Akademiks Claims Drake Scrapped A Press Conference And Reveals “100 GIGS” Release Details

DJ Akademiks is back at it again, indulging in more behind the scenes Drake claims and post-beef strategies for The Boy. This time around, Ak spoke on his livestream about an allegedly scrapped press conference Drizzy was going to host last year or the year before, plus some rumors about how the recent 100 GIGS drop made it to streaming.

“So Elliott Wilson, back in the day, was just – and I guess I can say this now ’cause Elliott and Drake ain’t cool no more. Apparently, Drake was about to do a press conference last year or the year before at his house. He was hitting up select journalists to fly to Toronto,” DJ Akademiks continued. “You know everyone was just salivating over this Drake interview. ‘Are we going to get a Drake interview?’ Like, the whole culture, every goddamn media personality, just everybody. And apparently, this was the plan. I think Drake comes up with it. ‘Yo, I’m going to bring certain journalists here and we’re going to do a press conference. So rather than pick one of y’all to do an interview with, I have all of y’all.’ It didn’t end up happening.”

DJ Akademiks Speaks On Drake’s Alleged Press Conference And 100 GIGS Drop

“But I remember [Elliott] was just, like, it wasn’t really Drake, it was Mr. Morgan,” DJ Akademiks went on. “And that’s when I started hearing that name and I’m like, ‘Who the f**k is Mr. Morgan?’ I asked Drake for his Spotify wrap-up to see how many streams he did, ’cause I post everybody’s streams at the end of the year. He was like, ‘Oh, just hit Mr. Morgan.’ Anyway, I just didn’t know who he was. Apparently, the guy was just in the room, I didn’t even know it was him. They called Drake, I’m there with [PARTYNEXTDOOR]. But then, it kind of shows how organic and how simple Drake’s process is.

“So it’s me, PARTY, Mr. Morgan, and Drake’s on the phone,” DJ Akademiks concluded. “That’s the night he dropped that three-pack. 100 GIGS, is that what it’s called? He asked the Mr. Morgan dude, ‘Yo, are we still going up with that thing?’ It was 1AM or whatever. And the dude is like, ‘Yeah, it’ll probably be on DSPs in 30 minutes.’ I was like, damn. I would think this is a big Universal operation seeing the fact that their artists they gave 100 million dollars [to] just leaked some songs. But it looked like they just organically released it.”

DJ Akademiks Outlines A Plan For Drake To Overcome Kendrick Lamar Loss

DJ Akademiks just offered his latest theory on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef, and looked to the 6ix God’s past for a way out of his loss to K.Dot. “I was thinking about, coming off of that whole battle with the Pusha T thing,” Ak’s advice began. “You know why the Pusha T thing didn’t sting as much? Bro, [Drake] immediately had… He had ‘God’s Plan’ already. The n***a had… What else, what else, what else? He had ‘SICKO MODE,’ right, that came out that year. ‘Mob Ties,’ yeah, he had so many hits. Quickly, even if people said he lost to Pusha T, we didn’t feel the ramifications of the aftereffect.

“I think we’re waiting on the next Drake slap, right?” DJ Akademiks continued. “And ‘It’s Up’ is borderline that, but I don’t know if it’s undeniable. I don’t know if Drake is just dropping this because he’s like, ‘Nah, this is going to be it,’ or he’s like, ‘Yo, let me just give y’all some s**t to hold y’all over until I hit you with the real s**t.’

DJ Akademiks Strategizes For Drake’s Comeback

“Because I do believe, if I’m Drake, my best song that I have in my catalog, I don’t care who’s on it, I’ll pay the n***a to get off it,” DJ Akademiks went on. “Like, say you have a feature on it. You need to drop that now, you need to drop that s**t. It don’t have to be number one, but it has to be the s**t that we’re all playing for the next two to three months. And I don’t know the release strategy. That’s one thing me and Drake don’t talk about. I don’t think it’s fair if he talks about that with me, as well.

“The reason why I don’t think it’s fair is because somehow, through and through, I’m probably going to hint to it,” DJ Akademiks concluded. “And I don’t want to ruin or step on what he got going on. He’s the artist, he has the vision, let him rock out. Let me be the journalist, the media personality, and the fan that can do the critique, right? So I’m waiting for the slap, right? ‘Yo, this finna be at every club.’ ‘It’s Up,’ eh, it’s cool.”

Polo G Declares The Best Song From The Kendrick Lamar And Drake Battle

In a new interview with DJ Akademiks, Polo G was asked for his thoughts on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle. The battle, which ended between the rappers in May, still rages on today through their respective fanbases. The climactic track, “Not Like Us,” turned into a victory lap for Lamar, who created one of the most popular songs of 2024.

Polo G did not want to pick sides or a winner. Akademiks changed his line of questioning, instead asking for his favorite song from the battle. Polo settled on “Not Like Us,” becoming the latest rapper to praise the track in the last few months. Akademiks, who has often been critical of Kendrick Lamar, could not deny the track’s success. He called it a “bop,” which is more praise than he usually reserves for Lamar’s music.

Polo G Praises “Not Like Us”

“Not Like Us” has been a massive success for Kendrick Lamar. It was his first #1 single since “HUMBLE.” from his 2017 album, DAMN. The track recently passed 650 million Spotify streams, becoming the most-streamed diss track on the platform. Earlier this month, it received the first of what will probably be many award nominations, getting a nod at the VMAs for Song of the Year. It’s become such a big track that Michael Rubin had to ban it from his Fourth of July party because Drake attended the festivities.

Polo G recently released Hood Poet, his fourth studio album, on August 9. The album features collaborations with Future, GloRilla, Offset, and others. It’s received tepid critic reviews, though fans of his are enjoying the new music. Over the last few weeks, he’s done some press for it. He was on The Breakfast Club earlier this month, and now he’s on Akademiks’ show for the same purpose. Akademiks will not be the only person to ask Polo about his thoughts on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle, as it’s the hottest story in hip-hop this year. But, he can say he was the first to get the Chicago rapper’s perspective.

DJ Akademiks Chimes In On Rumors That Nicki Minaj Dissed Drake & PARTYNEXTDOOR

A lot of people are thirsty for more Drake beef this year, whether they’re the most ardent of OVO Stans or the biggest Drizzy haters this side of Compton. But many of his fans also know to be wary of narratives and speculation that people are hating on him or that he’s hating on others, and a fanbase that relates to this caution all too well is the army of Barbz that is analyzing Nicki Minaj’s latest livestream. Moreover, she seemed to refer to “ugly boy 1” and “ugly boy 1” for working with “ugly girls,” and many on both sides took this to mean that she was angry at the 6ix God and his OVO partner PARTYNEXTDOOR for working with Latto and Ice Spice respectively.

“Yo, Nicki is f***ing petty, bro,” DJ Akademiks said of the alleged Nicki Minaj, Drake, and PARTYNEXTDOOR situation. “I can’t believe that Nicki really treats the music industry like it’s high school. People are making money, man, people are making millions of dollars. You’re making millions of dollars. People are gonna collab with who they want. None of the beef that y’all have is that serious because, otherwise, you’d be pulling up on these b***hes.”

DJ Akademiks Speaks On Nicki Minaj’s Possible Drake & PND Disses

But again, for many Drake and Nicki Minaj fans alike, this narrative from Ak and others doesn’t make too much sense. For one, a lot of Barbz are claiming that Nicki had prefaced this by saying that they were going to make up a fake story to prove how quick the media is to grab headlines… Which is a really weird way of going about it, but it seems to have worked if true. On the other hand, the Young Money partners were doing great right amid the Kendrick battle, it seems like she played their collabs after her rant during this livestream, and there aren’t really any valid or surefire indicators of who she’s talking about in her rant other than recent context informing fans’ interpretations.

As such, there might be at least some friction with these collaborations, but we doubt that there’s actually any beef to report on here. A similar conclusion applies to the alleged beef between Drake and Lil Wayne, with Weezy sending some interesting signals as of late. But just like with this Nicki Minaj situation, we doubt that Ak and others are accurate in fully believing it. Nevertheless, only time will tell, so we’ll see what continues to happen with Young Money in the public eye…

DJ Akademiks Downplays Yung Miami’s Diddy Comments On “Caresha Please”

The Season 2 premiere of Caresha Please, Yung Miami’s podcast with interviewing duties courtesy of Saucy Santana for this first episode, held some long-awaited and divisive comments on her relationship with Diddy. In case you somehow don’t know, the Bad Boy mogul faced various accusations and lawsuits alleging sexual assault, abuse, harassment, sex trafficking, and other crimes over the past few months. The Florida rapper spoke on why she was silent during this influx and on her experiences and eventual break-up concerning Sean Combs. But sadly, not everyone is sympathetic to her story. DJ Akademiks, for example, insinuated during his latest livestream that Miami let herself go too far in this situation and did not respect herself enough, suggesting that she was only interested in superficial optics and relationship fare and eventually faced the consequences for it.

“With all due respect, you are a pretty girl,” DJ Akademiks’ comments on the former City Girl began. “But there’s a lot of pretty girls. Beauty, especially seeing all these girls get lip fillers, they’re wearing fake hair. That ain’t their hair, right? They get some implants, they put their t***ies up to their neck.

DJ Akademiks Speaks On Yung Miami’s Recent Diddy Revelations

“Like, it’s easy to create the idea of beauty that a man would be appealed by,” DJ Akademiks continued concerning Yung Miami. “So what makes you special? Is it because you have some fame? No, Diddy’s messed with way more famous women than you. He had J. Lo, for God’s sakes. What makes you special? I’m going to tell you. If you disagree with me, it’s because you don’t know no n***as in the industry. Because I talk to these n***as. Like, what is it about this girl?

“You know what they say?” DJ Akademiks concluded. “A chick like Yung Miami… She do everything. Put it like this: self-respect is the kryptonite of rich n***as. Women: self-respect is the kryptonite of rich n***as. They don’t want to be around you when you’re saying, ‘Ah, I’m not doing that.’ The women who are in the game, they know this, too. If you want to get in the game, first, you got to hit that plateau of how good you look. Once you’re above the bar on how good you look, how far you go with these men in the industry will revolve around how little you say ‘No.’”

Elliott Wilson Cosigns DJ Akademiks’ Theory As To Why Nicki Minaj And Others Are Hating On Him

Elliott Wilson is one of hip-hop’s most celebrated media voices, but thanks to recent situations with Charlamagne Tha God and Drake, it’s clear that he’s also among the most hated-on. Nicki Minaj recently seemed to fuel this fire by insinuating that he’s too old to chase Internet headlines, and DJ Akademiks questioned why some people are so quick to dismiss him. “Why everybody hate Elliott Wilson, man?” Ak began his remarks, a clip of which Wilson posted on Twitter while saluting the streamer for his breakdown. “This has to be studied. So, this [Nicki Minaj rant] was about Elliott Wilson. Elliott Wilson, ironically, is 53. Recently we’ve seen Charlamagne get at him, Drake got at him, and now Nicki Minaj basically, in a roundabout way, is getting at him. I’m wondering why everybody hates Elliott Wilson so bad. I’m wondering if it’s a few things.

“Is it because of his age or is it because of his actions?” DJ Akademiks continued. “You know, again, I think Elliott’s kind of doing what a lot of other people are doing in media. Yeah, I really don’t know why people hate Elliott Wilson. I think he’s doing what the majority of media personalities are doing. One thing I’ll say is that it’s clearly working. Artists hope to control the media or control the thoughts of the media. And when you get artists upset at you, as long as you’re not operating in bad faith, you’re probably doing something right or you’re operating and giving your thoughts against the grain. Now, I think Elliott’s a little bit different, and I think this is why he’s been getting dragged by a lot of people. Yeah, he did an interview with these people.

DJ Akademiks Wonders Why Some Artists Hate Elliott Wilson

“Maybe that makes sense,” DJ Akademiks added. “Didn’t they [Elliott and Nicki] do a CRWN together? Oh, they did. Now it’s making a little bit more sense. Like, Elliott’s got those [Nicki Minaj and Drake] interviews, and I think people feel like he’s regressed. I had to come up talking about the artists ’cause them n***as ain’t want to talk to me. However, I think with Elliott, they looked at him like someone they respected. Someone who was a great journalist that would talk to them, and they feel like he’s now… I hate to use the word ‘regressed,’ but they feel like now he’s in the lane of, like, gossiping. That’s the only way I could size it up. Because I can’t tell why they all mad at him, you get what I mean?

“But I think these people look at him like, ‘Yo, I gave you an interview. I did an interview with you back in the day, like, yo, what’s going on?’” DJ Akademiks concluded. “Now, I don’t know what Elliott Wilson necessarily has said about Nicki Minaj recently or what he’s posted about her. However, it’s interesting to see how he’ll kind of take this and run with it. S**t, I think he’s in his villain arc. I think Drake said something about him, he went crazy on Drake. And listen, yo, Elliott reminds me of me when Big Ak had to come out, you feel what I’m saying? When everybody was playing with me. I think that’s the mode that Elliott Wilson is actually on. I’m wondering if he’s gonna address it.”

DJ Akademiks Sounds Off On Kendrick Lamar Fans After Drake’s Latest Release

DJ Akademiks went off on fans of Kendrick Lamar during a livestream on Tuesday night after going through the 100 gigabytes of material Drake put out. Among the release were three new singles, “It’s Up,” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Blue Green Red,” and “Housekeeping Knows,” featuring Latto. There were also behind-the-scenes clips from music video sets, studios, and more.

“Drizzy back in that bag! This why y’all can’t kill the GOAT,” he began. “If y’all hating on him rapping, he gonna go to R&B. Y’all hate on him doing that, he gone go to some dancehall sh*t. Y’all hate on him doing that, he’s over here doing some afrobeats. You can’t stop the GOAT. Sorry. I know some of y’all are mad. He’s about to deliver a classic with PartyNextDoor. He’s about to have all the b*tches wet until motherf*cking Christmas. Then, he’s about to drop some rap tracks dissing everybody again. That’s how it’s gonna be. Y’all gotta get over it. Y’all can’t get rid of the GOAT. I apologize your favorite artist ain’t that versatile.” From there, he added: “I’m sorry y’all favorite rapper only gives y’all songs to crip walk. Y’all on Google like, ‘How to crip walk.’ … Your favorite rapper can do 1 thing… my favorite rapper can do 10 I’m sorry…”

Mustard Believes Drake & Gordo Conspired To Ruin His Album Release

Mustard was a key figure in the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Overall, this was due to the fact that he was the producer of “Not Like Us” which has proven to be one of the biggest songs in the world this year. Moreover, the producer appeared in the song’s music video and was even at “The Pop Out.” All of these moves are antagonistic and we’re sure Drake didn’t take too kindly to all of them. Now, however, the famous DJ believes Drake might be out for revenge.

When it was revealed that Mustard was going to sell 18K units first week for Faith Of A Mustard Seed, Drake fans were quick to celebrate. Many felt like this was a flop for Mustard and that he should be ashamed. Subsequently, the producer went online and said that first-week sales were a tool of white supremacy. He also said that Drake is the Malcolm X of White People, which is a pretty hilarious diss when you think about it. In his most recent stream, DJ Akademiks revealed that the producer believes Drake and Gordo attempted to sabotage him.

Mustard With Some Allegations

Essentially, Mustard allegedly believes that Drake told Gordo to drop his album on the same day as him. Drake had two features on the Gordo album and in Mustard’s view, Drake knew this would take some shine away from his project. However, as Akademiks points out, Gordo sold less than FOAMS. Having said that, it is hard to see how the Gordo project may have affected his sales. Either way, it is clear that the Drake and Kendrick beef continues to go deeper and deeper.

Let us know what you think about this theory from the producer, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that Drake conspired with Gordo to drop on the same day as Mustard? DJ Akademiks Wants Lupe Fiasco To Start A Battle With Kendrick Lamar

DJ Akademiks is calling on any rapper with the skillset to take down Kendrick Lamar to step up and challenge the iconic Compton rapper. He made the comments while reacting to Big Sean’s recent appearance on Charlamagne Tha God’s new podcast, Out of Context. Sean revealed during the interview that he almost had a beef with Lamar following the release of a leaked version of “Element.” On the track, Lamar had dissed Sean but quickly called him up to apologize.

“Yo, I’m at the point—even y’all say Drake ain’t win— I’m rooting for any n***a that could f*ck Kendrick up! I’m tired of this sh*t!” Akademiks yelled while streaming. “He got rappers sounding like h*es! N****s are apologizing, scrolling through their text messages unsending what is this n***a doing? Y’all got the same 24 hours in a day why can’t y’all squabble with this little midget, what the f**k?!?!” From there, he suggested Lupe Fiasco needs to take down Lamar.

Akademiks’ suggestion comes after Fiasco recently clarified that he doesn’t have any issues with Lamar during a conversation with Joe Budden on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces. “I do not have a problem,” he claimed. “No matter what was said in the past, what you think happened, what happened, what didn’t happen. I personally and professionally do not have a problem with my brother-in-arms Kendrick Lamar.” Fiasco previously sparked rumors about a hatred for Lamar by siding with Drake in their viral feud.

Mustard Claimed Album Sales Were ‘A Form Of White Supremacy,’ But Fans Believe The Producer’s Declaration Has Other Ego-Driven Roots

Mustard produced Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping Drake diss track, “Not Like Us.” However, it seems that momentum hasn’t translated over into his personal projects.

On July 26, the acclaimed producer dropped his latest album, Faith Of A Mustard Seed. Now, the first week sells projections are supposedly in. According to Akademiks, the body of work sold 18k units.

As users online began to declare the album a “flop,” Mustard made a bold claim on his personal X (formerly Twitter) page. “Album sales are a form of white supremacy you n****s racist,” he wrote.

He then sent a jab Drake’s way before turning his attention to Akademiks, writing: “Drake is the Malcolm X of white people 😂 and Akademiks make sure you post Gordo’s first week since Drake thought he did a thing with making him drop on the same day as me 😂.”

However, fans didn’t let Mustard’s first declaration pass without pushing back. One pointed out that Ice Spice’s debut album Y2K out sold his, to which he was left speechless.

Many began to dogpile Mustard as they referenced his past reaction to his 2019 album, Perfect Ten, first week sells.

“Now it’s racism, should’ve got Carti up there again, maybe you would’ve moved some units,” penned one user.

“It’s only racist when your album flops. If your album sold well, you’d be flexing your sales 😂😂😭😭,” laughed another.

“No album sales represent if your audience / the marketplace actually like what you produce. Clearly they don’t like you. Stop playing the race card,” chimed another.

But several people jumped in to side with Mustard. “Too many people take numbers way too seriously. Let the music speak,” argued one user.

“Plenty of artists drop projects that have low sales In the beginning for it to go platinum later,” added another.

“I hate how people use album sales as a metric to grade how good and powerful the music is. If you changed one person’s life while they listened to any of the tracks, you already won, man,” wrote one user.

The public’s tracking of first week sells has been used to instigate multiple rap feuds.

Faith Of A Mustard Seed is out on now via 10 Summers Records and Interscope.
