Diddy is a businessman through and through. Across every era of his career, the producer has birthed a memorable item, whether tangible or intellectual. His success over the decades has earned him enough capital to enter the talk to potentially become the majority stakeholder of BET. But there were a few times when the entertainer gave away free promotion to a company outside that he did not spearhead.
However, those days are long gone. Diddy made that known loud and clear during his surprise appearance at the Something In The Water festival. Joining Pharrell and Busta Rhymes on stage, the entertainers made a slight lyric change to their 2001 song, “Pass the Courvoisier, Part II.”
A track all about their love of smooth liquor and partying, the musicians replaced the cognac brand name Courvoisier with Diddy’s vodka company Circoc. Sharing the performance clip with the caption, “Last night was magical,” fans quickly chimed in to share how clever the modification was.
The original lyrics of the chorus sung by Pharell with the beloved adlib being rapped by Busta, originally was “We gon’ tell that n***** (Pass the Courvoisier) / We gon’ tell that brotha (Pass the Courvoisier) / Everybody sing it now (Pass the Courvoisier) / Everybody sing it now (Pass the Courvoisier).”
While the updated lyric was “Pass the Ciroc this way.” The song originally featured on Busta Rhymes’ fifth studio album, Genesis, has long been used to amp up parties since its release over 20 years ago.
Watching the Something in the Water stream and Pharrell brought out Busta and Diddy to do Pass the Courvoisier and instead they said “Pass the Ciroc this way” lmao
This isn’t the first time that that lyrical update has been performed. Nonetheless, fans were still giddy over the line as it was performed last night.
“Pass the Ciroc this Way” instead of “Pass the Courvoisier” was incredible
It’s the final day of the Something In The Water Festival in Virginia Beach. The lineup this year has been pure bangers. Performances have included Arcade Fire, Coi Leray, Grace Jones, Kehlani, and The Jonas Brothers. The festival, which began in 2019, was a solution to abating the violence that came with the popular “College Beach Weekend”. To many, Virginia Beach is the northern equivalent of Daytona Beach, the popular Florida spring break destination. Pharrell wanted to create a “positive weekend” that didn’t take away from the college break experience.
Legendary rap artist Diddy was not among the artists listed to perform at the festival. Diddy and festival organizer Pharrell are long-time friends. Diddy even appeared on The Voice in 2016 as part of “Team Pharrell”. However, not being on the set list wasn’t going to stop the hip hop mogul. He and his son made a surprise appearance at the proceedings yesterday. It was a surprising ray of sunshine on what has been a very wet weekend for festival attendees.
Diddy And Son Dance At Something In The Water
Despite rain bad enough to trigger a weather advisory in Virginia Beach, festivalgoers were treated to a number of guest stars during Pharrell’s Saturday set. First up was Diddy and one of his sons. The pair danced around stage, performing a number of iconic hits from Diddy’s Bad Boy Record days. He reworked his classic song “Pass the Courvoisier” into a new version, “Pass the Cîroc” alongside Busta Rhymes, “Finna Get Loose” with Pharrell, and “All About the Benjamins.” Diddy and Busta Rhymes previously appeared as part of the 2019 Pharrell’s Phriends set.
However, they were far from the last guests during the “Pharrell’s Phriends” set. Controversial rapper Chris Brown also made an appearance. While the weather abated somewhat on Saturday, the festival really is in the water again on Sunday. Organizers have delayed a number of morning and early afternoon events due to wind and rain. It is unlcear when the final day of music will begin because of the conditions. Previously, the start of the festival on Friday night was delayed five hours due to the poor conditions.
Diddy is no stranger to accolades or honors. Fans and industry members alike continue to show admiration for his work even this far into his long and storied career. Now, Diddy will be receiving the Icon Award from the world-renowned Apollo Theater. In June, they will be holding their Spring Benefit gala in Harlem. Recognition from such a legendary theater is no doubt quite an honor, even for someone of Diddy’s caliber. However, the theater will not only recognize the rapper, as the Impact Award will also be presented to basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Additionally, the Apollo will honor Jonelle Procope, the CEO, for her twenty years of dedicated service to the theater. Furthermore, indie eyewear manufacturer Warby Parker will receive the Outstanding Leadership in Innovation, Diversity, and Global Community award.
The event will also play host to performances by MC Lyte, Wyclef Jean, and DJ D-Nice, who will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop with DJ sets. All tickets sold will benefit The Apollo’s performing arts, education, and community initiatives that serve 200,000 people annually. While Diddy has received numerous accolades, he also pays it forward to other rap superstars, such as DJ Khaled, who recently received a stunning new gift from him, as showcased in a video on Instagram earlier this month.
Diddy Pays It Forward
Diddy gifted his friend DJ Khaled a luxury golf cart earlier this month. In a video posted by Khaled to Instagram, the pair can be seen checking out the cart’s features. “Thank you [Diddy] love brother beautiful gift!!!!!!! Grateful! #LetsGoGolfing,” the DJ wrote in the caption of the post. Diddy spoke out on the gift, telling the world how proud he was of DJ Khaled’s work. “I’m so proud of my brother [DJ Khaled] for all the work he’s putting in on the golf course,” Diddy wrote. “Enjoy my gift to you! I had to find the flyest of the fly for my brother! This ain’t no regular degular golf cart!”
DJ Khaled teased a new golf-focused TV show last month, made with the help of Diddy and actor Mark Wahlberg. Several Instagram videos showed the DJ and Diddy playing golf. In one, “Juicy” by The Notorious B.I.G. plays in the background as Khaled takes a big swing. In another clip, Diddy praises Khaled’s golf game, and reveals that they have already filmed the pilot episode of the show. Furthermore, there is currently a bidding war for the rights to air the series. Looks like Diddy is staying booked, busy, and appreciated. What do you think of the new award from the Apollo Theater? And are you planning to watch Diddy and Khaled’s golf show? Let us know in the comments.

Sean “Diddy” Combs’s net worth finally reached a billion in October 2022. Replacing Kanye West on the Forbes list, the American rapper, actor, producer, and record executive first worked as a talent director at Uptown Records before founding his own record company, Bad Boy Records, in 1993. At Bad Boy Records, he would sign iconic artists such as Notorious B.I.G, Mase, and more. In addition, he’s released a wide portfolio of multi-platinum albums.
Despite growing up in a violent environment that directly impacted his family, he rose above the circumstances. He developed a keen entrepreneurial spirit at 12 years old when he began working as a vendor for a local newspaper company. Throughout the years, Diddy’s expanded his portfolio to include a number of ventures and investments, including Revolt TV, Ciroc, and more. Below, we broke down exactly how Diddy accumulated a billion-dollar net worth by 2023.
Diddy Got His Start at Uptown Records
After graduating from high school, Diddy initially enrolled in business school at Howard University. However, he dropped out after two years after talking his way into an internship at New York’s Uptown Records. During his first experience in the music industry, he developed artists such as Jodeci and Mary J Blige. Diddy was able to move up the corporate ladder into an executive position.
However, Diddy was fired from Uptown Records in 1993 and embarked on the next chapter of his career. Harrell, who fired Diddy, later clarified in the Bad Boy documentary Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Storythat he “fired Puff only to make him rich. I told Puff he needs to go and create his own opportunity.” Either way, Diddy’s termination would inspire him to his own record label.
Founding the Bad Boy Entertainment Record Label, he brought artists such as Notorious B.I.G, Carl Thomas, and Faith Evans with him. In addition, he utilized his industry notoriety to begin creating his own music. He produced Notorious B.I.G’s Ready to Die and Life After Death, the two respective albums now amongst the holy grail of rap albums. In addition, he released Platinum albums such as No Way Out and Forever. While Diddy’s sound was rooted in hip-hop, his penchant for soul and R&B fused into his sound. At Bad Boy Records’ peak, it was worth over $100 million.
His Alcoholic Beverage Company Is His Most Profitable
While seemingly every famous rapper has delved into the alcoholic industry, Diddy was the pioneer of the trend. Back in 2007, he took over Ciroc Vodka as a majority owner. He would utilize his image to pivot the brand from a minor player to a multi-billion dollar powerhouse. The brand has branched out significantly from its original product offerings including various flavors and ready-to-drink products. Ciroc launched four flavors of vodka-spiked, ultra-premium canned cocktails. In an interview with Forbes, Diddy stated, “When it came to our innovation, we wanted to disrupt the market. When I was looking at the landscape, it wasn’t giving me luxury. We’re making the category sexy.”
Diddy owes the bulk of his net worth to Ciroc Vodka, where he’s making an estimated $60 million per year. However, Ciroc is not his only venture into the alcoholic beverage space. In addition, he owns the luxury tequila brand DeLeon. All of these brands fall under the umbrella of Combs Wines & Spirits. All of his companies fall under his recently re-branded Combs Global, which contains a portfolio that ranges from alcohol to cannabis products. The two billionaires in hip-hop, Diddy and Jay-Z have each had highly successful ventures into the alcoholic beverage world.
Diddy Disrupted the Clothing Industry
If alcohol has been Diddy’s primary source of net worth, then clothing is a close second. Back in 1998, he launched the Sean John clothing brand under the umbrella of sportswear. The brand would soon branch out into other lanes of fashion. Once exceeding $450 million in sales on an annual basis, Sean John was one of the premiere clothing brands in the US. However, the brand went starkly downhill after Diddy sold his majority stake in the company back in 2016. By 2021, Sean John had filed for bankruptcy. It would take Diddy re-purchasing the brand for $7.5 million to save it.
The billionaire’s clothing initiative began in a cubicle at Bad Boy Records. Jeffrey Tweedy, Sean John’s president for two decades, spoke about the initial process in an interview with GQ. He stated, “I got several calls from [Diddy] about starting a brand. He had a three-year plan already laid out, from what the collection looks like to what we do with it to where we market it how we market it to who we put it on. Diddy had done his homework.”
Diddy Is Building A Black-Owned Media Powerhouse
Diddy has also dived into the television network space. Launched in October 2013, Revolt TV was created with the intention of being “unapologetically hip-hop.” The network has lived up to that mantra, giving hip-hop artists the opportunity to promote their work through mediums such as Revolt-hosted podcasts, music video blocks, and covering social justice issues targeting African Americans. More recently, Diddy has expressed interest in acquiring a majority stake in BET as Paramount Global explores a potential sale. The initiative is a part of Diddy’s long-term vision to own a black-owned media powerhouse.
While rappers such as Childish Gambino and 50 Cent have had successful ventures into acting, Diddy was one of the first hip-hop acts to dive into the networking side of television. At the time, Comcast agreed to carry minority-owned networks as part of its deal to purchase a minority-stake of NBCUniversal. This is when Diddy came in with Revolt, a network that he announced on the steps of Notorious B.I. G’s childhood home.
Diddy Proven To Be An Intelligent Investor
Outside of driving his own businesses, Diddy has proved to be an intelligent investor. For example, he’s currently a partner of Aquahydrate, one of the biggest water companies in the world. Investing a cool $20 million in the company along with Mark Wahlberg. Both are now part of a company that’s worth over $2 billion.
Diddy has also begun to invest in the cannabis market. Back in November of 2022, he acquired the licenses to buy various weed businesses in three different states. The overall deal was worth around $185 million. The deal would make Diddy the owner of the largest black-owned cannabis company in the nation. His dive into the industry was rooted in steadfast anger, as he expressed his frustration at the lack of Black representation in the industry. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, he stated “Two percent? All the years, all the pain, all the incarceration…to me, it was important to do a big deal like this.”
Diddy’s Net Worth Surpassed $1 Billion in 2022
Of course, Diddy’s business ventures haven’t had a 100% success rate. For example, he attempted to move into the auto parts world by creating the SJC Wheels Company back in 2005. At the time, the worlds of lavish cars and hip-hop were tied together. Therefore, the move had some definite promise on the surface. However, the company’s highly expensive line of wheels would fail to appeal to its target audience. SJC Wheels would file for bankruptcy a year after its inception.
From failed business ventures to getting fired from Uptown Records, Diddy would use these experiences to mold him into one of the hardest workers to come out of the music industry. From the alcohol to fashion industries, Diddy and Jay-Z’s ability to succeed with a wide-range of business ventures stands them from the rest of the crowd. Replacing Kanye West as America’s second hip-hop billionaire in 2022, his wealth and notoriety have continued to shoot up with age.
We are now officially in the final week of The Late Late Show With James Corden. The departing host is making the last days of the show eventful, like with the emotional final “Carpool Karaoke” segment featuring Adele. An installment with Diddy aired days before that, and Corden says he thought that would be the final drive before Adele surprised him.
Corden was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (April 24) and he explained:
“I didn’t know it was happening. I thought our last one was… the last one was with Diddy. We shot that and I had a blast, had a great time, it was brilliant. And I thought, ‘Oh, that’s our last one, he’s someone we always wanted to do, it was great.’ And then I’m in bed one day and I get woken up by Adele smashing these cymbals above me as I’m asleep, and she said, ‘It’s your last ‘Carpool’ and I’m going to drive you to work.’
So it was all very… it was amazing and I love her so much for doing it because she didn’t have to do that. And she’s been… you know, I think it’s evident if anybody’s seen it that we’ve… we moved here a week apart, basically, we moved to LA a week apart, and it’s been an incredible journey for both of our families and I’ll always… I can’t believe she did that for me.”
James picks up Diddy and sings some of his biggest tunes during the memorable drive to work. The two talk about Diddy’s path, including his previous aliases and how he ultimately chose the name Love. Speaking of love, James receives a full lesson on how to prepare his wife for a date.
During his time in the car, Diddy and Corden performed Bad Boy classics like “Bad Boy For Life,” “Diddy,” “I’ll Be Missing You,” and “I Need a Girl (Part. 2).” Additionally, the two belted out Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”
The last ever episode of James Corden’s Late Late Show is quickly approaching. Fans are obviously sad to see the English entertainer moving on, but he’s definitely keeping them happy with an impressive roster of final guests. Most recently, he recruited Diddy to join him for this week’s Carpool Karaoke segment, during which the host and his pal drive around the city and sing along to their favourite songs while spilling tea. Among the hot topics discussed by the New York native on screen were his tips for getting it on in the bedroom, as well as some secrets about his fellow rap stars.
Regarding the former, the father of seven credits his success to his ’90s R&B playlist, red lighting, and keeping the focus on each other by putting phones away. As for the latter, he revealed to the late-night personality that there’s only one other lyricist who’s allowed to call him by his government name. “We call each other Sean, [but] nobody else can call me Sean,” he said of Jay-Z, who was born Sean Carter while Diddy’s is Combs.
Diddy Tells All on Carpool Karaoke
Those who do have the privilege of calling him by the name he was given at birth are on the “Sean-approved” page in the 53-year-old’s book, he joked. As HipHopDX notes, other popular nicknames from over the years include Love, Puffy, Puff Daddy, Sean John, and P. Diddy, among others. Apart from Hov, Diddy noted that his mother also obviously has permission to use his original moniker.
Apart from his Carpool Karaoke stint, the producer has also been making headlines after Yung Miami confirmed that they’re no longer romantically involved. At this time, it remains unclear what women he’s spending time with, though he’s certainly been showing plenty of affection to his youngest daughter, who’s also named Sean Love Combs. Following the young one’s birth last year, her father and the City Girl began drifting apart, though she says they’re still friends. Did you catch Diddy on last night’s episode of The Late Late Show? If not, stream it above, and tap back in later for more pop culture news updates.
Yung Miami recently announced that she and Diddy have gone their separate ways romantically, but they both seem to still be living their best lives. The City Girl recently spoke with The Cut about some of her major career moves as of late, along with her relationships, and is gearing up to drop new music with JT in the coming months. For his part, Diddy has been busy taking care of his baby girl, Love Sean Combs, to who cyber security specialist Dana Tran gave birth last year. The producer doesn’t appear to be officially dating his 28-year-old baby mama, though they do seem to have a healthy co-parenting relationship.
Aside from spending time with his seventh child, the “I’ll Be Missing You” hitmaker found time in his busy schedule to kick it with James Corden on The Late Late Show. Diddy joined him to drive around the city during the series’ beloved Carpool Karaoke series, during which he dished out some hot and heavy bedroom advice to the English host between belting out songs. When asked how little Love’s arrival came to be, the 53-year-old declared that it has something to do with his return to the music industry.
Diddy Gets NSFW on Carpool Karaoke
During his lovemaking sessions, Combs apparently listens to a perfectly curated R&B playlist which he described as”the Super Bowl of [the genre].” It’s notably made of throwback tracks from the ’90s when Puff was a much younger man. After hearing come of the details, Corden began piecing together what sort of vibe should be set, saying, “I go home, I light a candle…” Diddy promptly cut him off, going full dad mode to remind his friend of the dangers that can come from playing with fire. “You got to put the red light on, no candle,” he schooled James. “It may burn down the place.”
Another piece of advice the New York native had to offer is creating an “off-the-grid” environment while building up to sex, forgetting about phones and other technology. Would you follow any of Diddy’s bedroom tips, or do you have rituals of your own that work? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.
