Giggs & Diddy Address The “Mandem” On Their New Single

Since delivering a strong contender for Song of the Summer in the form of “Act Bad” with the City Girls, Diddy has been mostly focusing his efforts on promoting that. This New Music Friday (August 4), however, he has a new track to share with the world – “Mandem.” The song finds Puff connecting with UK artist and his longtime friend, Giggs, and is set to appear on the latter’s upcoming Zero Tolerance album.

As Hypebeast notes, the LP has a release date of August 18. It will also mark the 15-year anniversary of Giggs’ debut project, Walk In Da Park. Knowing this, it makes sense that the South London-based MC opted to rap over rugged, low-end production on “Mandem,” as a tribute to the earlier sounds he created for fans. “I never understand them, I hold my hands out and they disrespect my hands them / Even disrespect my mandem / And use man, they brought us ’round these f**kin’ randoms,” the 40-year-old reflects amid his fast-paced rhymes.

Giggs Prepares for His Zero Tolerance Album with Diddy Collab

Besides honing his creative craft, Giggs has also been spending plenty of time outside this summer. He was spotted supporting renowned footballer Lionel Messi at his debut game for Inter Miami, where DJ Khaled was also hanging out. His “Mandem” collaborator was in the building as well. Months prior to that link-up, we saw Sean Combs proudly showing off some slang from over the pond that his foreign rapper friend taught him.

Check out the visual for Diddy and Giggs’ “Mandem” above, or add the song to your playlist on Spotify/Apple Music. Are you eager to hear the latter’s Zero Tolerance album? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Diddy Was Forced To Cancel His $185 Million Purchase Of A Cannabis Company After A Deal Fell Through

Diddy was one of rap’s original moguls, with interests in fashion, beverages, tech, and more. Unfortunately, he’ll need to find a new way into one of the most lucrative growth industries available today after his plan to purchase a pair of cannabis companies for $185 million fell through. According to TMZ, Diddy had designs on buying the merged Cresco Labs and Columbia Care once their merger was completed — but was forced to cancel his deal, as shareholders of the two companies were unable to reach an agreement.

Per TMZ, the deal would have made Diddy the biggest Black cannabis business owner, with nine stores in Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. Each also had its own production facility — vertical integration, baby — so it’d basically have been darn near all profit. Diddy would have joined a large — and growing — list of rappers with weed companies, which includes Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, and more (this also brings to mind those Hair Club For Men commercials where Sy Sperling informs viewers he’s not only the president but also a client of his own business).

It’s been a rough year for Diddy on the business side thanks to a lawsuit against his former drinks partner, but he did also launch Empower Global, an online marketplace for Black-owned businesses, so it seems he’s still doing his best to

Diddy Accuses Diageo of Illegal Retaliation

diddy

Last month Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs filed a lawsuit against his former business partner, Diageo Beverages, accusing them of using discriminatory practices when marketing his liquor brands.

Diddy’s attorney John C. Hueston released a statement that read:

“Diageo attempting to end its deals with Mr. Combs is like firing a whistleblower who calls out racism. It’s a cynical and transparent attempt to distract from multiple allegations of discrimination. Over the years, he has repeatedly raised concerns as senior executives uttered racially insensitive comments and made biased decisions based on that point of view.”

He added, “Diageo even acknowledged the problem by agreeing in his contract to treat DeLeon the same way it treated their other tequila brands. He brought the lawsuit to force them to live up to that contract, and instead, they respond by trying to get rid of him. This lawsuit and Mr. Combs are not going away.”

The partnership between Combs and the Diageo dates all the way back to 2007. The music icon’s Combs Spirits reportedly accrued nearly $1 billion over its 15-year affiliation.

Now Diddy is accusing Diageo of illegal retaliation for cutting ties with him after he filed his lawsuit…

NY Post reports:

Sean “Diddy” Combs accused his business partner Diageo of “illegal retaliation” on Wednesday, heightening the legal battle between the mogul musician and the spirits conglomerate.

Diageo, which had distributed the rapper’s Ciroc vodka and DeLeon tequila brands, moved to cut ties with Combs last month after he filed a suit accusing the company of racism in the promotion and distribution of his liquor labels.

“The message is clear — if you dare to shed light on Diageo’s conduct, you will be punished,” Combs’ lawyers said in documents filed in New York State Supreme Court on Wednesday and obtained by The Post.

Diageo, the world’s largest spirits company, has asked the court to toss the lawsuit.

However, the filing called Diageo’s motion to dismiss the case “smoke and mirrors,” and asked the court to ignore the request.

“While Diageo has self-servingly misrepresented the goals of Combs’s lawsuit in the press, its attempt to retaliate against Combs for asserting his legal rights will not work in court,” Combs’ lawyer John Hueston said.

A Diageo spokesperson told The Post: “This is a business dispute and should not be recast as anything other than that.”

The company insisted it had the contractual right “to terminate the marketing services agreement in place for Ciroc and begin the wind down of the DeLeón joint venture.”

“Our actions are consistent with our desire to protect the significant investment we have made in both brands and their future growth. Mr. Combs’ longstanding bad faith actions, false accusations and breaches of contract overwhelmingly support Diageo’s justified decision to sever ties,” the spokesperson said.
