Even DNC Staff Thought Beyoncé Was Showing Up, Even Though She Was Never Considered

Last week’s Democratic National Convention was a star-studded event, with special appearances from everyone from The Chicks to Lil Jon. However, one star that folks expected to see who didn’t show up was Beyoncé. Rumors about a performance from Cowboy Carter were so persistent that some delegates were even spotted wearing sashes like the one from Beyoncé’s album cover. While it was later revealed that Beyoncé was never even considered as a performer for the DNC, earlier this week, the convention’s producers revealed that even staffers thought they might end up being part of the Renaissance.

Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss, the convention’s producers, told The Hollywood Reporter, “We never put out anything about Beyoncé. We denied it every time the media asked us — even though, by the way, people on my staff didn’t believe me. I kept getting texts from news organizations saying, ‘When is Beyoncé coming out?’ But come on, we have the biggest star, the Democratic nominee for president. Why would we overshadow that?”

Weiss echoed Kirshner’s sentiment above, saying, “This is the internet taking on a life of its own and people taking something as fact — literally, to the point that people in my booth are saying, ‘Is she coming? You can tell me.’ And I would say, ‘I have no knowledge she’s coming.’ And they would say, ‘No knowledge? So there’s something to know!’ It was pretty crazy. But she wasn’t coming. In the end, even TMZ [which first reported it] had to issue an apology.”

TMZ Apologizes After Beyonce Debunks DNC Performance Reports

Yesterday, there were tons of Beyonce DNC rumors floating around. Overall, it all started when someone at the event noted that there was going to be a very special guest. This subsequently led to speculation that it would either be Taylor Swift or Beyonce. Later in the day, TMZ came out and claimed that it was Beyonce who was set to perform. In fact, she would be performing the song “Freedom” which has become a rallying cry for the Kamala Harris campaign.

Unfortunately, for DNC-goers, the reports were simply untrue. Eventually, Beyonce’s team came out and said that she would not be performing and never had plans to. This was a disappointing update and proved to be one of the rare times in which TMZ was completely wrong about something. They had no choice but to apologize, and on Twitter, they decided to do so by referencing Beyonce herself. “To quote the great Beyonce: We gotta lay our cards down, down, down … we got this one wrong.” they wrote.

Beyonce DNC Report Gets Hit With Brutal Update

It is hard to believe that a Beyonce performance would have swayed voters anyway. In a divided America, lines have mostly already been drawn between those who are Democrats and Republicans. However, it would have certainly turned the DNC into more of a celebration. Overall, Harris had a huge week with numerous endorsements and a speech that will definitely inspire her constituents. Only time will tell whether or not this helps her win the election.

Beyoncé Didn’t Perform At The DNC, And Now Fans Wonder If It Was All A Ruse To Get Them To Watch Kamala Harris’ Speech

Ever since the Kamala Harris Presidential campaign started using Beyoncé’s 2016 hit “Freedom” in its ads and rallies, rumors that Beyoncé herself would perform at the Democratic National Convention didn’t so much “swirl online” as “auditioned for the sequel to a certain weather-based blockbuster from earlier this summer.”

Alas, said rumors turned out to be bunk. According to a spokesperson for Cowboy Carter, “Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there. The report of a performance is untrue.” Naturally, fans are being very chill about this online… if by “chill,” you mean questioning whether the rumor was a bait-and-switch to get them to watch Harris’ speech as she accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination for Presidential candidate. There were also some who posited that the rumor was planted by everyone from Pink, who showed up ahead of Harris’ speech, to the Democratic Party itself.

Of course, TMZ is certainly to blame for some of this, and that organization also offered a mea culpa on Twitter. But it wasn’t all bad; many of those who did tune in were very complimentary of Harris’ speech, and some have already set their sights on another potential date for a Beyoncé appearance: at Kamala’s potential inauguration day in 2025 should she manage to beat Donald Trump at the polls in November.

Also the Las Vegas Aces’ funniest player, Sydney Colson, said this, so it maybe it was all worth it.

Beyoncé Will Reportedly Perform At The Democratic National Convention’s Final Night

The 2024 Democratic National Convention is turning out to be quite historic, as Kamala Harris has officially been named the first-ever woman of either Black or Asian heritage to be nominated the official Presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. What’s more, this year’s DNC has had guests reflective of the optimism inspired by her nomination, with Lil Jon putting in an appearance, Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” receiving play, and reportedly, even Beyoncé preparing to put in a performance. After bringing on Megan Thee Stallion, Charli XCX, and using Beyoncé’s “Freedom” in a campaign ad, Harris’ play for the Presidency is getting a co-sign from the Queen of the Renaissance herself, according to TMZ.

Per TMZ’s sources, Beyoncé is in Chicago, where the convention is being held, and law enforcement has been placed on “high alert” as Chicago Police Department has been assigned to security for the DNC. Some delegates in attendance are even dressed up in Cowboy Carter-styled attire, just in case Bey shows up — and it’s fair to think that they might have some insider information on that count. As for what song she’ll perform, if any… The smart money is obviously on “Freedom,” which has soundtracked the Harris campaign to date. Stay tuned.

DJ Cassidy Leads Historic Musical Roll Call at Democratic National Convention

DJ Cassidy Leads Historic Musical Roll Call at Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention took a musical turn on Tuesday night as DJ Cassidy, a Grammy-nominated performer, made history as the first “musical maestro” of a convention roll call. Cassidy introduced each musical artist and state as Democratic delegates announced their votes to nominate Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate. Each state was represented by a unique song, adding a vibrant, cultural layer to the event.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul proudly introduced the Empire State’s significance to the backdrop of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ iconic “Empire State of Mind.” California Governor Gavin Newsom followed, praising the Golden State over a dynamic mashup of Tupac Shakur’s “California Love” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” The DNC host state, Illinois, energized the crowd with the storied anthem of the Michael Jordan-led Bulls, while Texas showcased its pride with Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em.” Speaking with MSNBC, DJ Cassidy described the experience as “truly surreal.”

Growing up in New York, Cassidy was deeply inspired by hip-hop culture, which has fueled his illustrious career. Known for his work at high-profile events, Cassidy has DJed for Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s wedding, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s recent nuptials, and historic events such as Barack Obama’s 50th birthday and Joe Biden’s televised inauguration.

Cassidy is also the creator of the Pass The Mic brand, a viral sensation during the pandemic that evolved into a primetime televised special. His ability to bridge generations through music has earned him reverence from his peers, establishing him as a modern-day music renaissance man. He celebrates music and its makers in the tradition of legends like Dick Clark and Don Cornelius, and his impressive career continues to solidify his place in the cultural zeitgeist.

The DNC’s musical roll call, led by DJ Cassidy, added a unique and unforgettable touch to a historic night, blending politics with the power of music.

Democratic National Convention Energizes Harris-Walz Campaign with Record Volunteer Engagement

Democratic National Convention Energizes Harris-Walz Campaign with Record Volunteer Engagement

This week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago is more than just a compelling program; it’s a crucial opportunity to harness the growing energy behind the Harris-Walz ticket and turn it into volunteer power in crucial battleground states.

“This week, Vice President Harris’ vision and story will be on full display for millions of American voters in key states. But our campaign isn’t stopping there — in fact, we’re redoubling our efforts to aggressively earn the support of the voters that will decide this election,” said Battleground States Director Dan Kanninen. “On the stage at the Democratic National Convention and on the ground via thousands of organizing trainings, phone banks, and watch parties across the country, this campaign is leveraging the moment to break through and meet voters where they are — exactly the work needed to win a tough and close election this November.”

Team Harris-Walz organized a Weekend of Action to kick off the Convention, hosting over 2,800 events in pivotal states. Over 10,000 volunteers participated, making nearly 900,000 calls and knocking on almost 150,000 doors, resulting in contact with over 1 million voters. This massive mobilization is being sustained throughout the week with daily organizing efforts, including an “All Out Shift Out” competition, where battleground teams compete to recruit the most volunteers. On the first night alone, the campaign secured 24,352 volunteer shifts in battleground states.

On Monday, the campaign launched go.kamalaharris.com, a centralized platform for volunteers to find events, join online communities, and access organizing tools. The site is being promoted throughout the arena and during primetime programming, directing supporters watching from home to text JOIN to 30330 for immediate involvement opportunities.

Tuesday saw statewide and national training sessions, equipping supporters with the skills to organize and mobilize within their communities.

On Wednesday, the campaign will hold its largest phone banking event, with nearly 400 phone banks and 4,000 volunteers making calls across battleground states.

Thursday will feature 500 watch parties across all 50 states, offering supporters a chance to connect and celebrate the Harris-Walz ticket. This gathering provides another opportunity for the campaign to leverage the week’s momentum as they head into the final stretch, aiming to deliver a win for Vice President Harris and Governor Walz.

This week marks the campaign’s most significant mobilization effort yet as Team Harris-Walz prepares to drive home its message in the crucial weeks ahead.

California Legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Tupac, And Kendrick Lamar’s Music Made Its Way Into The State’s 2024 DNC Roll Call

Snoop Dogg was one of the most talked about non-competing Team USA members. His advocacy reportedly earned him a hefty seven figure check. Before cashing checking for commentary work, the “Gin And Juice” rapper’s music brought home the bacon.

Today (August 20), at the 2024 Democratic National Convention his home state honored his early career. During California’s roll call, led by Governor Gavin Newsom, its delegates subtly paid tribute to several hip-hop legends from the Golden State. As Newsom delivered his speech (viewable here) to advocate for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, songs from California legends Dr. Dre, the late Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, and of course, Snoop Dogg played in the background.

Although none of the living acts were present to perform their classic tracks, that didn’t stop viewers at home from performing karaoke to the instrumentals. Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” featuring Snoop Dogg, Tupac’s “California Love” featuring Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” and “Not Like Us,” all made the state’s unofficial 2024 DNC playlist.

California wasn’t the only state to lean on hits from beloved natives. As a proud product of Atlanta, Lil Jon threw his support behind the Georgia delegates with a performance of his song “Turn Down For What” with DJ Snake.

Lil Jon Never Turns Down Not Even As A Surprise Roll Caller At The 2024 Democratic National Convention

If there was ever a time to be demure, a political event would be atop the list. However, when it comes to having a good time, Lil Jon has no occasional restrictions. Tonight (August 20), the Democratic Party and its supporters learned this all too well.

During tonight’s 2024 Democratic National Convention, “Get Low” rapper surprised attendees as Georgia’s official roll caller (viewable here).

Essential, the roll call is for state representatives (by way of its delegates) to verbalize their support for a candidate. Instead of the traditionally vanilla call-outs, Lil Jon helped transform Georgia’s time into one short-lived but now forever iconic performance of his song with DJ Snake, “Turn Down For What.”

As an extra razzle-dazzle, Lil Jon made a fun adjustment to the track’s lyrics to shout out Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential running mate, Tim Walz. Users online are tickled by Lil Jon’s appearance and took to X (formerly Twitter) to show it.

“Lil John is the only hype man that legit hit everywhere,” wrote one user.

“This has to be the most lit roll call in political history. 🔥🔥😭😂,” penned another.

“Lil Jon be getting the crowd hype wherever he’s at,” added another.

“He turned up for WALZ 🤣,” joked another.

Similar to Megan Thee Stallion’s performance during Harris’ rally in Georgia, not every one was onboard for Lil Jon’s impromptu set. But others chimed in to put out the burning backlash.

“I know people are going to criticize this but come on, the convention is 4 hours long. You need to break up the monotony, formal processes, and speeches with some light fun and entertainment. Makes people more alert and attentive for the night,” chimed a user.

Lil Jon’s performance is interesting considering the fact that he slammed a Republican Congressman for citing his lyrics. However, given his past feud with former President Donald Trump, his backing of the Dems makes sense in more ways than one.

Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda Slammed at DNC: “It’s Worse Than You Think”

unnamed (1)

During night one at the Democratic National Convention, former President Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda was thrust into the spotlight as Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow and a new video unveiled just how extreme and dangerous Trump’s blueprint for a second term could be for the American people.

McMorrow delivered a stark warning about the agenda’s potential to dismantle American democracy. “Whatever you think it might be, it is so much worse,” she declared. Highlighting one key aspect of Project 2025, she accused Trump of aiming to transform the federal government into a personal regime, loyal only to him.

“They’re talking about replacing the entire federal government with an army of loyalists who answer only to Donald Trump,” McMorrow said, raising alarms about Trump’s plans to weaponize the Department of Justice and the FBI to target his political opponents.

“We believe in a government of the people, by the people, and for the people – not the government of Donald Trump, by Donald Trump, and for Donald Trump,” McMorrow emphasized. She stressed the importance of preserving the rule of law and the separation of powers that underpin American democracy.
