Rick Ross Thinks Most Rappers Have The Same Top 3 MCs List For This Reason

Rick Ross recently hit up Adin Ross for a livestream together, and they got up to a whole lot of antics. In addition to a broken chair, the duo chopped it up about an array of topics, whether that was everyday pop culture happenings or Rozay’s career in the rap game. On that last point, an inevitable and forever unanswered question in hip-hop came up: who are the best rappers of all time? For this, the Maybach Music Group mogul put Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur, and Jay-Z as his top three. Not only that, but he also explained why a lot of MCs share this exact ranking and why there’s so much overlap among his peers.

“When you hear OGs like myself and other n***as say those names so commonly, it’s because they had the biggest effect,” Rick Ross posited. “These the n***as that we watched get rich. Jay, Puff… that was really that first generation that we watched get rich. Because we’d seen artists that were hugely successful, but were they extremely wealthy? We not sure.” Given that he purchased a billboard in Dubai for his girlfriend recently, we know just how much he manifested inspiration from these figures into his own empire.

Rick Ross Breaks Down His Top 3 Rappers List To Adin Ross, Explains Similarities

Still, the Mississippi native didn’t provide any disrespect or lack of appreciation for that older guard of hip-hop pioneers. For example, he named Run-DMC as one of the most “extremely successful” artists of the Golden Age who didn’t garner the wild commercial success and extracurricular business practices that later lyricists lounged in. “It wasn’t just music,” Rick Ross said of why Big, ‘Pac, and Hov are often considered the greatest among rappers. “They was doing a lot of different s**t.

Meanwhile, we know one name that for sure won’t appear near any of his lists of praise when it comes to MCs. The 50 Cent beef is as alive as ever, and that’s a narrative that likely won’t slow down anytime soon. Still, if you ask Fif who the top three best rappers are, maybe this disproves the 47-year-old’s theory. But we need a larger sample size for that debacle. On that note, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Rick Ross.

MC Lyte Causes Controversy After Old Lyrics About Age Gaps Resurface

MC Lyte is one of hip-hop’s premier legends, and few femcees have reached her level of acclaim and influence since. However, as every other rapper under the sun, her lyrics– especially early ones– often fell under much scrutiny with differing or shifting societal standards of what can and can’t appear in a rap song. To explain, Ray Daniels of the Culture Report podcast recently brought up lines from the New York rapper’s 1991 cut “2 Young 4 What,” which she released when she was 21 years of age. In them, she makes some worrisome remarks on the age gap between her and a potential male partner.

“It may sound nasty and it may sound mean, but I’m into little boys that are about seventeen,” the 53-year-old rapped back in the day. “I don’t know why, but they put up a fight, and hot damn that excites the MC Lyte.” “I gotta ask: why are we not up in arms about the MC Lyte line?” Ray Daniels inquired about these lines. When asked what to do about them, the host said that folks should hold her to the same standards of– in his words– the likes of Bill Cosby and Russell Simmons. “I want the same thing everyone else got, I want the same anger, and the same vigor, and the same grooming, that they talked about… I want the same anger for this!” he expressed.

Ray Daniels Questions MC Lyte’s Old Lyrics: Listen

Of course, this prompted a lot of debate on social media surrounding double standards and how seriously folks should take lyrics like these. Some defended MC Lyte’s very young age when writing these lines, whereas others believe that folks don’t make these excuses for men. What many did agree on is that these lyrics aged quite poorly. Still, four bars don’t invalidate decades of hard work, and the Lyte as a Rock artist is still a leading figure for hip-hop these days.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if she responds to this discussion or her lyrics in any way. A lot changed since 1991, including the wider acceptance of rap by society. With that evolution came more perspectives than ever, ones that we must continually learn from to understand why bars like these aged as such. For more news and the latest updates on MC Lyte, check back in with HNHH.

DJ Akademiks & Andrew Schulz Debate About Kanye West: Watch

During a recent episode of Andrew Schulz’s Flagrant podcast, he and DJ Akademiks had a debate about Kanye West. Schulz questioned whether or not Ye’s “run” with music is finally over, prompting Ak to come to the Chicago native’s defense. According to him, Ye’s music run is not only not over, but it’s about to be reignited once again.

He went on, arguing that while other “trash” music lacks substance, West always comes through with “meaningful” bodies of work. Schulz then chimed in, noting how for him, everything since The Life Of Pablo has been a miss. “The thing with Kanye is what rap is missing and what most musicians [are] missing,” DJ Akademiks explained. He went on to compare the performer to Drake, claiming that if the Canadian artist had better “presentation,” he could be in the same realm as Michael Jackson. Unfortunately, he says that his presentation is always “garbage.”

DJ Akademiks Claims Kanye West Is Hip Hop “Royalty”

“Kanye West will drop some sh*t with the best presentation possible,” he continued. “He’ll have projectors on the side of the pyramids or some sh*t.” Schulz then interjected, calling Ye “unbelievably corny.” “Everything I see him do is just unbearably corny, and then I hear him rap, the rap is corny,” he described. “Kanye’s production has been phenomenal, but not in the last almost decade.” Ak continued to compare the artist to Drake, arguing that while Ye will stand by other artists he truly believes in, Drake will simply enlist whoever’s on top at the time.

DJ Akademiks emphasized the difference between a simple feature and a full-blown collaborative album, noting how powerful of a “stamp” Vultures is for Ty Dolla Sign. “Kanye West in hip hop is f*cking hip hop royalty,” he added. Ice Spice Without Makeup Sparks Debate Online

Ice Spice’s breakout single, “Munch (Feelin’ U)” solidified her status as one to watch in 2022, and since then, her star has only grown brighter. As any celebrity knows, fame and criticism come hand-in-hand, and there seems to be a fascination among some online with humbling the 23-year-old as she continues to rack up the accolades. Over the weekend, a fresh-faced photo of Spice without makeup went viral on Twitter. Though her skin is clearly glowing in the image, haters on the platform attempt to bash her for looking different without her usual foundation and eyeliner.

“Ice Spice no makeup on. [I don’t know] how to feel anymore 💔,” the original poster wrote with a throwback picture of the New Yorker. Not only is the photo taken from an angle that likely wouldn’t flatter anyone, but it also makes Isis Gaston’s forehead look larger than normal. It’s worth noting that this wouldn’t change, even if she was wearing a full face of makeup. Despite this, strangers online are slamming her natural beauty and bubblegum pink wig, which seems to be the real issue – not her bare complexion.

DaBaby Proclaims His “Jail” Verse Is Better Than Jay-Z’s

Some people still might have disdain for DaBaby after all of the homophobic actions. Others might not respect him for the music he has been releasing lately, thinking it is all the same. However, what you cannot knock him for is that he is self-confident. He gives off that feeling in his latest interview with NFL Hall-of-Famer, Shannon Sharpe. The former superstar tight end interviewed the Cleveland-born rapper on his entertaining podcast, Club Shay Shay. Both of them chopped it up for nearly two hours and it was a great listen. If you want to check it out, visit the link below.

One of the topics that is going to get a lot of people talking is DaBaby’s belief that his verse on “Jail pt 2” is superior to Jay-Z’s on the original “Jail.” Both of these tracks are on Kanye West’s 2021 record, Donda. Shannon brought this up because Lil Yachty got the ball rolling on this, according to HipHopDX. He made the claim that DaBaby had the better performance on his podcast, A Safe Place. So, the question was delivered, and DaBaby had this to say.

DaBaby Or Jay-Z?

“It was. You heard both of them?” throwing the question back at the host. He has respect for Jay, but ultimately sticks to his guns. “Jay-Z, I ain’t got nothing but respect for you. Was your verse better than mine? Come on, OG. It wasn’t. That’s okay. We ain’t do it at the same time. It ain’t like you had the ability to be able to say, ‘Hold on, [let me do it over].’ We did it in two different times. But definitely.”

What are your initial thoughts on DaBaby claiming he has a better verse than Jay-Z on “Jail?” Which song do you listen to more, part one or part two? Is DaBaby the best rapper going right now? Bebe Rexha Says Nicki Minaj Is Better Than Cardi B, Which Sends In A Frenzy

Of the longest-running debates, the rap community has been Nicki Minaj versus Cardi B. For most music fans, these types of conversations never get stale. However, it seems a good amount of people are sick of this battle between the two femcees from New York. To be quite frank, it is a bit of an unfair comparison. Nicki has been in the game for far longer than Cardi. That also leads her to be more influential by default as well. There are so many female rappers who credit Queen Nicki as one of their biggest inspirations. Pop star Bebe Rexha seems to agree with that same sentiment.

Bebe, from New York as well, has seen both artists at their highest respective powers. Additionally, she has had the pleasure of working with both ladies. Her and Nicki’s biggest track came in a collaboration with David Guetta on “Hey Mama.” As for Cardi, these two worked together on “Girls,” which found its way on to Rita Ora’s 2018 record, Phoenix.

Clearly, she knows a thing or two about this age-old question. On a recent IG live tracked down by TMZ Hip-Hop, Bebe and her stylist discussed who they thought was better and they both landed on Nicki, respectfully. The determining factors for them were the fact that “Nicki writes her own s***,” and longevity, among others, put her over the top of Cardi. Well, fans were not too pleased, calling Bebe out for pitting them against each other.

What are your initial thoughts on Bebe Rexha’s answer on who is better between Nicki Minaj and Cardi B? Who do you prefer in this debate? Will this question ever stop being asked? Cam’ron And Ma$e Choose DMX Over Tupac As The Better Rapper, Fans Weigh In

Pitting rappers against each other and debating who is better, creates a fun discussion. There are so many angles and points you can make for each artist. The conversations can go on for hours, and some can go on for years. Over the course of the 50-year history of the genre, so many legendary names are a part of these sometimes heated arguments. Kanye West versus Drake, Future and Young Thug, and Eminem versus Jay-Z are just a few. Another one that may be closer than you think is Tupac and DMX. Usually ‘Pac and Biggie are thrown into the ring together. Cam’ron and Ma$e were recently asked who they would choose between two legends from the East Coast.

Million Dollaz Worth of Game, the podcast hosted by Gillie Da Kid and Wallo, had the hosts of It Is What It Is on, according to AllHipHop. As we said, this conversation is much closer than some may initially think. Both of them have a global and cultural impact that is unmatched. That is why the pressure was sort of high for Cam’ron to pick someone. As we also said, these conversations can turn ugly in an instant. However, both eventually went on to select the “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” rapper.

Cam’ron & Ma$e Get The Debate Rolling

Essentially, both of them came to the same conclusion. That being that people would go insane at his shows and that they could easily recite his tracks word for word. Cam’ron also had some bias because he had the opportunity to work with DMX before his untimely passing. Some were in agreeance with the two show hosts, while some others respectfully disagreed. One person replied, “X is really one of, if not the most underrated under-appreciated rappers all time. And as a performer he’s legendary But Pac is generational man Kids in Gaza know Pac.” Of course, Cam and Ma$e highly respect ‘Pac, but for them, it came down to personal experience and actually getting to be around X.

What are your initial thoughts on Cam’ron and Ma$e picking DMX over Tupac as the better rapper? Who do you prefer in this debate? What is your favorite DMX song and which is your favorite of Tupac’s? We would like to know what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below.
